We ate at one the best Greek food restaurant in London .The food was delicious and tasty and plates quite big .The service was very friendly and very polite .I recommend to everyone to visit it .

It was my first time visiting this amazing restaurant and it definitely won’t be the last! The food was out of this world, the staff were very friendly especially Dee. I’d highly recommend a visit, plus they have entertainment too.

The menu on a music night is pretty boring and overpriced for what it is. We went along on a music night only to find the acts that perform can be seen at other venues in the area at much more reasonable rates and often with much better menu options. My advice if you want a good tribute night at a fair price and don't want to be overcharged is to check out Da Peppino, Welling, or Limoncello just up the road. The entertainment is as good as any in the area , in Particular The Michael Buble Duo we have seen at Da Peppino. Visit this venue when there isn't music on and the menu isn't extortionate ........

Been going there for a lot of time on the Friday night ,most of the time I just booked it for my wife and my daughters to go and have a night out and watch Micheal Buble act , the food was ok, but mostly same all the time,and we had better dinner out,if it wasn't the entertainment,we won't goes there for the meals.

Nos saltamos el postre como él tenía un tren para coger, pero teníamos una botella de vino aceptable; y como el tamaño de la porción era bueno, ninguno de nosotros sentimos hambre al salir!

Went here early Saturday evening.parked car in a side road (30sec walk).As soon as we entered we were hit by lovely smell of Greek cuisine (just llike greek holidays)The restaurant is a fair size but has retained its imtimate feel.The hosts are very welcoming and friendly.The food was excellent,we had a meze (for 2 people),mixed grill and a chicken souvlaki....we could not eat all the food and we are fairly big eaters.The prices are reasonable but well worth it for the quality of food and portion sizes.we will definately return.

My work colleagues and I recently attended a Frankie Valli Tribute Night at Nico's restaurant. We had such a fun night. Good food, good service and great music - what more could you want!

We were warmly welcomed by the lovely staff in which turned out to be a truly fantastic evening. It was Michael Buble tribute night and he was great entertainment. The food was such a surprise though,perfectly cooked fish presented quite beautifully. That goes for all three courses truth be told, even though I'm not sure how I managed the dessert as portion sizes are big. The service was impeccable and I can't wait to return again very soon to what is one of our loveliest local restaurants . I recommend wholeheartedly ... You will not be disappointed.

This was a birthday bask for Mum who was 84. We booked as we know there is usually a tribute act on Fridays, and this night it was Rod Stewart. One of the party had been before but for the rest of us we were Nico virgins.Having been to tribute nights before I was expecting a lot of pre-cooked, microwaved meals that made it easier for them to serve a lot of people, but this was all fresh and mainly cooked to order.The fish was nice, and the meat dishes were superb. Everyone loved the desserts.The service is good, the atmosphere great and the whole evening a success.

I live very local and have been to Nicos many times over the years. The food is always good and staff friendly, but PLEASE add to your menu. It has been the same old menu for years. In fact, it has got to the stage where if you've visited this restaurant more thsn twice, you actually dont need to read the menu. I ate there a few months back and was treated to an extra 'specials' menu. I had squid with chorizo, which was lovely, but have been to the restaurant twice since, with no additional specials. Please add again, as your menu now is predictable and becoming a little boring.

Food needs improvement, calamari frozen out of a packet, mixed grill consisted of 1 small lamb chop, 1 dry chicken skewer, 1 pork skewer, 1 uneatable sausage, 1 grilled tomato and a mushroom, not very Greek either, overall the food is very poor, we were a table of 15 so had most of what was available from the menu, which isn't much of a selection, service was also lacking, no bread or side plates, not even a cocktail stick to pick up olives put on the table, desserts very nice but again small portions, overall not a place to recommend.

We went for a birthday meal on a Michael Buble tribute evening. It was very busy and had a party atmosphere, which was good, albeit very noisy and quite hard to have much conversation over dinner. However the food was well cooked and tasty, I have to question a couple of choices on our set menu, a Pork Belly dish and mash served with chicken kebabs (not very Greek). No Lamb! Aside from this we all enjoyed all of our 3 courses and the entertainment was excellent.

Had a wonderful Christmas Day lunch with my family food was delicious and plenty of it all thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to do it again next year

This has become my favourite restaurant. The food is always fantastic and the service normally fabulous. Occasionally the service can be a bit slow but this is when they are really busy. Staff are always friendly and helpful.In my view this is one of the better places to eat drink and celebrate. On Fridays there is live entertainment with tribute acts and they have a function room for private parties. Did I mention the food. Fantastic.

My husband and I came here for a date night. It was the first time in a few years that we had been.From start to finish the experience was amazing. The service was great and the food was delicious.We will definitely be returning here.

