Great little not so little pub. Food was lovely. Great atmosphere. Beer is on point. Staff handling a busy bar like Champions and the place is always clean. Definitely worth a visit

I had a meal there in September, just gone. My girlfriend and I fancied something to eat, and then a week later, I had a £100 charge from the pub. I ate in the pub, and nothing was said to me about inputting my car details, nor did the staff say anything at all. In the end, Sam, the general manager, sorted out the parking charge for us, which was much appreciated. So, all's good. Thank you. P.S. The meal was very nice before I headed back to Yorkshire.

I came in for lunch with my mum, dad and sister today (Wednesday lunchtime) and our food was lovely. The two ladies working were so helpful and welcoming and cleared up any queries we had about the menu. We’ve never visited before but will definitely be back again soon with service this lovely :) thank you

Disgusted and appalled to find out i have been coming here eating the vegan/vegetarian options on the menu and today found out they are not and infact cooked with none vegan/vegetarian food, other food was good and enjoyed by the rest of the group

Booked ahead for 10 people and the staff were amazing! I didn’t catch anyone’s names but they were all great!! We all had food and although a couple people had minor issues, it was quickly sorted and they were so helpful and we had a big round of drinks and they were lovely and carried them over for us even though there was 20 drinks 🙈 Thankyou again from the group that left the Tavern singing! 💖

Great food, lived in the area my whole life and never once been in for food. Me and my boyfriend came in for lunch and we both really enjoyed it

Always been a hit and miss place, apart from the food which is decent though with a good range of products on the menu, never ever had a bad meal here. Be good if the pub went back to serving breakfast like it used to in the past. Sometimes it takes an age to get served even when it's empty, with staff sometimes ignoring customers waiting to be served, or choosing to serve 'the faces' over those who have been waiting before them.

Decent pub with friendly staff. £2.60 for a half pint of Peroni which is alright in my book. Nothing special but it does what it says on the tin. Thanks to the MGT team.

Been drinking here for 14 years. It’s the beating heart of the community if you want a good time and reasonably priced drinks this is the place for you! Most Saturdays there is some form of entertainment where you can cut some shakes and sink some drinks. Iv met most of my long term friends from this place. Come join us!

Had a mixed grill. Was spot on. Staff were helpful.

Since being taken over the food has gone really good and it's a nice place to go for an afternoon meal.

Was an OK pub on a over night stop over before we flew from Birmingham Airport. Friendly bar staff and locals. Nothing to complain about at all. There was a lady called Wendy in a puffa jacket in July with pockets full of Cadburys chocolate bars offering them around the pub at a very good discount. Like 10 massive bars for 2 quid. Excellent value.

Don’t not go to this pub if u wanna feel harassed and uncomfortable what the hell as happend to this place use to be a lovely friendly community pub now it gone down hill hardly any customers in there was in here a couple a moths ago and the manager Sarah was a lovely women now you have a new manager who looks like a Smurf. what a horrible human being absolutely rude as not got no communication skills not one bit. Gives out dirty looks She was more obsessed with chasing me in the toilet not just once but three times made me feel absolutely uncomfortable as a women made me feel like I was doing something wrong which I wasn’t I won’t be using this place again also spoke to a couple friend who now opt to use other pubs as they say Sam she makes them feel uncomfortable

Excellent choice of food. Something for everyone. Good value, tasty and plenty of it.

Libby was so helpful. I was out with work colleagues and libby looked after us so well. We think she is amazing.

First time here and seemed really nice. Didn't have food, so cannot comment. Bar staff seemed lovely and atmosphere was nice.

