A bit hit and miss, but fine for me on a 2 night stay. Got a spot in the main car park, having been told in advance by the hotel/booking.com that it was 1st come 1st served and £10 extra per night. Lovely guy on reception checked me in. Bar service great, plenty of comfy seating to chill out. Had food on the first night, mackerel pate very good, but fish and chips very disappointing, restaurant dark and a bit dingy, menus were battered and grubby (seriously you've got to get new ones). Ate out on the 2nd night. Room decent size, everything you need, plenty of lights and plug sockets, nice biscuits. Bathroom all worked fine, decent walk in power shower with plenty of hot water. Room does get hot so turned the rads off. Bed very comfy, windows/curtains did their job re noise and light, slept really well once the noisy get in the next room stopped talking loudly to his partner (couldn't hear her). Bedroom carpets do need changing. Walked down into Bath, only 10 mins but a steep hill. I'm nearly 60, very overweight, but I do walk a lot, managed the walk back up (after 8 miles of walking during the day) but it was strenuous, just get an Uber or the PR31 bus if you think you'll struggle. On the whole it was worth the price and I would stop here again, but would expect to see some progress/money spent on obvious things.

We only stayed for one night, but wish it was more as we had a lovely time here. The service from the staff was exceptional. The hotel is located just outside of Bath town centre and has plenty of parking. Food was really tasty and the hotel was clean and cosy. Would absolutely recommend this hotel!

Good location. Nice on the main floor, entrance, bar, dining room, but once upstairs hallways are tired. Needs some attention and new carpets. Rooms good size, bathroom had some black mould that needs treating, and bin replaced. Would stay again.

Had a one night stay here, the rooms are nice and spacious however it seems the cleaning staff did not do a good job as I found hair in the bed and items left by other people underneath it (which includes some dirty underwear) Atmosphere of the hotel is nice though and it's got everything you need

Lovely hotel inside and out, very clean and welcoming. Our room was lovely, beds were comfy and staff very helpful. Great price for breakfast included too. Only downsides were it's up a large hill and you have to pay for the parking and it's restricted times.

Worst hotel experience! First turned up to no parking in the hotel car park and was told to park on the permitted road meaning we had to leave our stay early in order to not get a ticket. When we arrived we were told it was a first come first basis on the parking which is not stated anywhere on the website. And finally we was woken up at 7:30am to builders outside our window which we was also not told about when booking our stay or arriving at the hotel! The cleaner also came into our room an hour and 15 minutes before check out time with her own key while we was still in there! Over all just an awful experience would never stay again.

Hotel was lovely and room very spacious however the room was like a furness so hot we couldnt sleep ,we were not allowed to open windows or curtains due to scaffolding being up. after still being awake at half past 3 in the morning & finally falling asleep we were woken at half past 8 by the workmen outside our room starting to take scaffolding down. I could not ring through to reception so had to grin & bare it but the hotels response was i should of made them aware so i could of been given fans. I wouldnt of been walking down to reception in my nightware thats for sure. After paying nearly £140 for a room i wouldnt stay again.

My sister & I have stayed at The Lansdown for the past three years & very much look forward to continuing this for many years to come. A lovely countrtfied hotel that takes you back to a time when people with good taste had regard for their suroundings & the staff who endevour to cater for their every need. Althouh the hotel has a large number of rooms , stairs & corridors, they have kept the ambience of the upperclass country house feel.

The hotel is absolutely not worth its stars and money. We booked this hotel because we had had a good stay there 5 years earlier, but since then it has really deteriorated. The rooms look nice in photos, but in reality it is completely different. The rooms are old and cannot be heated properly. The hotel is generally not in good condition. The fire extinguishers are loose on the ground in the corridors, and fallen leaves from the trees are scattered around the entrance to the car park. The breakfast is meager and pricey and the quality is substandard. The hotel is beautifully situated on the hill with a beautiful view over Bath, although only for the rooms at the front. Unfortunately, the hotel is also located along a busy road with a lot of passing traffic. The room had not been properly cleaned upon our arrival, the rubbish bins had not been emptied, there was no information available on how to reach reception, the towel rack was hanging half loose from the wall, the room door was dragging and urgently needed to be repainted. . When we returned to our room on the 2nd evening, water was pouring from the ceiling, causing major water damage to our personal belongings. We were then assigned a spare room and the insufficient maintenance status of the hotel was also clearly noticeable there. When we asked about compensation for the damage suffered, an evening meal in the hotel restaurant was offered. We had agreed with family so this was not an option for us. They could not or did not want to provide anything else, supposedly because we had not booked directly through the hotel but through booking.com. Sad and real no respect for customers at all.

This is a nice hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are nice and pretty well maintained with only a few negatives I could point out such as stains on the carpets. The staff are accommodating and very friendly upon arrival. The one thing that really disappoints here is the breakfast. At £24 it is completely overpriced for what you get as it is a standard breakfast with standard produce which you would find at any basic chain hotel. I also found that the staff serving breakfast were not around to serve resulting in a long wait to be seated and a que forming but overall a nice place.

I was able to get the room at a relatively reasonable price and this hotel is the reason why my 4 nights stay in Bath was better than my 8 nights stay in London. I just loved the cleanliness, especially of the carpets as they regularly vacuum. The bathroom was spacious.

A great hotel, in a very old mansion. When you're there the first time, it looks like a maze when you get inside. Very nice, authentic and old, beautifully decorated. The staff is friendly. The rooms are good, clean and the beds are fine. Nothing to complain about. The breakfast is very tasty. One downside: The overnight oats that you can order from the menu are way too sweet!

Don’t do it. Go somewhere else. We found a great deal for a last minute booking. We were excited, as the hotel looked great. It is at the top of a very steep hill. I am currently on crutches. We arrived slightly early for our room and asked to check in. Abi (not sure on spelling) was incredibly blasé and not hugely interested. Some welcome water or the like would be helpful after the journey. We went into the lounge to wait. Not massively comfortable as there is the strange choice to play loud house music through the speakers of the reception in the afternoon. After the other receptionist, didn’t get his name, but super surly, checked other guests straight in, we were able to go to our room. Those guests the surly man put in front of us were significantly more able bodied than us. He finally grumpily made us feel unwelcome to check in. We had booked and paid for a twin room and had been put in a double. We called down to Abi, he suggested this weren’t true and made us wait to go and check his records. When he found out we were right, he brought the key up. We were not impressed to be put into one of very few rooms - couldn’t see any others on our floor that had a step up to get into the room. The room did not have the city view booked and smelt weird. We were even further annoyed that in the room, every time we wanted to go the toilet, I had to hobble up and down a large and steep further step. We couldn’t handle any more poor attitude so tried to rest vs fight for yet another room. Tricky as the room was so darn noisy and hot. I dread to think what summer would be like. There was no aircon or fan in our room. You can clearly hear any person walking past on the corridor or in the rooms above. With all the extra work on my busted ankle, we thought we’d have dinner at the hotel restaurant. Sadly I am lactose intolerant, not a lifestyle choice, it makes me really sick. I asked the waiter to help me with the menu. Incredibly awkward, instead of saying, let me ask the chef, a colleague or any other acceptable choice when you don’t know, he proceeded to recommend choices that I pointed out included lactose. We lost all trust with the restaurant and had to order an Uber eats and sit in our room. There are so many better choices in Bath, pick one and have a much better time!

Popped in to Broad Street Townhouse to try their cocktails on Friday after watching some live music in the Pig and Fiddle. BSTH had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the new tea and coffee themed cocktails were really good! Had a wonderful time catching up with an old friend and having a good natter. Will definitely return! Didn't stay in the rooms so couldn't review those.
