First time ordering, and I did so via Just Eat. Showed as 1 hour to deliver, arrived in 25 minutes! Food was hot, freshly cooked, and frankly quite delicious! Will most definitely be ordering again.

Worse chinese we have ever had, curry sauce watery not mixed enough was lumps,pancake rolls small hardly any fillings not cooked properly in middle, barbecue spare ribs sauce runny no flavour ribs under cooked, rice had no peas and different colour rice brown and white rice, very dissatisfied wont use again.

Not happy at all ordered on just eat at 8pm my order said delivered no where to be seen so I rang them took me 10 calls to Finally have the phone answered to me and told me that my food was still in the kitchen and would be another half an hour! Finally got delivered at 10pm and my chicken is pink and chewy! Will NEVER be ordering from here again

Ordered another takeaway via Uber. Arrived on time and food was hot and tasty. Efficient service from these guys... our 3rd order and I have no hesitation in recommending New Lantern.

Went for the first time last week. The staff were very friendly and it’s good food. We went to collect and as situated on a main road, so can be difficult to park. Quite a few delivery drivers, so that seemed like a good sign. Will be coming back.

Ordered this for the first time ever this evening, was delivered within 20 minutes of ordering on just eat, was hot the driver was friendly and it was all lovely! No grease or fatty bits! Would definitely order again!

Please stay away from this Chinese. My disabled daughter & support worker just went there to Oder dinner, the staff member who served her was so rude, showed no empathy for people with disabilities. My daughter left in tears without her order. Will definitely not recommend. Go elsewhere for better service! You should be ashamed of yourself!

Made an order to new lantern in Maidstone through Deliveroo, after thinking about trying somewhere new to our usual to try something different - what a mistake! First the Diet Pepsi 1.5L bottle I ordered wasn’t even delivered…I put a note on Deliveroo to please leave the onions out of the duck chow mein and it arrived with HEAPS of onions…lastly, the duck chow mein didn’t even have duck in it, it was beef chunks!! I called up to ask about the missing Diet Pepsi and was told they had none - so they just left it out the order and didn’t deliver it at all and when I said about the note I put about the onions, the lady told me that they didn’t get it their side…end of convo, not even an offer to change it, considering it wasn’t my fault if Deliveroo didn’t pass it through. One positive is that the lady did offer to drop off the drink and asked if I’d like a different choice, but it would have been nice to actually have the right food order in the first place. The food was mediocre and disappointing that the meat wasn’t even right. I think we’ll be sticking to Chopsticks going forward.

My wife and I always enjoy New Lantern as they dont put MSG in the food. They are lovely people on the phone and the food is brilliant. Not always on time but worth the wait in my opinion.

Always have our takeaways from the New Lantern, never had an issue, great food, always warm, and always very quick (we are fussy but New Lantern never lets us down)

The rice tasted like microwave rice, the sauce was thin and had no flavour, the duck and pork was chewy and salty. Not impressed I’m afraid.

WORST TAKEOUT EXPERIENCE EVER. Just ordered duck pancakes through Uber Eats. The pancakes arrived without the vegetables and the hoisin sauce. Tried to call the restaurant to ask them to send a replacement. They accused my of lying (why would I lie about the vegetables?!) and eventually blocked my number. Extremely rude and the ‘boss’ refused to speak to us and eventually blocked our number. Additionally, the pancakes we received were not steamed properly. One side of the pancakes were still hard. The restaurant refused to listen about this. Just awful awful awful.

Thought I would treat myself to a Chinese for a change but I’m severely regretting it today after the disappointment I received. I’ve woken up this morning feeling rough with an upset stomach. All the food was over cooked or greasy, have requested a full refund from just eat. Don’t waste your time

I'm VERY frustrated with this place! Gradually they've gotten WORSE and WORSE! Today I've received TOUGH and nearly impossible to chew beef with hardly any water chestnuts in it and UNCOOKED veg, mixed veg rice as you can see with just a few bits of cheap salad in it or Chinese cabbage, few tiny strings of carrot and 2 slices of green pepper and all vegetables were UNCOOKED on the top of that! And honestly it looks and tastes like them brown microwave Lidl rice!!! Also chilli Shredded beef was a horrible mess, when you open the box a massive smell off acid hits your nose and it looks pale as hell. Not nice dinner, EXTREMELY LOW quality food delivered and I will never in a million years order from them again. There's PLENTY of other places to choose from.