We went as large group, the food was delicious but the whole experience was ruined by the over-priced drinks!I personally think £20.70 is too expensive for 2 beers, one white wine spritzer and a Coke!Would stop me visiting again!

Went to this taverna for the first time on Friday 23rd October with 2 other couples. There was a "tribute to the musicals" night and didn't really know what to expect. As the night progressed you could really tell that this is a family run restaurant and the service was excellent throughout, not rushed and not huge gaps between courses. All of us agreed that the food was delicious and well presented. The singer that night was brilliant too and we will definitely be returning in the future.Thank you all at Nico's for a great night and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Restaurant standard food is of ok quality. Service was a bit slow. The food generally lacked taste...mediocre, and has been adapted for the 'English tourist abroad market'. Deserts were of a very good standard. Restaurant was far too noisey. Came away a bit disappointed.

Visited Nico's recently with friends.The restaurant wasn't overcrowded.Several birthday parties were taking place which were a bit noisy and meant it was difficult to talk, but the atmosphere was enjoyable.The food was good value and everybody enjoyed it.

Having experienced a brilliant evening at Nico’s earlier in the year we returned to celebrate my Mum’s birthday. The Friday night in question had a Michael Buble tribute act.This particular evening was a far cry from the last visit and I have now questioned if I will return. Our order was taken and upon serving our starters, 3 of the 5 dishes were incorrect. The second one of our party put down there cutlery the waiter (Looked like he was in charge) rushed over to swipe away our plates. My Mum had to say 3 times that she was not finished and we started to feel uncomfortable with him watching our table waiting to remove the plates. The meze dips were nice but the Haloumi left a lot to be desired and was rubbery and tough.The mains were mediocre with the Chicken Slouvaki being a dish of chicken, mash and green beans with gravy (Not very Greek at all). Although the Beef Stifado was very tasty.Again our plates were rushed away after eating.Another factor that ruined the evening, which was no fault of the restaurant was a table of very rude ladies who thought it acceptable to sit with their chairs pushed out and keep hitting our chairs and backs.When we asked for our bill it arrived with 2 bottles of wine which we had not ordered, added to the total. This was explained as being for the table of ladies behind us and only a half-hearted apology given.The only redeeming factor was the Michael Buble act who was amazing but all in all the restaurant has very much gone downhill.

Great night at Nico's, Mid week and it was nearly full, the food was refreshingly real Greek, the sauces and the dips all home made and an utter delight, the service was impeccable and friendly and the whole experience left me full to the brim but still wanting to try more dishes. And I did not get to try the deserts, we will be back.

We are born and bread Greeks and we have stopped trying Greek restaurants in London as nothing tastes like the real thing. Well, food in Nicos does and we could hardly believe it! Feels not just like a restaurant in Greece but like my mum's cooking! Every dish was excellent but spanakopita, kleftiko and souvla were the winners for me. Baklava and the honey ice cream were simply delicious. Service was lovely and Nicos is what you would except from a Greek host, warm and welcoming. Can't wait to go back!

I have eaten in Nico's many times before and decided to have my wedding dinner there. I got married in New York so wanted to do something with family and friends. I booked in advance a few months before. There were about 30 of us. We had the upstairs room all for ourselves which was fantastic. There was a table for our wedding cake as well. The service and food was amazing as always. The staff couldn't do enough for us and were very professional but relaxed at the same time. I would highly recommend Nico's and will of course be visiting again very soon. Thank you all at Nico's for making our wedding dinner memorable, all our guests had a great time and enjoyed the food.

We had my daughters 18th at Nico's and had the upstairs room for our sole use for 40 family and friends. Dee and her staff were so helpful, they arranged the menu, table plans and wine. Let us in earlier to bring balloons and decorate the tables. All we had to do was turn up. The food was of a good standard, with decent sizes potions (sea bass was divine) and all 40 of us were served at virtually the same time - not easy I know. I have been to a couple of the tribute nights here with work and they are always well organised and lively but I have also had a quiet meal with friends and obviously there is more choice on the al a carte menu so it just depends on what you want. We had a lovely evening and several of our guests have said what a great night it was so I would highly recommend Nico's .

This is a quite authentic Greek taverna and does make you feel like you've stepped onto a Greek Island somewhere. We started with dips and flat bread and they seemed to be homemade with quality ingredients. The mixed grill took a little while to arrive and was cooked to perfection with really great chips on the side. A good selection of wines including some good Greek choices and very friendly service. All in all good value and very tasty food. We'll come again!

The food is fantastic, especially the meze which is great value too! We genuinely couldn't finish it there was so much! The team are great and can accommodate any occasion, the restaurant can accommodate pretty much any size group (my husband proposed to me here 14 years ago and we recently celebrated my 40th Birthday here with 12 family members). The food and service have been consistently great over the 14 years. The team go out of their way to make sure your experience is great, special occasion or not. We will definitely be going back (maybe we will try out one of their tribute nights).

