Lamb Hotel Bar and Restaurant in East Cambridgeshire

Stayed here for 1 night after my son’s wedding reception. Lovely clean room. Staff were friendly. Will definitely stay here again

We enjoyed a fabulous meal in this very comfortable, dog-friendly hotel restaurant. The menu is quite vast, the food was very quickly prepared and the staff pleasant and attentive. The meals were absolutely first class and we were delighted with our visit to this restaurant. Would definitely return - can’t wait to try other things on the menu!!!

The food was very average. They told us there was only one table left so we had to reserve and commit early. When we got there and the whole time we were there the restaurant was not even 50% occupied! I had the “Award winning “ Beef and Ruddles pie. There was no beef in the pie !! Just a few slithers of something that looked liked mince meat. When I complained I was given 10% off the food. This turned out to be a very expensive pastry, chips and peas dinner. When the bill came they over charged for the wine, when this was pointed out to them they said there was a misprint on the price stated in the menu. They agreed to alter the bill to match the price in the menu. However it was disappointing that they felt they could over charge without telling me.

Pop into the lamb for breakfast with a friend and ordered scrambled eggs and salmon on sourdough bread and bacon and poached eggs and 2 small coffees £25.68. The portion sizes were childlike and a rip off of your local cliental. Be fair to your customers and give value for our money!!

Food was fair but unimaginative. Beer was ok as were prices. Not bad but I felt the place fell between two stools - a traditional pub and a family restaurant - and with its location it could be so much more.

Maybe an off day and other days better but our overall experience poor. Not a great welcome. Seemed to be a lot of staff but fundamentally it didn’t seem to work as we had to keep re asking for things and were waiting - to order, for rest of our drinks etc. Bread described as fresh bloomer was stale. Veg looked good and a good combination but were almost inedible. Carrot was so chewy it seemed more like a parsnip. Feta pear open sandwich was a hit.

Dinner was lovely staff very attentive surrounds lovely but do not agree with dogs being allowed in dining area thanks so much

Food was good but service really disappointing and slow. It took 10 minutes between each interaction from ordering a drink which I asked what gin they had and they didn't come back but just brought me a gin. When my meal was finished I was not offered a desert menu so left with out ordering. Jack up your act!!!

We stayed for two nights in The Lamb hotel. It was absolutely outstanding and exceeded our expectations. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent. The staff were polite and attentive. Rooms clean and functional. I would highly recommend this hotel for short stays on Ely. We are already planning our next visit. Thank you to all the staff at The Lamb.

We stayed quite close, so it was the first place we tried in Ely. We weren't disappointed, the food menu was pub food, steaks, pies, fish etc... and very tasty, well presented... The Abbott Ale was well kept and very more-ish! The staff were very helpful and attentive!

This was absolutely delicious. We arrived at lunch time having not booked a table, the only seat they had free was by the bar which was actually lovely. They said it would be a 25min-30min wait, we were sat instantly and drinks were ordered and arrived within 10mins of sitting down and we had ordered food within 15mins. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, they quite literally couldn't do enough for us. My friend had a curry which she said was brilliant and I had the camembert which was fantastic. The service was brilliant and they happily let us use our student discount. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

Great service by our waiter, Tom! Awesome vegetarian dishes. I recommend the butternut squash curry dish (SO GOOD) - also great desserts to pick from. Other parties got a salmon dish and a steak. Both loved it. Rosè for wine was great. Would love to come back. Thank you Tom!

Many thanks to the lovely bar staff at The Lamb. I left my purse on the bar and wandered off. A staff member found me & gave it back safely - I’m so appreciative as the Restaurant & bar were really busy on a Saturday night. 👏🧡👏🧡👏

a group of us arranged to meet at the lamb last evening to celebrate the birthday of one in the group. Just 2weeks ago we did something similar with no problem. this time we were rudely informed that if not eating with them we were not entitled to have a drink. this was then relented to one drink but each of us were made to feel unwelcome, in the way, all actions by staff to encourage this feeling. only place to have our drinks in the corridor between front door and stairs to/from hotel bedrooms. so we found ourselves.constantly in the way of guests descending the stairs. then the manager closed and locked the door behind . after we left he closed the door to the hotel behind us. it was an humiliating and unpleasant experience. we all felt unwelcome and like leaving with our drinks not drunk. whilst we can understand a change in how the management decide to run a well used and known local pub. we can not understand why it is being instigated in such a heavy handed and alienating fashion. We are all local people who after tonight will no longer bring our custom to the lamb hotel sadly, could have been handled much better . no signage of the changes outside or inside nor on the website.

