La Riviera at Culler coats in North Tyneside

Lovely cosy café with a very welcoming atmosphere, my mew favourite café in Cullercoats. Very friendly staff and delicious coffee too.

I won’t be going back again, but then I won’t go back to the boatyard again either. I don’t know where to start with my food. The knife and fork were clean at least.

Had a super delicious brunch, lovely place great service by friendly very helpful staff. We would highly recommend the eatery and will definitely return.

After a poor experience at another cafe we called here. The staff were friendly and had a good coffee. The croissant was fresh and the fruit scone my husband had was good. I would recommend giving it a go.

second visit this year,dog friendly,we had our pug with us.wife had earl grey tea,i had capocinno,theresa our friend had a skinny latte,a bacon butty went down well,plenty of bacon,brown sauce,no issues with the staff,welcoming and cheery and civil. definatly reccomend la riviera.

Called here today as my usual cafe was really busy.wereas this cafe was nearly empty.the female staff were cheeky rude and no customer skills.will never ever come back here.

Bobbed in as we were passing really glad we did pizzas absolutely brilliant and the staff are brilliant really friendly, comfortable and relaxing if I lived in Cullercoats or surrounding area this would be in my top 3. Thank you to the staff for being awesome.

My wife and I (and our Fox Terrier) are regular visitors to La Riviera at Cullercoats (Trip Advisor you need to update your location it’s Cullercoats not Culler coats!) This is a small family run cafe bistro and it’s great. We usually just enjoy coffee and cakes but occasionally grab a meal. The food is excellent and always beautifully presented Service excellent really welcoming and friendly Definitely worth a visit

Been here multiple times and the food and service is always excellent, be it for a bacon sandwich and coffee or a huge antipasti platter. Would highly recommend.

Great little cafe in cullercoats. Great coffee , but you must try the pizzas. Thin crust packed with flavour. We got the salad too, which was fresh with a great balsamic dressing. Perfect to brighten a cold dull day at the coast. Even sells Moretti on draft! Better than most in the area, in my opinion. Warm welcome and good service too

We went for lunch this week - our first visit since the lockdown & we weren't disappointed. We had a shared platter, prepared with great care, beautifully presented, with a good selection of cold meats & cheeses , olives, artichokes, tomatoes etc We like the Italian family atmosphere, the great & modestly priced food & the friendly staff.

Popped in after walking the dog on sunday morning. Only one lad serving so service was a little slow. The food and drinks were worth the wait. 2x sausage and bacon sarnies, lovels crispy bacon, fresh little sotties. cappuccino was really nice and also a great iced coffee. Will be heading back soon no doubt.

Just left this cafe absolutely disgusted with what was served up. We went in for a cheese scone. Admittedly it was late in the day, but the scones we were served were stale and so obviously not fresh today, mine was also grey in the middle and as the young man serving us had buttered them for us he would have seen this. I get that they don’t want to waste food, but if you are going to serve up scones that aren’t fresh on the day, you should at least alert the customer to it and even offer them at a reduced price. Scones don’t keep fresh but are ok if they are frozen on the day of baking, so rather than give your customers stale scones and risk reviews like this and lost revenue, as we will not be returning, maybe that should be a consideration. We paid upfront and weren’t asked during the visit if everything was ok, so weren’t given an opportunity to say we were disappointed. As we were only acknowledged as we were leaving and even then when collecting the plates with the uneaten scones on them, still didn’t acknowledge a problem. Yes we should have spoken up, but I would have preferred they were proactive in their customer care. The only upside of the visit was that the hubby liked the coffee. I love Italian food. I love simple, great Italian food - this is not it. I get the impression that the current staff have no idea or knowledge about Italian fare, but that they have just bought an already established Italian cafe. It's a real shame. I asked for a "Limonata" (it's on the menu) and the waitress had no idea what I was talking about. I then said "San Pelegrino" - still a blank. So I said "a can of lemon fizzy pop". I mean come-on this is basic. The cafe had two other tables of guests. Despite this it took over 20mins for our paninis to come. Not sure why if I'm honest. On to the food - and this was poor. I ordered a panini - prosciutto, rocket and mozzarella. One I have had similarly many times in venice. This was awful. The bread was cheap and dry, like a crustini. The mozzarella was a single slice of cheap supermarket mozzarella! A real Italian would not let this in their restaurant at all! And there was no rocket, just a few leaves of lettuce. This is not the same, and just not good enough. The salad on the side was quiet nice, or it would have been if they had used olive oil, but it wasn't. I don't know what they used, but it had a bad aftertaste - maybe pumpkin seed or something, but it didn't go at all. Lastly - the price. £6 for a really poor panini! The new owners had crossed out all the old prices and hand-written new ones on (at inflate prices). They couldn't even be bothered to print new menus! Avoid this place - it's terrible.

Avoid!! Food was disgusting, the old woman who works there was rude and arrogant, urghhh, would not go here there are far nicer places in Cullercoats.

Excellent venue for lunch. We both had Gorgonzola panini with a wonderful salad. Staff friendly and efficient. Extremely good value and varied choice. Reasonably priced. What spoiled it a little was that dogs were allowed inside. Had the impression it may be under new ownership’.
