After ordering our first takeaway last week, we decided to dine in this evening. The service and the food was totally outstanding. If you haven't been, as like us, you may think it's a little out of the way, go. You certainly won't be disappointed

So we have only had take away from this place with it being under covid lockdown etc so on a rare Child free night we decided to visit and we were not in any way shape or form. Great atmosphere the staff were great at helping you pick a meal that was good for you and when tbe food came ir took it to another level. Great presentation and flavour to the max. Naan bread were crispy and flavoursome. Even the coconut ice cream surpassed all expectations. We will be back

I have driven past this restaurant many times and from the outside, I would not have thought to go in..... BUT, my daughter had been given a recommendation and when we couldn't get into the local pub (lockdown ending busy) we decided to give it a try. I am so pleased we did. The service was excellent, the food was really really good, the atmosphere was great too.The bill was also unexpectedly low...for 5 of us, 3 courses each the bill was £106. We brought some home as a takeaway as we couldn't eat it all. One reason for the extremely low bill is that they do not have an alcohol licence. BONUS in my opinion. We took a case of beer (£8), a bottle of wine and all had enough to drink, We saved what probably would have added £50 to our bill anywhere else. We will definitely go back, so pleased we tried it.

I really like the food and it would unquestionably be my first choice for Indian even though it's also one of the more pricey in the local area if it weren't for the unapologetically slow service. I ordered quite a bit ahead of time a few months ago but, when I went to pick up the food at the agreed time, I still had to wait well over 20 minutes so can only assume that they forgot about my order and didn't start cooking until I got there. They shrugged it off and said they were busy. I decided to give them another chance on Saturday, ordering before 6pm so I hadn't anticipated it getting mad for orders yet. However, they were already really busy and it was hard to get through but they called back (fairly promptly), took my order and after taking my money, informed me that the food would be with me in around 2 hours. I commented at the time that they should have said this first as I would have ordered something from elsewhere (I'm guessing this is why they didn't!). The food arrived 2hrs 50 later (with no apology about the delay or any kind of recompense / good will gesture) and whilst it tasted as good as previous experiences, I was a bit disappointed to find that my husband didn't have any extra coriander he'd requested and that I'd been charged extra for masala sauce. (I don't like the veg sauce that comes with biriani so asked if it could be swapped out, the person who took my order checked and said yes so I'd not anticipated being charged. If I'd known it would be treated as an extra instead of a swap, I'd have kept the veg sauce for my husband to eat the next day since that had effectively been paid for too). I'm pleased that a local business is doing so well BUT please get better at time management so the food is ready when you say it will be and if it is going to take longer than an hour, you really ought to say that straight away and definitely before backing someone in to a corner once taking their money. It's unlikely we will use them again because I just don't think they care that much about the customers once they've had the money.

We have regularly had a take away from the La Royale before Covid-19 restrictions prevented it. Had one this week as we were unable to eat out as we are in tier 3, the food and the service was very good, however, if you are collecting your meal it is wise to give them as much notice as possible as the wait can be longer than you expect. The food was very good, service with a smile and helpful to, would give them a 5 if the preparation time was more predictable. Will certainly use them again in the future.

We have had takeaways from here quite frequently. Nice food and friendly staff however most times I have been given a time for collection I have gone to collect and then waited, this time was well over an hour in the restaurant. I was told the manager was going to contact me regarding the delay (and there were others in at the same time waiting just as long) but they didn't bother. Due to this I won't be back.

We are fairly regular visitors to La Royale. The food is good, and each time we forget how long we have to wait for it. This evening it was almost an hour for the starter and one hour and twenty minutes for the main courses. When they arrived they were delicious, and the staff are friendly. But they presumably prioritise take aways. And after more than an hour you remember that this also happened last time we had a sit down (August I think). Its a Bring you Own place. So, if you are prepared to make it a long evening, make sure you bring plenty of liquor...

