Had a fantastic lunch here today. We had fish burger and chicken burger. They were delicious. Fantastic size, came with fries and coleslaw. Lovely staff, very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Sunday lunch here. Food was lovely. Desserts were a little of a let down. Creme brulee needed a little longer to torch the sugar, would have been a standout dish if not for this! Eton mess was fruity, but did not look appetising (sorry).

A superb pub with friendly and attentive staff. Been here many times and booked a 40th birthday lunch here for 25 people - every one of whom said how much they enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Decent drinks selection and some real gems on the menu. Sunday menu a little pricier to account for the roasts (had the pork belly is delicious and worth the £20). Good parking out front and some tables in the sun and shade, front and back, for those al fresco. Kid friendly with menu choice snd a nice climbing frame to muck about.

3 of us visited here for lunch all had fish and chips when it arrived it was nicely presented on a triangle plate chips were very thick if you like them like that fish was quite small in batter not like some other pubs and mine was not covered properly a little salad none of us ate it not great,staff were very good and polite not a very good menu should have had a lot more on it will not return

Really nice LOOKING pub/bar, but everything is lacklustre. Service was very very slow, took the staff 15 minutes to take drinks order (at the bar) & food itself took 1 hour and 20mins. The day wasn’t busy at all, 10-15 people in there other then us. Once the food came it’s was poor, southern fried chicken wrap was tiny, 2 tiny wraps and a side of cold greasy fries…£15. Two portions of fish and chips, large portions but absolutely no flavour in any of it, again along side cold pub chips. Tartar sauce with no flavour, basically just mayonnaise. Wagyu burger, £20! Awful, patties mushy aswell as the soggy onion rings inside it. I’ve had better for less then half the price. Can’t miss the flat pints of coke either. All tables are the same size aswell, none suitable for parties more then 4, so requires squeezing someone in at the end of the table. Not suitable for elderly or disabled either, no hand rails, steep step’s everywhere. All in all a poor experience, won’t be revisiting.

Stumbled on this pub which sits opposite the main gates to Bowood House on the way home from Stonehenge. The lunch menu was limited but enough of a selection to make us ponder.i settled for fish and chips and it was very tasty as was the sticky toffee pudding for desert. Worth a visit.

Fantastic roast dinner. Amazingly tender beef, with the most delicious gravy. Even my fussy daughter loved the kale, and I ate the parsnips!!! Staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Dogs welcome in front half of the pub, loads of room as tables aren't squashed together. Not cheap, but worth every penny

Exceptional food - the chef has stamped their personality on the menu, from Asian inspired small plates like the chilli pork to pub classics like the chicken burger, which was coated in a herb rub and sandwiched between two toasted buns finished with a garlic butter and avocado. Hearty pub food with finesse, served in generous portions but still leaving room for a pint or two afterwards. The new owners are passionate about this historic pub and I wish them the very best. If you’re visiting nearby Bowood then make sure you stop off here.

Fantastic food and a good little pub.

Booked a table for 3 on a Saturday night. Starter of whitebait described a crispy fish, was very crispy and over cooked. Unfortunately there was a very large party in for a 70th birthday celebration. This meant that our mains took a bit longer than expected. Staff very polite and attentive. Didn’t help that when we left the main road into Chippenham was closed so we had to go home via Melksham adding half an hour plus to our journey. Not the pub’s fault obviously!

Popped in on a winter Saturday lunchtime just as they'd opened. Plenty of room in the car park. Seated straight away in the main bar with a log fire going. Nice range of food, although the specific lunch menu wasn't available. Thoroughly enjoyed the soup of the day. Drinks were reasonably priced. Staff were helpful and friendly. Will definitely visit again. It is dog friendly and there are also childrens options on the menu.

First visit since the new management (as we heard Old Timer was in) - and what fabulous food (along with the superb friendly service). feels harsh marking down atmosphere as it was very quiet at the end of new year’s day service - but i’m sure it was much busier in the afternoon. highly recommended - for beer & food 👍

We visited because they were serving Old Timer - the Wadworth seasonal beer. We decided to eat, too, and were very impressed with our food. We learnt that the pub was 4 months into new ownership. Will definitely return.