Ordered via Uber Eats Really disappointed. Food was bland. Really old, soggy chillies in the salt and pepper ribs. sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style had no flavour, chicken so small it was over cooked, veggies were hard and underdone. Tasteless rice. Soft not crispy duck, very little cucumber. It was just all very underwhelming and not one redeeming feature

1st time ordered from New Lantern. I would strongly suggest to ignore the negative reviews. This is the best chinese I found so far, tried out almost all of them around Maidstone. I ordered Beef in ginger & spring onion and Mixed seafood in Malaysian Sambal Sauce. Both the dishes were tasty and really good portion. Probably would suggest to make the beef bit more tender, otherwise had great flavour.They serve halal beef, which is amazing. Would definitely like to suggest for serving halal chicken.I would surely order from here in future. Food was hot and fresh and delivered within the time suggested during delivery.

Ignore all low score reviews, best Chinese in the area by far! I’ve been a regular for a few years now and when I moved to Maidstone I tried out a few different Chinese takeaways and these guys are by far the best and know exactly what they are doing. Fresh and flavorful food that is always hot, Salt and pepper king prawns are a must try! My order is always delicious and delivered within good time. Can’t say enough how good these guys are, give them a try !! The review score is a joke to be honest and by the looks of it, it’s just down to Ubereats messing up.

Was so greasy, had a hair in my rice also. Chicken wings are like chewing on a rubber pipe full of grease. Satay sauce was amazing but everything else including the hair wasn’t nice at all.

Worse Chinese I've had for a long time! Ordered a Chicken curry and special fried rice. Rice had the smallest pieces of meat and prawns I've ever seen mixed into brown cooked rice! and the curry was a off putting shade of yellowy brown! And what looked like a brown onion piece. I ordered from New Lantern last night, and after my food was already about a hour late, I called them up to see where it was and they said that they weren't going to be able to deliver to me. I ordered through Just Eat and they said they would process a refund immediately, but they still haven't, and have not got in touch with me. So, in essence, they've charged me for food I never got, and haven't even bothered to get in touch with me again regarding the progress of my refund.

Just had my chicken curry and special fried rice and chips wow tasted so good. Definitely order again. I’ve passed that Chinese shop so many times I’ve never seen it. 10/10. No pics as forgot lol.

I made an order for the first time via Uber Eats and New Lantern. Both experiences are shockingly bad. Original order time was 60-70 mins. After 110 mins I called to ask where the food was. They said 15 mins away. After a further 25 mins I called back only for them to say 3 mins away. I said I want a refund as waiting 135 mins for an order is unacceptable. They cancelled the order and still took the money. Uber Eats have no help to try to fix this. Both are unprofessional establishments. Keep clear of both.

Ordered for 2 via Uber Eats app. Meal arrived 15 mins past latest estimated time so no real issue here. Food was hot, tasty and good portions. I have ordered before from here and always good and efficient service and food quality never disappointed. This is our favourite Chinese.

Wish I had a read through the reviews before ordering via just eat. Placed order at 8pm, order didn’t arrive till 11pm and was cold!

Best Chinese around. Quick delivery. Order the same meal with wife and food always on point. Very approachable staff (even over phone). Suggest duck with Chinese mushrooms and bamboo shoots, and Singapore fried noodle large. Large enough to last for two meals (days). Chilli beef also a favourite - however wish had larger portion.

Unfortunately, after ordering from this take away I will not be using them again. My delivery turned up as I was standing at the kitchen window, I witnessed the passenger get out of the car and vandalise the picket fence opposite by ripping off a no parking sign and breaking the fence. The delivery girl laughed thinking it was funny. I confronted both of them and the passenger tried palming it off. His IQ clearly showing On the same level as a newt. Absolutely fuming. New lantern needs to look at who it’s hiring.

I ordered 3 king prawn fried rice however, the rices were not done but soggy and taste bad. Called to let the restaurant know and the person that picked the phone was rude.

Ordered a very small delivery at 6.25pm. Eventually demanded a refund at 8.30pm. It should not take 2 hours to put together a beef dish and some rice! The lady on the phone very apologetic but no excuse for this delay. Looking at other reviews, if you want to order from this place do it at least two hours in advance.

I ordered vegetarian dishes from New Lantern on 15 May 2022 but found what appeared to be a large piece of chicken or pork in my vegetable fried rice. Needless to say, I did not eat the food and emailed the restaurant informing them of the issue, including pictures and requesting a refund. I received no response so I sent a follow up email on 24 May. It is now 3 June and I have still not received any response or refund. If you are vegetarian I would be very wary of ordering from this takeaway.

Have a chinese probley once a month from here and the food is always good . Very good Defenatly recommend

Possibly the worst takeaway........ again like reviwer before i wish I'd read reviews rather than just eat, arrived 25 mins early than requested Time and it is cold. If you like chicken and onion for a kung po chicken you would be in luck. Had salt n chilli prawns there's more batterer than prawn, portions are very small. I did try calling and explaining I am unhappy they said that's our recipe and hung up.