For the first time I'm really disappointed with La Royale. Ordered a takeaway which arrived half an hour late. 3 of the dishes were absolutely swimming in grease and my friend had dry, overcooked chicken and an unshelled prawn! I've been having food from here for years but this was nothing like I was expecting. Sorry guys but something seems to have slipped and I may try another curry house next time.

Really disappointed with La Royale this time. Usually eat in on the occasion but thought we’d try takeaway during lockdown. Very busy Saturday night, guy on the phone said an hour and a half wait for collection, thought it was rather long but agreed. I come to collect my food after an hour and a half as agreed and there’s a lot of cars in the car park, many with people waiting for their food. About 3 people waiting inside for theirs and a few standing outside, was told it’d be another 15 minutes as the kitchens backed up, was unfortunate but thought ok fair enough it’s busy. But what I didn’t expect was to only get my food an hour later than when I arrived totalling 2 and a half hours to wait for food. Not a complex order just two curries, two naans and rice. Can’t blame the kitchen or front of house, entirely the managers fault - they’d taken way too many orders and got quoted that they’d done 300 orders that night alone, wasn’t even offered any discount off the order or for one if we return. With that volume of food meant hefty long waiting times for everyone, no one was happy, an absolute shambles. Sort it out if you want people to return!

This is our local Indian restaurant. I must have eaten here fifty times. The food is always very good, sometimes excellent, and the menu has some different dishes. The problem however is the service. It seems to take longer every time we go. On Saturday it was over an hour before we got our starters, and another hour for the mains. The restaurant wasn't even full. From where I sat, I did observe bag after bag of takeaway being handed over the counter. La Royale needs to decide whether it is a restaurant or a takeaway as it doesn't seem to be able to handle both. I was tempted to call and order a takeaway for delivery to our table. By the way - it has a bring-your-own-drinks policy, which saves you money, but you need to know this before you set off as it it is miles from anywhere you can buy a bottle :)

Food hygiene rating 5.. I don’t know how! Ordered poppadoms with the pickles and the pickle tray came out with a good variety of dips yet there was broken bits of poppadom.. NOT OURS in the dips. Also could see that the mango chutney had bits of the red sauce in there and the onion was mixed into the other dip with crusty bits on the side!!! Clearly they re use the prickle trays between guests! This is absolutely disgusting and not hygienic in the slightest. Totally put us off our foods so we ordered the bare minimum as we were starving. Didn’t touch the pickle tray and ate poppadoms dry. Won’t be returning it’s just vile! To top off the visit it was absolutely freezing inside, so cold I ate my food with my jacket still on! Tried this restaurant on the off chance it could be a hidden gem. No thanks won’t be returning!!

Came here during the week, found the two waiters to be more interested in their phones or talking to each other than the customers. Both seemed like they couldn’t be bothered and were more interested in smoking outside. The food took longer than necessary to come out of the kitchen and definitely not up to the same taste standard as other Indian’s in Sleaford. The parking is terrible with stones that are far too deep and the toilets are filthy with broken tiles in the men’s bathroom and my wife commented on how the toilet seat in the women’s is falling apart. Would appear this place care more about their own profits than looking after customers and putting money back into the establishment!!!

This is very local to me and I have used it on a number of occasions, however, this time I was pretty disappointed. The group I was with (approximately 20) were the only people in there at the time. The service was slow, it was such a long wait between the warm plates being brought to the table to the food arriving that the plates were cold. The young man who first welcomed us and served our drinks is the only reason this is getting a 3 for service. Once the food did arrive to be honest I found it quite bland and not of the standard I have come to expect here. I had a lamb dish and the meat was over cooked and quite tough. The thing that really annoyed me was that the staff started to clear the table while a couple of us were still eating our meal. This made me feel rushed and I ended up leaving the last of my food as I felt awkward. The atmosphere is not great and here and just felt we were a bit of an inconvenience. I do not think I will be returning.