Bowood Spa Dining Club, 20.12.2024: The Lansdowne Arms' Evening Festive Menu was absolutely excellent & this was the best festive meal the Dining Club had eaten there over the past 6 years. Their Chef is extremely talented and the staff were welcoming and friendly, the attention to detail was supurb both regarding the food itself and it's presentation, the service we received also being of excellent quality and most professional. Good parking was available for our Designated Drivers & very clean lavatories were provided which were presented in good condition. However it was a shame upon asking that the pub would not provide one free soft, low or no alcohol drink to our Designated Drivers in line with other Wadworth Pubs/Policy. We hope to return. 🎄

The food here really is fantastic. The staff, the atmosphere and the location are all welcoming and we'll be here again soon.

Stopped for a Sunday roast on our way home after a long drive. Delicious food, great service and a delicious espresso martini to finish off.

Not a good welcome at reception. However, Risotto was excellent.

Highly recommend the Lansdowne Pub! The pub is at the most beautiful location, food was excellent, this was the best steaks we have ever had! Chef Mohan is extremely talented and the service from all the staff Sidney, Hemant and Ella was first class! So welcoming and friendly, the attention to detail was next level with the food and the service. We will definitely be back soon!

Everyone's meals were tasty well cooked and presented very well. The team were very friendly and attentive. So glad The Lansdowne Arms is back to being a great pub again.

Quick visit here on the way home when hungry and didn’t disappoint. Welcomed and got a table straight away, the menu was small but pleasant. We had Caesar salad and a wrap both really tasty and flavourful. The young gentlemen who served us was so lovely and helpful nothing seemed too much to help us! We’ll be coming back here for sure.

I highly recommend this pub. The food and service quality is truly exceptional. Laid back atmosphere. The pub is under new management and they are doing an excellent job. Kudos to them and I will definitely visit again!

The Lansdowne recently provided the refreshments after my lovely mum's funeral. The food and service were absolutely stunning. They looked after us so well and nothing was too much trouble. So many compliments from the family and friends who attended. We will be back . Sid and Hemant and their team made a hard day so much easier to cope with, we can't thank them enough .

I was passing by and nipped in. When I first saw prices I thought it was very expensive but you get what you pay for. The food was lovely and the youth behind the bar has brillant customer service skills, would recommend to nip in for food if you're passing by!

After going for a walk at Bowood House we came here for some food. It was sooo tasty!! Everything on my plate was full of flavour, I had the chicken supreme and my boyfriend and the beef burger we were both saying how tasty our food was and we look forward to coming back again! The staff were very friendly also! 😊

Nice Waddies pub with good food and beer.

The chicken supreme was amazing. Tender moist and on a bed of flavourful mashed potatoes. Service was also excellent and attentive. Great place to stop for dinner.

Under new ownership, this pub was recommended by our hosts as we are staying on holiday nearby. The staff were welcoming, attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant and there was ample choice of different places to sit - we opted for a sheltered spot in the sunny garden. We had the chicken burger and steak wrap, both of which exceeded expectations- the meat in both was delicious. A decent portion of chips came along with both dishes. Thank you for a lovely lunch, we will be back in future.

Kyle was very attentive as soon as we entered the building. All staff very friendly . Food and service first class, wine recommendation 👌 Kyle was very professional and accomodated all our wishes, from table preference, candle, and service. An asset to the establishment which is heading in a great direction of first-class service.

This gorgeous village pub has had a rocky life many ups and downs as reflected by the reviews if you scroll back. But it now has NEW OWNERS. Yay. They are so lovely and the food is delicious. The chef is super talented wait until you see what he can do! They brought out a beautifully decorated plate and pudding for my birthday. So so happy to see our lovely pub fulfilling its potential. Can't wait to see what additional plans you have in store.

A delightful old fashioned pub, situated just outside Bowood Park at Derry Hill. I popped in for a refreshing cold one after walking around Bowood. The outside area is nicely set up to relax. Staff very polite . Will return for a meal at some stage as from what I could see was popular for meals.

I recently visited the Lansdowne Arms for the first time in a while for lunch with my family, on a Wednesday in March. The pub was virtually empty besides a long table who had already received their meals. We were greeted (I say that lightly) by two male members of staff who were far from dynamic, with incredibly poor customer service, and if anything, looked unhappy at the sight of customers. We were seated, and drinks were ordered and delivered promptly. We were given an extremely lack of choice with a reduced small portions menu, which was not advertised on the website as the only menu available on a Wednesday. We then waited a further 30 minutes for someone to return and take our meal order, despite the pub being having very few customers. Both staff members were floating behind the bar doing not very much as dst as we could see, with one of them popping outside with a colourful vape in his hand! We became bored of waiting and eventually had to approach the bar to order our food. Although the food then arrived fairly quickly and was of a reasonable standard, we were all extremely disappointed at the lack of atmosphere, poor customer service from what seemed to be substandard staff, that I had not encountered on previous visits. I will not be returning any time soon unless those staff members front of house on that day have had some serious training on customer service as they are clearly not cut out for customer facing roles. It is very sad that what was a lovely pub has clearly gone downhill in recent months. In future I will be taking my custom elsewhere to The Pewsham as they clearly have much more consideration for their customers.

