Service is very slow, there are a lot of staff but are not properly organised. Could be so much better. Nice views over lakes

It is very very expensive like everywhere that has a nice view. I had a smoothie £5 and a lemon drizzle cake £4.. I actually shared the cake to save money between us. A lovely setting on the lake though

Lovely place to eat if you want a bite by the river. Staff are friendly. Ordered pork belly which came very underdone/ no crisp (but edible so didn't complain) and the onion rings were almost white and also underdone. Partners pizza came out looking very nice.

Good food and service, great home made cakes too! Coffee and milkshakes are also great!

Beautiful surroundings 4x breakfast 4x hot drink £65 I thought was expensive but if food is great then not a problem sausages for us to herby fried eggs had to be cooked more as white was runny staff pleasant helpful friendly probably wouldn't go back for the price and quality

Such a lovely place that has amazing scenery but my god, the organisation is absolutely shambolic. Spending most of my day here just standing in a queue for food and drink! The atmosphere would be far more happy and vibrant, if you weren't surrounded by others who are in the same circumstance as me, stood here, wasting my time to get food, drink and ice cream. Management, get a grip of it and also open the bar! You'd drastically improve your queue issues if you did. So, I better resume my place in the queue... Number 50 in the queue to be exact.......

Nothing better than a cup off coffee N slice of lakesides finest cake sitting by the lake watching the world go by whatever the weather 10/10 in all respects. Keep it up will be back this year for another birthday.

Called in after a 10 mile charity walk. Had the house burger which was delicious, it tasted like steak! Highly recommended

Lovely place to go food is good. The only thing I would say is that one lady came while we're eating and drinking tea. We are closed now, and can you leave. We took our tea with us. Should have come and said we will be closing in 15 minutes. Can everyone be aware and drink up. Even pubs give you 10 minutes drinking up time

We had breakfast with Santa here in Dec 2023. What an experience and amazing value for money. Thank you for making our Christmas celebrations special! Christmas bingo, cookie decorating, yummy breakfast with any drink. Plus elf, Rudolph and Santa (who spent time at each table talking to the children) Highly recommend to anyone and will be here next year!

We used to love this little cafe, it serves good coffees and used to offer decent food. However the last couple of visits were a disappointment. We stopped here for lunch and ordered baguettes and coffees. The baguettes were absolutely inedible - the bread was so stale, it tasted like it sat there for days. I don't understand how you can sell that for £6+ a pop with a straight face. Surely the staff should let customers know that it's not fresh. You would think it's hard to spoil a piece of bread with sandwich filler but they managed somehow. On the plus side, the location of the cafe is perfect and the staff are always smiley.

I just feel this place could do so much more. With the new car park I think there might be greater footfall in future and hopefully it's menu will expand. Right now fine for coffee and cake but not much else on offer except the lovely view and seperate inside area where dogs are welcome. Great for couples having a walk or a quick warm up drink after water sports but limited for families or if you're wanting a proper meal

Bit cold in the doggy area, but great food, pizza was huge! Quick, friendly service

Food was OK but our pulled pork was dry and lacking flavour. A busy restaurant and very busy staff. Downside was small dogs yapping and barking.

I love the romantic and tranquil setting of this place. We gathered here for my husband birthday with some friends and booked swan pedalos, which are conveniently located right next door. I usually order the BLT and it’s decent. It’s hard to find my kids a snack but an order of chips always works too. They aren’t much about eating, they just want to toss rocks into the lake, which you can monitor from the terrace. We can honestly sit here for hours on a nice day with good company.

Lovely food, just got Thai fish cake and Salt and pepper squid. Both really lovely! Plenty of space and high chairs. Lovely view!

Very popular at this summer time of year, loads of things to occupy kids nearby. Toilets available inside the food area and outside, very clean. Parking, £1-00 per hour or part of, was very spacious, paying is a quiz at first but as you go in your number plate is recorded and as you leave, have your credit card ready to tap. There are machines around the car park, but remember to pay when you leave. My trip was just a scout around for a short time after eating. everywhere appears to be available to wheelchair users and there are long paths around and about a very large pond, with pedalos and canoes for rent. I noticed before we entered the pay section an old Train station which looks like a nice place to visit, may try next time.