Wished I’d read the reviews before ordering! Ordered at 6.15pm via Justeats was told food would be here for 7.40 (quite a wait already) which I thought ok. 7.40 came and went at 8pm I tried calling the restaurant but just said the mailbox was full and couldn’t take calls mmm great! Tried to go through Justeats app but that’s as useless as a chocolate teapot and got no where. My phone pinged a message that food was on its way but after another 30 mins nothing had arrived. No idea what was going on couldn’t get through to the shop, Justeats has no communication apart from stupid unhelpful menu/questions that don’t even cover half the problems you have. I’d spend £50 on food and now the app was saying the food had been delivered at 7.40 eh? So in the end we drove to the shop spoke a young woman who had loads of orders to go out on the counter and looked extremely flustered. Surprise my order was sitting in the kitchen so who knows when I would have got it probably tomorrow for breakfast! Terrible, terrible service over 3hours to get our food which we ended up collecting in the end. Please don’t take orders if you can’t keep up with demand, use better drivers and communicate with customers. You’re quick enough to take our money but not provide a good enough service! 👎 Justeats are just as rubbish I’ll be deleting that app as well!

Ordered via Uber eats. Estimated delivery time 21:10-21:30. It’s 22:13 and still not here. Called the restaurant who said the driver had just left, 20 mins later I still had no delivery. This was my first time ordering from here and I will not be ordering again.

2 hour wait on food and food was not that great either. Don’t bother unless you are not that hungry. Was told it would be 40 mins.

Every single time I give these the benefit of the doubt they mess up time and time again. Havent ordered since November 2020 when after 2.5 hours my food still wasn't here so I cancelled the order. Excuses were its being cooked, 20 mins..then to find out it still hadn't been cooked. Ordered today at 7pm... 2 hours later STILL not here, same excuses as last time. I will not be ordering from here again and I would say avoid at all costs unless you have 3 hours to waste waiting for your dinner. Terrible service. AVOID. And you're only getting 1 star as I can't leave zero!

Delivery time OK, and food was hot - satay skewers were as dry as a flip flop, didn't eat them in the end. and rice was just really bland. Chowmien was nice though nevertheless.

So yesterday I wrote a review via another app but you have hidden it I just do not know why. So I am writing here now.. it was not the first order from you and always we were always very satisfied with the quality of food and the delivery is always super fast. Yesterday we got our food early again, the driver was excellent, the food smelled good. But unfortunately the flavour was not the same like before: watery noodles, raw carrots and bitter after-taste mixed with not fresh taste. I am sorry if you are hurt but to grow a business you need to accept critical reviews and not to be so coward that you hide a comment.

Absolutely disgusting,after waiting nearly two hours for my food to be delivery and I phone them directly the New Lanter did not know when would my order be delivered. We was promised that our food would be delivered between 40 minutes to a 1 hour,that was before the payment was made,after they took my payment I was told that they was not sure when the order would be delivered due to the lack of drivers??? I wish they shared that information before taking my money.

Ordered via Uber Eats. The food took over 2 hours to be delivered. Tried contacting the restaurant many times to get an update on the delivery and no one was picking up the phone, then it just said the mailbox was full. The delivery driver never apologised. Wouldn't recommend

Ordered via Deliveroo and told it would be about 80 minutes. Fair enough, but no updates despite a further hour with no food. Tried to phone them to find out where the food was only for them to hang up. Deliveroo were equally useless and simply blamed the restaurant and suggested we should just wait. Won’t be ordering from them or Deliveroo again.

Order was very late, then when it did arrive, the vegetarian mushroom rice had chicken in it. Restaurant didn't even apologise when i called, just said they were very busy. Wont be using again.

Ordered from here tonight at 7:00pm and our food was meant to be with us by 8:15pm. At 9:00pm the food still wasn't here. My partner rang the restaurant and the girl on the phone was nice and very apologetic and said it was the next order leaving and it will be with us by 9:15pm. At 9:40 it still wasn't here so we rang up again, the girl on the phone was shocked as it left the restaurant just gone 9:00pm. We wanted to cancel but she got hold of the driver who said he's nearly here so they wanted us to hold on and wait. The driver finally turned up at 9.50pm (2 hours 50 mins) later! And didn't event apologise for the delay. Food was cold and didn't enjoy it. Will not be ordering again!

Great meal! First time recommended by friend - good tasty chinese, nice al dente veg, substantial and nicely done! Could tell what every dish was not like some other chineses where all food tastes the same and is mushy.

