Cote Brasserie - Cirencester in Cotswold

Sadly we had a very rude waiter who spoiled our Mum’s 80th birthday. Food was average but the evening was ruined by this poor customer service. Fortunately there are far better restaurants in town to enjoy.

Good food, Great branch, wonderful staff and atmosphere!!

Really disappointed. Party of four. First Camembert starter so overcooked it had turned into greasy rubber, second was slightly better. Scallop starter such thin slices (2 scallops) again overcooked. Beef bourginion - 1st attempt mash very dried up & gravy evaporated, 2 cold steaks: 1 was about 25% gristle. Not at all what we have experienced in other branches of Cote. Were we unlucky & this was just an off day?

Even the GF menu did not disappoint....delicious meal.

Sloppy service. Grumpy server took our drinks order but couldn’t raise a smile. Didn’t offer us any water (-I’m sure they used to bring a carafe and glasses on arrival). We asked for some - the maitre de shouted it (not loudly but nevertheless) to our retreating server. Never came. I eventually took a swig from my own water bottle and still water bottle was ‘plonked’ on our table. The server generously advised(at end of meal) he hadn’t charged us for the untouched (non tap) water (we hadnt asked for)… (and couldn’t drink as we never did get any glasses)! The server then looked appalled when I asked for a box to take the rest of my salad home. Since when did Cote stop allowing customers to take food they’ve paid for - away?! In his defence the server was embarrassed that they couldn’t cater for this ‘extreme’ request - and did wrap it up in clingfilm for me which I was grateful for. The food was to the usual standard but all in all it was a thoroughly disappointing experience made more so by the fact that I’ve always loved Cote and went in with my usual expectation of lovely food, charming service and great atmosphere. Not sure what happened to this place - now akin to Pizza Express, ASK or any other chain restaurant.

We too have chosen Cote a number of times over the years as we are local. It used to be a real treat and pretty much guaranteed a good night, fairly pricy but didn't mind as it was always very good. Latest visit to a very busy restuarant was not a treat. Several of the waiting staff had dropsies, at least three glasses, loads of cutlery flying and a bottle of cleaning fluid all over the floor during very busy service. We wanted a relaxed atmosphere and this was far from it. The Beef Bourguinon was literally half the size it used to be with no finesse about it. A tomato and basil salad had no basil but tonnes of parsley ? Overal on our table food was OK, it used to Wow. We have seen a slow change over a number of years to the detriment unfortunately. Not fussed on returning.

Perfect place to eat freshly cooked superb food

After being shown to our table, we were suggested the breakfast complet deal. Two out the three of us had the breakfast deal, one of us had a normal breakfast saandwich and tea. However upon checking the bill today we found we had been over charged by being charged for three breakfast deals. We found the staff rather cold like our plates were. I have since had contact with Cote, which has reached a satisfactory conclusion. Thank you Cote.

Nice ambience. Bustling (Saturday lunchtime) but not unpleasantly so. Food from the fixed menu was OK - the cheeses were excellent. Service OK, but very slow - the delay was at the kitchen end most likely, as serving staff did not seem unduly rushed. Reasonable number of gluten free dishes. Big downer for the disabled - no parking anywhere near, especially blue badge parking.

We had a lovely meal at Cote Cirencester - the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Constantin was a very friendly and professional waiter and we will definitely be back - thank you

Food service and atmosphere all contributed to a great celebration night.

The service from Tam was very good. Pity that the kitchen were not to the same standard! Whilst my steak tartare was ok I didn’t appreciate my egg yolk being broken! The grand reserve Chardonnay was very pleasant. Cheese soufflé was on a par with other venues.

This really is a great branch of Cote. For value it really takes some beating. The food is delicious and the service brilliant . Atmosphere in this buzzy branch is always relaxed . A super dining venue we have enjoyed many times. It never disappoints.

You can always be sure of a good meal at Cote, but what sets this one apart is the excellent service. Without exception every member of staff was friendly, and the service was professional in every way. Highly recommended.

Cote has always been such a go to for us, but oh my what has happened. Waited an hour for the starters and food was mediaoka used to be so fab! Really disappointed. Staff were brilliant as always though.

Considering me and my partner had dinner in Paris 24 hours earlier, this restaurant rivals geniune French cuisine in the heart of France! Absolutely unbelievable fillet steak. I would have uploaded a picture but it was devoured to quickly. The staff are extremely friendly and suggest their personal favourites which adds a great touch. 10/10.

We had been looking forward to celebrating new year but sadly the food on New Year's Eve was disappointing. The crudités with harrisa were an embarrassment and inedible. The carrots were not peeled or sliced and looked dried up and shrivelled. The chicken liver parfait pastry was served cold when it should be hot. The chicken was dry and served without any sauce. We returned two Eton Mess deserts because they were served without any cream or fruit. Come on Cote Brasserie stop insulting your customers. It may have been New Year's Eve but for £49 per head your loyal clients deserve better. When I mentioned the poor standard of food to the waiter there was no resolution. I have to say that the service was good and the atmosphere was OK.

