We booked for a special 70th birthday celebration for my mother. We pre informed the team on the phone of our special dietary requirements, 5* vegan, and were extremely disappointed to be told when we arrived and ordered that our special requirements could not be met as they didnt have a record. We were offered vegan sandwiches but as most will appreciate, you dont have an afternoon tea for the sandwiches! Whilst we appreciate it wasnt the servers fault, the customer service was poor and we felt like we were the ones in the wrong! Even though we could see the drinks had been made and we asked to have those complimentary (given our wasted 30 minute drive), we were told they weren't ready! It ruined our special day - our toddler was crying all the way home - and we wont be returning.

Having previously visited the Tea Room in 2021 and having an enjoyable afternoon, I was gifted a Champagne Afternoon Tea voucher which was extended due to the initial Coronavirus Lockdown. I was told that the voucher would be extended for 12 mths. During the July Lockdown, I received initial treatment for cancer and remained in isolation due to surgery despite the easing of restrictions. As we approached the festive period, I was healing well and hoped to book the afternoon tea once I had been given the all clear. As we entered New Year, I noticed that the voucher had been extended to January 1st 2022 rather than February 2022. (The venue was closed until Jan 4th) I contacted the venue upon realising this and was told that the tea room was no longer part of the Laura Ashley Group and they could not extend an expired voucher or help despite the circumstances. I felt incredibly let down. Good Customer Service would dictate that all live bookings (we had initial confirmation that the voucher remained live) that any changes to management etc would be accompanied by a courtesy email, with this, I would have been assured about the status of the voucher and if it could be used by friends or family members around the Tea Rooms festive closure. Disappointing communication and customer service

Visited again been several times but so disappointed this time .We accepted that price would have increased but the afternoon tea wasnt a patch on previous visits ,a few paltry sandwiches nice but nothing special and definitely no refills allowed this time.Tea or coffee only allowed once again no refills unless you pay extra we all agreed one scone would have been plenty with a couple of extra sandwiches instead ,service was fine we were only ones in there cost £96 for 3 average afternoon teas and 2 prosecco really sad because always been lovely before

We booked afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday. The hotel grounds themselves are beautiful tough the tea room looks a little aged & could do with an update. We were seated & given menus & chose out hot drinks which actually took nearly 40 mins to arrive. There were not as many waiting staff as there should have been which was disappointing considering we booked in advance. I write this review two months after having visited & the only thing that was memorable was the coronation chicken wraps. Two of our diners do not eat smoked salmon which I added to our booking & we were offered no substitutes which was disappointing. The menu states that scones come with lemon curd which they didn’t & to try & get the waiting staffs attention proved rather difficult. All in all, a disappointing experience especially given the birthday celebration which again was no acknowledged despite adding this to the booking form.

We held a small wedding reception at the Laura Ashley Tea Rooms at Burnham Beeches. Our agreed menu choice was apparently 'lost' on the day so we didnt get what we had ordered and the service was below par, forcing the best man of the party to have to visit the kitchens on more than one occasion to request drink top ups, cutlery etc. We have complained on several occasions but all correspondence has been ignored. The manager didnt even have the courtesy to apologise for their error. This was a special day which was marred by bad communication, sub standard service and poor attitude. We expected better from this franchise.

Visited with my friends for an afternoon treat on a miserable Monday afternoon. Lovely room. Had the traditional afternoon tea. Nice selection of fresh sandwiches. Especially liked the coronation chicken snack. Beautiful light scones and a selection of fancy cakes. Great selections of teas too. Our waitress Beth was really friendly and attentive. Going the extra mile. All Covid precautions in place so we all felt very safe and well looked after. Really good value - you won’t leave hungry.