Ordered on Uber eats and found it to be quite expensive so my expectations were high. How anyone can say this place is good is baffling, rice was like porridge, Singapore noodles had a powder like texture,funny smelling chicken,empty odd smelling pancake rolls the prawn crackers were the best part, I've had some bad Chinese in my time but congratulations to new lantern,you've taken the title.

Typical case of should have read the reviews. Our usual Chinese was closed so ordered through just eat. Greasy, small portions, simply just not.very nice. Save your money and go elsewhere!

Review on service, not food. hour and a half into waiting for our order we called the restaurant who's number doesn't work through just eat website. Told us it would be another 30minute wait before it even left the kitchen, but not before telling a customer inside the restaurant that the order they were about to make will only take 20-25minutes. Can't review directly on just eat as we cancelled the order, it only lets you review completed orders, brushed off by just eat live chat and was told to leave feedback elsewhere, so here it is.

Took over 2 hours to arrive , was tasteless and poor quality. Tried phoning multiple times and was always line busy. Ridiculous ,don't order from them.

2 Hours and 40 Minutes....... My normal go to Chinese takeaway so I was very surprised that my food arrived 2 hours and 40 minutes after I ordered. I can appreciate that the weekend are busy but when you order at 6.30 and don’t get to eat until 9.10, it will now make me think once about ordering again. The food is pretty good but this will now make me go elsewhere for Chinese food as I’m not sure how you can prevent this from happening again

Food ordered around 1900 for a 1945 expected delivery. At 2030 the food still hadn't left the takeaway and we were told it would be leaving in the next 20 minutes. We have cancelled the order and have no food at 2100. Its a shame as I use to order from here a lot.

ordered our dinner at 7 ..I understand everyone is busy but took 2 hours to receive it ...my husband phoned them and was told there would be no refund only a discount when we order again...the girl who answered the phone said our order was still in the kitchen waiting but tried to reasure us it would be hot and would put in a drink and something else .. when it arrived 2 hours later I had to put it in the microwave as was luke warm the food certainly did not all look like what we had ordered. on phoning again the girl said the food was cooked fresh and was hot... we live 5 minutes up the road and are not liars ..will deff not be ordering from there again or will we be recomending them .

Avoid: We ordered chicken balls and was given pork balls instead, it wasn’t until we started eating them that we realised. Called the restaurant and was told that there must of been a mistake. If you eat Halal then this would of been terrible for you. Avoid this place.

Quality of food was poor. Salt and pepper chicken was so over cooked you couldn't even tell it was chicken. Chips soggy, rice dry. The chicken chow me in was OK, but we won't be ordering from there again.

We ordered two hours before we wanted the food delivered, but it was still late. The food was tasty and I would use the restaurant again, but we've had better. The Singapore noodles were very tasty but we've had better crispy beef and chicken with cashews in a yellow bean sauce. The food was hot when delivered and we will try it again.

First time ordering arrives ok small bag of prawn crackers sweet and sour sauce like water and only half a tub full food very hot and spicey Phone up to complain oh we sorry about that did offer another sauce but declined as didn't want to wait longer I'm sorry I wont be ordering again

Was my meal coming directly from China!? Ordered through Just Eat. Was meant to arrive at 7.15pm. Nothing, tried to contact line permanently engaged. Waited until 8.15 to cancel and still not able to get hold of them. Luckily I ordered through Just Eat and could get a full refund. Walked around the corner and picked up a chinese within 20 mins of ordering (used Wok U Like, I’d go there if I was you)Will never be ordering here again as you can’t get hold of them. I appreciate there’s a pandemic on and they are busy but to just leave customers hungry and with no explanation up to an hour after it was meant to arrive is disgusting in my book. If they can’t handle the influx of orders maybe they should re-think their strategy. Food no doubt would have been stone cold by the time it came and inedible.

Very busy understandably due to lockdown so had to wait hour and a half for delivery. However we were told at time of ordering of the delay. Worth waiting for as food was obviously freshly cooked and delightful. Will reuse but perhaps order early taking into consideration the wait..

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE. We placed our order at 6:50, at 20:05 we saw on Just Eat that the food had left. At 20:50 it still hadn’t arrived 2 hours after ordering. I called only to be told it hadn’t even been cooked yet! Lots of excuses blaming just eat, and they were busy. Learn to pic up the phone and let your customers know there is a big delay. This is the first time I tried this take away, it will be the last. Back to Chopsticks.

So frustrating that a call or any communication would have been nice. Please avoid as the food isn't great even when waiting nearly 3 hours for it.

Great service and food everytime, best in maidstone. A very happy regular customer, but shame cant use card payments though