Beef stifado dry .... Very disappointed ... Will never visit again ... Whole experience disappointing

The staff were very polite and attentive, but the food, varied amongst 20 of us was very average. I had ribs, they were ok served with oven chips and 'iceland' onion rings. Very average when you look at the prices.

Came here in February for my birthday celebrations. Booked to for the entertainment, which was a Frankie Valli tribute. The food was lovely but you are limited as the menu is different when paying for the entertainment package.Our waitress was lovely and made suggestions of alternative drinks choices when what we required was unavailable.All in all a great night and I would thoroughly recommend.

My son and his partner took me to Nicos for Mothers Day. From setting foot in there until setting foot out of there we were treated wonderfully. The starters of garlic prawns, scallops and meatballs in garlic sauce were absolutely superb. Our mains were great but seeing we all had kleftico (the best) I can't comment on the other meals but they did look great. The staff are fantastic the food wonderful and the wine list was very good too. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

10 of us had a table here on Sat fif my birthday. Hadn't been here for years. My online booking & questions beforehand were dealt with promptly by Dee & on the night the good was great & our waiter Nico was lovely & very attentive. We were the last to leave but had a great night

This was the third time our walking group has celebrated our birthday at Nico's Taverna, and each time everything has been just right. The food is always delicious, the service friendly, courteous and most efficient, and the atmosphere excellent. Serving a group of 23 people all at the same time - particularly when the restaurant is full - never seems to pose any problem to the lovely family who run this terrific restaurant. We are already looking forward to our next birthday gathering at this great restaurant. From all 23 of us, thank you to Nicos, Deirdre and Serena - and not forgetting chef.

I have been to this restaurant 3 times, one of which was a Buble tribute night last night. On previous occasions the restaurant the service was great and the food was fine. Last night was the first time we had experienced the tribute night and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a great atmosphere with people up dancing and 'michael buble' sounded just like him and was a very close resemblance too. However, i wasnt overly impressed with the food. We had a set menu to choose from with lots of choice - though no vegetarian main - and the cost was £40 per head. I had haloumi for starter, kleftico for main and cheesecake for desert all of which were of generous portions. The haloumi was large and therefore quite rubbery as it was almost a whole pack on my plate and the kleftico was a slow cooked piece of lamb in a bowl of its cooking juices. I half expected some sauce or a jus to go with it to make it greek but it tasted just like a normal sunday dinner to me so i was a little disappointed. The cheesecake was a bit odd with chili in it and i know this is fashionable and i do like this combination but it just didnt seem to work. My husbands beef stifado was a huge bowl of beef stew topped with cheese and served with chips and he was also underwhelmed by it. I may just be being picky with the food, having recently been to some michelin starred places but i wouldnt go back again for the food. Though i would go back again on a tribute night as it was a good night out. It wasnt cheap either with the bill for 4 of us coming in at £230 including the service charge - though we did have 2 bottles of prosecco and 3 beers to go with it.Lots of people on here seem to rave about the food at Nicos so its worth a visit to make up your own mind.

We went last night in a group of 10 to celebrate 3 birthdays, and was blown away with the food. Lovely large portions and was the best food I've had in a restaurant. The service was 10/10, nothing was too much trouble. I really liked the plates and the way everything was presented. Definitely be going back and would highly recommend it.

Our first visit! When looking at the menu on-line spotted the offer of a free bottle of wine if you signed up for the e-mails! It was an excellent French Sauvignon Blanc. We all had the Mezze dinner at £21. Amazing course followed amazing course until we were all full. The owner then boxed up what was left and we are still eating it, enjoying every bite!!We will certainly return, maybe for one of the forthcoming tribute nights!

We booked in her for a Christmas day dinner. We being 8 adults and 2 children. When we walked in the place was warm and had a lovely atmosphere with Christmas music playing. Out table was arranged beautifully for Christmas and besides the usual crackers etc there were 3 quite large chocolate santas on the table, gold money coins and a box of after eights. The place was full of other happy revellers but the service was speedy and efficient. The staff went all out to make sure that everyone enjoyed their Christmas day experience. We'd all pre ordered our meals and none of us were disappointed. Some of us had traditional turkey while others chose the kleftico all of which were accompanied by delicious potatoes and mixed vegetables. I'm not sure what time the first sitting was but lots of the tables were in full swing by the time we arrive for ou 2.00pm sitting but people were still arriving at 5.00 for their meals obviously giving people a good variety of times to suit their particular needs. Even the ladies washroom had wonderful Christmas features. I'm not sure how much prices vary from place to place. This cost of £65 a head (without drinks) but we knew this when we booked it. Ws it worth it? Defintely. Will visit again without a doubt but I wont wait until next Christmas.

