Lale in Greenwich

Ordered from here last night and was shocked at what we received. The potions was tiny! There was 4 tiny pieces of chicken in the kebab and literally a handful of chips. Thank god we ordered chips each as usually we share, that would not have been possible. It’s disgusting considering the price you pay.

Had a great meal with the family at Lale the other day. Delicious food, attentive and friendly staff and warm atmosphere. Lots of choices for vegans. Well priced and took me back to the Mediterranean.

Went there tonight after a long time and was hugely disappointed. We asked for 2 large doner which we assumed was going to be in pitta bread, without asking they gave us wraps with such a small amount of the doner we could hardly taste the meat from the bread and salad!! After driving there from Petts Wood, we felt it was a waste of our time and money and such a shame to these guys that had such a good reputation doing so bad! They need to go back to basics or they will be sure to continue to losses even the most loyal customers!

Bought. ‘Large’ kebab from these guys. The only thing large about it was the amount of lettuce they gave me. The portion was struggling to be a small and fit into a small kebab box with from 2 doors down, also leaving space in the small size box. This place is known for how long it’s been around but every time I go there recently is a disappointment. The meat was just about warm also.

I’ve been to a lot of Turkish places all over London. Usually north London is my go to as they have the best places. I must say Lale is by far the best Turkish place in south London. Their doner is pristine and always have good portions. Thanks guys. Always enjoy the food here. Highly recommended

We have been using this kebab shop for many years and always recommend to friends and family. We moved to Erith and still drive down to get a take away from there. Tonight we was shocked and disappointed by the size of these portions. The chips was like half the size u would get anywhere else and the combination kebabs looked smaller than a small. Absolutely gutted and will probably think twice before returning again. Such a shame what’s happened here?

The lale is the don of kebab shops. The guys behind the counter are always full of banter the service is second to none , I’ve used the lale for 30 years , and has become a home for the players in my football club Redvelvet fc. Keep up the good work , and hope your all safe & sound.

It’s great to find an authentic restaurant. They know what they are good at and they do it well, lovely food and great service what more could you ask for?

Exspensive; but warranted.. Best tasting food in town. A1 in every aspect. Ater eating there it will become a favorite diner.

Amazing kebab’s if you want the best kebab in London look no further. I have tried them from all over and always compare them to Lale’s and the are never as good Tony makes them. Been in Eltham forever and makes the best

amazing kebabs. best in the east! Haloumi also amazing for the veggies! go mixed open pitta rather than a wrap. chilli sauce is not spicy more of a tomato sauce so stick to the garlic sauce. chips can’t be faulted either could eat those with the salad and garlic on their own.

We went along on a Saturday night. The restaurant was quiet. There was good music and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Everything we ordered was excellent. We had bread, lots of starters and kebabs. The salad with the mains was great. The chips were excellent. The efe beers were great. A really good night out!

After a night out dancing and wanting something to eat, shot around the M25 before going home Eltham and Thought we should get a kebab. The only place to get a kebab is Lale’s as it is the tastiest kebab in South London. Nothing that I know of touches these. Everything is spot on. If your hungry and somewhere in the vicinity of London, it’s worth picking a kebab from here up. Until next time

Friends too us to this little gem on a Friday night and what a great time we had, we knew one of the waiters from the Ivy Cafe in Blackheath and he made us especially welcome, the owner was sitting inside the door, he also made us all feel very welcome, then we ate and without exception we all had a bloody good meal, plenty of fresh and tasty food, the wine was flowing and when the bill came up, again we were all very happy. This place is like going back in time with the decor, and some of the food on offer( how often nowadays do you get a proper prawn cocktail on offer) but please don’t change, all is good in this restaurant and I hope it stays that way for years to come.

Lale looks like the sort of unassuming kebab shop you see on every high street. Unlike the others, Lale has been going 35 years, is marvellous and has a 'secret' restaurant through the wood panels at the back of the shop. While slightly retro in food selection (think prawn cocktails, beef bourginon etc) it is top quality and reasonably priced! Excellent selection of kebabs and weirdly delicious chips that make accidentally skipping dinner as you went straight to the pub well worth your while. A proper local institution.

Me and the Mrs have been a couple of times great grub and drinks all at good prices we recommend to frinds.

