Fabulous food, service & great atmosphere. The food was delicious & the chef gives a very personal touch. Good selection of beer, cider & wine. A must go to pub!

Was up this way and popped in for some food due to a friends recommendation after the change in management. It was lunch time and I wasn't too hungry, but I got a roast beef baguette, whilst my parents wanted something a bit bigger, and the chef gave us his dinner menu and told us he could make up anything we wanted as long as he had the ingredients, which was extremely accommodating. The price wasn't cheap and a bit over budget from what we normally eat, but the quality was definitely worthy of the price. I'm not a connisur by any means, but man the roast beef was bloody good! My mum and dad had the sausage meal and the burger meal. Sausage and mash definitely was sausage and mash, hard to really get into detail on such a classic dish, but man that burger was giant in the best way, clearly hand made and put together moments before it was on the plate to the point I regretted not getting it myself haha. We had ice cream after as our budget was already hit but we wanted something sweet, and it was honestly the best ice cream I've ever had, which I was not expecting. I asked who it was (granny gothards) and I fully plan on buying some in for myself haha. The music seemed to be some nice background music pieces that really added to the atmosphere of the dining experience. Tl;Dr this is a nice cosy pub for a drink, and a place to have a good, tasty meal that's worth the price. Its no gastro pub with cheap and cheerful food and prices, but you do get what you pay for in my opinion.

What can I say , absolutely amazing, what a fantastic Sunday Roast .well recommended 🤗 staff are friendly and very helpful. This place is definitely worth a visit. The chief is brilliant, his food Amazing.

Another delicious and filling meal. This time we tried the burgers to compare them to other pubs nearby. They were very good. Thank you Pat. It was just what we wanted.

We had a lovely family lunch. Food was excellent and we were talked through the selection. We had ploughman’s, coronation chicken baguette and the charcuterie board. We also had delicious wine. Fire was on and the pub had an excellent atmosphere. We will definitely return!

Lovely service, food and drinks!! We all really enjoyed our time there and the atmosphere was nice. The owner even brought my meal over and checked how everything was which made us feel amazing!

With its new management and head chef (Patrice Carroll), we'd heard rumblings about The Lamb & Flag so had to make a trip down for a Sunday roast. We had a hearty beef roast with the most incredible veggies and a side of cauliflower cheese. The BEST roast I have had, period. Following the main, we indulged in a locally sourced cheese board, a decadent chocolate and peanut butter tort, and enough pints to please a small army! The staff were attentive, friendly, and welcoming. The atmosphere was warm, jovial and friendly, with a large sign that read: "Dogs, muddy boots, and families very welcome". 10/10 we will be coming back.

We had a great Sunday lunch at the Lamb today, highly recommended the beef was excellent will definitely be returning, the team delivered a great service and it was great to see it busy.

Had a delicious Sunday roast with friends. I had the beef, perfectly cooked. The pork looked lovely too and according to our friends scrumptious! Vegetables plenty and great variety including cauliflower cheese and potatoes crispy and tasty. I couldn't fault it. The chocolate brownie was divine. Atmosphere lovely, roaring fire. Very helpful staff. Only recently reopened and what a difference! The beer was perfect and wine lovely. Highly recommended! Staff couldn't do more and very friendly. Good to see the Lamb back on form, good luck to the new manager....more of the same, perfect! Looking forward to trying the new menu...well done all! Considering the quality, excellent value for money.

Thought we would try after being shut again for the 3rd time in 3 months. Wish we didn't! New manager or should I say trainee seems nice but hasn't got a clue on how to pour a pint, hope he can run pub better. As wasting so much beer. Very flustered, and cant change a barrel. Beer tastes vile have you cleaned the lines due to bejng closed for so long?food is OK. Not great though. And not worth the money they charge. Staff are rude and attitude from one staff is awful. Suggestion. Get the manager some training and new staff who dosen't bad mouth the manager to customers. Maybe the pub should stay closed until taken over but a brewery?

Went to the reopening. Very good atmosphere. Friendly locals, lovely village pub. Taster food very nice. Can't wait for full menu to be served, especially Sunday roast. Will definitely be returning and recommend you give it a try especially if you enjoy a traditional, character pub.

