A firm favourite of ours. A family run exquisite French restaurant. The quality of the food and the service is outstanding. Great for both lunch and dinner. Highly recommend.

What a lovely restaurant, run by a great team serving excellent food

Such a shame. Was going to book once again, then read in Oxford Mail that the food hygiene score in May this year was 1! How could that be? Customers need safe hygiene above all. Later I saw the owner’s reply to this review and suggested three things regarding these very serious allegations about the ex chefs. 1. Which ‘next village’? I live in a next village. 2. Have you asked the council to come back and regrade? 3. Did you report the chefs to the police? No answer to these questions and I note the hygiene rating is still at 1, six months on.

Reading the reviews I feel as if we just were unlucky this night. We were highly recommended this quaint Restuarant so we just had to go. We sat down and were greeted in the normal manner and began to look at the menu. We both love fois gras so that was a given. Mains, little choice of what we both enjoy so chose steak and triple cooked chips with peas and ham. We looked at the wine list and went for a lovely bottle of red (£160). It was decanted in front of us and a glass was poured by the waitress. The starter came out and we both looked a little startled as a lover of fois gras it just simply looked like a pate rather that pan fried fois gras. It tasted nice but not what we expected. Steak is steak. The ham and peas were lovely but the triple cooked chips looked like Mac Donald chips that looked anemic. They were not triple cooked at all. We went on throughout the evening pouring our own wine as a waiter/waitress didn’t appear. I think this is was why we felt unhappy at the end of the day. When we went to pay my partner said we didn’t want to pay the service charge the lady shrugged and did not ask why or how can we do better etc. her reactions were not the best so my partner said….the service was disgusting. You can’t please everyone but surely when spending nearly £400 that warrants something? I did receive an email saying the waitress heard us saying the food was disgusting which is simply not true and nothing about trying to find out what was wrong with our experience. Quite strange. Perhaps another time we would give 5/5 as the reviews show but sadly not on this evening for us After receiving a reply, I am totally disgusted in the owner. You have personally attacked me. He obviously had not read the review in the tone that it was set. The arrogance from him was unfounded and offensive. Please re read the review and take ownership and treat your paying customers with respect and professionalism.

This is our absolute favourite place to eat. A fabulous environment, a friendly welcome, and amazing food to top it all off. I can not recommend this enough.

Food, table, atmosphere all 5 stars and they do a killer coffee. Not to mention the amazing food. Loved that none of the chairs matched and the table was a converted sowing machine. Service was fast and food was great 👍

Wonderful place with great team.

Best lunch we’ve had for a long time! The food was perfection with such high quality ingredients: the biggest king scallop we’ve ever seen, a beautiful beef fillet and delicious creme brûlée. They really care about providing the best service and food in a relaxed, friendly manner, which gives a wonderful experience all round. Our hostess even took our baby for a tour around the restaurant to free up our hands for eating. Highly recommend!

I don't often post feedback but this charming restaurant deserves to be supported and visited. The food is excellent, the service is fabulous and the setting delightful. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch and were really impressed by the experience and warm atmosphere. A delightful taste of France!

After dining at this establishment multiple times, I can confidently attest that I have never had a subpar meal. The remarkable caliber of ingredients utilized in the preparations clearly translates to the impeccable end product that is served. Additionally, the level of service provided is equally exceptional, evidently embodying the fundamental components necessary for any thriving restaurant. It is evident that this establishment is operated by a dedicated family, exemplifying the epitome of excellence. My husband and I had a wonderful meal yesterday. We had the moules and frites Thursday special and it was absolutely delicious. Service was warm and welcoming. Would definitely recommend and will absolutely be returning.

Simply wonderful food, service and setting. Antoine and his team made our meal here one of the best experiences we have had on our UK trip to date. They even dropped us back at our accommodation because we couldn't get a cab! The bouillabaisse was superb, with delicious fresh fish and wonderful nuanced depth of flavour. The lamb rump also excellent. The lobster Caesar was something I've never had before, but again magnificent with generous portions of lobster. This place is a must visit and it's only an hour from London... Go before it gets a Michelin ⭐!

I just wanted to leave a review to express our gratitude for a magnificent post-Baptismal meal we had on the weekend. The food was as tremendous as when we have eaten there on other occasions, the area at the front worked brilliantly for our party of about 20 including young children, and everyone has told us what a fantastic time they had. Even just the little touches, like printing menus for guests without prices on, really helped to make it a special event where everyone could just relax and enjoy the food and company. Merci beaucoup!

Had an absolutely fantastic experience dining here for my sister in law's birthday. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were so attentive. I am pregnant and the waitress took the time to explain what would be the best options for me which was above and beyond. The food was incredible and we had a lovely evening.

