The coffee was OK. My wife liked hers to be fair. Soy milk was very sweet. The service was appaling. Blonde haired, eastern European lady maybe in her 50s was miserable. I got my order wrong and she huffed and puffed about it. No "that's OK don't worry" just muttering under her breath. The sweet treats did look very good thoug!

We popped in early before the tourists arrived, friendly, helpful staff. Lovely garden. They allow dogs but only in the garden or in a small room at the back over 3 tables by the loo. (Not so ideal indoors) That said the food is very good home baked / made! Great service and good on price.

Simply the best eggs and avocado I have had. I mean that genuinely. Sourdough bread, fresh and soft as it should be. Eggs perfectly presented and runny, avocado in the right quantity and consistency. A friendly welcome, lovely vibe. The easiest 5* review I’ve ever given.

This cafe is in an amazing location and on entry we were greated and told that they had a dog friendly seating area in the back, which we were welcome to sit in and she told us she would be with us shorting handing us the menus. We decided to both get rolls and coffees and made our decision quickly. We waited for almost 10 minutes, and no one came to our table to serve us. It was not busy at all in there at the time, maybe 2 other tables. So in the end my boyfriend had to go up and order. The area at the back is a little small for dogs, but there is an outside area too. Plus tables did look at little unclean, but our table was fine. When we did get our food it was amazing a tasted really good and the coffee was great too. Plus, the atmosphere was nice in there also.

Lovely cafe close to the Christmas shop. We've been coming to Bourton for year's & it's full of cafés/restaurants & in my view they are OK but this place was wonderful. Friendly guys behind the counter, beautiful cake options & baguettes which we had as a takeaway (top tip it's a few mins walk to the river so you can sit there & eat) but you can also eat inside & although I didn't see it they have a garden. Good prices & top quality food. 👌

The staff made us feel very unwelcome. We initially sat at an empty table, only to be shouted at across the cafe that the table was reserved. He seemed really angry, but there was no indication that it was reserved, so I’m not sure how we could have known. He then instructed us to go into the back. Our tea took quite a long time to arrive. Not long after, some new guests arrived and the same staff member ordered us to move tables (for a second time). Before we even had a chance to respond he started roughly moving all of our stuff, spilling our tea in the process. I have no idea what we’d done to offend him so much, but it made us feel very unwelcome. As if we’d really inconvenienced him for having the audacity to pop in for some cake and a cup of tea.

Food was OK but then my wife had the audacity to get her laptop out to reply to a work email and she was told in no uncertain terms that laptops were not allowed and she needed to immediately put it away. This would be fine if it was clearly stated as their policy before you entered and paid for food but there are no visible signs on the entrance door or menu etc. We left and bought more drinks in one of the other lovely cafe's in the village and it was a completely different experience - be warned!

Nice welcome and a very lovely coffee. Full English was also nice. Sausage patty though - would have preferred a decent local sausage. Beans in a little dish is nice so they don’t spread. Eggs Benedict cooked perfectly. Superb runny egg. We were most happy. One thing I noticed though was the mention to two mums meeting up that they had no high chairs. There is however a separate area for dogs? Would happily go back if passing through. Prices were fair for the location. Nice ambience inside. ‘Real’ effect wood burner was nice on a cold day.

This a lovely little shop with great coffee, wonderful home made cakes and light snacks. The thing that sets it apart from the other shops in Bourton is the home made cakes. The shop moves away from the normal coffee shop options and concentrates on light, fresh and exceptionally tasty cakes, based on the owners Polish heritage. I would highly recommend this shop if you’re in Bourton

As a local, I usually don’t review places because I don’t actually go to places in the village. I’ve been to La Reine a few times in the last year or so and each experience has been made uncomfortable by the female owner. I can’t fault the quality of the coffee and cake, as that is really good, and I also cannot fault the other staff. Went in on Boxing Day, being one of the places in the village actually open, it was busy, understandably. I was aware of the ‘not allowed to only have a coffee, tables are for food’ rule put in place by the owner having been burnt by that before, so me and my sister opted to get some cake, only to find we clearly did not spend enough money to warrant having a table - despite spending nearly £20 on coffee and cake for two. We were denied a table, rudely may I add, so had takeaway instead. The guy at the counter was kind and polite, and the barista looked like he was working in 2x speed to get the takeaway coffees done (think that might be because so many people were denied a table because it was reserved for the big spenders) and I do not have an issue with any other member of staff but the owner. She is rude to many customers, makes it clear she cares not for the customers, but for money. Don’t get me wrong, businesses need money, I get that, but at least don’t be so blatantly obvious with your greed and actually show you care for the customers too. Be good to the locals and you get regular customers, and recommendations. However, after being spoken to like you are beneath the owner (makes me feel sorry for the staff if that is her customer service) people tend to get a little upset, and in turn, they give you bad reviews. Again, I reiterate, the other staff are wonderful, and I have nothing but sympathy for them being tarnished by one very rotten egg.