Absolutely delicious food made with French ingredients delivered with a smile from the friendly and efficient servers. Highly recommend the fantastic cassoulet with Toulouse sausage. Two thumbs up!

A great visit to this restaurant as usual the food was great and service excellent. So nice to have an establishment that properly caters for a gluten free diet. Keep up the good work we will be back again soon.

Have been to Cote on many occasion, it's just gotten worse each time, accumulating in the worst time I've had there, and the last. Sadly. Staff made us feel welcome at the start, however it went downhill from there. What was once a complimentary bottle of water for the table (maybe that was too long ago and could be on me) was now a chargeable item, but we weren't notified beforehand, again, possibly my mistake. The Charcuterie board arrived, all the meats were stuck together, butter hidden underneath all including the vegetables. 2/4 plates of main food arrived cold, steaks cooked incorrectly, and missing sides that when brought up, arrived so long after the food had been eaten- making it pointless. When we managed to catch a waiters attention to mention the cold food, it was offered to be redone, when half of the table had already finished most of their food- no one wanted to wait another 30-40 minutes for it to be redone, on a weekday, not too busy evening. Chipped glasses, and although a couple drinks were comped, the bill still came at shy £200 for cold food that the wait staff didn't really care about.

Calamari was cold, Charcuterie was messy and stuck together, stale bread. 3 of 4 mains were cold, steaks fatty and even the Med Well was cold to the touch. Charged for drinks we didn't even have and not told the water for the table would be over a fiver for a bottle. Cote has gone down hill, won't return, save your money and go somewhere independent

Went for a special Birthday Dinner .Sides arrived after one of the meals was nearly eaten. My steak was cold and I was not going to bother waiting for it to be replaced so I only ate two pieces of it and it really wasn’t very “ Delux” one of the starters wasn’t great either. after looking at my receipt today I’ve noticed I was charged for two glasses of wine we never even had . And charged service charge which I thought we would of been asked about first . Would never go back .

I went in for a late breakfast, just on time before they started the lunch service. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Although the place was quiet, it had a nice atmosphere, nice decor and comfortable seats. The food was lovely and there was plenty of it. Highly recommend evwn if only for the lovely staff. 😍

Busy on a Friday night but we're given a quieter table on request. Waiters v busy but we were attended reasonably promptly. Three of the 4 meals were good but the Breton Style Fish Stew was very dry and hardly warranted the term stew. A replacement was offered and accepted. This was a little more 'stewy' and tasted good but mussel heavy and still fairly dry for a stew. We were advised that there was a new recipe and the dish/bowl was now shallower that when we had previously eaten it. The staff were good and very polite. Fair value for money.

Service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive, and recommendation for main course was perfect. French onion soup was not what I expected/hoped for - cheesy toast was served on the side instead of baked on top of the soup, which seemed microwaved. The sous vide duck was incredible. The creme brulee dessert was passable, but again lacked the "I've been freshly made today" fresh, creamy, crunchy-caramel-topped heaven that it can be. I'm glad I tried one of Cote's chain of French-style restaurants, however, for the price, next time I would find a genuine, independent French establishment.

I came with my wife and we enjoy the tasty food, good wine and the good staff that recomended and helped us make the best choices and combination of tastes

Fabulous lunch here. I had a tuna nicoise salad and my husband had the fish stew. Lovely fresh tuna and a generous portion size. Service excellent and staff very friendly. Highly recommend.

Food, wine, speed of service & cleanliness of restaurant overall made for a great experience.

Have been to Cote quite a few times and always enjoyed the food. This time, however, it seems that there has been alot of cost cutting going on. The mains are on tiny plates ( a side plate) - I had chicken and a few tiny fried potatoes - nothing else! A friend's pudding was described as banana based. The slice of banana was miniscule! The prices have certainly not gone down.

I organised a celebratory meal for my work team, we were welcomed and attended to so warmly. The food was fantastic, but it was the atmosphere that I would come back for again and again. We had a 3 course meal, a few glasses of wine and everything was perfect. We didn't feel rushed, and we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves.

The best eatery in Cirencester, so good I can't believe it's a chain. Food cooked to perfection, great drinks selection. Brilliant staff.

Great restaurant great food and ever changing menu they have an excellent value lunchtime menu that runs until 7.00pm orders. Today the service was so slow it took over an hour to serve the starter and we gave up waiting for the desert at an hour and 30 minutes. They were very apologetic but it scewed up our plans for the afternoon.

Food and drink on point , service excellent but don't take cash ! Which was a bit embarrassing and a hassle when I came to pay .