Stopped here for dinner before heading to our campground. Delicious food, excellent unpretentious service and a lovely garden. Plus dog friendly! Will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Our first visit and wonderfully surprised, such a pleasant atmosphere, really helpful and efficient staff, food was delicious, flavour combinations on every course made each part of our three course meal an absolute pleasure. WIne and real ale both excellent and available from a number of choices. To top it all the meal and drinks came to a very reasonable cost at the end of our evening. We will be returning and taking along friends and family.

This was my first visit to the Lamb & Flag, what a treat!Off road parking, covid secure, a friendly welcome, beautiful gardens and a very inviting menu.We enjoyed a drink in the garden and were invited to our table inside when our meal was ready to be served. The seafood chowder was to die for and my guest thoroughly enjoyed her chicken burger. For dessert we both had chocolate brownies with raspberry ice cream, garnished with fresh berries. We finished our meal with coffee in the garden. A delightful return to something like ‘normality’, can’t wait to return.

This was our first visit to a pub to eat inside since lockdown . What a welcome back to going out! This feels like a proper pub . It was fully booked and had a lovely atmosphere. Despite being busy it didn't feel too much with regard to Covid. There was plenty of space and hand sanitizers everywhere. The food we all had (there were 4 of us) was superb. My hubby and I had the pan seared scallops which were divine with the coconut dahl. We both had the burger with brisket for main....so yummy! One of our friends had the lamb and went as far as to say it Michelin star quality! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and service was unhurried..All in all a really good welcome back to life after lockdown! Will be looking forward to returning.

We had a super lunch at the Lamb today sat outside in the Sunshine, decided on the soup curry cauliflower and the flat bread crab kedgeree both very tasty something different from the norm.The service was excellent considering the pub was busy and I would recommend it, we will be back again soon.

What a beautiful pub!We sat in the garden and enjoyed a superb lunch served by happy friendly people.I was introduced to Chowder for the first time in my life and it was AMAZING. All of our food was superb and the pub sits in a beautiful quiet village.We will definitely return and can highly recommend this superb inn !!

Outstanding lamb dinner . Well presented and every mouth felt like heaven . Staff very friendly and social. Good pint . In the area for next few months and will be hitting this a few times a week such was the dinning experience . Well done to the lamb and Flag team .

First time back in my local since the easing of restriction on 12th April (I'm a week late I know but I've been away). Popped in with the dog for a couple of post-walk pints and a plate of beatiful scallops. Fantastic, as always! Lisa and Michelle keeping everyone happy with excellent, friendly and quick service. The sun is shining and the dog is asleep so I think I'll stay for a couple more pints. Come and join me, I thoroughly recommend it.

Visited for the first time since it changed hands. Lovely garden with lots of well separated tables, some with shelter if needed. Service was friendly and efficient and although busy, didn’t have to wait too long. We had the roast, beef was perfect, nice and pink and pork crackling was just right. Highly recommended the sticky toffee pudding!

This was our first trip out to the pub after months of lockdown and I am so glad we chose the L&F. ...The food was divine! Featuring a well sized beer garden with plenty of seating and great facilities. Staff were warm and inviting from the get go. Highly recommend!

Tonight we have just eaten what was supposed to be a Fish and Chip take away costing £10.00 per person. It was TERRIBLE!!! The Grey fish inside was scant and unidentifiable in both quality and substance. The batter was crispy enough but the chips were a mixture of potato skins and small potatoes, crispy but small in number. The boxes had been wrapped in tin foil with no identifiable marker as to the ‘right way up’ and therefore when unwrapped were covered in tipped up mushed minted peas and tartare sauce. VERY DISAPPOINTED, will not be returning there.

This pub has really come into its own since changing mangers and head chef. The menu is modern but still holding some classic dishes and the food quality is just amazing. The meats and fish are all cooked to perfection on every dish I’ve tried or seen. Exciting sauces with the dishes too and a great veg selection to accompany each dish. The staff have a buzz and vibe about them, very helpful and all seem very happy to be working there. The locals bring an exciting vibe to the pub making it a hub to the community and a place you really want to stay and enjoy. A must visit to all including families

My friend and I attended their first ever curry night last night, and what a success. The food was fantastic! The service was prompt, polite and professional. If you want a lovely meal out, go there you won't regret it. Well done to all of those who work there.