As a group of six we arrived to find a Covid secure venue and were housed in the beautiful, bright Garden Room. There’s a good variety of tea on the Afternoon Tea menu, the red bush and Earl Grey were both excellent. The finger sandwiches are a nice selection - though not necessarily the ones listed online. The smoked salmon comes in a neat pastry tart. The scones were warmed, and served with clotted cream and a selection of preserves. We were brought extra ham and cream when we were running short. Cakes and desserts on the top tier were fresh and enjoyable although a couple were short on flavour. Thanks to the staff too, they were very attentive and keen to help.

Bought an afternoon tea for two for my mother in law for Christmas. The voucher is valid until November this year. As she has a heart condition and is very worried about visiting anywhere I contacted the restaurant to explain and see if, like all other places I know, they are extending their vouchers by the length of time they have been closed as I was concerned she was not going to be well enough in time and was unable to use her voucher when she was well. I was told the only vouchers that are being extended are those that expired during lockdown. I explained once again and asked if they could escalate it to the manager who simply said she can have a take away afternoon tea. I explained it was booked so she could experience the full afternoon tea in a lovely room and was told they are only extending vouchers that expire up to September (contradicting what they said before). I explained again why and they still simply do not care. The manager even replied let me know the date you want to come and I will book you in, clearly ignoring the fact that I wrote and said she had a heart condition and could not come. I only get a reply when I’ve chased them too, that’s locally and the Head Office. It’s the first time I’ve bought a Laura Ashley voucher and will be my last. I bought it believing there would be great service there. If dealing with them on this is anything to go by the service will be very lacking

First time we tried afternoon tea outside London top hotels& restaurants, and I must say it actually beats hands-down many of those, in terms of food quality and the fact that the tea is from leaves (you would be surprised some 5-stars hotels do have teabags for afternoon tea) We were a family of 4, it was a bit of an eerie atmosphere with the social distancing so you had one table sat and one empty, but we thoroughly enjoyed, great selection of jams for the scones, with free replenishment of the jams or scones, and we liked so much of the teas that we bought a box to drink at home. And the cherry on the cake was than due to Eat Out To Help Out scheme, we paid only half of the price, must be the best value afternoon tea in England for this price!

We visited the Laura Ashlet Tea Room in Solihull for our anniversary this week. They were able to fit us in at very short notice, which I was impressed with, albeit not in the actual tea room itself but the garden room. Although not as nice as the tea room, the garden room was still beautiful with Laura Ashley decor. It looked out onto the courtyard which was peaceful. The staff were ever so friendly and attentive, and when they discovered it was our anniversary they brought us a special treat with a congratulatory message which was nice. The afternoon tea itself was lovely. The food was tasty, and well presented. The scones were light and fluffy and evenly baked. The mini cakes were sadly a bit of a disappointment as I didn't think they had much flavour or a good texture, but being a baker myself I am a perfectionist when it comes to cakes! All in all we had a lovely time together and I would recommend it and would go back again. (Although next time I will make sure I definitely book ahead to secure a place in the beautiful tea room itself!).

There were 4 of us. We had the Christmas afternoon tea with Prosecco which was £1 extra (promotional offer). We had the Prosecco first and the tea/coffee towards the end of the meal. The sandwiches were perfect and we could select which ones we wanted and if we had room they wouldn’t bring more but to be perfectly honest we were stuffed with what was provided. We told leftovers home with us and they gave us a treat of a box of 4 chocolates each all beautifully wrapped. The staff are so helpful and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. FIVE STAR recommendation. You don’t have to have afternoon tea. They serve tea, coffee etc and cake if that’s what you prefer.Just give them a call.

My friend and I booked the Christmas afternoon tea our yearly treat. However this year wasn’t as good as last year. The cost was £25 each and when the food arrived the actual finger sandwiches were dry and he bread was stiff. The turkey in the turkey and cranberry sandwich was bone dry. The cakes on the top were ok the bauble was sticky and very sickly the macaroon was stale and tasted odd we both couldn’t eat it. The trifle was very bland and mince pie very crumbly dry and average. The scones were supposed to be 2 plain and 2 cranberry and there was only one cranberry and again they were dry. Sorry Laura Ashley but this was very disappointing we did make these comments known to the waitress and her reply was sorry. It was over priced and some of it was inedible and not good value for the £50 we paid for it!!!

