Lakeview Palace in Havering

Food came out cold. Poached egg had runny white yet not a runny yolk. Very odd and not really edible. Toast, which they claimed had butter on it, was inedible - just completely soggy - as though they’d poured water on it. Inedible (unless you like wet bread). Bacon was ordered as ‘well done’ but wasn’t. Largely inedible. Bubble and squeak was ok. Tea was weak. My companion’s fried tomatoes were cold and her mushrooms were cold and colourless (suppose to have been fried). I mentioned the dreadful toast to which I got no reply, just a dirty look. Such a shame as we have often eaten there before (similar items) and it used to be really nice. Definitely the last time I ever go there. I would certainly avoid it if I were you, but who knows, maybe some folk like soggy bread, weak tea, cold fried tomatoes and barely cooked mushrooms… with a side helping of unfriendly service. If so, this is the place for you!

Had a really good time at Lakeview this afternoon, weather was ok but the setting and service were fantastic. Food good too! We came late in the day so unfortunately my 1st choice had sold out but my alternative was lovely and everyone in my party enjoyed their meals. Despite it being the last hour of service the whole place was still clean and organised and all the staff were happy and friendly. 10/10 from me, really impressed and we will definitely come back soon

The cafe is so friendly. Ali and his family always welcoming. Menu is varied but you can go off-piste. Food great quality and generous portions. My favourite is seared salmon with salad and jacket potato. Breakfasts are great too. Lovely views of the lake. They’ve redecorated recently and added an upstairs with views of the park and lake. They’ve made it such a success. Well done Ali and family and staff. You’re all brilliant! Thank you for contributing to our community.

We stopped here when I went for a walk with my friend. It was very busy, but we found a table . We had a tea cake and a soft drink here. The drinks were lovely and cold. They bought the tea cake out to us when it was ready. I think it is only cash here, might be card over a certain amount. The staff are very friendly, there is a lot of seats and tables inside and outside. It’s lovely to sit by the lake and see the swans and other birds. This is a great place to stop if you are in the park or just for having a drink if you walking. It gets really busy and the queues can be long but it’s worth waiting for. They have toilets here, they also serve alcohol which is new since the last time I went here. It’s clean and tidy but if it’s hot be prepared for a wait to be served, but I would wait. We will be going back.

The café is local to us so have been a few times. The new outside covered seating area is a great asset as a lot of dog owners stop by on their walkies. The food is always good but it does get very busy. On our most recent lunchtime visit it was very busy and maybe they were short staffed but our table was sticky and wasn't clean when we sat down. It didn't get wiped over at all and another table near ours didn't get a clean either.

Nice lunch by the lake with a few friends. Really friendly staff and nice food too. Great value for money and lots to choose from on the menu. Great views of the lake..

Long walk in Hornchurch Country Park with our German Shepherd, and then a visit to the Lakeview Palace for some Lunch! Great place, always full of dogs. The food is good and value for money too, and we are always made to feel really welcome, and our dog feels at home and is always at ease. Definitely worth a visit!

Great little cafe by the water, with a wide choice on the menu. We can take our dog inside which is great as the outside space is always occupied when the weather is nice. We went for the Lakeview Brunch for £8.80 with a coffee and toast and it didn’t disappoint.

Lovely little cafe by the lake with indoor and outdoor seating, friendly staff, good service and really nice food too. Really like this place, and we visit quite regularly, and the prices are Reasonable too.

Nice relaxing lunch al fresco overlooking the lake, watching the swans and ducks and the peddle boats on the lake. The location is excellent, the setting is beautiful, the staff are really friendly and the food is very nice and reasonably priced. Been here a few times now, and it’s a little gem. 😀

Beautiful place to have a spot of lunch on a hot sunny day like today. Sitting outside by the lake, watching the ducks and swans on the lake and surrounded by flowers and trees. This place is dog friendly, and it’s in a park, so don’t be surprised to see a few dogs here. The food is wholesome, reasonably priced, well presented and in good sized portions, and the staff are friendly too. There is a £10 minimum spend on cards, so bring some cash if you only want a coffee or tea. I have been here a few times and have always enjoyed it. I will definitely visit again!