I glance down through the reviews. Many people mentioned how good the food was, so we thought we'd check it out so I booked a table as part of a birthday get away for my partner. The starters, only olives and flatbreads with homemade hummus - very good.The mains, venison and the pie of the day (also, venison) were out of this world. The pastry for the pie was incredible. I've never tasted anything like it before. If they made mince pies using this (the pastry, not the venison) they would be onto a complete winner.I had emailed ahead to ask if they were able to 'birthday' up the pudding, and they didn't disappoint. The puddings were really nice and had a chocolate made birthday message with them. The service was first class. Such an enjoyable night. Would highly recommend.

After eating at the Lamb on a regular basis over the years the new menu takes it to another level, I dined out on Monday evening and the food was superb. I had the Lamb and Flag Scotch Egg followed by the Duo of Somerset Pork, we also had the Tian of Brixham Crab and the Pie of the Day which was Steak and Ale.Will be heading back soon as there is many items on the menu that I want to try.

We enjoyed a great evening with friends at the Lamb and Flag sampling their new menu. I had the Brixham Crab and Avocado, followed by the Somerset Venison and it was just fabulous. Perfect portions.Service was great with a really warm and friendly welcome.

Came in for dinner during October, and what a find this place is! We’re informed by the friendly staff of the new menu, and it’s such a lovely menu that caters for all tastes/dietary requirements. I went for the Somerset venison loins and it was superb cooked to perfection and presented wonderfully. All the COVID measures in place track&trace, tables socially distanced and staff all wearing masks made to feel very safe. Will definitely be back

We went for Sunday lunch (best beef I’ve ever had!) so went back for dinner the next evening - wow! Awesome food and service. Top notch, no complaints at all!

Warm welcome, fab food, great beer and a roaring fire was just what we wanted on a cold wet October day. Found by accident and the food was so great we booked in for dinner the following night. The homemade pie was worth a visit alone. Great pizza and lovely selection of food to suit all. A large slice from a huge pie and crammed with filling. We were welcomed in with muddy boots and wet dogs. Staff were lovely and I would highly recommend a visit.

I had lunch today, Saturday at the lamb and flag! I was spoilt for choice with a superb varied menu. I decided on the crab and avocado starter followed by the duo of pork. Both delightful, full of flavour and beautifully presented. We all chose something different and all dishes were fabulous and generous portions and not over priced. The service was spot on and all the staff very friendly. From a covid point of view, I felt safe as all precautions were in place. Compliments to the chef and all the staff for making my impromptu lunch (I hadn't booked) such a wonderful experience. Thank you!

Had a delicious evening meal and Sunday lunch at this pub recently from their varied menu - so many tasty things to choose from (e.g. pizza, flatbreads, seabream, confit duck etc to the usual pub favourites done really well!) Definitely recommended and they are covid-safe with sign in/track and trace on arrival with hand sanitiser, plus waiting staff keep their distance and are wearing masks. Would be nice to have a drinks menu with prices at the table as you are not supposed to go to the bar to order drinks.

Amazing atmosphere, friendly staff and great food at a reasonable price. Easily booked our table a couple of days before and were offered a choice of seats when we arrived. Lovely setting with Covid measures in place. One of our favourite meals out.

We planned to meet friends one of whom is 75 and has been shielding. The pub promised us a table away from crowds and they delivered - we had a whole area of the restaurant to ourselves. The food was amazing and the service friendly and helpful. We could not fault anything!

Excellent service & food today at the Lamb & Flag. The manager looked after us brilliantly as did his team, Louis (?) & Rebecca. They were efficient, friendly & welcoming - what a rare pleasure to enjoy such great service . The food surpassed expectations & my husband said it was the nicest burger he’d had in 10 years!! And trust me, he eats a lot of burgers! Great atmosphere too!!

