Good for families, everyone .. near railway lovely walks and water activities

I like to come here and have some drinks and food relaxing. But I have to make a comment regarding the cleanliness. I just observed the boy going around the tables collecting cups , plates etc but not cleaning it . And really look dirty , the floors are dirty too ,

We always enjoy visiting here when we are staying at Ferry Meadows. It was very busy this weekend due to the brilliant weather, but the service was slow resulting in long queues. Food is very good. Good views across the lake and it's fun to hire a Swan or Dragon on the water.

I am really sad about my experience today for lunch, I ordered pasta Bolognese it was £11.50 and basically when I got it… it was tiny and what they call homemade sauce and parmason cheese it’s straight up tasting like vomit no joke, but honestly other than the cafe… it’s a nice space to walk around and hang out I would go here constantly but please please PLEASE sort your god damn food out now cuz what did the people do to it when working back there (it took them 20 minutes to get my food ready by the way) I guess some employee vomited all over their homemade cheese and sauce 😡 (PS if I come back and it’s overpriced I’m gonna hit you with that Heyyy there big thermometer) but pls sort it out… not funny… ridiculous prices for food GRRRRRR

We visited on Sunday, it was very busy but service was very good, with a friendly smile & prompt delivery of food.

We called in for coffee during a winter weekend walk around the lakes. Lots of choice for meals and cakes etc but we just had coffees and a cookie. Had to wait for a table to be cleaned but the place was really very busy and the young lady apologised and came to clean it as soon as she noticed us waiting. Coffees were nice and cookie was tasty. Place was a bit chaotic but they did their best.

We come here every time we stay in the area at the local campsite. The food is always lovely especially the breakfast and the staff are the best. Every single one of them are always very helpful and friendly.

A decent lunch was had by all (9 of us). The food was good quality and reasonably priced.

Had good coffee Dog sausage not that good left on plate by my dog Toast came to table good at to go back as no butter or marmalade came out But other wise good time

Visited this cafe recently, and I can confidently say it’s one of the worst experiences I’ve had here. The staff clearly have no idea what they’re doing—totally disorganised. All the tables were filthy when we arrived, with no effort made to clean them. To make matters worse, they completely forgot my daughter’s sandwich order. I had to stand around awkwardly for 20 minutes waiting, feeling like an idiot. Customer service here is non-existent. Absolutely shocking. Won’t be coming back again—places like this are proof that good customer service is a thing of the past.

Lakeside Kitchen and Bar recently hosted a dinner event for our organisation and we were truly impressed with the quality of service and attention to detail. Lotte and her team were incredibly helpful in the organising stage with quick response rates and flexibility. On the day of the event, the room was laid out beautifully, all details taken care of and Lotte and her team were very attentive, great at checking in and responding to our needs. The chocolate brownies were also a highlight! Thank you, it was a lovely, stress-free experience.

Very nice hot chocolate and the rocky road cake was good

It's a nice enough place for a stop when walking around Ferry Meadows. Trays and left over cups and food everywhere outside though, which considering it's in a country park with lots of wildlife, probably isn't a great idea. Prices are not so bad and it's nice sitting outside looking out over the water. Can't comment on the food as we had drinks only.

Our experience with Lotte was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. She was instrumental in helping us craft the perfect menu for our womens wellness event, clearly explaining the pricing and different options available. Throughout the event itself, Lotte was an invaluable presence – friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure our needs were met. Served very cold coffee had to complain and get it replaced

A large meeting of our Trefoil Guild met here for a fun activity day, followed up with a cream tea. Room prepared for us, super service and really lovely tea

Popped in here after a walk and then was delighted to find great service with the most delicious selection of cakes. I had the best coffee and walnut cake and hubby was more than happy with his caramel drip cake. Great pots of tea too.

I sang songs there a had a fantastic time I had a cake 🎂 🥮 I would highly recommend it

It is very very expensive like everywhere that has a nice view. I had a smoothie £5 and a lemon drizzle cake £4.. I actually shared the cake to save money between us. A lovely setting on the lake though

Lovely place to eat if you want a bite by the river. Staff are friendly. Ordered pork belly which came very underdone/ no crisp (but edible so didn't complain) and the onion rings were almost white and also underdone. Partners pizza came out looking very nice.

Such a lovely place that has amazing scenery but my god, the organisation is absolutely shambolic. Spending most of my day here just standing in a queue for food and drink! The atmosphere would be far more happy and vibrant, if you weren't surrounded by others who are in the same circumstance as me, stood here, wasting my time to get food, drink and ice cream. Management, get a grip of it and also open the bar! You'd drastically improve your queue issues if you did. So, I better resume my place in the queue... Number 50 in the queue to be exact.......

Nothing better than a cup off coffee N slice of lakesides finest cake sitting by the lake watching the world go by whatever the weather 10/10 in all respects. Keep it up will be back this year for another birthday.

Lovely place to go food is good. The only thing I would say is that one lady came while we're eating and drinking tea. We are closed now, and can you leave. We took our tea with us. Should have come and said we will be closing in 15 minutes. Can everyone be aware and drink up. Even pubs give you 10 minutes drinking up time

We had breakfast with Santa here in Dec 2023. What an experience and amazing value for money. Thank you for making our Christmas celebrations special! Christmas bingo, cookie decorating, yummy breakfast with any drink. Plus elf, Rudolph and Santa (who spent time at each table talking to the children) Highly recommend to anyone and will be here next year!

