Laza in Islington

We had a great meal with superb service and hospitality at Laza today. The food was very tasty and despite the generous portions, we polished it all off. Definitely will be back.

Great place! Food was excellent, service was great, and the vibe was fun. First Ethiopian food for my daughter, and she loved it! Definitely recommend Laza.

Came in based on the reviews and it was well worth it! Shop frontage doesn't give away the quality of the food inside. We both had the meat combo selection which was excellent,very filling and a good mix of spiced and spicy. Staff were amazingly friendly and knowledgeable, really keen to give advice and talk to you about the food and Ethiopian/Eritrean culture. Will definitely be going back again.

The food here is so good, and the service is amazing. Hosts and staff are all super friendly and really helpful. The vegan and meat food is incredibly flavourful and filling. One of my favourite restaurants in all of London, will definitely be back and will bring ALL my friends! Thank you for having us!

Fue una verdadera lástima que hubiera que esperar tanto tiempo (una hora) hasta que llegaron los combos (uno vegano y otro familiar con pollo). Entiendo que se debió a algún problema puntual. No conseguimos reservar por teléfono, pero nos pillaba cerca y pasamos por allí para reservar; de todas formas el día que fuimos había sitio. Tras la espera, la comida, hay que decir, estaba muy rica y picante. La persona que nos atendió, amabilísima y muy simpática.

Nous avons été accueilli par la souriante et très accueillante Naz, qui nous a expliqué le contenu des plats (même si la carte est très bien faite et explique tous les plats, les mélanges d'épices, la force des piments). Nous avons gouté à deux bières éthiopiennes très agréables, une blonde, l'autre un peu plus forte. Ensuite des Chicken Wings (Awaze wings) parfaitement cuits et très bien en entrée, ainsi que des lentilles avec une crêpe salée (nous étions trois). Comme plat, nous avons choisi les cotes d'agneau ainsi que des morceaux d'agneau mariné dans une sauce moyennement épicées avec du pain injera. Les deux plats étaient excellents, il n'en restait rien! Naz nous a offert un plateau de pop corn et du maïs grillé, et a même proposé un café typique que nous avons refusé car il était déjà tard. A recommander et à essayer, surtoout vu le prix très abordable de ce repas pour trois. Ravi d'avoir découvert cette cuisine éthiopienne que nous ne connaissions pas, et merci encore à Naz pour cette trés belle soirée.

This has a somewhat unexciting shop window frontage so it may not draw you in, but it is absolutely worth a visit. My friend and I shared two dishes - the vegan combo plus a spicy fish dish - which were served on a large traditional ‘flatbread’ for sharing. it looks anaemic in the restaurant’s photos but it was actually colourful, spicy and delicious! We sat around eating and chatting for a couple of hours before realising that the restaurant had actually shut! But there was no pressure from our waitress. The only (very gentle and joking) flak we got was from the owner for not eating all our food. Recommended, with a good selection of vegan/vegetarian options.

I am a first time customer. I discovered Laza Restaurant this evening. I fancied a vegan meal and decided to order a meal for delivery from this restaurant (online through Just Eat). I ordered the Laza Special Foul, Awaze Wings, Humus, Injera and Strawberry cheesecake. While I waited, the restaurant owner called to say they had run out of S/berry c/cake and asked if they could send Lemon cheesecake instead. "Even better" I said. I was not disappointed. The food arrived on time and everything was well packaged. The food was well proportioned, mouthwateringly tasty and the injera? Wow - light, fluffy and tantalizing on the tongue! :-) When I finished the meal, I just had to phone the Restaurant to tell them how much I enjoyed their food. A thoroughly satisfying experience. Tasty, tasty, tasty! :-) What a discovery! I plan to make a table reservation and bring my whole family! I highly recommend this place. Well done! :-)

Went here searching for some good Ethiopian food and found it. Meal was truly incredible, textures and flavours I've never experienced before. And the environment and service was amazing too. Felt like I was sitting in a VIP room! Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a cozy, home cooked, delicious Ethiopian meal.

The food and service were both incredible. Our server gave us suggestions on dishes and portions. We got a meat combo which came with two beef and one chicken dishes and many vegetables including spinach, peas and lentils. Can’t wait to come back!

Most Delicious food ever- All the dishes were so versatile - left extremely full and with boxed up leftovers. We got the vegan meat combo with a fish dish as well - was amazing ! They have Eritrean beers that are really nice and well priced also. The bathroom was super clean and candle lit with scented candles- it was almost an entire experience on its own! Really friendly + great service too!

Had a great meal at Laza, welcomed warmly by the staff who were really helpful when recommending orders. Really fun and delicious meal. And…coke in glass bottles, YES!

I recently had dinner at this excellent Ethiopian restaurant. The experience felt like having a meal in a private family home. Warm and welcoming, the food was outstanding and the portions generous. A cut above the others and highly recommended.

Excellent meal and lovely host. Worth a visit. Don't forget the hot sauce if you like it spicey! Thanks to the host and the restaurant. A treat to see it at this end of Stokey.
