We had the best carbonara in Edinburgh! Classic, without cream, as it should be! The service was also very nice! We would come back again!

Just lovely, a great experience. Walked in with no booking on a wet Sunday evening and met with a very nice staff member which is always a good start. Really friendly waiter served us and was lovely to the family. He also knew the menu very well and was made the dining experience very postive. (Owners waiter was black hair and glasses, might the spanish?. He is a credit to your business). Overall a great place eat, great food and the price point is really good for what is on offer.

Arrived a little after 8pm on a Friday night and barely had time to take off my coat, let alone look at the menu when the waitress approached us and asked us to order quickly as the kitchen would be closing soon. We noticed food coming out of the kitchen well after we arrived so didn't understand the rush. When making the reservation, we noticed that bookings could be made after 8:30pm. We asked a waiter before leaving at what time the kitchen closed and he told us the kitchen stopped taking orders at 8:45pm The food was decent but the service was disappointing so I don't think we'll be returning.

It was amazing! Everything so perfect. I came here twice just because I loved it. We were super well served, the food was delicious and I have 0 things to complain about it. I do recommend for everyone who loves Italian food.

A big surprise with such high quality Italian food. The biggest surprise is the steak. They insisted not providing ketchup nor mustard but for a good reason. Meat is seasoned to perfection. Dessert, limoncello is a must. Overall, best food so far in my 9day uk trip

I've been to this restaurant several times over the last few days during my holiday in Edinburgh, and I have to say it was one of the nicest and cleanest places I've ever eaten in my life. The staff is very kind and professional. On the last day I was served by an Italian waiter named Baddy: smiling, very nice and friendly. Definitely try meatballs with sauce and pasta all'amatriciana. Very good! An experience to absolutely repeat.

I visited Restaurant on 3rd of October 2024. We went there total 8 people for Dinner. All things were going fine until bill arrived and i have requested restaurant to accept Itison voucher. Waiter has started becoming rude with me and denied to give parcel as a part of my voucher. He has started misbehaving and given us ice-cream in the water glass. I went there with voucher because restaurant has tie up with Itison however they have behaved as if i was asking for discount on my own. Very disappointed. Very rude staff and when i asked for fork and spoon waiter has shouted at me. I had food at restaurant before this experience almost 5 times but going forward would not recommend to anyone because of only this staff behavior.

We were there twice since it was very close to the hotel. The first day we ordered spaghetti carbonara which was delicious and the second day we ordered trufatta and parma pizza which were excellent. We were looking forward to trying the tiramisu, since there weren't any on both days. Perfect value for money. The only drawback for mentioning one is that the smoke extraction is not very good, so we left there smelling a little like frying. Otherwise everything was perfect including the service, which was very kind and friendly. We recommend it 💯

We have been to many restaurants in different parts of the world and it is difficult to remember such a kind, professional and friendly person who made our visit especially pleasant. Good food and welcome especially as we hadn't book but they fitted 5 of us in and said there would be a delay but it was minimal

Absolutely lovely little gem! Our server was outstanding - very friendly, kind, and great with our kids. All our food was delicious, hot, and arrived quickly. Do make reservations! We dined fairly early (reservations at 6.30p on a Monday) and the place was full by the time we left! Highly recommend!

It seems to me that it is run by Italian family. A busy place, and that's probably because the dishes are delicious. It is a small business with few storage options, which you can see around the kitchen and counter. In my opinion, the music could have been a bit quieter. In combination with all the visitors, there is a lot of dB in the store.

Best paccheri alla Siciliana and Tiramisù ever!!! I had this pasta several times and it's never disappointing and today, with the special tiramisù, the head chef went way beyond my expectations. We had a regular Tiramisu wich was delcious as always but the Pistacchio one, was to die for! Thanks Giuseppe for that and the waiting staff who are always very attentive.

The staff were super friendly and good-spirited. It’s been said by another reviewer but to reiterate, best bruschetta we’ve ever had and the pasta was divine. Would definitely check it out!