First time we have used Britstop. Lamb and Flag pub Somerset. So easy to use, rang ahead to confirm space. Greeted so well , parked up and entered for a drink. Hosts really welcoming. We were seated upstairs and it didn’t feel too crowded at all - good social distancing. Our drinks order was taken and delivered back to us really quickly. Our meal order was taken quickly too and the food didn’t take long to come. I had the sea bream, which was perfectly cooked and was delicious. My husband had the burger which was also very good, as were son number 1’s steak and son number 2’s duck. Good portion sizes. Son number 1 is a bit of a sticky toffee pudding connoisseur and he gave it the thumbs up, and son number 2 and I had the chocolate mousse, with Chantelle cream and raspberries. It was more solid than we were expecting but none the worse for that. Very smooth and rich. Top marks Lamb and Flag, we will be back! Thanks.

Considering the Pub was very busy due to the Help out to eat out the food and service were excellent, my steak was cooked medium just as I had wanted I also had the fish cakes as a starter. Always enjoy the ambiance of the Lamb and will be back again soon.

Stood around waiting for someone to acknowledge and seat us. Sat waiting with no menus provided and had to go and find them ourselves. Asked if there was a drinks menu-no; waiter listed about 15/20 drinks quickly (No menu no prices). Starters were cold. When asked how they were, we advised they were cold but tasted nice. No apology given but instead seemed annoyed. Mains- Asked for spice in the mild curry when ordering. Came out mild and it was a small portion. Chips were cheap frozen chips, oven cooked not fried. Waiter mockingly asked if the mains were hot enough. Another waitress cleared the plates and asked how the meal was. We said ok, thanks. Waiter then stormed over saying ‘you weren’t happy with the meal why not?’ We didn’t even complain to the waitress. As he confronted us, we advised about the curry not having any spice, having specifically asked for it. He interrupted and said ‘it’s for the general public; you want spice you ask.’ I again advised that I had asked when we ordered. Again no apology, just annoyance. No money taken off the bill either, nothing.COVID measures were non-existent. Waiter spoke very loud and leaned over the tables into your face- with no mask on. Some of the party were ill after the visit. If you like mediocre food and poor service with the possibility of coronavirus then it’s worth a visit. At least it was ‘eat out to help out’ as we certainly wouldn’t have been happy to pay the full price.

Lovely lunch at the lamb and flag arrived late for lunch on a Thursday after a stressful drive down to Somerset on busy roads and they kindly cooked pizza for us all. Great atmosphere.

I took my daughter to The Lamb and Flag for her first visit and we both enjoyed an evening meal.The pub was very busy and the staff worked hard and brilliant as a team to provide great service along with lovely fresh food. I had steak, my daughter mussels and we both had sticky toffee pudding for dessert. All of which were delicious!Look forward to returning.

Wow, these guys are working hard for you! Very tasty curry, light and correct portion size which is important to me. Full not bloated!! Great big garden. Tons of room for social distance. Dog friendly 🐕🐕. Friendly service.

We were passing through travelling further south so thought we’d stop for lunch. A nice looking country pub with a decent menu. We ordered lentil burgers and a fish & chips, standard pub fayre. It was ok, lentil burgers lacked any real flavour apart from the pickled veg on top and the fish was a bit soggy and not really how ‘beer batter’ is imagined. The chips were good though! Lucky to get the Eat out to help out discount otherwise it would have felt a little disappointing.

Camper van sleepover on our way to Cornwall. Beautiful quaint pub in lovely rural village. Friendly staff. The food was fantastic. The burger was one of the best I have had. Well worth a visit.

This is a great country pub. Went for lunch on 21st July 2020 and sat in the lovely garden. Fabulous menu options. We both had a pizza. It was lovely and very authentic. Fresh ingredients, thin base and full of favour. Two members of staff were attentive and friendly. Everything was also Covid compliant. A lovely afternoon.

We had booked for Mother’s Day a few months in advance but due to the covid19 we didn’t feel like going and asked if they would do a takeaway roast for all 10 of us split into two separate bags for both families they were brilliant and the food was great and very tasty. I hope they make it through the hard times ahead and can’t wait to eat in.

Great staff and nice atmosphere but is anyone else having problems with the “T-bone steak. This is our second visit where it was small and full of fat and gristle.