Went here with a group of friends and this was a lovely surprise. Portion sizes were large and for a good price too. Waiters & waitresses were helpful and kind too. Very nice atmosphere too. The only thing I'd say is that if you're very fussy, just be prepared that they may not be able to change aspects of their menu to suit you, depending on the time of day. That's what happened to a friend of mine. Nevertheless, I'd return there and recommend it in a heartbeat.

This is a lovely restaurant with great service. Can be a bit expensive but always busy so that may be why. Kleftico is very tasty and it is the kind of place you never want to leave. Music nights also good fun

Been using this restaurant for many years and always have a lovely evening with my friends. Food always a high standard. Very well cooked and great choice. The service is very attentive and friendly. The themed nights are great fun - great singers and live music. Ask to sit downstairs if you prefer to be nearer to the live music and want to have a dance. Our favourite local restaurant.

I have visited this restaurant on many occasions over the last ten years and have always had a fabulous meal. Nico and his lovely family run the restaurant and always provide a warm and friendly welcome. We go for special evenings such as birthdays etc, and sometimes mid-week just for a lovely dinner on our own.The menu is excellent with lots of choice and is changed every now and then. Mostly traditional Greek type food.The fish is always brilliant (especially the sea bass fillets and whole sea bream), the chicken moist and tasty and the lamb tender and succulent. The beef dishes can be rather intense. Vegetarian dishes are lovely too. The staff will accommodate any needs you have and will mix/match to suit your taste. House wine is very pleasant and good value.The restaurant is well placed in New Eltham, close to the station and lots of parking in the surrounding streets. It is a very clean, warm and inviting place with an upstairs area used on busy evenings. I actually prefer the upstairs as it is quieter.A great place to go, you will not be disappointed.

I visited Nicos with my fiancé and another couple. We wasn't expecting much as don't usually rate local restaurants but this was very good.Good selection of starters including the vine leaves which I really enjoyed. I had the sea bream for my main which was huge as well as tasty. I would definitely recommend having the fish or one of the specials as they looked far better than the chicken souvlaki. The staff were friendly and reliable. My only criticism would be that the atmosphere was a bit flat but I have been passed the restaurant many times when the atmosphere has been banging so this may have been a one off.

As a family run business this has to be the best restaurant in South East London. The welcome from all the family is always amazing, nothing is too much trouble, atmosphere is always happy and relaxed and food really is superb. If you like large portions this the place for you, whatever I order I have never been disappointed only with the fact I cannot finish it all. If you don't want chips you can swap for anything else nothing is too much trouble. I have been 2 years running for Christmas Dinner and you would think you are part of the family, nothing is too much trouble, always a pleasure go there, and New Year's eve is when the party really starts again such good value for everything you are not rushed out and you can still be there at 3am not pushed out the door. If you like value for money I couldn't express more the music nights with the entertainment and a 4 course meal it's exceptionally good value, and the guy posing as Rod Stewart is just marvellous. They have a secret recipe here and it's the customer always comes first maybe other restaurants should follow suit.

Everyone really enjoyed their meals Drinks were very reasonably priced for a restaurant . Prosecco very good Spotlessly clean . I really can't praise the restaurant enough and can't find one fault ... Well maybe a complimentary drink with the bill but we did get a container of delicious Chinese gooseberries which more than made up Thank you for a wonderful evening

I have visited Nico's many times over the years and it has always been amazing. As far as I am concerned it is one of the best restaurants in South East London.The service is always warm and friendly but with enough personality to make you feel at home. I have seen the same faces waitering and in the kitchen for the last 5 years, which shows what a dedicated team they have and also what a nice place it must be to work. Owner Nico, his wife Dee, and daughter Serina are always helping out and it is good to see owners that care enough about their customers to still wait tables and sometimes cook meals themselves.The food is spectacular. My personal favourites are Haloumi, and the Mousaka. Kleftico is superbly cooked every time, succulent fall off the bone lamb, and the Meze is a great Greek experience, but you need to be really hungry and have a friend to help you finish it all!I have seen in the New Year twice with Nico's and have attended a couple of the live music nights. They make a great night out and the Tom Jones tribute is so good you would think he was the real thing!If you prefer a quiet meal they have an upstairs which is smaller and quieter. It is very nice to have a more intimate dinner.I can't wait to go back!

What a pleasant surprise! I've never been there before and I've heard mixed reviews about Nico's but we were driving around and decided to give it a go. So pleased that we did!! The food was gorgeous. We shared a Mezze meal and we were both so full at the end of all the different courses - they just kept coming with more food.I will definitely go back and heartily recommend you give it a try. I love Greek food and this place ticked all the boxes. Clean, pleasant surroundings, nice decor and good service.Happy!
