A cheerful welcome in the cafe at the till by a very friendly lady. I decided to give the breakfast another chance having been disappointed the last time I went. Things had not improved. I was the first person to order at 9am and my full English breakfast came to me very quickly 6 or 7 minutes later. Quick but too quick as everything but the fried egg was at best lukewarm. The bacon was leathery and it seemed that the ingredients were just warmed up from the day before. Too quick a service to be served freshly cooked especially first of the morning and, if it was re heated it needed a lot longer in the microwave. This was the same experience as I had last time unfortunately. I feel there is not enough care given to the food or customer satisfaction.

I enjoy coming to Lady Green the food is normally nice, as is the coffee. But the staff can make it almost unbearable. Apart from being so incredibly slow, it's not the first time I have heard them discussing other staff members and not in the nicest way. This seems to be more important than serving people at times too.

Very disappointed in the breakfast, Food wasnt even warm, bacon and black pudding hard, sausages dry, egg cold, but nice toast. I think the bacon, black pudding and sausage had been cooked early and that’s why they had dried out. One of the group had eggs Benedict, the eggs were cold. Would not go for breakfast again.

Visited Friday 22/12/23 for a pre booked Christmas Lunch….have to say it was FABULOUS. ..from walking in, being escorted to our reserved table by the lovely Denise, being waited on by the attentive Steve, you didn’t fail at anything! All the staff were so generous and friendly, all table service. 10/10 to the chefs in the kitchen for the quality and presentation of the food, excellent. Thank you all, Kath & Barry

The restaurant is the worst . It’s called Strikes …..The garden centre is fine. We used to go there and have the big sausage rolls, and a coffee, and it was nice if a bit expensive. Lately, the sausage rolls have halved in size and the price has increased greatly. If you want a vegetarian pastie , that will cost you £9. That’s nine pounds !!! A piece of quiche, £11……yes eleven pounds. The cakes are all open to the air, and are dry as a bone. They are nothing special, just basic cake, but still twice the price of anywhere else. Even the coffees are smaller than normal. The large coffees here, are what anywhere else would call small. Basically a rip off, and to say it’s because the cost of living is increasing would be just taking the p… A small bottle of Diet Coke ….£2.60 That’s a small glass full. They cater for the Porsche club here, as it’s on the main route from Southport and Formby…so the customers are quite well off. It’s Ince Blundell……not bloody Knightsbridge. What a greedy company

I have been using lady green for a number of years now, taking service users for lunch. Over the last few weeks I have noticed a massive improvement in the quality of food. Usually, the food can be hit and miss but over the last 2/3 weeks I have gone several times and been satisfied each time.

This cafe has long been one of my favourite places to eat as the food is great, the staff are lovely, the prices are reasonable and the setting within the garden centre is really nice. However, I was disappointed yesterday when I asked if I could have the gammon, egg and chips from the main menu but without the gammon as I don't eat meat. The server asked the chef who replied that he could do that for me (like he was doing me a big favour) but that I'd still have to pay full price. Given that I'd have to be an idiot to pay almost thirteen quid for two fried eggs and a portion of chips, I politely declined. I reckon double eggs and chips would be a very popular addition to the menu and ask that the management be a bit more flexible. BTW, I ended up with a cheese and caramelised onion toasty. Unfortunately it was cold. I should really have taken it back but chose not to make a fuss.

I visited the Topiary Restaurant at Lady Green Garden Centre last week for lunch. I hadn't visited this place for years but having heard some glowing reviews from family, I decided to give it another try. Although we arrived around 12pm, the restaurant was far from full so we weren't fighting over tables. We were served quickly at the counter by two members of staff, who between them were working very efficiently. I ordered the tuna sandwich on brown which was absolutely delicious. The cost of this was around £6.75, which admittedly sounds expensive. However, the quality of the food meant that this was good value for money and I really enjoyed my lunch. The sandwich was also served with fresh side salad. We also ordered some chips which came beautifully presented in a mini deep fryer (want for a better word!). This place also served hot food, as well as toasted sandwiches, so there's enough choice for everyone. The hot drinks were also very good. I was also pleased with the general presentation of this café. It looks to have been recently refurbished as the place appeared modern and sleek. There is plenty of seating so there was no shortage of available tables, even when the place got busier towards 1pm. The whole restaurant, including the toilets, was also nice and clean. The only downside is that we sat at a booth table, which was located close to an air conditioner, meant that it was a little cold sat there. Having said that, air conditioning is a Godsend when it gets hot! Overall, there is very little to complain about with this café. Although the menu, at first glance, admittedly appears simplistic, this place delivers on its excellent execution of what it does serve. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and I would definitely recommend and return myself!