It's a very nice park, for families have a great day out with kids, a couple of playgrounds ,plenty green spots, for walking dogs, peaceful places !! About the lakeside kitchen and bar ,a really nice place but the service it's to slow, the staff are friendly but inexperienced. The food is like a pub food nothing especially ! But deserve a visit. Car park 3£ for 2 hours, 4.5£ for 3 hours.

We hosted my Mum’s 60th party here. Louise was great - she listened to all of our requests and needs and I didn’t have to do anything on the day. I dropped the flowers and cakes off and they set up the room beautifully. Everyone enjoyed the BBQ and there was plenty of food! A great venue and setting with even lovelier staff. Thank you!

I have now been here twice with my family (visiting from abroad). Both times the variety and amount of food always seems very limited. We came here for a light lunch and scones/tea but were told the Clotted cream was currently still frozen at 2pm...we were very disappointed having chosen to come here over another cafe. The baguettes only had one flavour available too. Having had a not so good experience twice, I will be reluctant to come here again especially with family. I think the restaurant needs to increase the food and service, at least during the holidays.

I checked the opening times on Google and it stated it was open until 5pm weekdays. I arrived at 3pm to have lunch with my family, to be told they had closed the kitchen. There were no signs notifying us of this. I asked if they could simply heat up a panini and they said no. We left very disappointed. I then had to pay for parking even though we had not been there very long

I have to say we were hugely disappointed. The service was incredibly slow. We ordered 4 mains. Waited too long. The food was ok but it’s a very very confused offering. Style over substance. It seems to be trying too hard to be premium in totally the wrong way. Get the basics right. What this place needs and its customers are big hearty plates of uncomplicated food. The forks were dirty. The table sticky. The floor a mess. The windows marked and dirty. It feels like the restaurant is trying to maximise profit at the expense of the basics. I have eaten in greasy spoons where I can get a big hearty home made pie, veggies and a drink and it’s been spotless. I’m sorry but the basic cleanliness in this Lakeside was utterly appalling.

Excellent food, lovely service and a stunning setting by the lake

Always delicious food, not cheap but fairly reasonable pricing, considering the quality. We come here fairly often and will continue to do so! Lots of parking and great place to grab lunch or a snack before a walk around the lakes. Would recommend.

Breakfast this morning was terrible. My husband got the wrong order and my poached eggs were like bullets - very hard! Last Saturday, breakfast was brilliant, correct order and eggs were perfect! Inconsistent. Well, we went again this morning - I decided just to have a coffee but my husband ordered a sausage and bacon sandwich BUT was given a sausage and egg sandwich. He couldn’t be bothered to complain for the second week running!

The food is on the expensive side and not to the best quality or standards. The doors to outside seating area were locked with no signs indicating no access and staff just watched people try open the doors without saying anything which I consider to be poor customer service

Updated with details as requested by the restaurant: The food is a bit disappointing, very basic and not really worth ordering items that sound fancy, we ordered rigatoni and we got penne pasta instead and the Birdy Burger was basically 2 chicken fingers like you'd find in any supermarket. Atmosphere is great, very family friendly, and staff is great. Is a good option when visiting Nene but wouldn't go out of the way just for the food.

March 2023: £6.50 for eggs on toast 🥲 it's so expensive here, but I live locally so it's the closest place for a nice walk and a bit to eat. December 2022: Visited again, there is a new menu that is much smaller than before. £4 for a tiny pot of chips... and the children's pasta was undercooked with very dry cheese - I think it had been sat around for a while.

It's a lovely place. Fantastic that there's an area to sit with dogs. But sandwiches were made on Wednesday. Said on packaging. To take off first thing Saturday morning. Considering it was afternoon and asked staff. Was told its fine. It just says that????

