We popped in for lunch while visiting on the Heatherslaw Light Railway. What a perfect addition to an already enjoyable trip. Very friendly, helpful staff. Food was nicely prepared and served promptly with a good range of choices. Nice atmosphere and would recommend.

We called at this tea room and shop on our visit to the village and castle at Etal. Portions are very generous. As is the size of the teapot 🫖! Service is with a smile. I can't say that I would make a regular choice of a Singing Hinny but I'm glad I tried it. This was the only place in our two weeks visit to Northumberland that we found it for sale.

Set in the very pretty village of Etal is this little gem of a cafe and shop. The service and food was top notch and the shop sells all sorts of cakes and goodies as well as the usual essentials. The castle is just a few yards away too! Highly recommended.

On a quick visit via the Heatherslaw Light Railway, we stopped off at the beautiful Lavender Tearooms. Staff are really welcoming and we had lunch outdoors at the many tables outside (indoors is available too). We had the dog with us and dogs are made very welcome. Food was lovely as was the setting in this beautiful village with its thatched roofs etc.

A bit of a strange place... a room in the back of the local post office. Lavender scone quite obviously not fresh and microwaved. Most cake etc local but cut out of packets. Border tart bought. Rijo coffee was OK. Disappointing.

Stopped in past and decided on their afternoon tea. Very friendly and welcoming staff with good quality food (although a more interesting choice of filling for vegetarian sandwiches rather than the run of the mill cheese and tomato would have been appreciated) The tea used was very nice, served in traditional cups and saucers- nice touch! Scones and carrot cake were delicious. My daughter had the vegetarian quiche served with coleslaw and salad - 10 out of 10. A lovely salad dressing which would of been nice served on the salad with the afternoon tea.

We’ve been visiting the tea rooms for many years and have never been disappointed. This would appeal to families, friends and couples with a range of light lunches, drinks and cakes. Service is friendly and value good. The tea rooms also house the village post office, shops selling a few basics and gifts. Send a Northumberland tart to friend or family as a gift from the area packaged and posted from the shop. Also if you fancy a treat to take away the Belgian chocolates are delicious!!

A piece of all that's good about England. A step into the past in terms of a typically English tearoom. Beverages, cakes, sandwiches, soups, toasties and more. Delicious homemade and locally sourced ingredients. This could fairly be described as "light bites" but with an enhancement. Vegan and gluten free items available. Our favourite was a cheese scone with butter and a soothing pot of tea, served at tables, with parasols, in a garden setting. The entrance path follows a line of beautifully scented roses and various plants. An oasis on a sweltering hot day! This is family friendly, with prompt and friendly service to tables. A lovely way to spend an afternoon. The cafe also includes a small gift shop and the local post office. This the hub of a beautiful, unspoilt village with thatched cottages and even a thatched public house. Etal, a jewel of a village set in the gorgeous Northumberland countryside. Go on, spoil yourself ; you know you want to.

While on a small day tour of the region our driver dropped us at the Lavender Tearooms for a short break. Being from the US and not having proper scones or clotted cream available anywhere at home, that is almost always what I choose to eat for a snack while in the U.K. I've had good scones and not so good scones, delicious cream and cream out of something like a butter packet. The scone and cream (and jam, can't forget about the jam) that I had at the Lavender Tearoom was quite possibly the best that I've had anywhere, ever. Warm from the oven, scrumptious cream, just absolutely fantastic. I'm still thinking about it months later.

I wasn’t going to stop here as nothing else in the village was open but - wow, am I glad I did - WHAT a lovely warm, cosy, welcoming cafe - great menu, very friendly and helpful staff. Girdle scone tea excellent- too big for me though , and as so many local fresh produce is used and all menu items are made to order it was a great pity to not get home made jam . Also no newspaper- proving quite tricky to find a newspaper in the area

Enjoyed our first visit so came back again. Twice in 3 days as we were staying in Eyemouth, and managed to sit outside in the sunshine on both occasions. Greatly enjoyed our coffee and scone on the first visit and sandwhiches on our second visit. If there was a bad comment it would be that due to the Tea rooms being busy you had finished your tea/coffee before your food was brought out. Staff worked their socks off trying to satisfy all the customers. Loved the way the children's food was brought out in their very own cartons made up to look like cars.

Visited when it was quiet so service should have been good we thought. My partner was given his soup, mine was not served, when it was queried they had made the wrong thing, I only wanted a toastie so should not have been too difficult. It eventually arrived after my partner had finished eating and was now 20+ minutes of sitting. I t was average at best, brie and cranberry toastie, expensive for what it was. Fruit scones were ok, had paid for jam to be with them, no jam given, had to ask again. Fruit scone with jam was then given for me but as we were then running late on time due to the amount of time sat waiting for service I had to take the scone with me to eat on way to train.

We visited here as a family on bank holiday. Where we ordered some lunch. After waiting over 35 minutes I enquired where our order was. I was then 'challenged' about how much we had paid as the order had gone missing and there was no record of it. We were then told there were now 20 orders in front of us, so we would need to wait until these had been processed before we could get our food. My son is 6 and a diabetic so we were unable to wait as now an hour had elapsed. There was nowhere else to go as the pub in the village is now closed. We requested our money back and left. My Son was in danger of being seriously ill but they weren't even bothered.

This is alovely little tearoom in a beautiful location - it looks great, is well maintained and has a lovely seating area outside. The coffees and cakes we had were nice too but considering that the village is a perfect stopp off for walkers I was amazed that dogs weren't welcome (except outside) - having spent many a time visiting the Lakes where dogs are welcomed and encouraged at every cafe, tearoom, pub and attraction you visit I found it a little odd that families with dogs are forced to sit outside in the rain (the sign on the door even restricts people with muddy boots from entering). Considering the location of this tearoom I was left disappointed - I didnt even get a chance to look inside - hence the mark down in rating. To be fair if you don't like dogs and prefer a spotless tearoom it is probably deserving of a 5 star rating :-) Horses for courses I guess.

Doggy friendly too with a treat for pooch 🐾

Played today, Mon 26th August, Great layout, but sadly the greens are diseased and awful, and the tee boxes are terrible, very expensive bar, and no food being served, even though there was a competition on, and the bar was busy, Sadly one to miss in the future.