Roast beef baguette with caramelised onions? Sounds nice except beef was last week's dry and chunky, onions do not come in a jar? They should be cooked in a pan..terrible never again, wife had chicken tikka jacket potato that was dry and chicken hard sauce again from a jar? Time they got a chef that can cook and make an easy sauce..and fry onions?

We tried the '2 meals for £15' Thursday evening offer. It runs from 5:30 to 7 :00 and we ordered at around 6:15. I chose the trio of farmhouse sausages. What was served, without comment, was two vegetarian sausages. When I mentioned the disparity between what was on the menu and what was on my plate I was told that as they had run out of sausages I had to have the veggie version. Presumably they only had two of them left. 2 veggie sausages, a dollop of creamed spuds and a splodge of glutinous gravy. Add in small bottles of pop for over £3 and I began to wonder whether I was on candid camera. Awful.

It’s been a very long time since I have been and I thought it was really good. We were meeting friends in cafe which was absolutely lovely with fresh cakes and lunches available. Really comfy seating areas in this large cafe which we stayed in for ages, getting several top ups of drinks. Can’t really comment on quality of plants as I got little chance to look. I booked a table in advance for my friend and I. Booking stated to arrive 5 minutes early which we did. We were the only people waiting but were left standing there for the 5 minutes and just ignored. When a lady finally came over to book us in she wandered off looking for a pen! Finally we sat down and placed our order, which has to be paid for in advance. I asked if we could just order food and order a coffee after the meal but was told this was not possible, we had to order everything in advance. So we paid and then waited, and waited, and waited. No staff came near us and it took ages to actually get somebody's attention to query where our order was. 10 minutes later (we had been there an hour at this point) a lady asked what our drinks order was. Then we had a further wait for our food. It turns out that our order had gone astray but no apologies were made. If we hadn't already paid we would have just walked out. The food is well overpriced and I didn't enjoy mine, maybe due to the stress of getting it. We were offered cake to compensate, which we didn't really want, and persuaded the lady to give us a cold drink to take away instead. Will definitely not go back there again, as a friend and I had a bad experience there previously in September, but I thought I would give them a second chance. Regretted this since.

Since it has been done up the cafe food is bland and way to expensive. Been going for more than 20 years and the food was always great not sure what has happened. The management obviously don’t care about these comments because there are as many negative as positive reviews. Things like queuing simply for a drink have not been addressed. Sadly won’t be eating there anymore. Very disappointed at the management being so apathetic to their customers

My partner and I enjoy a trip out to garden centres and often visit their cafes while there. We have visited here a couple of times over the past year and have commented each time that we feel unwelcome. Staff seem to only ask ‘young’ customers to grab baskets, have explained to use twice during the pandemic why we need one, which we understand but he made a specific point of telling us not to leave it anywhere both times. These comments were not made to other visitors. Visits the the cafe, upon arrival we have waited where asked to be seated. Two members of staff completely ignore our presence and continue their conversation. Eventually, when one left the service area I asked another if we were in the correct place as we had been stood there quite a while, she said yes and to stay there because she didn’t know what to do with new customers arriving. Another lady came as we turned to leave and asked us to take a seat, which we this point we had already had enough and turned to walk away. Loud and clear, she calls over “right fair enough.” I wrote this review as I feel this is the kind of treatment we have received on various occasions and will no longer return to the garden centre.