Went here with a group of 8 and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. The bring your own booze is a great idea and they place it all in the fridge until required. The menu is extensive and you are spoilt for choice. The spice rating I would say was lower than advertised e.g hot is really medium. This is just one of those things in Indian restaurants but once you’ve tried it once you know where to aim for on the second visit, which there certainly will be here. The only thing that let it down was the attention to our glasses, which we would have liked filling a little more regularly and secondly the portion sizes were a little small. Difficult to share rice etc and certainly portions for one which is unusual for an Indian restaurant. Apart from that the food was extremely tasty.

I'm in a bit of a predicament with this review as I feel bad for leaving it 2/5 as the food was soo good but unfortunately the service didn't match. This curryhouse has a bit of a weird set up, located on a man A road you'd expect it to be one of those American style diners from the location. This is definitely a no thrills place, poor decoration, minimal effort with seating and comfort (I've been her once before in winter and the radiators didn't work it was bloody freeing).... However always averagely busy the food must be good or just a lack of gastronomique eateries in the Sleaford area? (I think the later) You can BYOB to this place but in my first visit they didn't have a bottle opener for wine which is pretty ridiculous... On This visit it took them 15 mins to make the two meter journey from the bar to bring it to our table and still forgot the additional glasses we asked for... Poppadoms arrived before we could open our drinks which is just stupid! We ordered our food no starters just mains, so did the 3 tables who came in after us however they got their food with the following hour (so did two people who turned up for take a away), we had to wait 90mins bearing in mind there was only 5 of us it was a bit of a joke! Staff stood about at the bar not really doing anything... Usual no direction in service story! The food however was surprisingly good, I'd avoid any of their prawn curries as these contain zero flavour as remarques by two people on my table (and my prior visit). The chicken tikka Ceylon was very good with the right amount of heat and depth to the sauce. The sundries her are great, very good pilau rice and naan and the paneer tikka is ok but comes with a silly nouveau cuisine presentation with three dollops of green sauce on a black plate.... it's just needs another two pieces of paneer on a simple plate to make it right I think personally. If I can give any feedback to this place is that they just need to stop faffing about stick to the basics and to them bloody well. Tackle the rubbish waiting time and improve on the speed of delivery. More people will come back and they'll turn over more tables. If in the area give the place a go but take two hours for a two person visit or you might be there the next day if there any more of you!

No apologies, no discount offered, nothing, it was as if this had become the norm.. It wasn't just us either as there were a number of other customers becoming more and more irate with the amount of time they had to wait. In addition the naan had an unpleasant gritty texture. For the price I would be inclined to travel a little further for food that was exceptional but only slightly more expensive.

La Royale, from the outside, looks like a grotty and unappetising greasy spoon, in fact it took me some time after moving to the area to visit, under the recommendation of a friend. The food and service however are simply sublime, staff always happy to help and willing to modify dishes without question. Food equally as good with takeaway, I've never had a delivery but with collection the food has always been ready on time. I wish the owners would spend a bit of cash on the outside looks though and I'm sure they will increase their footfall overnight.

This restaurant is set on a main road near Sleaford and could easily be missed as it seems to be on the site of what might have been a petrol station in the past. The place was busy on the Saturday but they managed to find a table for us, so probably worth booking if you want to eat there. The food was good, what you might expect in a UK Tandoori Restaurant. The staff were prompt and attentive, even if it was busy. It was a bit noisy, as you might expect with a full restaurant. A few soft furnishing might help to deaden the noise a little though.

The La Royale is located on the A17 between RAFC Cranwell and Sleaford. From the outside it does look slightly run down and like the type of place which is best passed by. But stop and try the food, you will be surprised The menu is as one would expect from an Indian restaurant but the food choices cover for all tastes and pallets. The staff are attentive, friendly and polite. It is well worth a visit.

We've just revisited La Royale Indian restaurant. We'd not been for a while so we thought we'd have dinner there a few nights ago ..on a Saturday. A few new faces since our last visit but the service is still excellent, very attentive and helpful. There's a great menu and the food is superb. Must go more often.

