One of the best places to get Chinese food from in the uk in my opinion, just a shame that it close to stansted social club that’s full of nonces

Ordered some sweet and sour squid and honey ribs here early evening. There was no sweet and sour sauce and the squid and ribs were barely edible. It all went in the bin. Certainly won't be using them again.

Following a Chinese takeaway meal for me and my partner recently, we’ve both been feeling unwell from the extremely high volume of monosodium glutamate (salt) for 3 days now. We won’t be returning!

Due to having to move out of my area due to COVID19 I tried Lam's Chinese. The food is quite expensive for what it is, but was reasonable in taste. The items I had were rather small portions; I got the hot appetizer (for 2!) at nearly £9; for that I got 1 and a half rib (which taste really nice, just not enough!), a few pieces of prawn toast (again nice, not enough), 2 small crab claw (were okay), and a small mound of seaweed (quite sweet!!) The Chicken balls were the best out of the order; the sweet and sour source was very nice (nice and thick !! ) The special chow-mien was nothing to write home about to be honest; I did find it father bland and dry - I ate it the following day and after really warming it up in the microwave it tasted better !! On the whole, Lam's is ok.

there are not many Chinese places that i can say are that good but this place saved me from my experience in the pub next door , and i have to say it was most nice and the food nice and fresh. The price was not bad as well considering i had already parted with money for something totally uneatable in the next door pub !

We've been using Lam's for years, and it always used to be great. However, the last few takeaways we've had have been really bland. It'd been a good few months since we'd had one, so thought we'd give them another go to see if things had improved. They hadn't. The food was, again, really bland and tasteless. We won't be going back in a hurry.

We’ve been going here for years and they have some amazing dishes especially Beef with Salt and Chili and Sweet and Sour Crispy Chicken with Garlic. By far, the best in the area!

The only thing that had a slight bit of taste to it was the apple tango. I’m very angry that iv actually had to put the one star to be honest.

Having been using another chinese takeaway in the village we thought we would try this for the first time, not disappointed at all, portions was bigger, food was better and prices are reasonable, lams has won our custom

Always buy my Chinese hereand it's always fresh hot and tasty. Man can be a little abrubt on the counter but I have no complaints with taste and sizes

Fantastic food shame about the rude and totally ignorant man who answers the phone and serves, he needs to get some customer service skills along with some manners.

Ordered a takeaway although personally never confident about British ‘Chinese’ takeaway food, but it is what my father-in-law wanted and this is his local. Everything was very poorly prepared, bland, greasy and heavy and did not resemble what Chinese food should be. Food is SO important to orientals and am very sad for those reviewers who give high ratings here as they clearly have never tasted well prepared Chinese food. With the high profile of good cookery from around the world in the media these days I struggle to understand how places like Lam’s are still getting away with conning the British public!!

Lams is always good for a cheeky take away... no eat in, so make sure you have a plate ready at home!!! Been going here for 10+ years and never been disappointed.

We moved away to Stortford so we haven't been back as much as we would have liked, but today's meal was just as good as always, still the best in town.

Thought we would treat ourselves to a Chinese take away and got all excited. In fairness didn't have to wait long for collect. Got home and dished everything out which it was warm. As soon as I opened the sweet and sour Hong Kong style I could just smell iron. Went to eat it and had to spit it out. It tatsed like blood! The duck was tough and Chewy was not impressed at all. It really has put me off Chinese for life! Called the restaurant to tell them I was not impressed with the quality of food whilst being polite. There was an awkward pause. They didn't even want to know what was wrong with the food, he didn't even apologise (common curtisy) or even offer a refund or anything. I had to take the food back myself. Even whilst getting the refund I tried to explain and eveytime I spoke I was cut off. GO TO THE MAYFLOWER INSTEAD PEEPS.

Having patronised Lams for many years and been very pleased with the food and its cost - an experience recently is very different. Cold food - overcooked - so much so Peking duck had to be thrown away- dry, hard and burnt. What a waste of money and not cheap. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all.

We have patronised Lams for years and it always a depenable and reasonably good take away. Our latest experience tonight was a different matter. We had four separate dishes and none of them were nice... new chef or new produce supplier? Either way it was low quality food with watery sauces and no flavour other than MSG. I did not eat my meal and my wife left most of hers too. Everything was very bland. Most of it went in the bin!

I have had some 'ok' take aways from here but sometimes the chicken has been very questionable. I have had worse though for sure from other take aways so I wouldn't say I wouldn't go back there again.

Good value for money typical Chinese takeaway. Stick to the usuals and I'm sure you will enjoy. If you want top notch Chinese then order from crimson8 but if it's a cheerful chow down then Lams is good.

I went to Lams a few months ago and I've got to say, never again unless you want re-cooked prawns for dinner.. rubbish!