Lovely little garden centre to wander around - but the cafe is a bit of a shambles. There is no discernible menu - just randomly placed chalk boards with the odd hint of what might be available. The customer is left to fathom out that you have to go and choose a table, leave your belongings, then join the long, slow queue (after peering through said queue to try and work out what food actually is on offer). Service is definitely without a smile. Food is disappointing when it finally arrives. On the plus side - there are plenty of tables, and the food is home made - but it is all pretty soul-less. The garden centre is worth a visit, but go elsewhere for your lunch !

Working in the catering service myself I am very forgiving of less than perfect service as I know how tiring and often thankless customer service can be, but the staff I came across here were shocking. They seemed more concerned about cleaning down the coffee machine than serving the customers in front of them and were very rude when taking payment. I opted for three of the mini cakes with a cup of tea, (the cakes were self service). I had to remind the lady taking payment that she hadn’t yet given me my tea, and when I did receive it, the (small) teapot was half full. To top it off, two of the three cakes I had were stale. I didn’t feel there was any point in mentioning this to the staff as I doubt they would have cared.

I thought it looked a little odd when it came out dark brown but it tasted terrible. I thought I had been given the wrong soup and asked one of the staff to check. I was told it was leek and potato as the mushroom was grey! The soup tasted as if the ingredients had been burned and covered up with some sort of stock cube and pepper.I don't really like complaining especially on a packed bank holiday weekend so I thought an honest review would be better. A large cafe area with very pleasant decor. Food is well presented and tasty, though quite expensive. This garden centre is moving further away from selling plants and becoming more a gift, furniture and crafts supermarket with cafe.

We consider that Lady Green. Is one of the most relaxing of the local garden centres. With many architectural features, a small lake and meandering pathways through the various displays, this makes for a delightful visit.

My favourite garden centre. Nice place to visit and cafe very comfortable and attractive. Staff some friendly some not so. Food we had was very good two breakfast brunch baguettes and a sweet chilli wrap. All came with salad and coleslaw. Relish with baguettes. I have a pet hate eating off what looks like a roofing slate. Just me I suppose but why can't restaurants stop trying to be trendy and put the food on a blinking plate! I noticed that some of the food was on little bread boards. So nice food but give it a miss and just have cake on a plate next time. End on a high note the plants I bought were great. Two planted spring tubs for £20.

what we experience was the staff attitude towards customers. it was diabolicle not smiling looking as though they did not want to be there.some of the food was uneatable and i was charged for two soups instead of one. i think that they should have a good look at the whole staff system. hope this review will do something about it.

We went there earlier today with my Nan for an early Mother's Day treat. Coffees and teas were very nice but the food and cakes was quite overpriced for a small quantity.

Very large spacious cafe in a garden centre which also sells a wide range of gifts and craft goods so has something for everyone. We opted for the soup and sandwich option and both were excellent, tasty soup and a substantial sandwich made with their home cooked ham.

Currently serving a festive Afternoon tea which my friend and I sampled today. Nicely presented, it consisted of 4 triangle sandwiches in 2 flavours, a mince pie, a small scone with jam and cream, a star shaped biscuit and a very small vanilla cupcake. Served with tea or coffee. It was not the best afternoon tea I've ever had. The star biscuit was a little stale and tasteless. The mini cupcake had a blob of cream on top of an otherwise plain cake. This would have been better with lemon icing or similar. It was all a bit "samey". Think you could do better!

Haven't been to Ladygreen for some time but arranged to meet a friend for lunch. I was amazed how large the cafe now is and so clean and tidy. The food displayed is also very good. I had soup and a roll which was served extremely quickly and later I had a cream scone(which was enormous)very delicious. Overall I was very pleased with the ambience and the service I received.

We have been to the Topiary Restaurant at the Lady Green garden Centre on a number of occasions and have always been very satisfied with the food and the service. However, we went on the August Bank Holiday Monday and were extremely disappointed. The staff were obviously ill-prepared to cope with the expected rush. We were told, reasonably enough, as we were in the queue at the counter, that there would be a half-hour wait for the food to be served. However, after we had sat down, we noticed that one of the counter staff seemed to be employed as a troubleshooter, moving from table to trying to resolve the countless problems which had arisen. She came to our table and told one of our party that the mushroom soup she had ordered had run out, and would she like to select an alternative. The only acceptable vegetarian option was the cheese toastie, which was more expensive. She was made to pay the difference. This strikes me as extremely bad form. If you are told, after waiting nearly half an hour, that the meal you ordered was unavailable, the least they could have done was to offer an alternative for the same price.