Visited the restaurant with family to celebrate my father in laws birthday, so this was my partner and I first visit. The venue is an old roadside cafe that doesn't look all that great on the exterior but has been tastefully redecorated inside. There are about 40 covers as well as a take away service. The staff are pleasant but although the venue was less than half full it took around 30 minutes for our order to be taken. When the food arrived it was served on very hot plates ensuring that our meals were hot. There is a reasonably sized menu with a good choice of courses. Although tasty I did feel that my main could have had a wee bit more flavour. But all in all a nice evening, good food and service.

The service was very slow even though there were only a few other customers at the time were were there and the food was bland and unappetizing. The main issue I have with La Royale when we arrived there was a gang of guys standing in front of the door smoking who we had to ask to step aside so that we could enter. When they finished smoking they went back inside to join their mates as they were using the sitting area where customers should wait to be served or wait for takeaways as a bar. They were there throughout our meal and still there when we left getting rowdier and louder the more they drank. La Royale has an identity crisis is it a badly run restaurant or a back street boozer? I definately wont be going back to find out.

Visited La Royale recently with my daughter following hospital visit to Nottingham. We were short of time and asked if we could be away in one hour. This was acted upon and we left in fifty minutes not having felt rushed. The food and service was excellent, the atmosphere was light, airy and friendly and we had a very enjoyable meal. Authentic music was played throughout. The whole meal was very reasonably priced and we will visit again as soon as able.

The choice of place always after or before a special occasion or holiday. Very convenient to get to - and whilst at first I thought the out of town location may be not so good for it, its reputation goes before it so people know through other people's recommendations that it is a great place to go! Staff were very helpful whilst we dined there and the food and flavour is exquisite. If you want good curry in Sleaford and surrounding areas, then I would look no further than La Royale and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone! The only thing is when a large group of people are in, it can be quite noisy, but that could be any restaurant! Overall, it's fantastic!

OK. So La Royale was highly recommended to me by numerous friends as the new kid on the block in terms of curry house favourites in the area. So my expectations were for something good. And that's the problem I have with La Royale. It's not that there anything wrong. Service was OK, if a bit aloof. Food was OK, but a bit average. Venue is OK but you're not going to visit the Royale for its location or ambience. It's just OK. Safe. Tasty'ish but OK. And OK is disappointing when you've been built up to expect something better. Maybe next time...

We often use this for both takeaways and eat-in - as do a good number of RAF staff and visitors from the Flying Training School at Cranwell. Good food, great service, can get very busy at peak times - but that should tell you something about how the locals rate it which is why it is popular. Plan your visit to avoid those peaks and you'll get great service every time. But don't let the outside colour your opinions! Money is being invested in upgrading little by little and it is very different to even a few years ago,

Have been here several times and booked again with some reservations, but as a handy midway point for the family to meet, decided to give it another go. The table we reserved was not the correct one, but fortunately the one we requested was available. We always ask for a radiator table as they turn the heating off towards the end of the evening and it gets very cold! The owner is extremely friendly and welcoming but some of the staff coukd do with a little training and attention to their dress code, we had an excellent view of the bar man's underwear, well, most of it actually as his trousers didn't cover his rear end! The waiter knocked a whole glass of red wine over my husband's shirt, brought a small glass of lager as an apology and didn't inform the manager/owner. No effort was made to clean up the shirt and my poor husband spent the entire night damp and feeling very uncomfortable. The food was very 'red' and un-natural in appearance, taste ok, but not amazing. On every visit the 'buttered prawns' are described on the menu as 'battered prawns'. I have pointed this out every time and it has still not been changed. The dining room is smart and clean but I don't think we will be returning.

Loved my previous three visits to this restaurant, but on this occasion, my takeaway curry was extremely oily.I rang the front of house staff who were more than willing to supply me with a new curry to my taste. As I arrived to fetch my new curry, I was confronted by the rather aggressive chef who insisted on patronising me that curries separated when they get cold.. (I live five minutes away from the restaurant) and how I was too young/naive to know anything about curries. The replaced food was very tasty but I do not appreciate being insulted by the chef when the customer isn't satisfied with the meal. Whatever happened to the customers always right?!