Huge thanks to Lakeside Kitchen & Bar for allowing our family to have our Uncle’s wake there today. From start to finish it has been an easy process to arrange with the help of Louise, the function manager. The buffet food we had was superb. Plenty off it and all our guests said how fresh and tasty it all was. Thank you to all the staff involved, especially Kayleigh. From Lynn & Suzanne

It's ok there's a room for dog owners to sit which is good, don't get the smell of wet dogs while you eat

Visited quite late for a late lunch/early dinner in the day, so it was pretty quiet, but it was good food (not cheap, but done nicely; it only just made it into the next cost bracket per person).

We had country vegetable soup with was lovely... and we also ordered a cheese and ham toastie , which is very over priced at £8.50 for what we got,two slices of bread cheese and ham, surely don't justify 8.50 we thought it came with chips turns out they was a bag of crisps put into a container complete rip off.

They took on my mums birthday afternoon tea on late notice , excellent food and great service with a beautiful view ! All was happy

Sat in the enclosed covered area where dogs are welcomed. It was a very windy, cold day and the wood burner hadn't been lit, instead a very small fan heater was on which didn't warm us up, that was a shame. A Nice lunch though, of brie and bacon panin, with chips and coleslaw. Staff were helpful holding open doors for the wheelchair. Very good wheelchair access! ♿

Sat at table waiting for breakfast for half an hour, watching other people who came in after get theirs. Turns out they hadn't even got our order. When it finally did come, after 40 minutes, it was OK. Was offered a free drink, but instead, opted for a discount on the drinks we had already had. Fried egg was a little underdone for my liking, with some uncooked white near the yolk, maybe because they were in a hurry to get it out to me.

Very nice venue overlooking a lake set in the the country park of Nene Park. Have visited this place many times and has good facilities, clean, attractive building. Food menu is good, but a bit pricey which is normal nowadays. The veranda over looking the sailing lake is very relaxing. Recommended!

Nice place for Sunday breakfast 🍳

Went on a Sunday when it is very busy. 30 minutes wait for a bottle of water. Staff were very busy but lacking in any oomph.

I would just like to thank one of the staff at the lakeside cafe for been honest and trust worthy for finding my phone at the payment parking metre after I had done a good deed to a young lady giving her my last pound coins and change as the machine wouldn't accept her 2pound coins. As I was looking for change I put my phone on top of the meter machine. Then left Ferry meadows leaving my phone behind not know I had left it and drove to 2020 buffet in the Peterborough when we arrived i realised i dint have my phone and had to drive back to Ferry Meadows. The cafe was closed but found the staff room and inquired if anyone had handed my phone in? They said yes a member of staff found it and handed it in. In this day and age there are still decent truely honest people out there so thank you lakeside cafe your staff are truely what makes a great place worthwhile revisiting.👏😊📲

Good range of outdoor seating. Indoors clean. Tomato sauce dispenser very posh- but splurged all over me and the next customer. Vegetarian breakfast came without the beans and no apology or substitution. Filter coffee is pleasant.

The food is ok, but they won't serve you until 11:30 so no good if you want an early breakfast or something to eat for lunch before going for a bikeride. Ordered toasties and they weren't toasted enough for the cheese to melt so my son didn't really eat much. After waiting for them for a while I didn't want to wait any longer to ask them to cook them properly as we had hired bikes and didn't want to waste any time. The outside area is handy for people with dogs or bikes but it was swarming with wasps, which is noones fault but didn't make sitting outside very nice.

Asked for GF bread with scrambled eggs breakfast. Didn't happen as celiac MIL swiftly spent the rest of the day in bed with a bad stomach.

Another decent coffee and carrot cake. Served by a friendly, polite young man! Always such a pleasure to stop off for refreshments ! High prices but great service and location

The place and surroundings are excellent with the Lakeside view and atmosphere is uplifting. Food is OK but the chicken burger is dry and limited choice in menu. Would love to return for a breakfast.

A massive thank you to Louise and all the staff here at Lakeside. We held a Celebration of Life of my Mum . Everyone said it was a beautiful venue and that the buffet was wonderful . I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone . Thank you for helping to make a difficult day easier . Sarah Greenway