The food is always amazing, warm atmosphere friendly staff and value for money.. Have been here several times and never had a bad meal

Well, this place is just an icon and I cant ever see anyone describing it as just a Kebab! Its the best simple! We visit the takeaway part every week sometimes a few times per week, we are known by name and have had many a meal in the back - Fame is just the best waiter and we love all the guys in the front, Incl the bosses - top blokes truly - my grown up kids of 17 and 20 will bite your hand off for a Lale takeout - the mixed grill in the back is just the best and the slim chips are just fab, I cant ever say I have had a meal I haven't enjoyed and we always have our fav tables - most birthdays are spent here for a meal and will be for years to come!

My family and I often use Lale for their takeaway, the best kebab we have had! We now often dine in their restaurant out the back, it’s homely, comforting, and a really lovely place for family or couples. The staff are always so friendly and remember who you are, the food is also beautiful! If you want somewhere traditional, personal and somewhere with amazing food, then definitely visit Lale.

Had our late Christmas meal with fellow staff from work. Been here twice before. The food was lovely. a great selection. the staff were lovely and friendly

Qué gran pequeño descubrimiento. . . desde el frente parece una tienda de kebabs normal, pero si atraviesas la puerta de madera de atrás, hay un pequeño y encantador restaurante. Parece rústico y un poco anticuado, pero tiene un gran ambiente y la comida es increíble. El personal es amable y me encanta cuando paran para charlar y te hacen sentir muy bienvenido.

Seated restaurant at rear of kebab shop front, you wouldn’t know it was there, restaurant was empty, was ok as there was 7 of us, probably be a bit snug if restaurant was full.

Hace 37 años que utilizo este restaurante tanto para llevar como para comer, incluidas varias celebraciones familiares. Excelente comida y servicio, tratados como familia. Todos los kebabs son buenos, filetes excelentes; Ambiente agradable y cálido. Vamos al menos una vez al mes.

No estoy bromeando. Solía vivir en el este, tengo kebab de buenos restaurantes locales como Eastanbul en Leytonstone, o su omonimous en Dalston. Deambulaba hambriento y borracho en Brick Lane y Bethnal Green Road, haciendo buen uso de un kebab para encontrar alivio. Solía ir a Holloway Road para encontrar buenos kebabs. Tuvimos un par de cenas en Haz, por el bien de tener una cara.

We’d had a couple of recommendations for Lale and certainly weren’t disappointed. The menu is Turkish plus a selection of traditional restaurant dishes. Quality of the food was excellent and it arrived piping hot. It was nice to eat it from plates on tables covered with tablecloths for a change instead of roof slates on a plastic table! The welcome and attention from the owners and waiter was great. The decor is quaint and olde worlde but comfortable and welcoming nonetheless. Hard to find fault with anything about the evening really.

Superbly flavoured food from one of the longest established restaurants in Eltham,this cuisine has become very trendy recently and it's a must visit if in the area..

We have not been back to the Lale for sometime and as a last minute decision we didn’t regret it. Food was delicious as always and have to make special mention of the Shish Kebab, Moussaka and Special Chicken

Have been using this place since they had opened, dam getting old. I have tried many places but this one wins hands down. Allways preping from the start, even making there own kebab meat and cooked to perfection every time. The owner has worked there from day one and still works serves and cooks. You will not find a better Kebab shop around. Try the Doner meat you have never tasted one better than this. Table service is perfect here aswell , If you can get a seat. Well done Lale 10/10

A pesar de su decoración interior y un poco casi italiano kebab shop aspecto, la comida era realmente delicioso y muy sabroso. Vale la pena visitarlo. Pedí un kebap kebab, que venía con más carne que en ningún otro sitio, incluyendo los restaurantes turcos en Turquía. Y la carne estaba deliciosa. Mi ensalada de tomate y cebolla también estaba buenísimo como los tomates deben haber sido elegidos de maduro y jugoso y la cebolla fue muy suave. Recomiendo encarecidamente el lugar para el sabor de la auténtica comida turca.

Top food, top restaurant, top people. Been eating here for years and will carry on. Even my 8yr old eats there snails in garlic sauce.

Si pasa por este lugar parece más kebab casas. Un par de chicos de cocinar en una parrilla con pinchos colgado esperando a ser cocinadas. Sin embargo, entra a través de la puerta casi escondida a la derecha y serán recibidos con un muy agradable totalmente asentado y zona de comedor.

He visitado este lugar un par de veces, ya que es uno de los muy pocos lugares en eltham que sigue abierto hasta tarde por la noche, cuando esperando el último autobús de regreso. De todos modos, sólo he usado el tomar parte, ya que creo que hay también un restaurante en la parte de atrás (aunque yo no sabía cómo llegar hasta allí, ya que no hay indicaciones).