Lams in station road stansted , great food , great value, fast service , not the typical takeaway food is clean and plentyful , guaranteed you wont be hungry after your meal !

We go here regularly but find the weekend food is much better than week day - noodles are softer, prawn crackers are soggy etc during the week which is a shame. Great food and price but I'd only recommend the weekend.

Tenemos Lam cada par de meses, nunca decepciona. Hay una serie de especiales, además que tienen una excelente relación calidad-precio. Se llena en el fin de semana, así que recomiendo llamar 40 minutos antes. Me gustaría ver un servicio de entrega por favor!

Ordered takeaway this evening and am so impressed with the quality of the food I had to write a review. I'm so fussy we drive up from Bishops Stortford to try it and I can safely say I will be recommending and returning.Also must add the staff were friendly, accommodating and prices were very reasonable. Very happy customer

Used to go here lots until found out it had a food hygeine rating of 1. Visited again for the first time in 5 years and it's greatly improved (rating of 5!) The Egg fried rice, vegetable spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken and lemon chicken were all delicious! Very quickly prepared and good service. Would 100% recommend.

Lams is always busy, the food is good and there is plenty of it. They are now using a new computer system which seems ok, except my Special Fried rice ended up being egg fried rice! That said my chicken curry and my partners chicken chow mein are always very tasty as are the spring rolls. Because Lams is busy, you sometime's have to wait a little longer, but I think its worth it!..............

If you're planning to buy crispy chilli beef, think again, it's really bad. The egg fried rice and the service was good though and didn't have anything else. Went to this one as my usual was closed, very dissapointing and more expensive.

Despite the average rating, I often grab a takeaway from Lam's on the way home from work - at least once a fortnight. Having lived in London for 20 years where there is fierce competition for your business, the quality of food there is significantly better if you choose the right restaurants. Where village restaurants fall down, and this includes Lam's and surrounding eateries, is the fact that the meat is not fresh - worse, it is frozen and there lacks authenticity in some of the dishes - especially the Thai selections. I wonder whether this is due to less footfall than london restaurants or whether they are scrimping to keep costs down. Some dishes are bland, possibly to cater to the area's diners. I would prefer a dish with chili to knock my socks off, rice that feels and tastes fresh and meat that has been prepared from fresh that day. Considering the place is quite busy, they ought to consider preparing fresher food and having specials. On the plus side, the food is made quickly and is adequate enough to eat. The service is good but the numbering system them employ falls down when, after waiting 15/20 minutes, you, and they forget what number you are!Through lack of choice in the area, I'll continue to order food from here but I would like to see improvements. It ought to feel like a treat to order in, but it doesn't.

We've always enjoyed the food, but 3 times now we've ordered food and told it would be ready in 30 minutes only to get there and wait 20mins for our food because they hadn't started making it yet. Very disappointing service.

As far as take away goes Lams is the best around. I have ordered from all of the Chinese restaurants in the area, including Bishops Stortford up to the outskirts of Harlow. It is very good food, very quickly prepared and the staff are really great. The ONLY downside - no delivery perhaps joining Just-Eat or something could be the solution. Also the prices are really amazing. Some of our favourites: Starter - Crispy pancake roll, Kung Po chicken, Beef in black bean sauce. Regardless, we have never bought a dish that wasn't delicious.

I have only recently started using Lams, and its nice with a varied menu. My partner is impressed by the Chicken Chow Mein. I have the chicken curry, which is always well flavoured and contains nice vegetables. The Spring Rolls are substantial. I did try the House Rice and it was lovely. Lams always seems very popular

They put too much msg in their food. Keeps me awake all night and get palpitations. Used to be good........alas like most places new people take over and ruin it.

The title says it all really. An average Chinese takeaway. Nothing special nothing wrong with it. Food ok, chow mein was mostly noodles with less other stuff than I would normally expect. Singapore chow mein not very spicy spring rolls ok curry sauce mild and ok. If I'm here again I will try somewhere else.

Lam's has become my default choice for a Chinese takeaway.The portions are generous, the prices sensible and there is a good selection; they usually include a bag of prawn crackers, free, as well!In busy times, such as early Saturday evening, it's worth calling ahead with your order, and parking is sometimes a little chaotic if your timing coincides with a train at Stansted Mountfitchet station.

Always have a good meal and orders always correct, hot & flavoursome. Best to phone ahead but never a long wait either - a couple of pubs nearby to pop to whilst waiting if necessary. Friendly staff

Lam's provide a quick and reasonable takeaway. They can get very busy on Friday and Saturday evenings, so expect a wait!Other than this, great takeaway in the heard of Stansted.

Easily the best Chinese takeaway in Stansted, well prepared food and good value. very well located in the centre of the village, near the station.