My second review for this fabulous restaurant, because it just gets better and better. Camille has now added Normandy charm to the ambience, Lise brought a breath of fresh air to what already is a perfect dining experience, her warmth and charm was only matched by my Chateau d'Yquem. Thank you.

This restaurant is really something special a great atmosphere and really warm service. A paired back menu delivered to perfection. Can recommend the champagne cocktails and they offer just about the best cheese trolley around!

A good place to go with great food a favorite place to go

Came for my father's birthday. The service was exceptional, everyone was so friendly and jovial. The food was at another level, I had a beef Wellington which was so tender I am still thinking about it now. I can't recommend this place enough.

Five Star! The most enjoyable and delectable dining experience in ages! We drove over from Windsor and had the most incredible evening. The atmosphere is truly delightful and the food absolutely divine! The foie gras is a 'must have' and a fine wine list to compliment. Antoine and his team offer top quality dining and service in a beautiful and relaxed setting. Highly recommended!

The best Sunday lunch by far and wonderful hosts.

Food is consistently excellent with a well-chosen wine list. The owners work very hard and the service is warm and professional. They're hugely flexible for families - last time we went we called on spec in the morning and they were happy to accommodate our little boy and newborn. Put simply, we've never had a bad experience here and it's our favourite local place to eat. If I lived in the village I'd eat all my meals there!

Every molecule was perfection. We had dinner for 6 and it was fantastic.

I attended the wonderful Table d’Alix earlier this month for a family celebration. I have to be strictly Gluten Free. As there was no printed acknowledgment of this on their menu I contacted them via email. I received immediate assurances they would assist me on the night. Still a little worried because I did not wish for extra attention during the family gathering, I phoned the restaurant and made a request of dishes I was interested in asking if they could be adapted for me. Again many assurances were given. On the evening itself I was cheerfully accommodated in the most professional and smooth manner. The food was sublime and the service excellent. Despite having made earlier choices I was told if I changed my mind they would be happy to oblige. Nothing was too much trouble and they certainly gave us all a memorable evening. Thank you to all! I cannot recommend enough!

Magnifique!! I have wanted to try here for a while and luckily, my girlfriend treated me to dinner for my birthday. Wonderful, authentic French food and service. Dinner was amazing with absolutely no need to use the seasoning provided on the table. The cheese selection to finish was exemplary. Not cheap but for a special meal, I highly recommended.

Amazing local gem. One of the best dinners we've had in a while! perfection down to every little detail: cosy & tasteful decor, warm fresh bread, heavenly food... we had a great evening there and will definitely be back for desserts. A little pricey but totally worth it.

We were considering booking a table here, given the rave reviews of the food. However, having seen the way the owner, Antoine, replies to reviews he doesn't like (here and on TripAdvisor, for example), we certainly won't be giving him our custom, no matter how good the food is. If you are unable to accept that your customers can have a bad experience, then you don't respect your customers, but then the wholly inappropriate, personal remarks he has made in these replies take this to a whole other dimension. Appalling!

We found this place by chance and had the most wonderful experience. Not only was the food fabulous, they were so friendly and accommodating for her little 1 year old granddaughter. The food is good French cooking and we had excellent lobster salad, beef tartare and foie gras. The bread was also excellent. Highly recommend

We were fortunate to have been given a voucher for this special place for our 25th wedding anniversary. Due to Covid we have waited a year and a day to enjoy. The food was excellent and the service was efficient and wonderfully friendly. Special mention goes to the Burrata and the Bouillabaisse. Both excellent. I haven't tasted dishes as good in a long while. To cap the evening the cost of the meal exceeded the voucher value but our credit card was waived away. A kind gesture and not something that you expect in this age. Thank you. A very special evening and we will definitely be back.

Well its the first time we have been to this very french restaurant since they moved from The Swan at Tetsworth & what a Delight it was, 4 of us in the garden on a lovely evening & The Food was to Die for!! Memories of Very Fine Dining in France came flooding back to Us. Empty Plates & Much Praise All Round. The Owners & their Wonderful Staff are doing Simply Fabulous Job So believe Me pay this place a visit, You will not be dissapointed & will most certainly Return time & time again. Well done The Plough. 10/10.

Very poor service, booked a table just for drinks ( no food ) was told they would accommodate us , Don't class one drink & 50 minutes later, being asked to leave , accommodating , shame on you, meant to be a VILLAGE PUB !

Foods good, nice scenery. Menu isn't too clear as to the ingredients so best to check with staff. Ordered vegetarian Wellington to find goats within.

Food was ok although had to wait an age but was given advance notice of that. Bar area feels cold and unwelcoming, could do with far better furniture.

We went there two nights in a row with our children 😁 My daughter is a very fussy eater, but the staff+ chef did their best to meet her needs and guess what?!. She ate all her dinner 😁. We all enjoyed the night as we didn't have to argue about how much she has to eat 😁. If we come this way again we definitely dine there again.