Placed a take away order, only to show up and they have no record of it. Showed them the online receipt and they put the food together, but the pizza was just bread, no cheese or toppings as it should have had, and the salad was undressed. The gnocchi dish was good enough but not enough to make up for all the other issues in the order.

I’ve always liked this place, and sent many guests, but today they turned me away at 8.30pm. Not acceptable. Closing is listed here on Google as 10pm.

Atmosphere in the restaurant is great. Staff is very busy and rushed and therefore somewhat forgetful. Had to ask for an extra water glass several times (didn't get it). Food was reasonable, carbonara was not very good. Given the rave reviews, it will normally be better organized.

This is wonderful....fabulous pasta and salad and puddings to die for.

Bad experience unfortunately, didn’t match the rating at all. Booked a table for 8.30pm (and bookings were available until 9.30pm). When booking, the restaurant said they gave a 15 minute grace period for late arrivals but to call ahead to let them know if this was the case. Our show overran so we called ahead to let them know. The person answering the phone was rude and said they were waiting to close the kitchen but would take our order straight away when we arrived. We arrived at 8.34pm. Orders weren’t taken for 10-15 minutes. No drinks menu provided. After we’d ordered, food arrived within ten minutes. Other orders were still coming out of the kitchen. Food was mediocre at a push. Carbonara was shocking. If you fancy a creamy soup then I can recommend it. We hastily finished up and waited for the bill, but some staff were drinking and joking amongst themselves while others bleached the kitchen while punters continued to dine. Won’t be back unfortunately.

Fast, compassionate service, good food!

Loved the services here! The waiter will explain and introduce all their dishes to you just so you will get the right idea of what they will be serving. We only had an hour to eat because we didn’t make any reservation but it was more than enough as they serve really quick! Their soup is amazing! Will def come back again!

We ate at this restaurant and it exceeded our expectations. We have eaten in many restaurants in Italy and the quality of this restaurant is very good. The delicious pistachio pesto. The treatment was very friendly and attentive, fast and formal. I recommend it 100%

Not too bad but you can get a much better Italian pizza in many places in Edinburgh. The staff was really nice, I gave them four out of five because they forgot to bring all the food we ordered.

Great discovery at L’Artigiano in Edinburgh. We were looking for a restaurant, not necessarily Italian and what a nice surprise. The atmosphere is welcoming, the pizzas are excellent, cooked to perfection, and the service is impeccable. An address to recommend for an authentic Italian experience.

The Craftsman was a great find in Edinburgh! I recommend making a reservation as it is always quite full. Last reservation 8.30. Kitchen closes at 9. The waiters and all the staff are very kind and attentive. Both the carbonara and the gnocchi with pistachio pesto and burrata were delicious. Sweetie? We chose grandma's cake with lemon cream and pine nuts, which was very good. The pistachio cake isn't bad either. As Italians, we were very satisfied! Well where.

Food was delicious, fresh and really satisfying. Service was prompt and professional. The restaurant is lovely inside and really stylish. A wonderful meal, will absolutely be visiting again!

Arrived on a busy Friday night during the fringe without a booking, luckily the staff were super accommodating and we lucked out (however, I would recommend booking to avoid disappointment as it is a very popular place)! The food curbed my craving for pizza instantly & came out super quick, despite being a full restaurant for the entirety of our meal. The staff are so welcoming, warm and relaxed making our experience that much more enjoyable. Thank you! :)

Excellent experience, we went to lunch with the family, we arrived at the restaurant by chance, from the outside it didn't seem the best since the sign they have, I think it takes away points for how good it is, our Italian waiter was the best! The food Exquisite, minimal waiting time, pleasant atmosphere, looking forward to returning at some point. Completely recommended.

Such a great discovery in Edinburgh! We felt like at home. Tatiana provide us a great stay in this nice Italian restaurant and she made us feel so comfortable both my couple and my 4 years old daughter. We are so greatful. The Parmigiana di melanzane was amazing. We definetely recommend the place!