Absolutely awful food my partner had the lasagne it came out burnt and the garlic bread was charred I had the steak and ribs or should I say Rib the rib just tasted salty and burnt We have visited many sizzler pubs before and the food has always been great Food came out on a standard plate not the sizzling plate as we’ve had before We definitely won’t be returning

Ordered well done super steak, got steak still bleeding, used 4 serviette’s drying blood and water up on plate, sent steak back, then got it served with outside scorched but inside still bleeding, used another 2 serviettes drying more blood and water, by then I’d lost my appetite, so left it, my wife and grandsons burgers were borderline edible again cinder scorched, we felt embarrassed to complain once again as the bar staff are lovely, and the fault of whoever was pressing the buttons in the kitchen we spent over £40 but never again, I’m sorry to say but you wouldn’t get this poor level of service even at Wetherspoons,

One of the rowdiest pubs I've ever been in

Popped in for a meal and a few drinks with friends that extended to the early evening. Teresa and Sarah were nothing but lovely at the bar. Kind, personable and just all round genuine people. Rihanna went the extra 10 miles for my son whose 1 years old and catered to him and he’s every demanding need haha She even came over and asked if they could wash my sons food bowl which we bring with us which she didn’t have too Great service, great beer, great food and an all round great day Thank you guys

Staff are lovely and service very efficient, eat here regularly with my family and value for money and portion sizes are always spot on. Entertainment every week which we enjoy when we pop down, recommend to everyone we speak to :) extra bonus of having deals and discounts when I downloaded the sizzling app which is always welcome

Made many friends in this pub over the years and some great memories.

Bought a bottle of wine, and they didn't have any wine glasses. Staff rude, and not prepared to wash 2 wine glasses that I went to find.

Sophie on the bar had wonderful polite service with a smile, I ordered the chicken gyros wrap which was very nice well done Reece and Harvey. Libby was checking on how the meal was and it we needed anything else, the staff couldn’t do enough. Thankyou to all

Came for lunch with my daughter was greeted with a lovely smile from both Sarah and Sophie who was on the bar. Ordered two mixed grills was brought to us by libby who was ever so polite and kind. Would highly recommend the food. 10/10

Excellent service. Libby brought the food over to us, she is very polite and gave a brilliant service, Reece and Harvey are both fantastic as well as Sophie who was on the bar. All round a fantastic meal with friendly service. I’d definitely recommend the curry house feast 10/10 🥰 and will definitely be coming here again.

Came here for a birthday meal for a family member, The food was terrible. Most ordered steak asked for well done, came out bloody. Returned and had to wait absolutely for a new meal. For it to be returned once again still bloody and a much smaller piece of steak, this time and the onions didnt even seem like they'd been cooked. 2 people ordered the sizzling chicken. Came out on a normal plate with no vegetables on it so just chicken and rice which was plain and boring. Asked where the veg was to be told they had ran out. Nobody told us this otherwise we would have ordered something else. A family member went to speak to a member or staff whilst in the middle of his food Came back and his plate had been taken from the table. We were told there was a new chef on. Seemed like there was zero effort made for any of the meals. And also told there had been plenty more complaints all night from other customers. We were all left disappointed to say the least 😞

I little bit rowdy and service was little slow but there was a football match on,staff friendly and the food was better than other sizzling pubs in the area

came to the tavern last week and got served by zoe, she was so lovely and so energetic she clearly loves her job but not overly in your face. would 100% come again just to see a friendly face

The food was really good. My salmon was perfectly cooked. My husband enjoyed his fish the batter was properly cooked and crispy. Really good value for money. Would stop here again if in the area.

Most attentive knowledgeable staff

Well….. the girls on the bar was fantastic. There didn’t seem to be many but for the quality of service I received I was shocked and was very happy with the warm smile I got even though it was choca.

Not a single order has been correct first order she did three Pepsi instead of 2 but that was OK second order we got carling instead of dark fruits they did change that for us third order again got carling instead of dark fruits i give up at this point but the worst was 4 shots that were all half full the 2 electric mai tai's at £6.25 were in much smaller glasses than the first one I had, the waitress was unfriendly and just put drinks down and walked off not great service even tho I tipped 96p on the last order I know its not alot but not a single smile not sure how to add photos or I would :(

Very nice pub, food was excellent. The only thing that let it down was the cubicle in the men's toilet. Not fit for purpose.

Saturday Evening visit. Too noisy to enjoy a meal although the food looked good with a good menu choice.