Such a beautiful place to enjoy breakfast lunch or dinner with our family, friends and now little pup. Always excellent customer service from all staff, we really enjoy coming here and always feel welcome!

£10 minimum spend is out dated and a rip off. Food was ok and ambiance nice but £10 minimum cars spend is just criminal. And doesn’t deserve loyalty.

This really is a palace great food, owned by the nicest people that genuinely care, and staff, coupled with great food and staff never fails to hit the spot, thanks for looking after us.

Thought I'd gone back in time when I wasnt able to buy two teas this morning. £10 minimum spend for cards. I know they get charged for usage but it's a percentage of the purchase so its hardly mega bucks is it. Also I wonder if they realise they are breaking visa and mastercard rules by doing this. I hope they read this and check the rules before somebody reports them.

Been here a few times and Food is great but on this occasion today I was served toast with the ends of the bread which I find very annoying and a cop out because of this I won't be using again they could have asked before serving it as alot of people don't like that part of the bread

Visited here on Sunday 19th ( Father’s Day) so obviously expecting it to be busy. Arrived at 12-10 and was told 45 mins. We decided to wait as the food etc is nice and it’s a nice cafe. We proceeded to wait 1hr 20 mins for two toasted sandwiches, a full English and poached Egg on toast. The frustrating thing was we saw tables leave and new customers sit down and then proceed to get served before us. We had to order extra tea as the first cup we had was drunk an hour earlier. Unfortunately the wait wasn’t worth it this time. Bacon was burnt and eggs were flat and rock hard. I will return again during the week when not busy as it is a pleasant cafe. My wife did ask for some sort of discount etc but was told no. It’s a shame as the staff do work hard and I understand it gets busy but still serve people in order and I believe 80 mins is too much for basic sandwiches etc.

What a lovely Cafe by the lake and what a nice view. The food was really nice and the service was excellent. You get a lot of food for your money and good quality ingredients too. Had a lovely afternoon with our friends and will definitely come here again.

I order placed a order for 4 meals one was a kid meal waited 45mins then find out the lady didn’t add. One of the Meal to my order not really any kind of apology for missing the order off only that it was my fault. May be when people order food you should read it back and also we was missing cheese from the jacket potatoes that stated tuna and cheese. Total a bad experience

I really love it here, it’s a fairly recent discovery for me around six months ago. It really is whiffed gem. The sausage and onion sandwich is to die for, so fresh and delicious. Great cakes, lovely string tea, friendly staff, what more could you want? Dogs allowed so bear that in mind and it can get noisy at times.

Winter or summer, rain or shine the cafe is alway a great place to visit. It's a dog lover's haven. Dogs are allowed inside and it's always great fun for dogs and their owners to meet up. The food is great quality and really good portions. The coffee is excellent and the staff are all friendly and attentive.

Have seen it advertised, but never been before. Bank holiday Monday lunchtime visit. Yes it was busy, but great service. Food was lovely, fresh and hot. Would definitely go back.

I have been here before then went for another visit yesterday with my granddaughter. Coffee is fantastic as well as food, the food is cooked to order. but we did not wait a long time. The have a good choice of menu and well worth the money.

Visited today for lunch, waited 50 mins for a jacket potato , gammon and chips and a sausage and egg baguette. The order didn’t come out altogether and the waitress was really rude, she didn’t offer any apology for waiting so long, the gammon and jacket was ok, but the baguette had an over cooked hard fried egg and one sausage cut into slices so was very dry and the baguette was hard and stale. My daughter couldn’t eat it and especially after waiting for so long was very disappointed. I told the waitress, I was then offered a refund but the manager woman came over to the table and started to tell me very rudely that if I wanted more egg and sausage I should have ordered more and that’s how it comes, she didn’t offer any apology or understanding and I was made to feel very unwelcome. Won’t be visiting again

I come here all the time, atleast once a week and have lunch/brunch and a drink. It has never failed to meet amazing standards. With a lovely view and extremely friendly people. I think it’s brilliant that they allow dogs it wouldn’t make sense if they didn’t. But anything for dogs is served on a paper plate. They are currently expanding and can’t wait to see it when it’s qll finished. Defo recommend you won’t be let down!!!

