Landour Bakehouse in Highland

Fue tan triste ver estas décadas - visita obligada antigua - si cerca de Landour institución caer a un nivel imprescindible - evitar. En los últimos años, las multitudes atraídas por su reputación habían reducido sus encantos, pero la última visita demostró que estas multitudes de viajeros han despojado a este café de cualquier conciencia de calidad o buenos estándares de servicio. "Si la gente está haciendo cola afuera de todos modos, ¿por qué molestarse?" lo resume. Tomamos un batido de vainilla, un chocolate caliente, un bollo y un pastel de olla de champiñones de pollo anoche El primero era acuoso e insípido , el chocolate estaba sobredormido sin sabor real a chocolate pero lo peor era el pastel de olla Te dejaba preguntándote si la persona que lo hizo (no los dignaría con el título de cocinero, y mucho menos chef) había visto alguna vez un pastel de olla o se había comido uno! Por 300 rupias o más tenemos un vaso pequeño medio lleno de pollo en una salsa de curry (no hay señales de hongos) cubierto con una paratha de harina refinada en la parte superior y horneado. No podíamos comerlo y nuestra demanda de ver al gerente y/o al cocinero cayó en oídos sordos. Lo único tolerable era el bollo, pero obviamente no era fresco (probablemente días de edad) servido con excelente mermelada, sino crema batida artificial. Honestamente, le doy cinco años más antes de que su reputación ya no sea suficiente para los terribles productos y servicio y el gran lugar de este cierra sus puertas.

Perfecta parada en Montroes .. comida fresca hecha cada mañana. Café caliente en este clima frío. Gracias. Yo volveré.

Un lugar encantador para tomar una copa y un bocado ligero. Mi marido y yo paramos a comprar capuchinos y un pedazo de pastel para llevar y ambos estaban deliciosos. No dudamos en parar debido a las críticas negativas anteriores, pero nuestra experiencia fue perfecta. A pesar de que el personal es solo un individuo, ella sonrió y nos recibió mientras hacía ocupado bebidas personalizadas y eficientemente llenando pedidos de comida para una larga fila de clientes futuros. Convenientemente situado con baños limpios, no dudaría en volver a este establecimiento encantadoramente decorado. La adición de un funcionario se ocuparía de todos los exámenes publicados anteriormente.

El pudín de pan y mantequilla estaba muy bien con la salsa de vainilla. Teníamos un pudín de toffee pegajoso servido con helado de vainilla, agradable y caliente servido

Tienes que probar el pudín de pan escocés - es delicioso! Precioso interior, gran selección de pasteles y cafés. El servicio era bastante lento con un solo miembro del personal, pero estamos de vacaciones para reducir la velocidad, así que esto no nos molestó. Interesante historia y vistas increíbles, también. No es barato, pero tampoco muy caro. Un pequeño gran lugar para parar en nuestro camino a Skye!

Very expensive, food was good, service perfunctory, toilets a disgrace, no one cleaning tables, everything disposable, bin over flowing

Sat inside for a coffee and cake break. The atmosphere was uninviting and unwelcoming, from the absence of any form of welcome to the posters on the wall. It’s not somewhere we’d want to linger. Welcoming visitors with a smile costs nothing. I know some wall posters were meant to be funny (eg one near the counter, suggesting complaints should be registered 100miles down the road), but too many negative sentiments simply creates the wrong “vibe” and gives the impression the owner needs counselling! Wide range of cake and pastries. Coffee was ok, but weak with no crema. Not only does this affect the taste, it tells me they’re using old beans. So, not for coffee lovers. The unisex toilet was disgraceful! No tissue, water all over the floor and sanitary fittings. I politely informed the person behind the counter, but was given the impression they knew and weren’t bothered. This business is simply replying on their location and absence of any competition.

Nice, clean bakery with good food, cheerful decor and friendly staff. Great restroom.we had a great experience there.

Easy to reach. The cakes were fine, the interior was dirty, nobody cleaned the tables after the guests were gone. They serve Cheap Teas in carton cup for a high price. Staff were not really friendly.

Very disappointed. Looks good from the road & inside, but baguettes were very stale. At this price expected fresh, good quality food. To top it all, fruit scones were served with marmalade and no this is not a Scottish thing!

The building looks inviting from the road and the Interior is nice too. Only wanting a hot drink and sandwich each, we each decided on a Smoked Salmon and Cream cheese baguette and Coffee costing over £22. The Baguette was stodgy , it tasted like it had been kept in a fridge for a couple of days and the salmon tasted metallic and spoiled. The coffee was both weak and tasteless. We both had to drink lots of water on the drive to Oban to get rid of the taste of the salmon. The washroom was not what I expected, a unhygienic shower hose to spray your backside with water going everywhere should you be brave enough to try, I most certainly would not. We will most definitely never visit this place again.

We stopped here hoping to get a cup of tea/coffee and a cake but we were really disappointed. I stood at the counter whilst a member of staff made coffees and totally ignored me, though she knew we were there, not once did she acknowledge me. And she was splitting open coffee bags to put in a coffee machine filter which I found odd, surely grinding beans is more efficient, eco-friendly and tasty too. After a few minutes of being ignored we left.

