Fantastic find - so welcoming to my young children - excellent waiter and delicious food at a great price. The gnocchi was particularly good and the children’s menu is great value.

Visited L’Artiagano on a Sunday evening whilst staying in an Air BnB nearby. As a couple we had an amazing time and had delicious bruschetta and olives to start and then one of us had pizza and the other pasta and both were delicious. My wife’s tomato sauce which came on the vegetable rigatoni she described as the nicest sauce ever and wanted the recipe. Atmosphere and service were also amazing and at no time felt rushed. Definitely book as lots of people being turned away. Also such good value for money. Thank you and will definitely return.

Ambiance chaleureuse, avec juste ce qu’il faut de variété dans les plats proposés à la carte. On juge souvent la qualité d’un restaurant à l’attention portée aux mets les plus simples, et il se trouve que la pizza Margarita y est excellente. L’ensemble de la carte offre des prix tout à fait abordables. Que demander de plus ?

Decent Italian. Lovely decor however spoiled by staff marching by your table, eyeballing your plate and serving courses as if they want you out as soon as humanly possible. Food was tasty, and extremely reasonable for Edinburgh prices-could have been a great review of not for the waiting skills.

A fantastic meal. Great value for money. We'd reserved (recommended as it was packed when we arrived). Staff prompt & courteous. Lots of fabulous choices to eat & very reasonably priced. 2 starters, 2 mains + 4 alcoholic drinks = <£65 (including tip). Great size portions!

I was away with work and was trying to find somewhere to eat. I was alone, and at 33 years old it was the first time I’d ever walked in to restaurant and eaten alone (very daunting) I first felt so silly and really self conscious but the staff were lovely! I had spaghetti bolognese which was beautiful and I had a really nice time. Saved me getting a take away on my way to the hotel. Highly recommend

We visit l’Artigiano for our family dinners, always great service and friendly staff. Delicious food, esp pasta since I love pasta. And the homemade tiramisu.

I was in town to see my family during the christmas period and was looking for a quality Italian place to eat with my girlfriend. The vibe of the place is very romantic and cosy and the service was very fast and professional with one very well mannered young man serving us. The food was fabulous and there was a large array of cocktails and other drinks to choose from. The food came in good time and the young waiter was very kind checking we had all we needed. As an Italian man myself I will definitely be eating here again soon.

So disappointed by our meal tonight. We booked a meal online for 8.30pm and on arrival were immediately told by our waiter that our starter & main course would “have to be served together as the head chef wanted go home”. Obviously this put a real negative feel on our long anticipated date night meal because we felt totally rushed and unrelaxed. We will DEFINITELY NOT BE RETURNING!! What a shame as the food was good but our experience was absolutely ruined by this attitude. Seeing staff eating their dinner & scrolling on their mobile phones while on a nearby table further ruined our meal!

From reading the reviews this seemed like a great Italian and we decided to book a Friday night date night. However on arrival at 8.30pm we were informed by the young waiter that the Head Chef wanted to go home and they would have to serve our starters and main together. As you can imagine this was a huge surprise given this was a Friday night and our pre booked time was accepted - when we asked to see the manager the waiter then back tracked and confirmed it would ok. Unfortunately we were now conscious that we were holding up the kitchen staff and felt very uncomfortable which meant both courses were completely rushed and disappointing. Also there was staff sitting on a nearby table eating and scrolling through their phones which further ruined the whole experience for a romantic meal. Totally disappointing experience and would not recommend for a later romantic meal- we will choose one of the many other Italian’s restaurants in Edinburgh next time. Hopefully the Owner will take this up with Head Chef for the future of his business going forward. Why work in the hospitality business if you want to be home for 9pm on a Friday night?

Best Italian food. Very well priced. Excellent service. We went back a second time on our trip and both visits were delicious.

This is a traditional family restaurant experienced ladies doing the cooking serving up superb food it’s worth the ten minute walk from Princes Street I had fried courgette flowers with a pumpkin sauce then pappardelle meatballs done the traditional way with a little milk soaked breadcrumbs the wine I’m in heaven Monte guelfo chianti wow say no more .

Arrived in Edinburgh late and needed feeding straight away, L’artigiano was recommended. It did not disappoint, they fitted us in despite being very busy, food was yummy, service excellent. It was so good we returned the following evening, definitely recommend.

We stumbled upon this lovely little restaurant. Truly Italian cuisine, all freshly cooked and really delicious!! My aubergine and mozzarella was stunning and my husband had the lamb chops!!! Clean plates all round.