Worst meal I've had in a very long time Really poor quality ingredients. Some of it inedible Very disappointed. Decor was beautiful but the restaurant was empty which should have been our first clue. Steak wasn't aged, unchewable and badly cooked. Dauphinoise potatoes were left by the other diner on our table as they had no flavour or texture. Charcuterie started consisted of two small pieces of prosciutto and a piece of toast. Won't return.

I am usually very laid back with everything. I visited this restaurant on Sunday with my partner . The lad that served us was a nice lad and felt he was under some pressure. The starter (baguette) took 35 mins to arrive. And was stale. My partners French onion soup was cold. Then my ribeye steak was poor/ cold and could barely manage to chew through it. Really disappointed especially as we paid around £80’for this meal.

The food is best in town. Atmosphere and service are exceptional. Igor was very knowledgeable and well detailed about every menu item! We returned next day and it was great again!

I love this restaurant but my wife and I both thought that something was missing from the Beef bourguignon sauce. Not the usual rich complex flavours.

We were well looked after from start to finish by our waitress. She gave excellent recommendations and couldn't do enough to ensure we had a lovely time. The food was amazing as always, and the team are just brilliant every time we visit. There is a reason we come back so often.

Cote never disappoints but this is a particularly brilliant branch. Its large size defies belief considering its small frontage but nonetheless the service is great and the food excellent. It’s very good value, always reliable and served by super staff. What’s more they have a small number of tables inside where you can eat with your dog. What a blessing. We will be back soon.

There are lots of great places in and near Cirencester to dine - cote isn't one of them. The service was slow, the prices high, and the portions small. To be fair, the orange duck was tasty, which redeems an extra one star out of my original intention to leave 1/5 stars. I will not be back, and I recommend that anyone else looks elsewhere for a quality meal.

Great food, very helpful and pleasant staff with a fantastic atmosphere.

Visited a few times over the last year, but on our last visit, we found that the standard seemed to have dropped on the food, and flavours were just not there. Which was a shame.

I ordered the sirloin steak and it was cooked perfectly. The greens were fresh and crispy. The wine and dessert were wonderful.

Always made to feel special when visiting Cote. Staff are smart and attentive.

Food was really disappointing. The staff were great & the atmosphere was lovely. My girlfriend ordered the Tuna Niçoise & asked for the Tuna steak to be cooked well done. Sadly it came out rare, so this had to be sent back only to have the same piece of steak re warmed. I ordered the chicken dish which was OK. But the fries were very tasteless & most definitely frozen. I wouldn’t return.

Ribeye steak cold , and then a replacement took 30 minutes, absolutely shocking. The reaction of the staff was couldn’t care less

Lovely lunch for three adults, mixture of set price menu and other options. Service was fast and quality of food exactly as we have experienced in other Cote restaurants. Value for money was in my opinion excellent. Staff were lovely and attentive. Thank you.

We had a very enjoyable meal. The French beer and wine was also very pleasant and prices were acceptable. Staff were great. Also please note Cote is dog friendly

French onion soup was thick brown porridge. Scallops sliced thinly dried out and cold , possibly left on the pass. Ribeye was tastless, shame as its a beautiful cut. Bellypork was small with a very heavy fat content not were nice. The coffee was like dishwater had to get another shot and the brandy was served in a small square edged glass, extremely disappointing. I was there with my family and a guest so didn't feel comfortable mentioning this on the night.

Staff amazing , food delicious, very well presented & hot. Went for partner 65th birthday & they brought him a birthday pudding , such a surprise for him 😊. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant too .

We had the fixed price menu, my starter was a salad which arrived looking very unappetising, limp aged lettuce leaves etc. The sea bass to follow was fine but the fried potatoes & the courgettes weren’t cooked properly & looked old. A very disappointing lunch. The best part was the ice cream. My partners food was fine. We’ve eaten in various Cotes & had lovely food. This was very disappointing

It was disappointing that when I request oat milk or any other plant based milk, I was informed that they don't offer that kind of milk. We ordered the offer of hot breakfast that it was ok and included coffee, juice and the plate. However, when we requested the bill, they "decided" to charge us per item. We obviously challenge this and they change this with a "You want to be charged as per the offer price". We thought that this was poor customer service and no willing to come back

Ironically, the best food I have had in England is French... Great food at a reasonable price.

Some lovely vegan options and service was amazing and friendly. Mushroom bourguignon was amazing and very recommended. They have outside seating that catches the sun nicely.

Amazing experience as usual! So attentative and cautious of me being pregnant as well! Showed us to the coolest part of the room and brought us complimentary drinks for our anniversary!

We have visited the Cirencester restaurant before and always had a pleasant meal. On this occasion we had a lovely birthday dinner with family. I use a wheelchair so it was nice that the staff was on hand to help without fuss. Thank you to the staff at Cote Cirencester!