Brilliant find - individual glasses of Chablis excellent - my avocado and prawn cocktail very good but no avocado. Main course of salmon on crushed new potatoes with wilted spinach and poached egg was great. Service was very attentive and friendly with attractive and welcoming seating. Went to have some Friday drinks and possibly food. It was quite empty compared to usual. All the tables in the bar were reserved and a very smirky member of staff was keen to say that it was no longer serving just drinks and was going to be undergoing a refurb and be restaurant only. If they are going this way, then I guess they could upgrade the mediocre food and invest in some more pleasant staff

Went to visit our son in Ely for the weekend and stayed at the lamb Hotel Friday and Saturday night. Room and ensuite spacious and clean. Staff lovely and very helpful. Breakfast excellent and a good choice. Hotel in a great location. Near to cathedral etc. would stay again

Decided to celebrate Valentine's day with my partner with dinner at the Lamb Inn, Ely. We were welcomed within 3 minutes of arriving and booked in by Jaimie (hope I got that spelt correctly) whom attended our table for the evening, she gave us a choice of table to sit at, a nice touch. We had a 3 course meal and drinks. The drinks were cold and as they should be especially the Prosecco, as in other establishments we have been too always seems to have warm Prosecco or Wine. The meal was well prepared and hot to eat, and the portions were exactly right, so congrats to the Chef on that. We noticed 2 table cloths on the table and of Cotton material, most places we have been too never seem to have these for some reason, just a bare wooden table, so that was a nice touch to detail. We also had heart shaped red napkins, another attention to detail for a special occasion. The service was tops and couldn't fault it, nice restaurant as well with tables well spaced from each other. The decor was good and clean all over the inn, the bar area was pretty good as well. As it's a Greene King establishment, to be honest walking in you would not think so. We are definitely going to come back and may be staying a night.

Had a good meal this evening, the food was excellent, the service was ok, and the comfort was abysmal. Management has increased the covers, this is profit greed rather than customers experiencing a relaxed dining evening. very disappointed to have to sit so close to other diners. Went in the Lamb hotel Friday evening 7.45pm had lovely meal. Great atmosphere and staff were great especially Sandra she was very helpful pointing out the special deals that were on offer. Will definitely return soon.

Reasonable evening meal from a pub chain. My sirloin steak was cooked medium rare, just about right, although it was a bit chewy. Service was efficient and the bill was reaonable.

This spot is a great place for a glass of wine and a salad. Has a lovely atmosphere and great food served daily.

A warm welcome for our Sunday lunch. We were given time to choose from the extensive menu and felt I rushed. The lunch was freshly cooked and tasty. A lovely atmosphere and staff were very attentive knowing when we wanted something, without being overbearing. Whilst there, we noticed that the whole area had been decorated and it looked lovely. Spoke with Sam and she was delightful. We had a super lunch and will return with friends in the future. Well worth a visit.

Visited the Lamb for lunch. The waitress gave poor service, taking our order down incorrectly and being inattentive. They also brought the incorrect dish (we had requested a salmon dish, she had brought the fishcake version). Her colleague was better, when checking how things were, commenting that there were two similar sounding menu items and that the first waitress should have clarified if she was uncertain. The first waitress did not check back in or apologise. No attempts at correcting the error were made. Food was ok, not better than expected for any pub. Service was not especially fast. It may have been an exceptional off day, but I very much would not recommend coming here on the basis of our visit.

Gorgeous Sunday dinner. Both of us loved our food. I am gluten free and highly recommend here. Fantastic gluten free menu and helpful staff. I even had yorkshire puddings!!! Yay

This visit was on the last Sunday afternoon in June on the hottest of day's some 33 degrees. We came in to have a drink and escape the heat but stayed for a late lunch and thoroughly enjoyed two courses each taken from an extensive menu. Excellent value for money, delicious food and fantastic service. Good local ale's tested.

Went yesterday for family birthday meal. The girl on front of house was very rude. Her attitude left a lot to be desired. The food was good but the service was appalling. We were there for 2 1/2 hours and only had a main meal, we decided not to have a dessert as wanted to be home before midnight. It wasn’t that busy so not sure why the service was so slow. We went a while ago and couldn’t fault it, but I won’t be going back in a hurry

Great venue for a spot of lunch in the historic town of Ely. Closed to the cathedral and if visiting on a Saturday, the market will be open too. Free parking too!

Visited here for lunch on a less than sunny Monday on a whim. Was served by a lovely waitress called Lesley, who was super friendly, professional and a pleasure to be served by. I myself am vegan and found myself overwhelmed (in a good way) by the outstanding choices available, as I very often find myself with little or no options. I chose the salad with vegan meat balls, which was faultless. I will however return to try the vegan pie and gnocchi as they were close contenders. Glad we came here and recommend for food and service.

The staff in this hotel/restaurant are absolutely super. Jamie especially has been super helpful, kind, friendly and accommodating. My parents have been staying for the weekend and have found the room well appointed and comfortable and we have joined them for food and drinks each evening. The food has all been excellent, bar and waiting staff, Sophie especially has been super with nothing too much trouble. It really has felt like a welcoming home from home all weekend.

Booked a night away and couldn’t have picked a better place. From check in to check out it was a great experience. After resting in the afternoon we chose to visit the bar and decided to order food, there was plenty of space in the dining area as well as the bar. My partner opted for the sea bass risotto and I went for the Cajun chicken. Both meals were served within 15 minutes and were delicious. The room was very comfortable with a king size bed, which was very soft, ensuring a great nights sleep was had. Breakfast was very good with various options available. The service throughout our stay was excellent, all the team were pleasant, very attentive and very genuine, they were not just going through the paces. An excellent place to stay, led by Samantha who was there to check usin and still running about the following morning during breakfast.

We popped in last minute as a group of 10. The pub staff was as accommodating and attentive as if we’d had a reservation. The food was all delicious and served promptly. The prices were also very reasonable.

Last minute decision to eat out. Called The Lamb and they had a table free for 3. All of us ordered different main meals and all were served promptly and the foid piping hot and delicious. Thanks to Jaime, Joanna and Ben for looking after us. Will definitely be back.