We arrived for afternoon tea with 1 lady wishing to order off the light bites menu attached to the afternoon tea menu, the lady doesn’t drink tea or coffee, doesn’t eat scones and will only eat plain ham sandwiches therefore wanted to order off the normal menu. The fuss that the “manageress” caused over this was despicable, she advised that the chef had already prepared the sandwiches- but then contradicted herself as she advised we could order extra sandwiches. By the by she had a few terse words off me and the lady got her request off the main menu.

With my friends birthday a fortnight away I tried to book online but it said it was fully booked for Friday 5th July. So I rang and left my details in hope of a cancellation. I heard nothing so I rang again. This time I was offered a 3pm slot. We arrived and the decor is beautiful the the tea room was half empty. I was baffled as to why it was fully booked online. Service was slow to start but once it got going it was fine. The vegetarian afternoon tea was delicious and we had Darjeeling and prosecco to wash it down. The tearoom itself has beautiful decor but had very few tables. I was surprised by the bad layout. Overall I’d recommend.

A small but pretty tea room situated inside The Regency Hotel, with beautiful Laura Ashley decor/crockery & a nice relaxed atmosphere inside. The afternoon tea is good value at £20 per person, especially considering you can get refills of the sandwiches & scones. They do a vegan option too, which started with an 'amuse bouche' of carrot & coriander soup, followed by sandwiches (hummus & roast veg ; tomato ; vegan cheese ; cucumber ; avocado on rye bread), warm scones (one plain scone & one raisin scone, served with coconut cream, blackcurrant jam & strawberry jam) & finally cakes (lemon cheesecake ; apple cake ; fruit & seed flapjack). I was a bit underwhelmed with the sandwiches, especially as the bread was rather soggy, but enjoyed everything else & was particularly impressed with the vegan scones. The staff were friendly & just the right level of attentive, without hovering over our table or making us feel rushed. Although it wasn't the best afternoon tea I've ever had, it was pleasant enough given the reasonable price (& also handy to be able to park for free in the grounds of the hotel!).

The nicest thing was that you could replenish anything without extra cost. ...for £20 per head, this was a good thing because I did feel that it was not really value for money. The sandwiches were quite nice...good choice of fillings and bread types, but the cakes were small, one bite sized and tasteless. The scones were served with cream and a choice of jams but they were also quite tasteless and served cold. Most places serve the scones warm, it makes such a difference. My friend and myself had a pleasant afternoon, and ate our fill, but we would not visit again.

Arriving 20 minutes early we thought we would have to wait but we were greeted by our waitress Aneta who is friendly and very accommodating! We chose our seats and the decor/furniture is very Laura Ashley! Aneta offered us a choice of teas/coffee and brought them over promptly! She then went thru the sandwich list asking us if we wanted any sandwiches changing (which we did) the food arrived and it didn’t look a lot but OMG with the unlimited sandwiches and scones it’s surprising how full you do get! The scones were small and warm and very “morish” the ham/mustard, soft cheese/cucumber sandwiches I felt lacked taste but maybe I just like stronger flavour but it wasn’t nothing to complain about! The whole experience is well worth the £20 and Aneta couldn’t have been anymore attentive! A really lovely place to relax and enjoy!!!

The food was delicious with selection of sandwiches and scones which were replenished on request, which was a bonus. Lovely selection of cakes as well. Would truely recommend but make sure you book to avoid disappointment as very popular.

We had arranged for the Afternoon Tea as it was one friends birthday treat. Everyone was very pleased and we had a enjoyable afternoon. Staff were very friendly and helpful Including as we asked for the sauces to be put into dishes instead of on the food everything was great. So much so we have rebooked for our Christmas Afternoon Tea.