Since first visiting Lady Green many, many years ago, it has always held a special place in my heart - by far my favourite garden centre. However, in recent times, I have returned less and less, as it has simply lost its 'olde worlde' charm. The original family-run business provided a unique venue in which to wander around, taking in the delights of the shop and gardens themselves as well as providing a warm and welcoming place to stop for a bite to eat. Now it feels exactly what it is - part of a large chain.

Haven't been for years but decided to go with my friend for cake and a cuppa. The shop that you walk through before reaching the cafe is gorgeous. Lovely things to browse - could spend a fortune! Very impressed with the cafe though. It's changed so much. It's spacious and very clean and modern. Loads of seating indoors and outside. Staff very polite and friendly. We decided on carrot cake and victoria sponge and 2 teas. Nice that it was in individual pots. Delicious cakes and very good prices. Total came to less than £10. Went for a wander round the garden centre. It's so pretty and loads of plants and pots to buy. In the end we spent around 2 very enjoyable hours here. Will be back!

Since the restaurant has been revamped its lovely and more seating. But could it be that it just seems like there are more seats because it's not as busy?? The food is more fussy and over complicated I mean what ever happened to the usual tuna toastie. They also don't have means of warming children's bottles or food. The staff always seem to pull a face when I have asked for water to heat a jar. The response is that they can't give me boiling water.... Well isn't that exactly what they give me for my tea only it's got a bag in It?? Stupid policy. But they can heat it up behind the counter but they never cover it and it never gets very warm. If you have kids go to Dobbies where they provide bowls plates spoons crayons paper and on top of all that a microwave.... dunno why lady green couldn't provide something similar not like they don't have the room now.

We have been coming to this garden centre and restaurant for years, Unfortunately, since the restaurant has been refurbished, the standard of food has gone down and prices up.. We always used to visit for afternoon cream tier, which used to come on a three tiered plate stand, with Victoria sponge, a selection of triangular sandwiches, and cream scone. It was always enough for two people to share. Now the price has gone up, the scone is tiny, the cake selection is no better than buying Mr Kiplings cakes from the supermarket and the sandwiches are chopped not cut in triangles and are hard as rock. The three tier plate stand is replacd by a slate and by the time the food arrives, the tea that comes with it has gone cold. Very disappointing.

Always like coming to the garden centre and the restuarant/cafe is very popular and one that I have visited over the years. It has been taken over in last few years and has been expanded. We had a very nice sandwich, soft drink and small cake, which was very nicely presented. My only gripe is that the prices are quite high and my husband and I could have had a main meal and drink elsewhere much cheaper. Still it is a popular place and if you are looking for plants or a gift then I am sure you will find what you are looking for.

I always came here each weekend for our afternoon tea before they changed it totally and now its far too bust with standing and waiting for a good 20 mins before you get served. I think they have kept the staff the same and havent employed anymore and they are pushing too many people in but not enough staff. I much prefered the older way tehre wasnt half the wait for your tea or food that there is now. Everything seems far over priced that it use to be too so i wont be returning as often to the cafe part and the staff just look so stressed rushing around after customers.

We Decided to stop for Lunch at Lady Green it is some time since we had been in the area and thought it would be a pleasant stop, it has been in the past. But not now, the food was over priced poorly cooked and of mediocre quality, we ate without enjoyment and drank just warm tea then left. On arriving home and checking receipts for the day we discovered we had been over charged, 3 teas had been added to our bill instead of the 2 we had on the tray. A phone call to the assistant manager was a waste of time, he didn't seem to have any authority to deal with the situation and suggested I call the manager. The manager was defensive to the point of rudness and too stressed because "it is mothers day tomorrow" to even listen. Two emails to customer care have so far been ignored, my bank has advised Trading Standards, I just think what a poor un-professional team they have at Lady Green, they do not represent the catering and hospitality trade in any good way.