Called in here on our way back from Skye. Super coffee and very friendly staff. The atmosphere was very good and there were some amusing sayings hanging on the walls.

I think the bad reviews have sparked changes.. we visited and had nothing but a lovely experience - left feeling really confused for the poor reviews. The girl behind the counter was lovely, polite and helpful. Cakes were 10/10, coffee (the flat white especially) was 10/10 - coming from coffee connoisseurs!! The venue and setting were tasteful. Would visit again.

Unfriendly abrupt and rude man served us, clearly did not like people. Weak coffee. Ham and cheese toastie made from cheapest of ingredients leaving a horrible synthetic after taste and the soup was tasteless. Served on takeaway plates and cups. Horrible experience and will never go back.

Oh dear, the man behind the counter must really hate his job and working with people, in fact he seemed angry! How on earth did he get a job there? Such a shame, we talked about his behaviour for about 2 hours after leaving! This is a gorgeous tea room, tastefully decorated and a beautiful location. Food, tea and coffee we couldn’t fault. Definitely won’t be back.

Two sandwiches, made with cheap white bread, toasted, on paper plates, two coffees, paper cups, no napkins. £21. Lovely setting and surroundings but would never return.

Avoid at all costs. Beware of cold coffee, served in paper cups, lukewarm soup served in paper bowl with a wooden teaspoon to eat it with. Small slice of yesterday’s bread, accompanied by small butter and wooden knife!! As for the prices, at least Jack Turpin wore a mask!!!

While on a tour of Scotland, we stopped at this little restaurant, and what a treat it was! I love to bake, and what a selection of delicious and gorgeous baked goods they had to chose from! My husband and I had delicious chicken salad sandwiches for lunch, and I picked a Florentine tart for dessert, which was absolutely incredible. Everything was so tasty, and the two gals behind the counter were friendly, efficient, and handled the crowd that descended on them so well! I learned that one gal was currently student, and one had just graduated from college, and this cafe is out in the middle of nowhere- just beautiful countryside! We had a wonderful experience here, and I highly recommend stopping. By the way, they also have very spacious, clean bathrooms, so stop by!

Cute coffee shop with a fabulous view. Excellent selection of cakes and pastries. The scottish bread pudding was warm and delicious, coffee was good. Staff were very polite, friendly and efficient. Prices a bit high, but this lovely place is in the middle of nowhere, so not surprising really. I’d definitely stop here again.

Came here recently for lunch on the way to Fort William. The staff were friendly, the food and drink all tasted great, and prices were fairly reasonable. Having said that, it sounds like we were lucky, as our experience seems to be contrary to most of the other experiences on here.

Dreadful. Very overpriced. Rude staff who clearly were not interested in serving you. A customer was complaining about a sandwich that they had bought, manager dealt with it with no grace or apology. Drive past!

This was the most expensive and disappointing coffee I’ve ever had, at £4.20 we expected a large coffee but what we got was a small very milky weak coffee served in a disposable cup. The tables were dirty and the staff unfriendly. Cakes and snacks looked ok but again very expensive.

Truly dreadful experience. No welcome, given a damp cloth by a moody guy behind the counter (to wipe our own table!). £4.20 minimum price for warm, tasteless liquid (coffee coloured). Cardboard cups & wooden spoons is simply not good enough - should be proper mugs & cups in such a place. Toilets were not cleaned. Been a couple of times here, but it’s now become a rip off for tourists. Will keep driving next time for decent coffee & genuine home baking in Kyle or back on Skye. What a shame!

Ridiculously expensive 12 quid for a couple of sliced bread sarnies .6 quid for a coke. Forget it.

This place is the opposite to the Cluaine Inn. We decided to take a pack up with us for a day out. My wife asked for a chicken salad roll but was told she could only have a sandwich. So she ordered chicken salad sandwich, I ordered cheese and ham sandwich. We also ordered 2 scones with butter and strawberry jam on them. We were handed the packages and a box. Upon opening further up the road on the way home my wifes chicken salad was sliced bread with the crust cut off making it quite small but we are still not sure what the filling was. Our chicken salad consists of sliced chicken, lettuce, cucumber, tomato and mayo. This was choped chicken in a white paste with green bits in it and it tasted hot/spicy.£5 Didnt eat it. My cheese and ham was bread with crust on but one side of the bread had been toasted. Wasnt very appetising. £5 Next on the dish 2 scones with butter and strawberry jam. Upon opening the box we got 2 scones, 2 packs of butter and 2 packs of strawberry jam. ( No knife) £5. I know should have gone to Aldi. Could have got all of this for a £5.

A pit stop on the way home after a lovely holiday in skye…so many nice coffee stops there that I’m a bit stunned by how dreadful this place is. Just paid £20 for yesterday’s dry scones and watered down coffee…please avoid this place and save your pennies for somewhere with a better cuppa and a clean loo! Feel utterly ripped off, not least cos you could’ve knitted a jumper out of the pubic hair/stoor/cobwebs to be found around the sink in the outside toilet…never mind the broon cludgie! Eek! Avoid!

My husband bought a croissant, cookie and scone from here. The only scones that weren't burned were the plain ones. One bite of each and they all went in the garbage. Don't waste your time or money. Such a disappointment.