We had a Mother's day lunch for 4 people. Lovely Sunday roast at reasonable prices and the staff were very friendly from the moment we arrived. Great service!

Food was lovely, the service was great. I really liked that we asked for a high chair in the booking notes and there was one at the table. Often we go places and have to ask again when we arrive. Nice and relaxed meal even with a small child.

I booked a table for the family and arrived at 12.30, to a fairly empty restaurant. It took an hour for an order to be taken and starters to arrive. After a further half hour the main courses hadn’t arrived. We had to chase them twice to then receive an apology with a glib statement that there was only one chef preparing food for a full restaurant. If you don’t have the staff you should highlight the wait at the beginning and turn away walk -ins. We declined to order sweets as having spent 2 hours and 15 minutes already, at the table we needed to get home. The failings were accepted by the manager giving us 15% discount, which was thoroughly inadequate compensation for such poor service. Our waiter was dressed in a hoody.

Organised a 12-person Xmas lunch from a distance, the team were friendly and accommodating and the food was great and the service really welcoming. Recommended!

Had a wonderful family Christmas meal tonight, food and services were both spot on. Definitely recommend, we were greeted with a nice friendly atmosphere and service was non intrusive but attentive to our needs. Thanks for providing a wonderful night full of memories.

I like this place and the food is good. Not as pricey as it looks.

I have been intermittently visiting this place for 25 years whenever I'm in the area. However, this recent visit for Sunday lunch has left me with no desire to come back. The service was extremely apathetic, with a "couldn't care less" attitude, and the quality of the food was just average. The Sunday roast vegetables were overcooked, and we had to personally go to the bar to order additional drinks and desserts since the waiting staff completely ignored us. The pavlova was simply a store-bought meringue case filled with some jam and cream, lacking any special touch that could have been easily replicated by anyone at home. It's a pity because I have enjoyed some incredible meals at this place over the years. However, the new owners need to elevate their service and food quality to create an environment that people would be eager to revisit.

Took my aunt for Sunday lunch for her 83rd birthday. Lovely place, it has an old time but airy feel. They don't try pack in too many tables, as some places do, so gives a very relaxed and comfortable feeling. The staff were very friendly but seemed a little run off their feet. Food was good, everyone liked what they got, kids loved their food too, (not always a given). All in all, it was a very nice afternoon, we will return.

Had a meal here thinking it would still be the same great food but unfortunately they changed hands and managed by new people.The food wasn't very nice. There wasn't much portions for the value of your money. It felt like you are just paying for an empty plate Sat on a cold table.We used to like coming here a lot but we will not be returning any more witch is very sad. We will go elsewhere for our meals and get good value for are money and tasty food What is wrong with the (Lansdown Arms) Don't get value for money in the food. Some items was not available on the menu. Overpriced. Portions of food not enough off.

Excellent quick food within reach of stunning countryside, good selection of beers (tiny rebel especially excellent) and possibly the best fish and chips I've had locally!

I’ve been here for Sunday lunch in the past & they had a GF menu. Not this time. Unless I wanted a roast my choices were fish & chips, burger & chips or ham, egg & chips. No salads on the menu at all so if you are GF & eating healthy don’t come here on a Sunday! Also the background music was loud & not chill considering the clientele eating there. I love Queen but is it what I want to listen too during a relaxing lunch although they did turn it down on request. Disappointing.

I turned up on a weekday evening without having booked but food was still being served. The girls behind the bar were lovely, service with a friendly smile and attitude. The beer was great and the sticky toffee pudding is a must have! Sat in the garden and overall a lovely vibe

Sehr schönes und authentisches Pub in Derry Hill!! Tolles, uriges Gebäude mit toller Aussicht (im Außenbereich) auf den Sonnenuntergang. Das Essen war sehr gut und lecker und dankenswerterweise auch lokal. Nette Betreiber und daher sehr zu empfehlen!