I have just visited these Tea Rooms and I couldn’t find fault, the staff were really polite friendly and helpful, the food was fresh and very tasty with a great choice even for one of us who is Gluten free, so much food that they had to give us a box to take some cakes home. Will certainly go back again

Lovely décor and nice staff. Good quality and excellent afternoon tea we chose Prosecco with Champagne for our afternoon tea. It was stunning and a lovely afternoon sunshine and peaceful relaxing settings perfect. We booked in advance and the car park is very spacious as it is part of the Regency hotel as well. The sandwiches were very soft and fresh and very good selection and the scones and clotted cream were divine. The food is unlimited you can order top up sandwiches and cakes if you want more. Spacious quiet and very tasteful no screaming children or babies just a relaxing afternoon with a nice glass of sparkly to celebrate.

The girl that served us had not been there long, but she knew what she was doing, She was very polite and very attentive, to our needs. The afternoon tea itself was first class. We were a party of 4 people and one was in need of gluten free food, which she said was excellent. The sandwiches were very good and the cakes delightful, as was the tea. All in all i would recommend the tea room for everyone, and i will return for another fine dining experience.

Four of us went for afternoon tea to celebrate my sister's birthday. Table was booked for 3.30pm. We arrived a little early but were shown to a table in the window. It was a very hot sunny day so after approx 30mins we asked to move table as the sun was shining directly on one of our party. At this point we had not received any of out order. Drinks arrived but no afternoon tea for approx another 30 mins! We were told it was because they had a large party in another part of hotel! Not my problem when I'm paying £26.00! When it did arrive sandwiches were dry as if they had been made and left for a few hours!! Scones also very dry. Disappointing!!! The decor was nice but would not go again due to poor service and poor quality of food

I may not be the best person to appreciate the Laura Ashley afternoon tea as I feel you can get an extremely good 2 course lunch for less ££. The decor is .....Laura Ashley. Bright rather than cosy. There was plenty of tea. Although there didn’t seem to be a lot of food, I had plenty to eat and didn’t eat everything. I think the sandwiches are a bit underwhelming being made from very dull ordinary bread. The fillings were ok but nothing to shout about. The scones were lovely and fresh with lots of jam and cream. The other cakes were pleasant. To sum up....I think it’s a little overpriced and the sandwiches need to raise their game. Overall....pleasant!!

Afternoon tea to support a friend in crisis. Easy to book but definitely a must as its not a very large venue and so if you turn up without booking you could be disappointed. Its not cheap but the food is varied and tasty and you can make substitutions if you dislike something. There was more than we were able to eat in one sitting. So it was great that the balance could be boxed up to take away. The presentation is quaint, posh and dainty and would not be out of place in front of the Royal family.

We visited here as part of my Mums birthday celebrations! Staff were very accommodating as we requested vegetarian friendly afternoon tea option. All sandwiches were freshly made and cakes too. Only fault was the dirty table cloth when the waitress went to lift the unused cups off our table once we had ordered. Other then that would highly recommend.

A group of us visited on a Sunday afternoon for a celebratory afternoon tea. We had an enjoyable and relaxed meal, able to savour the food and conversation without feeling rushed. There was a good selection of tea on offer served in individual pots. Refills were available, however, when a refill of green tea was requested, it was replaced with English Breakfast. The food was a nice selection and dietary requirements were catered for. The scones were lovely, it would have been nice to have them warmed as many places offer but this did not seem to be an option. The cake selection was interesting and a good mix. I found the coffee cake too strong for my taste but others enjoyed it. Boxes were available to take home leftovers. The service was efficient but not overbearing. We liked the surroundings, it made for a very pleasant afternoon. I would happily go back.

We visited the tea room for a special celebration, we were not disappointed. We chose the tea we preferred which were served in bright clear glass tea pots. An excellent selection of sandwiches and savoury bites together with tasty bite sized cakes and delicious scones. Good attentive but not intrusive service. All together making our experience a relaxing and pleasurable one. Definitely will visit again.