Delicious meal and excellent service, with a lovely decor and atmosphere. The Baked Ratatouille was absolutely stunning.

Visited last night. Very nice ambience and decor and friendly staff. Had the special offer as new to the group with complimentary sparkling wine which was beautiful. I ordered the pork belly which was cooked very well as were the delphinouse potatoes. My wife ordered the beef bourgogne. Sadly it was inedible as it was full of sinew and gristle. We spoke to the head waiter and he was extremely apologetic and immediately offered a new dish. The second one she had was perfect. We shared a dessert which was very nice. All in all withntwo extra drinks ordered and bill of £68 is very good. However I object to being given a bill with a service charge already added. We always tip if the service was good, which it was on this occasion. However to add it to the bill assumes we are satisfied which is presumptious to say the least. I woukd definately return again

Absolutely wonderful experience at this côte restaurant in Cirencester. The people who served us were cheerful, polite and very helpful. The meals we ordered were first class and thoroughly enjoyed by both of us ! If I had to be picky, I would comment that the sauces to go with the steaks were miniscule and although delicious were far too small for a decent serving. Apart from that, the place, the food, the service and ambience were top notch and not extortionate in price too... I would highly recommend.

We dropped in for a late lunch and we were looking forward to it as it was so good on our last visit. It was pretty quiet but we were shown to a table and food and drinks orders taken Our drinks arrived fairly quickly but we waited for at least 45 mins before I asked where our food was as by then the tea was cold. Our food then came my salmon dish was dry the rocket wilting and the bernaise sauce gloopy and salmon void of flavour To be fair when I complained the dish was taken quickly off my bill The place was dull and had lost its spark - pity as the staff were friendly enough

Top place, value for money, though wine and cocktails make up half the bill. Check service charge. You do not need to pay it, though it helps if you go there a few times a month... improves experience. Last time, though, the waiter moved too quickly, which was a surprise, and dropped three whitebait on the floor.... Will return as other Cirencester eateries try too hard and are not that good as food and service aren't really all that good. TTFN

Wouldn't return, service was shocking. Asked 3x for a drink with 1 of our main meals yet didn't receive it. Table of 6 pre booked ages in advance. Was other large tables Inc one of 13 on a busy sat night but totally understaffed front of house . Mains came quickly after starters that our plated hadn't been cleared and utensils not replaced. Atmosphere was loud and rowdy not really what you want when you go for a nice meal.

The new fixed price menu was extremely good even better than the previous one and it represents excellent value for money. The service which accompanied the meal was also faultless.

Absolutely excellent food and service, a group of 4 had an amazing 3 course meal including scallops, steak, pork belly and braised cheek bourguignon, I cannot fault any of the food, the service was also excellent.

Great meal, lovely atmosphere. Service standards had dropped since last visit, still friendly just a bit slower, and less on it!! Portions are also smaller but that's not a bad thing!

The service is always great and Rich our server was superb. Charismatic and attentive without being intrusive. I’ve worked in hospitality for nearly 20 years and I strive to get my team to his level.

We had a great dinner here on our travels trough Cotswolds. Everything tasted great, including the wine. It was an enjoyable evening.

Lovely ambience and good food choices at reasonable prices but they're a bit stingy with the sourdough 'slivers' served with pâté and crab starters and the cheese

A chain restaurant with tasty food and lovely environment. Like the Pan-fired Sea bass and cresp. Will come back when visit to Cirencester next time.

Didnt have high hopes as this is chain restaurant, however we had a superb meal and the food really is first class, I couldnt fault it. We will visit again.

A lovely place for a family meal. Food was impressive - it might be a chain, but it had an authentic French feel, souffle served properly hot, but not greasy. Cheese plate for dessert good selection and ample portion. Fish stew fresh and hot. Plenty of steak options. Nice cocktails including nonalcoholic options. Service attentive but not intrusive. I would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful dinner here - tried 6-7 dishes, all was very delicious, i think it’s one of the best eateries in this area

Lovely dinner, everything perfect.

Party of 10 attended for a birthday lunch. We only ordered mains, no starters. Waited over 45 minutes for them to come out. 3 breakfasts came out first, almost 5 minutes later the other mains came out, meaning the 3 people who had their food first were sat waiting whilst it went cold. I ordered a rib eye steak and whilst it was tasty, I ordered it very rare. What i was served was medium. However, I was too hungry to ask them to change it, so just ate it. Nobody checked to see if our food was okay after it was served to us. After our mains, they gave us the desert menus. Again, nobody came to check if we wanted to order anything. Thankfully nobody did. They did have a lovely chap playing the saxophone, which was nice. Would not recommend Cote Cirencester.

It's a lovely place to eat with friends. Unhurried service, great atmosphere, good food and great value for money.