Being married to a Turkish fella you would think I like Turkish food , well I don’t - but this place is different it’s absolutely lovely. Hakan and I drive from Sevenoaks to come to this little place , I prefer the take away , we dine in the car and we always get the best seats the quality is better then any other kebab shop and they need to take this to Turkey, I’m yet to find a good kebab in Turkey

Been coming here almost since it opened 35 years ago, and never had a duff meal. I've been made to fell welcome every time, and the food is amazing. Kleftiko is the best ever! Probably the best Turkish food outside Turkey.

Hemos estado comiendo aquí a lo largo de los años, desde el restaurante de comida para llevar y en el que en la parte trasera y siempre ha sido una comida realmente deliciosa y nunca tuvimos una mala comida. Eso fue hasta mi marido y pasó por allí para una comida para llevar, hace un par de semanas. Conseguimos enviando Hellos amable de algunos del personal allí, pero el hombre que sirve mi marido no parecía feliz en todo y no hacer contacto visual cuando toma su orden, que era 2 kebabs mixtos y pollo shish envoltura y 1 chips, en primer lugar, el precio de estos ahora es bastante caro, tuve un pequeño pollo shish que era de £6. 50 y sólo 4 piezas de pollo en el cual no gusto de nada, excepto de la parrilla de carbón que estaba preparado, que no había sido marinado y pedimos esto en una envoltura y lo conseguimos en el pan de pita. A mi marido le pareció que el doner kebab estaba muy seco y casi ningún sabor, mi hija también se quejaron de que era insípida. Todo esto por 28 libras. 00 y siento decir que no volveremos muy pronto. Quizás este fue un pero en esos precios hay algunos otros lugares en Eltham ahora que pueden competir y no son muy caros. Una pena, ya que este lugar siempre ha tenido una buena reputación.

Fui a Lale última noche para celebrar mi cumpleaños. Habíamos hecho una reserva como me dijeron que era un popular restaurante local.

This restaurant will not disappoint,from the food to the friendly staff down to the cost. If you like a bit of spice try the halep, you will want to revisit this little Jem in Eltham.

Hemos cenado varias veces aquí. Tenía pollo y cordero comidas. Un amigo que le gusta Lubina, dice que tiene la mejor Lubina en este lugar. Siempre 100% buena comida, bien preparada y bien presentada. Ambiente agradable. Quizás no es el restaurante más grande en tamaño de Eltham pero en este caso no importa!

We've been using this restaurant since 1990 and have never had a bad meal. The outside looks as if it is only a takeaway kebab shop, but open the door at the rear and you are in the friendliest, most atmospheric, and, dare I say it, romantic restaurant for miles around.

Visited here this weekend with Hubby and my Son. First time ever for me since living it over 20 years. My Husband visited as a young teenager with his family many years ago and he said the Restaurant deco hasn’t changed one bit. Staff very friendly and the restaurant very clean. It’s a little cramped in there as they have many tables in such a small place, but that adds to the atmosphere. Great music plays in the background and the Kebabs are the best, I’ve ever had.

Estaba en la zona visitando amigos y tomamos unas copas por la zona. TBH íbamos para un indio, pero a última hora decidimos ir dentro de unos cuantos de nosotros, lale tenía comiendo allí antes y dijo que era genial.

Vivió en Eltham durante 30 años y pensó que era sólo un restaurante tome una manera. Me alegro, me dijeron, comida genial (mejor que el Rixos) Servicio amable, buen ambiente y buen precio.

Came here with a friend. The place is nicely decorated and the atmosphere is warm although there were not many people there.

First visit to this restaurant and it wont be the last. Hidden behind a heavy wooden door in a kebab takeaway you wouldn't know it was there. I would imagine you would need to book at busy times as its quite small. Staff really friendly and food very good. Will definitely be back

We always go for family meals here and get our takeaways here too, there is NO other place to eat a special meal or have a takeaway! the food is fantastic, fame the waiter is a gem and my mum definitely agrees!!! this place knows us by name and we feel very welcome always, there's no rush and you never feel uncomfortable , all staff are amazing and just as friendly and welcoming - the food always spot on, cant complain if I tried to! cant wait for our next family birthday, although we have visited many times just as a couple or for a last minute dinner - thanks Guys!!

