La Valente in Fife

Was once our go to for a chippy but portion sizes have gotten smaller and smaller. More chips in a happy meal from McDonalds.

Always late and food is cold. Given this place many chances. No more. 1 person tells you the food's on its way. The other tells you its almost leaving. Then the owner (i assume) told me a family memeber was ill? I see by the reviews this excuse has been used before. Disgusting

Ordered a smoke sausage in batter it was only half covered in batter when I phoned and spoke to cook that made it I was told the batter must of fell of clearly does not know how to cook will never order from there again what a joke should be closed down

They always forget your juice or pickled onions and the fish suppers have went down hill. Lost a customer

Absolutely scammers, you wait 2 and a half hour for a pizza to come, when it comes it’s 10 inch’s instead of the 12 I ordered and it’s freezing cold DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE

I order food from hear tonight I paid £31 food was cold waited hour and half it was out with driver for 30 minutes so cold called them back was told it’s been so busy wrap food back up get your money back or fresh food sent out I would not feed to to my pet

2 hours for a delivery arrived cold told twice it had left shop and still took a further hour to come

This used to be our fave chippy, not sure what’s happened, portions are getting smaller and the quality just isn’t there, ordered three suppers tonight, one for me and two for the kids, had to repeat order quite a few times whilst I was there, which is fine however I got salt and vinegar on two suppers and salt and sauce on the third, she appeared quite heavy handed with the salt and upon getting home food is inedible, i like salty food but this was too much for me, 3 suppers barely eaten! Don’t think we will be back sadly.

Used to go here for my chippy treat, until I found an insect or grub in my chips that had come from the tray, as the bug wasnt cooked.

Best fish supper I've had in years , great portions , great staff , I would highly recommend Valente's.

Awful chicken tikka kebab ,rotten salad and a handful of tiny chicken pieces 2 drop of relish on !got weird vibes off the owner as if he was doing me a favour !my small pizza was OK but not much topping on ,the dog eat his donner meat tho ,cost of it was high quality low

We bought two Haddock Fish suppers from this place on the 8th May. I can honestly say they were the worst fish suppers we have ever tasted. The fish had a grey tinge, the batter was hard and dry, the chips were very soggy and the brown sauce was so thin it was tasteless and transparent. I suspect the fish had been re-heated countless times. Such a shame for Kirkcaldy that a place like this is on the High Street and not hidden down a back alley.

Had a variety of food off the men over the few days we stayed at Kirkcaldy couldn't fault it.

Worst chip shop in Kirkcaldy! All food went straight in the bin! Fritters that soggy they were bending over when picked up. Curry sauce like jelly no taste to it whatsoever & definitely no sauce to dip anyway. Kebab meat half hard! Aw & the two hour wait to then phone up & be told another 20mins. Absolute joke of a service if that’s what you can call it! Only gave one star as had to option not too!

Food was OK, counter staff were good, the two idiots cooking were a joke, rude to the counter staff and absolutely no organisation even tho the counter staff were telling the what they needed, only to be belittled, just eat orders coming through and counter staff asking where it is and being told I'm just starting it, and the back staff actually losing and order, feel sorry for the counter staff, was also mildly pricey for what I ordered

First time trying and it will be the last. £26 and the food is rotten. The chips was absolutely vile, tasted really funny and full of grease. Pizza was burnt underneath, the fish was more batter than actual fish and the cheese burgers was basically a sloppy soggy mess🤷‍♀️. And over an hour wait time on a Wednesday night is abit extreme. For a first time customer it was a big disappointment. But definitely won’t use again nor would I recommend. For the price of your food. DO BETTER 👌

LA Valente is normally our go to for chippy or takeaway. The meat feast pizza I had I asked for jalapenos on it to. But I didn't expect to have that many jalapenos I can't taste the meat on there. Very disappointed about that. My fiancée's chip steak supper seemed delicious the speed it was eaten. I think next time I will be sticking with my fish supper as I have NEVER been disappointed with that. Fish is amazing!

Third time trying LA Valente and it is the last time! First experience was great, second was pretty good. Third one a disaster. 10" Margherita came way overcooked and rock solid. Ordered 2 half fried pizza's, they came black and rock solid (see photo's) and we ordered 2 large portions of chips but what came was something less than a small portion in a large box! Extremely disappointed and frustrated because I also ordered a Donee kebab and it was delicious! Honestly baffled how anyone could and would let food of such sub bar quality leave their business! Rang the shop for a refund, minus the kebab which was good, They said they wouldn't refund the delivery fee! Has to speak with the owner on the phone for some time, who went on about about his loss, as the customer that's not my problem and since 90% of our order was delivered unfit for consumption it's disgusting that they think they can keep the delivered on the basis that they have to pay the driver twice! AVOID AVOID AVOID LA Valente !

Didn't have to wait long fir take out, but I only asked for a Fish Supper & got a Hairy Fish Supper instead, no extra charge for the thick black hair that was there. Total Boak! Won't be back.