Went out for birthday meal with family.Food excellent as was the service from the moment we arrived.Was a bit early so we sat at the bar and chatted with friendly staff.Beer was also excellent, Butcome Gold was my choice. Had 3 courses and all were wonderful. I had the lamb and it was cooked to perfection. We also had the belly pork, and steak for mains which all were of the same standard.Also as we have dogs and it is lovely not to have to leave them in the car and they also got given some dog treats.

An excellent country pub, good food and particularly good service. We had a really nice time here and will definitely comeback.

Got a last minute table for Sunday lunch and it was fantastic. Amazing beef, huge Yorkshire and great roast potatoes! It was really busy and we had to wait a little while before ordering, but the waiting staff were friendly and attentive and the food arrived quickly. Good choice of beers and a good glass of red. Loved it.

Have to say we went with the hope was going to be a lovely meal!To start with when I booked I requested to be next to the fire and we weren't even in the same room for starters even tho told it was available! The waiter didnt know if food was vegetarian and once he found that out I asked what's in it he didnt know what a joke! The food itself personally was not enjoyable the potatoes were dry and starter was vile! Anyway £80 and we ended up going to subway on way home and I dont like that either but was better than what we had at the lamb and flag

The food was excellent the service was faultless and the overall ambiance was great. Well worth calling in for a meal or just for a pint!

Chose slow roast belly pork with black pudding balls broccoli and cabbage. All fabulous no fat evident on pork, but surprised there was no potato, not even a choice to have any on the menu. Meant we needed to have an excellent sticky toffee pudding which was more calories than I should have eaten.

Stopped on the off chance of getting some dinner for 2 adults and 2 children as we drove through on a Saturday evening ..... really fantastic food, very accommodating, great all round!

Lovely old pub, service attentive and cordial. My 'roast' was very poor though. Cold vegetables, tasteless insipid chicken breast, roast potatoes that were obviously re-heated and were dry. £13.50. My second poor meal there. Like the ambience, setting, staff, but little enthusiasm for the food which has been poor.

Stopped in for lunch, we have driven past many times. The service and food were outstanding. Great bar with good choice of beer. Dog friendly too. All in all a great pub.

I booked this place to meet up with friends and family on Christmas Eve - a total of 15 - 20 people. The staff were great, and the local pub atmosphere and ambience was warm and inviting. We pre-ordered our meals, and these were all delivered with no fuss, hot and on time, even though they were busy. The meals themselves were delicious. We would definitely go back here. Highly recommended and easily deserve the five star rating.

We have just had a family meal here, it was great quality and the staff were fabulously helpful and attentive. The place itself is also lovely.

Fabulous meal and especially catered for our grandchildren. It was a 40th birthday celebration and they helped make sure our seating was right, children were happy and they helped with the whole birthday cake surprise etc. Can’t thank them enough for making our celebration special. Definitely returning for a meal out in the future.

A group of us had a fabulous meal at the Lamb & Flag this weekend. Staff were so helpful and accommodating from our initial enquiry through till the evening of our meal. Food was fantastic, would highly recommend.

This is a great place to meet friends. It has a very nice atmosphere and helpful, friendly staff. The food was hot, well cooked and tasty. Importantly for our friends, you are allowed dogs in the bar area.

Stayed over in this popular pubs carpark through Britstops.co.uk good level parking although not large car park. 4 campers stayed over on the night we were there. Good food and real ales.

I never ate such a delicious lamb in my life. Really nice piece of lamb with mixture of vegetables. We were all of 3 of us enchanted. Nice environment, lovely people but the most important the lammmmmb was delicious . They got also nice desserts, I loved the cheesecake.

This pub is great. We visited here the Friday of bank holiday weekend. The weather was lovely and the beer garden a wonderful place to eat lunch and spend a couple of hours on a Friday afternoon. The food was great. My party had fish and chips and the ploughman’s. Both were great. The ploughman’s was lovely and I’d highly recommend it. Defiantly worth a visit. I’ll be back next time I’m in the Taunton area

We visited the Lamb and Flag for dinner to meet up with a family member in the area. The food was excellent, with well-judged flavours. The inn has a charming, welcoming atmosphere and the service was perfect. I can see why it was busy, despite the awful weather.