Booked a table for 7 which was after a graduation, nice restaurant, great roomy seat on the back left side, nice menu and lunch was only £13:50 for 2 course or £15:50 for 3 which was fantastic value and the pizzas were huge and very tasty, I went for bruschetta to start which was a bit small only one bit bread, some others got the meats to start from the lunch menu which was great and I had carbonara which was excellent, even my mum said it was the best she had had. Only one thing for me might be worth listening to customers when we stuck with water and juice for the lunch as I don’t drink alcohol however I was asked at least 4 times even though I said at the start I don’t drink, that’s the only issue even down to the pudding when I was asked if I wanted a limoncello. Same person serving! I will return for lunch as great location and great food.

If you are looking for the best pizza outside of Italy this is your place. Had my parents visiting from Italy and I was looking for a quick dinner near our hotel. This place is an absolute gem, will definitely come back next time I’ll be in Edinburgh

Really great food at this restaurant. It is staffed and ran by Italians so the food is authentic and well cooked. The tables are full throughout the evening, so you really need to book ahead.

Oasis in the desert... my daughter, after 14 days of fasting, called me "moved" to tell me: "mom I ate the best pasta of my entire life"🤣🤣. Hunger certainly contributed but I definitely recommend L'Artigiano if you are nostalgic for Italian cuisine. Good and quality products. Geazie for making my daughter's stay in Edinburgh better.

Yummy food, great service. We tried the Penne Arrabiata, Pesto Gnocchi, Swordfish steak, Margherita Pizza, Soup of the day- Fresh vegetables and Risotto Vegetariano- everything was super fresh and delish.

Really good and tasty food, The service was also really plesant. If you want to eat a really good pizza paying not so big amount of money it is the place for you 😁

Authentic Italian Restaurant Friendly Staff and Tasty Food

Piece of Italy in Edinburgh. Pasta was delicious, cooked to perfection. Staff is very attentive, and service is 5 stars. All orders came out at the same time, and we had a party of 15. It's definitely worth visit.

All the staff were very friendly and the pizzas and pastas sounded great from the menu. I had the milanese which was more like chicken goujons, it was served with no sauce and the only accompaniment was undressed salad leaves. Overall it was quite dry and tasteless, even a little balsamic or Parmesan would have gone a long way. For £14 it was underwhelming

The food was very fresh and delicious. The staff were polite and patient, and you could see that they cooked with love, there is also some gluten free options and the food also comes fast.

A lovely restaurant that we just happened to find on the way back to our hotel. The steaks we had were superb, beautifully seasoned and cooked exactly to our requests, and the hand made deserts were superb. The main waiter who served us was also exceptionally friendly and cheerful, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable. However, we did see a number of people being turned away because the restaurant was full, so if you do fancy a visit it may be wise to book in advance.

The restaurant was very crowded, and even though I had not made a reservation, the server got me a table. The service is fast and the waiters are very helpful and cheerful, despite the heavy crowding My order was a very delicious Margherita pizza👌🏻 Penne arrabbiata is delicious 👌🏻 Potato chips 👌🏻

As good Italians we were very, very satisfied with having had dinner here, my daughter and I had the pizza, very soft dough and very good overall, my wife had spaghetti with mussels, also very good and served very well! My son's gnocchi with pesto and pistachio, these were also very good. The place isn't very big so I recommend making a reservation, we came by at midday to book a table for the evening. Very kind waiters and available for every request. Very good prices!

I have family visiting the area and brought them to L'artigiano twice! We absolutely loved the options available, and I will for sure be back to try everything else on the menu in no time. Buddy served us last night, and he was the most wonderful server. My mum absolutely loved him. He was so kind and gave us all a shot of limoncello as a parting gift since my aunt was leaving the next day. He made our night!

Place was packed and turning away walkins. Would recommend reservations for peak times. Had a nice meal. Service was mixed throughout with drinks a bit slow to arrive and confusion with the order. For food, they didn't seem to have anything I wanted initially available, no steaks! New menu and seemed unprepared. What we had was delicious and perfect portions. Gnocchi Sorrentina, Carbonara as mains were great. Tiramisu and the Lemon Tart were a delight as well. Thank you