The attitude of the lady who runs this place is disgusting. I went once last summer and my toddler accidentally smashed a plate by knocking it off the table. All the owner did was scowl at me and tut while she was cleaning it up even though i apologised over and over. She then showed me the invoice for the plate and wanted me to pay for it! She was so so rude about it! I then returned there today for brunch with 5 friends, got there early to do 45 mins of laptop work beforehand and she literally kicked me out for using my laptop in there!!!! So she lost the custom of 6 brunches but thats her problem. Her attitude and the way she speaks to her customers is disgusting and so rude. Never going there ever again, every time is a horrible experience.

Hello, I came in yesterday for a cooked breakfast which was graciously adapted and perfectly delicious. The Earl Grey you use is fragrant and delicate. So good that I didn’t need lunch, but on walking back through the village in the middle of the day I couldn’t resist coming in again, what to have??? More Earl Grey of course and a slice of the most divinely light and flavoursome Victoria Sandwich. I have recommended you already, apparently a decent English breakfast is not easy to find in Bourton so you fit the bill. The cafe is welcoming, tidy and clean. A bright and newly designed look without unnecessary fuss. So many places treat tourists with disdain because it’s likely they may never be back, but you serve everyone well. Thank you for making my day. I walked 8 miles on that breakfast and cake and throughly enjoyed Bourton as a result of finding a good start with your cafe.

Arrived to the area on a tour and went in to buy some sandwiches for myself and my two daughters.. we were pressed for time so decided to take the sandwiches with us and eat while we walked around. My daughter went to find the bathroom while they made out sandwiches and food and I was shocked to see my daughter face as she returned telling me a lady scolded her and said she couldn’t use the bathroom because she was not sitting down to eat. She shyly told her that her mom had just bought a few sandwiches but the lady (maybe owner) said no. I have never in all my travels heard of this. I can understand if people just walk in but we had made a nice purchase… when the lady wasn’t looking I took my daughter to the bathroom in anticipation of her yelling at us but I had no choice, she needed to go. The lady wasn’t around but when I got my sandwiches, the young man (helper) apologized. I think he knew this was totally wrong and unacceptable to deny access after a nice purchase and yell and a young girl. This restaurant is not a representation of this beautiful town and as I saw it, it is the tourist that help support it.stay away and go elsewhere to buy food. So sad because the sandwiches were good and her helpers were really nice. She needs to leave if they want the business to thrive. I felt sorry for the nice workers because they looked unhappy probably because of her. Anyways, we would never go back and I’m sure sandwiches can be bought elsewhere and they’d let us wash our hands and use the bathroom.🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Delicious food, excellent service and lovely decor! We went there twice in the same day, really lovely place. The outdoor seating area is also a hidden gem, I was surprised that it wasn’t crammed! Thank you

Very smart cafe serving quality sandwiches and salads. Breakfast menu too and an excellent selection of homemade cakes. We had a ‘curried chicken’ bap and a ‘club’ bap and they were really tasty. It’s obvious they use only fresh, quality ingredients. The coffee (espresso and...

We drink coffee and eat here regularly, both on the weekend and during the week and have never been disappointed. The friendly service, generous portions of freshly made food, baked goods and of course, fabulous coffee, keep us coming back again.

Great latte with banana loaf. Just out of the hustle bustle of the center of town. Casual seating, and nice selection of cakes.

Popped in for lunch while we were in Bourton and thoroughly enjoyed our Brie, pancetta and cranberry roll and a couple of coffees. As the homemade cakes were tempting we decided to try them as well. A good choice of snacks and cakes are available,...

Such a pity as all the other shopkeepers, restaurateurs, etc were lovely. Bourton is a very attractive village in the heart of the Cotswolds. We will certainly return to Bourton but not to La Reine.

Can’t fault the surroundings and helpful receptionist. Restaurant wise it was far from what we expected, inattentive and food was mediocre. You could do so much better than this with good management, I echo a lot of these reviews.

£6.50 for a child’s lunch box is a bit much . granted it has several items in but to be honest you could reduce the content by the yoghurt and aim for a £5 charge? I found the tomato soup extremely salty so altogether a little disappointed. rest of hot food looked good .