All meals 9 of us, and we all chose something different, were served hot together, eaten to completion and enjoyed by all with no complaints, great service, good atmosphere, plenty of time to chat, didn't feel rushed at all, great prices. Will return soon.

First time here and it lived up to all the reviews we read. The owner made us feel like nothing was any trouble and that he was only looking after us. Will be back and will certainly recommend.

Just visited this restaurant with 3 friends and everything about it is superb! We had the hot meze starters to share, which were fantastic, generous portions and tasty! Mains of chicken shish were delicious. Again generous portion sizes and cooked to perfection! Restaurant has the old school feel to it which is brilliant. A relaxed atmosphere and lovely, friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

The restaurant itself is really prettily decorated. Staff were really accommodating, friendly and attentive. The food was great, we were even offered a little extra as a gift on the house. Definite recommend for anyone visiting the area for a quick, delicious and charming meal!

I am off to the Lale in a minute for what must be the 100th time, Quite simply the best Turkish food i have ever eaten and that includes turkey itself, All the staff have a smile on there face the service is always first class, The entrance is through a kebab house dont be put off, One tip if you want a meal with chips ask for fat chips they will know what you mean.

Don't be put off by the typical 'kebab house' front of shop. There is a restaurant at the rear, that you enter through a Lin almost secret door.The staff and food are excellent and consistent. Myself and a colleague went for the mixed grill-Cooked to perfection. A hidden gem in a busy urban high street.

The quality of food and service continues to be first class. This cosy little restaurant with a hidden entrance through a takeaway kebab house cooks the most amazing kebabs in a traditional manner. I always have them with boiled rice and the most wonderful salad. Top it off with Efes Turkish beer and it is a tasty delight. The menu has plenty of variety with well cooked steaks always a popular option.

Not a lot you can say about kebabs. The ones here are full of meat and salad, tasty and with a restaurant around the back, you know it is a clean environment.

They have been here since 1980.Tethic and Mehmet (Tony and Steve) young Tony and other staff treat you like family,nothing is too much trouble.This time brought my sister for her first Doner kebab. You will never want to go anywhere else. Food is fabulous and fresh. Service with a smile from everyone.If you try it you will want to go back.

There is no doubt about it, Lale has the best freshly made doner there is (not like the frozen rubbish that is factory made you get everywhere else). The kebab is to die for too. Great food!

The Lale restaurant is delicious, you can eat in or take out which is positive. I have eaten there many times eat in and take out and i do not have any faults. The staff are very friendly and the prices are reasonable. I would definitely recommend as there good for many occasions, ive been as a romantic meal, a birthday, family dinner or a quick take out.

No place like it on earth comes close to the astonishing quality, food, service, hygiene and kindness presented by this place.Once you go regularly and get to know the staff you are treated like family.Regulars birthday meals are celebrated by the full staff plus unique pudding topped off with sparkling candles and cheer.Music is traditional Turkish and authentic. It almost makes the whole experience even more special.The waiter is a fun guy with a great sense of humour and a taste for a laugh with regulars.

Visited with children last year and again this month - all thoroughly enjoyed the kebabs with rice and salad. Also had steak Diane and meat was cooked perfectly medium with tasty sauce.Service was very friendly and owner was explaining that they have been there for many years. Charming place and would be best to book around weekend - we were fortunate that we went early in the week and so quieter but obviously popular with regular diners.We look forward to visiting again soon.

The food from this restaurant is absolutely amazing.It has flavour, it is fresh and it is cooked to perfection.We have a meal from this restaurant at least once a week, or we get a takeaway.The staff are wonderful, they are very friendly, helpful and accommodating and I would highly recommend you try this restaurant.I recently tried all the Turkish restaurant in the Eltham and new Eltham area and by far the Lale Restuarant is my best, no one can beat the Coban salad.

The best Turkish in South East London. Great food, lovely friendly staff and a good atmosphere. The lamb kebabs are so succulent and tender as are the chicken kebabs, all good.

This is the second time my wife and I have been to this restaurant. It was recommended that we should visit by someone who told me they had the best doner kebabs south of the river. I would further this and say they are the best in London.

If you blink you could pass this lovely little restaurant. On the outside it looks just like a typical take away but go through the wooden door and you find yourself in a small but inviting restaurant. The food and atmosphere are great and the price is good too.