I have had lot food from here it has been really good. Other night it was disappointing i don't know what has happend the white pudding was well over cooked hard to get knife through it. The chips were not nice. I think it depends who is cooking maby .

My family just had the worst food ever! This was NOT a delivery so no excuse. They walked in and ordered and it was made there and then. Smoked sausage supper was stone cold inside. The batter on the fish was hot but the fish was cold inside, even the chips were awful, had to throw the lot in the bin and both feel sick now! Just as well I wasn't with them or the lot would be handed back for a full refund!! Avoid at all costs. Only tried it as our usual one was so busy but obviously a reason for that! Never again.

Special fish at £8.00 was a bit steep, especially when it was slightly over cooked. The portion of chips was also a bit mean considering the price.

We've just had probably the best fish supper I have ever had from La Valentes, High St, Kirkcaldy. Beautifully crisp batter, succulent fish and some great chips with a bit of salt and vinegar. Fast, efficient and very polite walk in service... I can't recommend these guys highly enough! Superb!!!

Fish suppers out of here are mostly really good. Very reasonably priced and you get 2 pieces. However, their consistency isn't their strong point. 4 times out of 5 the fish is crispy and perfectly done. But the odd time it's soggy and the batter is sloppy and the fish is not flaky and clumpy. Overall mostly a good experience and worth the 4 stars in my opinion. 👍

An hour late. Took almost 2 hours total. The restaurant is 5 minutes away from my house and my order was very simple. Fish supper and onion rings. Contacted them through the just eat app and received unhelpful automated responses about when it would arrive and compensation. Phoned after they had missed their second delivery time stated and they were quite frankly rude and unhelpful there also. Food arrived finally and it wasn't good. Soggy chips, bland onion rings, bland and mushy fish. Won't be ordering from here again. Massively disappointed with the restaurant and just eat for not holding them accountable when they are clearly in the wrong. TL;DR: If you order from here expect to waste time waiting on this mediocre (at best) food. You'll probably regret even considering this restaurant as a choice for your quick fix dinner.

That's the third time we ordered online for home delivery. It's never arrived on time. 35 minutes last time and 40 minutes delay today... and I'm still waiting 😱. The food is good but they should respect their clients time saying that delivery time is almost 2 hours.

I have sometimes ordered here for home delivery. My latest meal was bought in the shop. The chipsteak meal I had was ok. The chipsteak itself was a bit greasy. The price was ok..at one point I was going to order a single fish as well.. until I saw the price and decided not to. I spend a lot of time abroad and may not be fully up to speed on the price of food at local takeaways!. I have had better suppers from other fish and chip shops in Kirkcaldy..

Keeping a brand name like La Valente even in high street doesnt reassure the quality of a chippy.Will visit again, but not at its best for sure

I don't know what's not to like? They do fish and chips. They do munchie boxes and pizza. I've never strayed from the fish and chips which are perfectly fine if not outstanding. It's not a gourmet fish place. Prices are very low and the queue is much shorter than at similar sounding places in the town. Portions are bigger too and for sides- like onion rings- you get loads. They'll fry a chocolate bar on request for the quintessential Scottish taste. You can usually park at the door or very near it. I don't know a more convenient chipper in the town. Interesting end of town for people watching from their window. PS. The bad reviews seem to come from people who want chips delivered. Perhaps we should all be forced to move to get chips. Hide them up trees like zookeepers do. We could all do with the exercise.

Put an order in at 6.45pm to be delivered at 7.30pm then changed to 8.05pm still hadn't arrived by 8.30pm, phoned them to be told too busy and not even ready to leave the shop to be delivered, went onto Just Eat and spoke to them, they then phoned and was told at 8.40pm that it would be another 30 mins at the very least ..... SERIOUSLY ??? THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND IF THEY'RE SO BUSY THEN THEY SHOULDN'T BE ACCEPTING ORDERS ONLINE OR OVER THE PHONE ........ NEEDLESS TO SAY I'VE CANCELLED MY ORDER AND GETTING REFUNDED MY MONEY !!!!!!! I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN, IT'S A JOKE AS THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR MONEY SO WHY SHOULD THEY BOTHER TO GIVE YOU A DECENT SERVICE ...... I wouldn't recommend this takeaway to anyone, steer clear guys and save yourself the hassle of waiting for food that's never going to arrive, even though you've paid !!!!!!!!!!

Order arrived later and incorrect, staff were slow to respond and never offered any refund. Over 30 mins from the 1st delivery before the correct order arrived which I declined to accept. Terrible!

Had good and bad from here but the last time was so bad I'm writing this review. Fed up with chip shops being so bad these days, what's changed from the days when they were mostly good??? Sort it out folk.

Ordered on line said it would be here at 8.45. Then shop changed time to 8.55. It is now 9.30 and still no food. 1hr 20min. Have never ordered from here before and don't think I will again!!

Absolutely shocking, ordered for sons t and got it at his bedtime , the chips weren't cooked and the order was wrong , would not go back here!! Only reason for star as it wouldn't let me post without it!
