I can honestly say that this is the best meal we have ever had I a restaurant. Pricy but definitely worth it. The wait staff are professional. The courses are served in a timely fashion. The background music is I obtrusive and relaxing. Most of all the flavors are outstanding. Incidentally, the waiter brought a full bottle of wine instead of the 500 ml that we ordered, and he honored his promise to only charge us for the smaller amount.

Great location and a charming hotel. First time in the Cotswolds , really enjoyed it. Rooms need upgrades. Mattresses definitely need changing. Friendly staff but service was slow all over and had to remind them of orders a few times to get it. Probably understaffed.

The building is a grand old stone manor house in the scenic village of Lower Slaughter. Upon arrival you are seated in their lounge/bar area where it is suggested you have a pre-dinner drink. Curiously they take your dinner order in the lounge, well in advance of the meal. Eventually you are taken downstairs to the restaurant. The food and service were OK, but nothing memorable nor was it such that we would return. Great location, but food wise we found it unremarkable and the service average.

We had our 42nd Wedding Anniversary dinner at the Fine Dining Restaurant of The Slaughters Manor House. Quite simply: MOST DISAPPOINTING! 1. Poor service; the server at our table was a kid who said it was his first day on the job! The kid didn’t know what the dishes were and what was in them! A highfalutin restaurant and that’s the best they can do? Really? 2. Lackadaisical menu; for a 3 course fixed prix dinner the dishes were mediocre, the portions underwhelming (and we are light eaters!!), and the presentation abysmal. 3. No follow through: We were told over the phone after we had made the dinner reservation that the Chef would offer petit fours to celebrate our anniversary. Nothing was offered but that’s less of an issue - an acknowledgment and some suggestions on how to make it a special evening for us would have been nice. Was it a disconnect? Was it just dishonest? Or was it simply incompetence and lack of comprehension of what service really means when one comes to a supposedly Michelin recognised establishment? 4. Poor value for Money: we spent $520 that evening for 3 people; it was a ridiculous amount to pay for what we received in terms of service, quality of food, portions, and enjoyment. 5. Misleading promotion: the fixed prix menu is akin to price gauging! To add insult to injury the food definitely DID NOT come up to the standards of a Michelin recognised establishment. We have had better food at gourmet pubs!!

The Slaughters Manor House has been an abject disappointment. We would never visit it again!

This was an absolutely wonderful dinner experience. It was my wife and I for dinner. We were able to come a half hour early and enjoy great cocktails outside, in front of the manner beside the beautiful croquet field while we reviewed the menu and took our time ordering dinner. The facilities, staff, and service were outstanding. The food and wine selections were over the top. Note: This is the kind of place to slow down and enjoy every bit, so if you’re on a tight schedule, let it go till next time. It is truly a place to be there (and get spoiled) now.

One star is even too generous for this hotel. I immediately had a bad feeling upon arrival with a “check-in isn’t until 3 PM” greeting. Turns out that feeling was 100% accurate. Asked to have my bags stored until check-in then wandered the hotel to find a restroom, all while two staff members never looked up to offer directions, or any information about the hotel and surrounding area for that matter. This set the tone for my two night stay. Any time I asked a staff member a question, they looked petrified due to lack of knowledge and customer service skills (basic questions like hikes/walks around the area, is it possible to have ice sent to my room, are you serving lunch today, can I order a latte, do you have a wine key). The rooms are filthy - dust, bugs in bed, spiders, hair in bathrooms, a mini fridge that was barely cold and crusted spillage at the bottom. Milk for coffee was left in the room, but stored in an insulated container (apparently as faulty as the mini fridge) therefore it was spoiled. In addition, they seem to be understaffed. For example, the bartender was never at the bar (saw him moving furniture at one point) and the housekeeper appeared to be overwhelmed given a guest’s leftover room service dishes sitting out in the hall all day. Breakfast is included but not edible (the eggs were the same color as the salmon) and the coffee is merely brown water. Upon check out, a gentleman ahead of me was complaining about how the kitchen ran out of food during dinner service the night before and the staff’s response was “that’s not the feedback we typically receive” accompanied with an unwillingness to make it right. I voiced some of the above concerns and was told they’ll use the information for training purposes. I’ve never paid so much for such lackluster service and filth accommodations. My airport hotel at the Sheraton in Charlotte was cleaner, offered a better atmosphere and more amenities than Slaughters Manor House. Hate to end on a negative so here’s your one positive - if you tend to travel with an old IPod, you’re in for a real treat, as the room includes an iPod docking station with surround sound speakers. Stay anywhere but here, don’t even stop for a meal or drink, many wonderful options nearby.

Was looking for somewhere special to enjoy a Valentines Dinner , remembered this place, had stayed here many years ago. Has changed in that time, the restaurant is in what was the swimming pool, but quintessentially the place is the same - a beautiful manor house. And the location is idyllic , even on a rainy February evening. The staff were excellent and we were quickly enjoying a pre dinner Mojito before sitting down to sample chef's tasting menu. Was excellent - started with oyster - what else on Valentines , and then on to a journey for our taste buds. Highly recommended !!

We were staying at the Slaughters Inn and decided to treat ourselves to fine dining on the first night; we wished we hadn't. The surroundings were opulent and the lounge area welcoming but with only four customers in the large dinning room it did not feel so comfortable. Service was alright but not very efficient especially as it took about 15 minutes to find that the wine we ordered from the list was not available. The food arrived in good order (well the kitchen was not over stretched) but was bland and not significant in any way; our local restaurant does tastier food for half the price. We simply cannot recommend this restaurant despite the lovely surroundings.