Called into Lakeview Palace as had heard good comments about the restaurant. In a great area overlooking lake in the middle of park. Good parking. You can have a walk in the park before or after eating. Very rainy so went straight for lunch. Packed when we got there with lots of dog walkers and a mixed age of customers. Very friendly and you could see lots were regulars. We decided on chicken kebab rice salad, grilled chicken rice salad and meat pie roast potatoes and veg and hot drinks. Food all freshly prepared and presented well and tasted really good. Saw other meals being served up which looked equally appetising. We are already planning our next visit and hoping for sun so we can sit outside overlooking the lake. Menu had great choice. Highly recommend

Great place for coffee or lunch. Chilli is highly recommended for those that like a bit of a kick, 🙂.

I would defy anyone to find a cafe/restuarant which gives better value for money.set in Harrow lodge park overlooking the boating lake,family run,- excellent service prices are exceptionally competetive have frequented this establishment on a regular basis and have never had a bad meal varied meals Sunday roast lamb beef chicken or pork served daily various omelettes including Spanish and fish meals also kiddies menu available

Very pleasant staff, coffee and tea cake delicious. The plates of food looked amazing, very tempting chips! The only downside for me is dogs inside (I am allergic to their fur) but given where the place is located in a very large park it’s ideal for dog walkers.

What a place, the new owners took over from an old shack to a brilliant place. The new owners have got this right, lovely location overlooking the lake. They are planning to put a roof terrace owing to planning permission and a drinks licence I believe. What I really like about this one is that you can have a nice walk through the park, and enjoy a meal [very good menu and not pricey] or just a drink. Car park in the park has plenty of spaces. I wish the new owner all the success in the world as they deserve it.

Fantastic food (especially the Sunday roast) & the staff couldn't be better. BUT now the winters coming I hope the heating is sorted out !!!!

Read a few good bits on local FB page, gave it a try today. Lovely great value Sunday roast followed by Cherry Pie & custard. Absolutely nothing to complain about, thanks to the folks that run it :)

Hi heard great reviews about this place so decided to go today. Lovely place. Very busy but that’s good. Food was lovely. Husband had a full English breakfast. All nice except the bubble and squeak had been puréed too much and was sloppy inside. But that really is all that was wrong will come back but hope the bubble is more solid!

Visited for a lunch with my wife: we had jacket potato with chilli;cheese salad; a tea and a coffee for just over 11 pounds. Not only was the food reasonably priced, it was hot, fresh and very tasty. You get a lovely view of the lake and the staff are really friendly.

What a transformation, new family took this over a couple of years ago and I’m sitting here after an excellent big breakfast which really hit the spot, whilst drinking my coffee on the lakes edge.

I’ve been going to this cafe since I was a child and have always loved it! Although it is under different management, they have done a blinding job at making it a nice place to be. I’ve only ever got ice cream there, but it’s lovely that I can take my dog in with me too.

Pleasant lakeside setting as the name implies with plenty of outdoor seating. Sweltering weather so many of us (including me) just went for drinks. However - I wish I'd been hungry enough for a fuller meal. The menu offers choices for most tastes and appetites plus home-made cakes. Tea/coffee very reasonably priced, in mugs and plenty of fruit tea choices too.

Best service, friendliest staff most delicious food and at a very reasonable price! Great location a fantastic view over the lake while you’re eating, I absolutely love it here and I visit at least twice a week I would give it 6 stars if I could.

Went here today for a coffee after a Havering Walking for Health walk in the park. It was good and average prices at £2.20 each. The outside area is really lovely, overlooking the lake. The food looked good, although I didn't eat this time.

This is my local park and I’m so happy with the new owners, they have had a major overhaul of decor and staff and they couldn’t be any nicer. The decor is lovely and so are the staff. Always amazing service with a lovely welcoming smile from both male and female staff. Food is lovely and I’d say very reasonably priced. Lovely hot chocolate and well needed after a cold walk with two young boys.
