My brother and I stopped for lunch after our visit to the Guildhall. We couldn't have been more warmly welcomed or better treated throughout. Our lunches, Ham Ploughman's and Salted Beef sandwiches followed by Red Velvet sponge, were excellent, our individual requests were met without any problems and all the staff were attentive and friendly. You pay for what you get and what you get is first class and what you don't pay for, ambience and service, is right up there as well. First class and highly recommended from Fran & Steve (camouflage top🤭).

Went recently with a couple of friends Cheese scones dry and broke up when cut Not much cheese in . Certainly not the best coffee shopI’ve ever been to ,so won’t be going back Terribly overpriced. Nice enough quaint little place

A little gem of a tea shop in Lavenham. A friend bought us a voucher so we visited today. We were very impressed with the service and quality of the food. So glad we went as we really enjoyed it. 5☆

This is the most wonderful tea room in Lavenham owned and run by wonderful people. We visited today and were having a lovely time until our greedy dog stole a pain au raisin out of our shopping bag! The owner, Amanda was so calm and immediately phoned her vet in Long Melfird who saw us within 10 minutes. Our dog was treated very kindly by the vet and all is well. But what a lovely place to visit - the Christmas scones were delicious and I can’t wait to visit again.

What an absolutely love spot for a traditional tea. The venue can be polished and formal or light and casual depending on the booking. The air about the grounds is so light and lovely, and I was instantly transported back in time to the 40's with the ambiance, vintage tea sets, and lovely traditional foods. The owner and staff are lovely as well! Couldn't recommend enough and will be back!

Lovely lunch & catch up for us 3 sisters today. Cheese scone was delicious & the coffee cake light & fluffy. Busy/full tea room (we had booked) but nobody rushed us to leave. Friendly attentive staff. Will be back for afternoon tea sometime soon.

This is delightful little gem, which boasts just about the widest menu of lovely sweet and savoury treats (plus really decent tea and coffee) that you could imagine, is not one to miss. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the premises fascinating. Don't miss it.

Came here on the 31st October for my brother and his wife’s 53rd wedding anniversary we had afternoon cream tea which was very special and my sister in law was made very welcome

Absolutely fabulous vintage tearoom! One of the best cafes I have been to and so accomodating. We had a gluten/dairy free member of our party and they went out of their way to prepare a special dessert! He was very happy! These quirky tea rooms with attractive display of teapots have a wonderful view of the Guildhall and are well situated for exploring Lavenham. We had delicious door step sandwiches (the bread comes from the bakery almost next door and everything is freshly made) and cake, the latter served with a little pot of ice cream. Vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free catered for. We shall be back.

Colourful with lots of drama, unusual savouries, good choice of cakes, excellent GF scones, eclectic china, attentive and engaging staff. All in all a quirky and good value experience not to be missed in Lavenham.

A table of four were seated with no issue in this quaint, cosy tea room. We often visit when in Lavenham, with the afternoon tea being a delicious mix of three different sandwiches, scones and a selection of different cakes. Our table also went for the cauliflower soup, a salt beer doorstep sandwich, bread pudding and a coffee and walnut cake, all of which were lovely. Hardworking and friendly staff top off what is the best place to stop for lunch in Lavenham.

Only popped in for tea / coffee, at a quieter time of year, but still busy. Very satisfactory. Loved the mix and match of china, meaning that less than whole sets of nice china get properly used, rather than being consigned to the bin

First time visiting Lavenham Blue Tea Rooms after hearing such good things about it! We were very much looking forward to our afternoon tea. Food was lovely and staff were friendly. They were flexible with dietary requirements and very polite, however the long wait for our food did let the experience down unfortunately. On arrival it took 15 minutes to be asked what drink we would like (which feels like a long time when you are just waiting) and then the food didn't arrive for an hour!! We had drunk our tea by then and just had water with our actual 'afternoon tea' food. As we pre-booked I would have expected there to have been a meal prepared for us, sorry to say it was disappointing waiting an hour with a hungry tummy.