We used to love this little cafe, it serves good coffees and used to offer decent food. However the last couple of visits were a disappointment. We stopped here for lunch and ordered baguettes and coffees. The baguettes were absolutely inedible - the bread was so stale, it tasted like it sat there for days. I don't understand how you can sell that for £6+ a pop with a straight face. Surely the staff should let customers know that it's not fresh. You would think it's hard to spoil a piece of bread with sandwich filler but they managed somehow. On the plus side, the location of the cafe is perfect and the staff are always smiley.

I just feel this place could do so much more. With the new car park I think there might be greater footfall in future and hopefully it's menu will expand. Right now fine for coffee and cake but not much else on offer except the lovely view and seperate inside area where dogs are welcome. Great for couples having a walk or a quick warm up drink after water sports but limited for families or if you're wanting a proper meal

Food was OK but our pulled pork was dry and lacking flavour. A busy restaurant and very busy staff. Downside was small dogs yapping and barking.

I love the romantic and tranquil setting of this place. We gathered here for my husband birthday with some friends and booked swan pedalos, which are conveniently located right next door. I usually order the BLT and it’s decent. It’s hard to find my kids a snack but an order of chips always works too. They aren’t much about eating, they just want to toss rocks into the lake, which you can monitor from the terrace. We can honestly sit here for hours on a nice day with good company.

Very popular at this summer time of year, loads of things to occupy kids nearby. Toilets available inside the food area and outside, very clean. Parking, £1-00 per hour or part of, was very spacious, paying is a quiz at first but as you go in your number plate is recorded and as you leave, have your credit card ready to tap. There are machines around the car park, but remember to pay when you leave. My trip was just a scout around for a short time after eating. everywhere appears to be available to wheelchair users and there are long paths around and about a very large pond, with pedalos and canoes for rent. I noticed before we entered the pay section an old Train station which looks like a nice place to visit, may try next time.

It's a very nice park, for families have a great day out with kids, a couple of playgrounds ,plenty green spots, for walking dogs, peaceful places !! About the lakeside kitchen and bar ,a really nice place but the service it's to slow, the staff are friendly but inexperienced. The food is like a pub food nothing especially ! But deserve a visit. Car park 3£ for 2 hours, 4.5£ for 3 hours.

I have now been here twice with my family (visiting from abroad). Both times the variety and amount of food always seems very limited. We came here for a light lunch and scones/tea but were told the Clotted cream was currently still frozen at 2pm...we were very disappointed having chosen to come here over another cafe. The baguettes only had one flavour available too. Having had a not so good experience twice, I will be reluctant to come here again especially with family. I think the restaurant needs to increase the food and service, at least during the holidays.

We hosted my Mum’s 60th party here. Louise was great - she listened to all of our requests and needs and I didn’t have to do anything on the day. I dropped the flowers and cakes off and they set up the room beautifully. Everyone enjoyed the BBQ and there was plenty of food! A great venue and setting with even lovelier staff. Thank you!

I checked the opening times on Google and it stated it was open until 5pm weekdays. I arrived at 3pm to have lunch with my family, to be told they had closed the kitchen. There were no signs notifying us of this. I asked if they could simply heat up a panini and they said no. We left very disappointed. I then had to pay for parking even though we had not been there very long

I have to say we were hugely disappointed. The service was incredibly slow. We ordered 4 mains. Waited too long. The food was ok but it’s a very very confused offering. Style over substance. It seems to be trying too hard to be premium in totally the wrong way. Get the basics right. What this place needs and its customers are big hearty plates of uncomplicated food. The forks were dirty. The table sticky. The floor a mess. The windows marked and dirty. It feels like the restaurant is trying to maximise profit at the expense of the basics. I have eaten in greasy spoons where I can get a big hearty home made pie, veggies and a drink and it’s been spotless. I’m sorry but the basic cleanliness in this Lakeside was utterly appalling.

Excellent food, lovely service and a stunning setting by the lake

Always delicious food, not cheap but fairly reasonable pricing, considering the quality. We come here fairly often and will continue to do so! Lots of parking and great place to grab lunch or a snack before a walk around the lakes. Would recommend.

Breakfast this morning was terrible. My husband got the wrong order and my poached eggs were like bullets - very hard! Last Saturday, breakfast was brilliant, correct order and eggs were perfect! Inconsistent. Well, we went again this morning - I decided just to have a coffee but my husband ordered a sausage and bacon sandwich BUT was given a sausage and egg sandwich. He couldn’t be bothered to complain for the second week running!

The food is on the expensive side and not to the best quality or standards. The doors to outside seating area were locked with no signs indicating no access and staff just watched people try open the doors without saying anything which I consider to be poor customer service

Updated with details as requested by the restaurant: The food is a bit disappointing, very basic and not really worth ordering items that sound fancy, we ordered rigatoni and we got penne pasta instead and the Birdy Burger was basically 2 chicken fingers like you'd find in any supermarket. Atmosphere is great, very family friendly, and staff is great. Is a good option when visiting Nene but wouldn't go out of the way just for the food.

March 2023: £6.50 for eggs on toast 🥲 it's so expensive here, but I live locally so it's the closest place for a nice walk and a bit to eat. December 2022: Visited again, there is a new menu that is much smaller than before. £4 for a tiny pot of chips... and the children's pasta was undercooked with very dry cheese - I think it had been sat around for a while.

It's a lovely place. Fantastic that there's an area to sit with dogs. But sandwiches were made on Wednesday. Said on packaging. To take off first thing Saturday morning. Considering it was afternoon and asked staff. Was told its fine. It just says that????

It's ok there's a room for dog owners to sit which is good, don't get the smell of wet dogs while you eat