We visited the Laura Ashley tea room today for afternoon tea. I was confused why people have said there is not much of a Laura Ashley theme in the tea room. There are LA mirrors, wallpaper, accessories, tableware, blinds etc. Looked like a bit of a cosy showroom to me.

Popped in on Saturday afternoon. Surprised that it was such a small tea room and part of the Regency Hotel. First impressions were pretty dire. We were seated by the one member of staff (Sophie) at the only table that was made up. The tea room was virtually empty but lots of tables were left uncleared. Just had tea and scones (thank goodness!). Our order took a long time to arrive. Fruit scones were dry as a bone and crumbled into several pieces. Obviously overcooked (by the Hotel)! Lots of cream and jam.Tea was just about passable. As other reviewers have said, the only thing connected with Laura Asley is the crockery and the wallpaper, few mirrors and lamps. Could do with a Laura Ashley stylist sorting it out. Not a good advert for the company. They seemed to have no idea of what a modern tea room offers. Standards and decor were not good enough. Toilets were dire! Overpriced. Thank goodness we did not bring my mother-in-law along for a treat. Recommendation: give this place a wide berth until they have drastically improved.

I brought my mom, sister and aunt here as a special 60th birthday treat and wish I had picked somewhere else. The tea its self was nice however it was the service that let the place down. We were welcomed by a girl that looked like she would rather be anywhere else but at work, she then took our order without a smile and came back about 10 minutes later with our tea. She never once asked us if we would like any more drinks and twice we had to go up to the bar and ask. The sandwiches and scones are actually refillable but she didn’t tell us this and we only knew when another waitress was explaining it to other tables, our waitress never asked us if we wanted anything else or whether we were satisfied with our orders. Once all drinks and plates were empty again she ignored us and we had to go up and ask for the bill. This is really unfortunate, afternoon tea is meant to be a bit of a special treat and nothing about this experience was special. I wouldn’t recommended based on my experience today as there are some better places nearby serving a better tea.

We had afternoon tea here on a Tuesday afternoon a couple of weeks ago. I don't think there is any Laura Ashley connection apart from the crockery & wallpaper.

I visiting the tea room with family just after Christmas. I had high expectations as Laura Ashley is very well known. On arrival we were shown to our table and given menus we opted for the afternoon tea. The sandwiches and cakes where very nice and well presented however for the price I expected maybe a few more sandwiches. The staff were ok now overly friendly or smiley but they weren’t rude and gave a good service. Overall this it was a pleasant visit.

I was planning to have afternoon tea here having been made aware of the tea room during a visit to Laura Ashley in Solihull. A relative passing through the area called in to the hotel to have a look at the venue and check out wheelchair access as I am a wheelchair user. Was informed that both entrances had four steps and therefore no provision for a wheelchair user or anyone who has difficulty negotiating stairs.Apparently the receptionist was apologetic and said they were trying to find a solution but this place has been open for about eight months now so its no excuse, portable ramps that are placed alongside the steps are easily available to buy in all sizes so seems more a case of can't be bothered and am disappointed that Laura Ashley have entered into this knowing that they are denying access to anyone who can't walk basically. Very disappointing in this day and age that this is still happening.

Been going to the Manor House cafe for a long time but was very disappointed with today’s visit (06/11/2024). Whilst the food is still good they have brought in a new policy with the tea they serve. Instead of getting a pot of tea you now get a tea bag and a pot of hot water. Fair enough you might think. However when I asked why they were doing this, the answer was ‘people ask for more hot water and are therefore getting an extra cup of tea for free’. How petty and how bad for business. £1.95 is not cheap for one tea bag and a little milk. The staff should not refuse extra hot water (after all, they can’t refuse a glass of tap water) or begrudge an extra ‘free’ cup of tea to customers who are also spending a decent amount on food. I was not alone in my thoughts, several other people were making the same comments. Also, new cafes and coffee shops are opening all the time in Solihull so there is a lot more choice. The Manor House should not be alienating customers like this or they might find they will go elsewhere.