Been here a couple of times and it's getting worse. I guess that what happens when you let a bunch of teenagers run the place. Food was warm at best. Wine list had most of the wines sold out. Service was non existent. Had to ask for menus. Ask for drinks. Ask for the table to be cleared. The serving staff just have no idea what service should be like. I guess because they're so young they've never seen what service should be like. It gets one star as the food didn't kill me. I won't be going back.

I would honestly say I've had at least 100 meals from this restaurant. 1 every few week for the last 4 years at least. Whenever I am speaking to people ref Indian food and they mention Agra or Green Elachi I ask them if they have tried La Royale and for some reason they haven't.. They really should though!I've tried A LOT of their dishes and it nearly always takes top spot for my favourite of that particular one. The only thing I have ever had issues with was the 'chicken Pakora'. Admittedly it wasn't even on the menu but they always accommodated me when I ordered it. The batter was often soggy and fell off the chicken, not like the Pakoras I had eaten in the past.Apart from that I can't fault it. Their Passandas, Massalas and Keema naans especially are second to none! I'm not sure if I'm the only one but I'm always put off if the mint sauce is green. Rest assured it is the ever staining yellow here! Facilities:Great location Plenty of parking (although take it slow as there are a few pot holes)Clean toiletsAircon at an acceptable temperature Friendly and efficient staffWriting this has made me hungry!

I have eaten here on 4 occasions and it has become progressively worse. I have ordered take away meals on 3 occasions and it is abysmal. Go to the Agra on the other side of Sleaford instead. Much better customer care, the meals come out at the same time and hot and it doesn't take 2hrs for a take away. I will take my work nights out to the Agra in the future.

We've eaten in the restaurant once and had takeaways three times. The quality of the food seems to be consistent and quite good. On our one time in the restaurant we were rushed by the waiters to make choices but then had to wait a considerable time for the meals to actually arrive. The portion sizes, especially on takeaway, have become laughably small. In our last meal a prawn starter had 2 small prawns. 2. The mains have 4-5 cubes of chicken breast. It's disgraceful - happy to pay for good quality food, but not happy to pay high prices for hors-d'oeuvre sized mains. We feel we've given the place a fair chance but will not return.

As others have mentioned, I have probably driven by this place 100 times without giving it a second thought or seeking it out as a "dining destination". From the outside, it may not look so posh (next to an abandoned gas station that now operates as a family owned car wash) but the inside is great. Walked in on Tuesday night, was seated quickly and had prompt, courteous service throughout the meal. Onion bhaji for me, mixed starter for my husband. I had prawns, rice, and a cheese naan and he had lamb - overall great flavors and we really enjoyed our meal. Thanks!

* Traditional Bangladeshi food * I stumbled across the Old Coach Tandoori by default as a lot of the other takeaways in the locality are closed on a Tuesday. When I called to place an order, I had the option for collection, delivery or to eat there. I had not realised that it was a restaurant. There was seating inside and outside; I was thrilled to save myself washing up. The staff were attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, not greasy and very well priced. I took some home and it was even better the following day. - Order several poppadums as they are thin. Lovely and fresh, but I wish I had ordered more as the lime pickle was really good. - Try the chef’s special rice. It has cashew nuts in it and pairs really well with a peshwari naan - No alcohol, soft drinks only but pub next door - Quiet and no music. If you’re looking for atmosphere, may be best to get a takeaway. However, I enjoyed the fact there were not many customers and is great for my partner who is neurodiverse. I will definitely be visiting again!

Can't fault the quality of food, but delivery service is shocking, placed order at 18.00 for delivery at 19.45-20.00 phoned up at 20.40 to ask where our food was, got told the new delivery driver drove slowly, but he had left 10 mins previously with our food, and would be 5 mins !! Food finally arrived at 21.20 ! I can only presume the new delivery driver is using a push bike to deliver the food, very disappointing, back to ordering from elsewhere I'm afraid, and if you want your food delivering within half an hour of quoted delivery time, and not to be lied to when you call to question where your food is, I suggest you do the same