Upon arriving it was very busy we found a table and ordered. I then attempted to use the disabled toilets which were very unusable and dirty, to which I reported to staff who then just put an out of order sign up. We were not told a wait time on the food and it arrived after 35 minutes and even then the food was wrong. My husband had the grilled chicken which was not marinaded, the veg were not in the garlic dressing and the rice was clumped together like it had been heated too long. I had the steak and chicken with salad instead of chips and asked for no onion or dressing. It arrived with half a chicken breast onion and dressing on the salad therefore I sent it back. The new meal that was presented had 4 pieces of lettuce and 2 burger slices of tomato. The steak had been cooked in the marychef oven and was so tough it was inedible. Overall I would not recommend this place it is the worst sizzling I have ever visited.

My wife & I visit this pub for a meal frequently, and we have always recieved a warm welcome together with excellent food served to our table by clean and profesional staff. Really nice place to go for a bit of food and drink. The lounge was really modern and cosy, the garden ideal for a warm day. Staff are very helpful and there's a good selection of both food and drink, particularly for veggies. Would highly recommend.

Went on Friday evening 22nd of September with my sister's I have to say I live locally to this public house I was amazed I have never been in before it was by far the best samon I have ever tasted the staff was very friendly I am most definitely going again

During the daytime it is amazing and the food was great but wouldn't go in the evening or weekend as a bit rough and rowdy. Shame as a lot of the locals to the village don't have anywhere to go. I hear it has been taken over so will try it in the evening and weekend and will add another review.

I have been here before and enjoyed the food. This visit wasn’t as good . I had the sizzling chicken platter with veg. Well 3 bits of onion no broccoli and a few bits of peppers. It’s supposed to be on a bed of veg but half the veg was missing . So I basically ended up with a chicken breast and small bowl of chips and tiny amount of veg. Felt robbed and still hungry after paying over £8 for a lunch meal that I really wanted the vegetables

Positive things first. The staff are very nice and pleasant, and the young girl waitressing was lovely. Nice big car park at the back. The ribs were nice. Unfortunately that's about the only positives. The steak was tasteless and chewy, the chips were dry and tasteless. Ordered mains at the bar, then ordered extra drinks and sides on the app. We waited about 25 minutes, we had finished our meals by then and still nothing. My partner had to get up and ask for them, then they were brought over. I waited a little longer and then had to get up to ask where the kids Desserts were as we had finished eating for about half an hour, and still no sign. I could understand if they were busy, but there were only 3 other tables eating, and two of those had finished their meals. It also says kids eat for £1 Mon - Friday til 7pm. We were in that time frame but told we couldn't have the deal? Not sure why? As I said, staff are very pleasant but the service was shocking. And the food was just OK. £50 down the drain.

We arrived at the pub to be greeted by a sign stuck on the entrance saying the kitchen was closed. No communication of this at all prior to us arriving despite having booked. Ended up going elsewhere.

It's been a good many years since our last visit, on looking at the meals coming out from the kitchen they appeared well presented and at a good price. We had a fish and chips and a rump steak, both meals were were pretty good for a pub meal. The rear room had a variety of customers eating, so obviously a popular venue for the locals. We are only visiting the area from overseas, and are pleased to see how well that the Tavern has improved and continues trading during this difficult time.

Amazing food definitely be back

Came for lunch with a close friend and the food was fantastic! This was the first time visiting for both of us. The atmosphere there was lovely, toilets were clean (which is a big thing for me) and the restaurant was a very relaxing experience for us as we ended up staying there for over 5 hours. We had lunch, drinks, a dessert and coffee. Would definitely recommend this place ☺️

The staff gave excellent service. Lovely friendly women. When we booked a table online, there wasn't one set up, so they got one ready very quickly. Very nice food at a good price. Not a good time to go on a Saturday at 8 pm, as it was like a nightclub. Too LOUD and loads of people bustling around our table! Sat beside the toilets and door to the bar.

The food killed my mom. The barstaff freely let people snif coke ... when I'm trying to come off it. They let shoplifters freely come in to sell their stuff...this pub has gone down

Anyone that hasn't been to the Tavern in recent years should really pay a visit. Firstly, following a significant investment it looks more appealing, but more importantly, since Sarah has taken over the atmosphere is so much better. Regular entertainment, has seen me out way past my usual bedtime, and the food is great. Finally a word for all of the fabulous bar staff, who make sure we are well looked after.