Went for sunday lunch with family of 4 table booked for 2 - 30 eventually food arrived at 4- 00 undercooked beef, veg was awful and the roasties were uncutable. Ordered deserts which took 45 mins to arrive, apple crumble was'nt a crumble it was sloppy. And after chasing each course, finally the bill at 5- 00 was glad to get out and we were overcharged for desserts we never had and drinks !!! Wont be going back !

Visited over bank holiday weekend, with our 3 dogs post walk (so they were damp), but we were welcomed with open arms. Dogs got dog treats on arrival, we got beers- then we found a great spot in their large beer garden. Food was incredible, music great, staff really polite and friendly to us and the doggos. Will definitely return.

I live in Bristol and wanted to find somewhere to meet up with my cousin from Devon. Taunton was halfway so I did a search of a local pubs and noticed this one. I'm currently trying to avoid gluten and dairy so it's sometimes tricky to eat out but Lucy who was looking after us totally understood and the chef delivered a really delicious meal (hake fillet with steamed broccoli and samphire). The pub was friendly and welcoming and I'd definitely rate it highly to anyone to hasn't been before.

Been a couple of times but never eaten until today.. the pub and staff, as always were lovely, the food was also fantastic served by Lucy who was polite and made sure everything was good with the food! And thanks for finding the charger will defo be back

We drove down to the Lamb and Flag In today, 15th, for lunch and received a warm welcome when we walked in, as it was only 12:20 we ordered a coffee and a pint of Otter Bright and were shown to a table. Everywhere was clean and bright.

Having been recommended this recently reopened village pub, we finally visited it last Sunday and immediately questioned why it had taken us so long to go ! Arriving just after 12.00 for some pre-lunch drinks, the cosy bar was pleasantly busy and diners were already tucking into, what looked and smelled, delicious looking plates of food. Although busy, the smart, friendly staff could not have been more welcoming or efficient.. By the time we tore ourselves away from the bar to sit down, we realised why our friends had told us that booking is essential .

I love the Lamb. Since it changed hands fairly recently it has been fantastic. The beers are good and there is a good choice of gins and wine. I haven’t eaten here since the change of staff but am reliably informed the food is excellent. It is very well run and the staff are very helpful and welcoming to everyone. Thank you for making my local pub such a great one.

Found the Lamb and Flag in the Good Beer Guide. It was well worth it. Out lunch was very tasty, with generous portions. Fantastic beer and welcoming of our dog. Staff were genuinely friendly and attentive.

This is not you average pub. The staff were attentive and friendly and the food was punching way abouve it weight. Loved the lamb and green vegetables as well as the chicken dish. Great atmosphere, delicious local ale and great wine selection. Will be returning.

Had a family of 13 birthday dinner. They organised the tables to a t shape so we could be nearer eachother to chat and not in a long row. Food was delicious great variety and options for vegetarians as well. Good service and would go back again

One of my favourite pubs , plenty of character and a lovely beer garden .Food was good , although a little expensive, compared to similar places . Good range of beers etc ..Will be back ..Has changed hands since April..

Went to the Lamb and flag pub tonight when we arrived it was more like a restaurant my wife had the Lamb and I had the 10 ounce rump steak it was cooked to perfection we loved it .The staff couldn't do enough for you It is well worth a visit Mike and Norma from Liverpool

I went hear to celebrate my Dads birthday. The 3 of us had the most delicious food, we were really blown away by the whole experience. Great food, great staff, already looking for a reason to go back. Enjoyed it so much only remembered to take one photo!

Not knowing the area, I chose the Lamb and Flag for a birthday lunch based on Trip Advisor reviews and thankfully the choice was a good one. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived to the moment we left and the food was delicious. I had tender lamb cooked to perfection and everyone in our party enjoyed their meals, including one member who’d asked if there was a gluten free menu and was told that anything on the menu could be adapted to suit. We spent the whole afternoon at the pub, moving out into the garden after eating and at no time did we feel pressured to move on.

We had a splendid evening at Lamb and Flag. Great service, delicious meal chosen from a small but well chosen menu. Food was freshly cooked from excellent ingredients. Well done at Lamb and Flag and have much success in the future.