Looking for a traditional English tearoom with decor and tea cups look no further than the BVT. Greeted and served by very polite staff. Good selection of food and drink. Busy but not intrusive. Well worth a visit to go back in time a very pleasant time had.

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here today. The doorstop sandwich was a meal in itself, and as for the full works Ploughman, it was incredible! We had no room left for cake, so bought some to take home instead. Service was warm and welcoming and we weren't rushed in the slightest. If you're able to book ahead, I'd do so, as it's clearly a very popular tearoom and deservedly so.

Five of us nipped in here for tea/coffee. the lady pulled some tables together to accommodate us. We ordered teas/ coffees, and cake. and very nice it was too. the service was excellent. I have visited this tea room often. On many levels it is lovely. Great selection of savoury items and cakes, nice staff, dog friendly garden, very atmospheric and twee. It is not my go-to place in Lavenham despite its prime location because being gluten free options are very limited and the last two times I have visited my tea and gluten free cake has consisted of shop brought basic carrot cake {tiny bar of cake}, whilst my family's offerings were usual excellent standard of what appears to be home-made. Once I could accept as perhaps they had run out/end of day/early in season, but the second time the offering was same I was not happy. Visiting yesterday-later in the day at 4.15pm, we asked for coffee and cake to be told 'We are shut'. The tea-room was still busy. I was extremely disappointed as this was the THIRD establishment in lavenham that had had the same attitude. Now lets consider. We have just come out of Covid where businesses like this could not open. There was a lot of complaints about businesses struggling and needing to attract customers and businesses. It was a lovely sunny day in October during this wonderful Indian summer. The town was still busy. And yet Lavenham businesses seem unable to capitalise on the demand and stay open beyond their 'normal hours'. I was beyond exasperated to not be able to purchase cake and coffee mid-afternoon. I voiced my opinion 'No wonder the Europeans think we don't know how to run a business or give service'. You would NEVER get such attitide on the continent-I know because I have lived there and customer service is king! We retired to the Hadley ice cream parlour{superb and open to close of business at 5pm} and then the Angel Hotel for refreshments. Whilst in the garden a group of American tourists with English friends were also bemoaning the 'lack of service' and 'short-sightedness of the local tearooms'. It wasn't only me who felt that way yesterday and presumably other days. I am not without experience as I ran similar establishments and stayed open until close of retail business in the village I lived. I also looked at the weather and if the day promised fine weather and potential increased business I increased staff and remained open. I visited Walton last week-coffee shops remained open on an unexpected hot afternoon well beyond normal hours. Sadly my usual haunt Chilli and Chives was all shut up. Tatums also gave same response. I suggest that Lavenham businesses think ahead to up coming events {Christmas Fair for example} and decide if it would be worth extending hours, as well as capitalising on any unexpected good weather and serving the resutant customers. I am sad to write this review and sorry that I felt so exasperated after what had been a difficult afternoon personally that the Blue Vintage Tea Rooms received my feelings. But my thoughts still hold true. Lets try to be innovative and look at how we can increase business not turn it away.

Both my partner and I live in Lavenham and as locals, I can highly recommend this tea room. Whilst other tea rooms in Lavenham are great, this has become our go to. Amanda and her team really look after you and there are little extra touches. The scones are superb and everything is done to a high standard. The location and building are also wonderful, being in the Market Place. You won't go wrong, coming here.

It's clear why this is rated the best place in Lavenham. A lovely tea room run by a fabulous lady and a great team. The place is full of really interesting objects, quirky signs and nostalgic photos. Great selection of teas, I had a generous pot of redbush, my wife, a hot chocolate. We shared a tea cake as they are huge! A genuine warm welcome and farewell. Definitely a place to visit and enjoy the food and beverage.

A real find. This is a true English tea room with a cosy atmosphere, friendly service, lovely décor with lace tablecloths, historic setting and above all a wonderful cream tea. The scones were still warm, the cream was spreadable and it was all very enjoyable.