My youngest Sister had organised a Mother's Day afternoon tea for my lovely Mum at the Lady Green garden centre. We had booked in advance so didn't expect any issues on the day. We arrived on time to a table which wasn't yet prepared. Once seated, we were assured our afternoon tea would be out very soon. We were given pots of tea soon after arrival, however we waited and waited for our food. The staff assured us it was being prepared and would be out soon. We decided to leave after waiting an hour and ten minutes. After speaking to the manager, all she could say was 'we are very busy today'. No apologies made. The service was totally unacceptable and unprofessional. Especially as customers served at the till were served afternoon tea immediately after ordering. Completely ruined my Mother's Day. We certainly will not be returning.

Ordered Breakfast via Just Eat, 1.5hrs after ordering the food hadn't t turned up, I called them and was told by a man the food was leaving the café just then and should be with me in a few mins he they apologized as they had been really busy. 2hrs after I ordered the food I attended the Café to collect the food to be met by the most arrogant and rude staff (all apart from 1 lovely lady, who did try to help me). No food had even been made and when I advised I had come to collect a Just Eat order which I had order 2hrs ago I was told "and what" I explained that I had called and spoke to a man who advised it was leaving but it still hadn't turned up. The young lad who I was speaking with just shrugged his shoulders. I asked for a refund and was told by the young lad he cannot authorize a refund so I ask to speak to someone who could as there still was no food for me to collect. He said he would get the boss. The 'Boss Lady' appeared and asked me "what do you want" I explained again what had happened the 'Boss Lady' advised "We have been busy we are a Café what do you expect"? A lovely lady who was also present was looking to see if the food had been made and was bagged up on the side to no avail. I once again advised the 'Boss Lady' that I had ordered and paid for food 2hrs earlier in good faith, I had called and was advised that the food was on its way and I understood they had been busy so I called down to collect myself, that I was quite ill and that's the whole reason why I had ordered via Just eat in the 1st place for a delivery and I didn't really want to come out the house but I thought I'd run down to the café to collect as it still hadn't arrived but the food still hadn't even been made so could I have a refund. The 'Boss lady' told me they don't give refunds. you have to go through to Just eat. I turned to walk out of the Café when the 'Boss lady' then asked me stupidly if I no longer wanted the food??? I turned to her and said you haven't even made it, ill do what you say Ill go through Just Eat for a refund but I will also leave a review turned and opened the door to leave. The young lad shouted something quite derogatory to me so I turned and said don't treat me feel like a horrible person! Once outside I get in my car and look up to see the 'Boss Lady' running out of the Café like a lunatic screaming and running at me "not to slam the Café door" she was obviously wanting a fight, I am no fool or will I be intimidated so I got out of my car to speak with her. The lovely lady from the café had to drag her back into the café. Obviously her Café door means a lot to her! (In all honesty I don't even remember closing the door). I was very shook up and really not very well plus my son was in the car witnessing this I thought I would just go home and contact Just Eat. 3hrs after this incident some random man turned up at my door screaming and shouting at me to not slam his Café door again and never come to his Café again! As if I would ever go there and give them my money after what had happened anyway is laughable. This man ranted and raved at me and my 2 teenage sons threatening to come and smash my windows in and my 2 sons faces in. I got it all on my Ring door bell and contacted the Police. Not only did this woman try to attack me outside the Café for allegedly "slamming the Café door" but then got her, I'm assuming partner to attend my home 3hrs later to threaten me... Is this something normal business'/people do now a days? This was reported to the police as they clearly have broken GDPR rules as well as their threatening behavior but also Just Eat and the ICO. Never again will I ever order through Just Eat or with this Café! I also stress to everyone else, don't let them have your home address as you never know when they will turn up on your door step. Don't ask for a refund when you have paid them for food that they don't deliver or even make.... Most importantly DO NOT SLAM THIER CAFE DOOR!