This restaurant is one of our favourite restaurants in the UK! We have enjoyed dinner in many other hotel restaurants but not as good as at The Slaughters Manor. We are very fortunate to have this place just a few minutes walk from our cottage. The restaurant is ideal for those who want a romantic night out in a very iconic location. If you live in the Cotswolds or are visiting the area then this is a very special restaurant to enjoy dinner, lunch or Afternoon Tea. The service we receive is so amazing and the staff are very professional and always make us feel very welcomed. The ambiance is charming and always gives us a fantastic dinning experience with fabulous food, wine and service. The service is unmatched: definitely fine dinning with beautiful presentation and inventiveness. Highly recommended!

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. We sat by a roaring log fire in the lounge for drinks and snacks before being relocated to the dining room. We were treated to a tasty amuse bouche along with fresh sourdough bread. To start I had the salmon and my partner had the cauliflower, both delicious followed by the venison and the beef, again wonderful. I couldn’t resist having the cheese plate which was a generous selection and came with three chutney accompaniments and three types of cracker. The gentleman who served the cheese kindly recommended some combinations which I thought was a lovely touch. My partner had the apple dessert which didn’t stay long on the plate. Everything was beautifully presented and the place decked out for Christmas. Great and personable service, would highly recommend.

Avoid!! My husband and I visited for lunch to celebrate our 10year wedding anniversary. We were married at the church next door and having eaten here many years ago, we thought a return visit would be a special way of marking our anniversary, sadly we were very disappointed! We booked ahead and were advised on booking that lunch would be served in the lounge not the restaurant, we had no problem with that. The decor has changed under the new management and although first impressions were good we soon felt uncomfortable about the cleanliness. The waitress showed us to our table which had been “pre-allocated to us” in the bay window and it can only be described as filthy. The bench seat cushion was covered in stains, the throw cushions behind we also dirty, there was cake icing squashed into the seat and coffee stains all over the window sill. I pointed this out to the waitress who said there had been a wedding the night before with children and then shrugged it off - no genuine apology or attempt to clean it up. We chose a different table but the armchair covers were just as stained and dirty so we moved again, third time lucky! We were then dismayed to see that a couple who had come in after us were shown to the “cake covered” seats which had not been cleaned! The menu is poor and ill thought through, the staff are a little hapless and disinterested and the prices are extortionate- £16 for an egg sandwich, £19 for 1 glass of champagne and ketchup served in sachets!! Over the weekend we visited many of the top hotels in the area which were all fabulous apart from this one - such a shame as it was once every bit as charming as the village it’s in.

We had been gifted a champagne afternoon tea by our daughter and son in law at the Slaughters Manor House. The Manor House is an imposing building located within lovely grounds. The village itself is quintessentially Cotswolds. The afternoon tea was lovely with plenty of choices of tea blends and coffee. A nice selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes which defeated us. The remaining cakes were nicely boxed to take home. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall a lovely experience.

Popped in for late afternoon drinks and a light bite at the bar. (We were staying at the more informal Slaughter Country Inn opposite). The cocktails were fantastic and by around 7.30 in the evening, we were lucky enough to have the beautiful lounge area to ourselves. Other folks had moved on to eat at the restaurant. Note that the Manor does not open on a Sunday or a Monday so you will need to time your visit. A big thanks to the bartender (I forgot their name) who looked after us and shared with us about the heritage of the building.

We had full afternoon tea with Champagne which was quite expensive for the overall experience. We sat outside in a beautiful setting. The service was aloof, delayed and a bit scattered given the distance from the hotel and the staff’s preference to plop you in a stuffy and overcrowded indoor lounge. We hadn't been warned that the 8 course tasting menu we had booked was not being served and that in fact, we were to choose from an a la carte menu. The food was still exceptionally good but the service was a little strange... we...

The building is lovely and the afternoon tea (for the non-vegetarians) was very good. However, at this price things could be better. We were not offered a menu when we arrived, it was just assumed that we wanted the afternoon tea and nothing else (we...

Our ‘full afternoon tea’ was the saddest tea we’d possibly ever seen :-( such a shame as we were so looking forward to it. The picture on the website is nothing like what we were served, which was a roughly sliced quarter of a mini...

At over £30 per head, my expectations were perhaps too high. On a positive note, the food was very tasty, delicious sandwich fillings, tasty delicate cakes, large fresh scones and excellent quality tea. The presentation could be greatly improved however by even a sniff of...

Lock down meals have always seemed a little strange. The team handled everything without a blip. The food was sublime, some great ideas and parings to make it a delicious meal. Have eaten here many times dating back to the Von Essen ownership times and...

Lovely afternoon tea for my birthday 🎂 great surroundings made even better for the sunshine. All the family enjoyed the wide selection of cakes and the gluten free selection was also lovely. Thank you

Great restaurant great food and ever changing menu they have an excellent value lunchtime menu that runs until 7.00pm orders. Today the service was so slow it took over an hour to serve the starter and we gave up waiting for the desert at an hour and 30 minutes. They were very apologetic but it scewed up our plans for the afternoon.

We had a really lovely lunch on Sunday. Service was very good the food was lovely and the staff very friendly. The decor is very tasteful and it’s a very pleasant space to dine in. Very busy in October.