My grandson loves this place and I agree, it's a little more expensive than some but you only get what you pay for. It's quick and you are in and out in five minutes normally. Lovely food lovely people first went here over twenty five years ago. Best kebab for miles around

Dined here again recently. I can't much more to my previous review on the Lale. Its remain a gem. A group of us dined here recently. Food and service were 1st class. One of the group said it was the best Sea bass he's ever had.The staff are great, friendly and helpful. Special mention to 1 waiter, though, haven't got his name. He is totally amazing in that he remembers your order from last time. A diamond geezer, as they say.Fully recommend the Lale, phone for a table and you won't be disappointed.

We have just had an amazing family birthday celebration meal in this lovely intimate restaurant. Thirty people each perfectly served . The quality of the meat in the kebabs is unmatchable. The sea bass was perfect. The portions are generous and well presented. The manager and staff are friendly and passionate about their food. It was perfect

Thought we would try this restaurant for my birthday meal. The outside of the restaurant looks just like a typical kebab take away. The shop front is a takeaway but when you open the restaurant entrance door you step into an eating area which some may say resembles an English tea room or a country pub. This was our first visit but the waiters made us feel like long standing customers. The menu is extensive with a variety of steaks and Turkish kebabs. I choose the Halep kebab - doner with tomato chilli sauce served on pitta bread. It was absolutely amazing, others choose chicken shish - melt in your mouth, and lamb cutlets - stunning. Service was excellent, waiters so friendly and funny. Really great dining experience, will definitely return and recommend to others.

A few years back this place was good but now it terrible, ordered 2 large mixed kebabs which are 12.90 each and all we got was old dry lamb doner dry lamb shish and a bit off kofte! Small portion compared too everywhere else and worse quality! Seemed like the kids working had no idea what they were doing! Sauces were shocking and salad that looked like it had been cut up by 4 year olds! Will never be stepping foot in there again! Much better quality and size around the area! WHAT A LOAD OFF CRAP! Sorry but it's the truth! Stay away!

Out first visit to Lale restaurant despite living in the area for the last 35 years. Not disappointed in any way. Mehmet (Steve) was most welcoming as were his brother and other staff. The food was well served, generous portions and delicious flavours. We will certainly visit again some time.

Great turkish food to take away, always my first choice. This is not your normal greasy fast food kebab.

My husband decided this is what he wanted to do on his birthday, a meal for 5 at our favourite place! Amazing food as always, great staff, fab atmosphere and just the best place to have a meal. We are well known here for takeaway and eat in and we will always be back, fresh food, great portions, the waiter Fame is lovely (my mum loves him!!!) its just the best food and you must must try it, but booking is a must as most days are busy as its just sooo good! From reading the reviews this restaurant clearly has a good following in Eltham. Personally I thought it was average, nothing to complain about and in the same token nothing to rave about. Staff were warm, friendly and polite, good size portions of food on plate, kebab okay but nothing special, I've certainly had better locally. The restaurant is small and its decor a little bit tired and needs updating. Pretty average really but that's my personal opinion however as stated previously it seems to be a great venue for others to eat.

Visited this restaurant on Christmas eve it was the first time in a few years.I had forgotten how lovely the food was,very large portion sizes.We where a party of 4 and all of us enjoyed our food.The staff at the Lale are fantastic,very friendly and helpful.will be going back in the future.

This is always been a regular spot for some time now. The queues on the weekend tell the story, the kebab is just great. the quality is top notch. its a bit pricey compared to the other kebab shops but at least you know with this place it is good quality meat. will continue to come here for many years...

What to say about Lale, have been visiting for years and the standard never drops. Amazing food, great service, friendly staff you have everything in this place. The quality of the dishes is incomparable and if you are like me and like your plate to have a decent amount of food on it (why would you go to a restaurant if it is not to eat) then this is a must visit if you are in London, easy train access from London Bridge straight to Eltham station. It is extremely busy on a daily basis so I recommend booking a table in advance.Finally to mention that there is also a take away section just before you enter the restaurant where you can get a quality freshly prepared kebab which are made on the premises and not made in a factory somewhere like most kebab places.Visit!

Regular at this restaurant. Its packed every day. Staff here are very nice! The food is out of this world!! Best kebab shop in London!!

Eaten here a few time, so tried most meats. Lamb shish is to die for! Always cooked to perfection! Friendly, helpful staff. No complaints at all!

The food is always excellent quality. No need for any sauces. Always presented lovely. I do not eat salad but it always tastes nice but there is always too much. Staff really helpful and friendly.
