La Planchette in Windsor and Maidenhead

I was looking for yet another English pub during my travels to the UK. And went to two... that were way too crowded. So on the off-chance that it was not as crowded, I tracked this place down. Best decision I ever made! The hostesses were fantastic, the tiny little place is charming, the Brie was amazing, and the wine was superb. Highly recommend. It was a nice break from all the fish and chips and beer. :-)

Felt like I was back in France. The owners and servers are all French and wow wow wow, the food is delectable. You can tell they source their ingredients from the best of the best. My partner and I ordered the Charcuterie board for 2 with cheeses, meats, bread, pate, the lot! It is absolutely worth every penny and more importantly every bite. The servers take you through the ingredients and we were even taught what order to eat them in to get the most out of their flavours and how to cut the cheeses because my partner and I are not quite professionals. Wine ? Well I think you can guess. Faultless! Thank you La Planchette for the amazing food and wine!

My daughter had spotted this little place a few weeks ago while driving past and wanted to give it a try for a birthday treat. We visited on Saturday afternoon and had the most wonderful couple of hours. The owner could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The decor was so authentic and lovely and it almost felt like we were abroad on holiday. We had two of the platter boards and some extras and everything was super tasty with great service. Wine was also wonderful, and as the owner said - it was organic so no hangover the next day! Many thanks! We will definitely be back 😀

Another fabulous evening at La Planchette!!! Monique and Elizabeth are just a joy, excellent food, I throughly recommend the cheese platter!!! Really beautiful wine too!! It feels like you're on holiday and have found a secret gem!!!

Our third visit in the last 6 months and putting this establishment on our happy list. So there were 2 adults and one 12 year old. My wife booked ahead for lunch/early afternoon. We had a choice of a table inside or in the courtyard, and we opted for the courtyard. Started off with their rum punch cocktail that I had seen on their Facebook post earlier in the week - and boy, that's a REAL DELIGHT. Not a premix syrup or your regular all-inclusive holiday drink. It was later pointed out that the cloves and spices infuse for 24 hours to make this drink. The food was fantastic (we mainly had mixed charcuterie). Sadly, they had run out of the duck. Beautifully explained to us. Accompanied with their house rose wine, which the owner personally selects. Nothing was too much trouble. We asked for a few more crackers, and they happily obliged. We were surrounded by local regulars who you can just tell have become friends with the owners. All finished off the afternoon with a glass of their house champagne, which tasted better than our favourite Veuve-Clicquot. Would I recommend - Yes Would I go again - Yes

Amazing, the wine choice was perfect, the food had so much flavour, best place we have been a long time. You can tell the love and passion in everything they sell. So good we came back the following day. Thank you for the wonderful service Monique and Elizabeth

This is a little gem of a place. My partner and I stumbled across it by chance as we were spending an afternoon in Windsor from London. The charcuterie was delicious and combined with the matching recommended wines my mouth was dancing with delight. Not to be rushed but savoured with every mouthful. Ambiance was also great, the decor cosy and most of all the service was impeccable. Monique and Elizabeth were so accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. In summary, the perfect stop for a break in Windsor.

Our home from home since this little gem of a wine bar first opened and we never loose that sparkle of visiting for our 'after work' drink or our French 'Sunday lunch' of amazing cheese & charcuterie with lovingly sourced wines to match! Lizzy & Monique, thank you so much!!!

What a fantastic find, lovely glass of Cremant to go with the Jambon Brie and rocket sandwich and Owners choice to go with the beautiful prawn sandwich for my partner. The lady owner was very friendly and sandwiches were amazing with lovely seeded bread. Will be back

We called in after walking round Windsor on a dreary Sunday afternoon. Our spirits were immediately lifted by the warm welcome we received. We had the opportunity to talked about the wines on offer and to try the recommendations. The wines were excellent and very good value for money. Unfortunately, La Planchette is closed on Monday & Tuesday, otherwise we would definitely have returned before returning home. However, we will go back on our next visit to Windsor. Thank you Monique and Elizabeth for brightening up our day, we look forward to returning.

Fabulous food and great choice of wines with a friendly atmosphere. This is a delightful corner of France, accessible without travel hassle. The staff were superb. Definitely to be recommended.

A group of 10 friends booked a table for a Christmas get-together. From the moment you enter, you're felt most welcomed by Monique and her team. We had a number of sharing boards to which all the meats and cheeses were explained and the best order to enjoy them in. It's clear that Monique is passionate about the quality of the product offered and you feel that she wouldn't give you anything less than she would eat or give her guests at home. We all had an excellent evening, topped off with some group French speaking lessons. Would I recommend - Yes. Would I go again - Yes.

Ive lived in windsor for over 33 years and La Planchette is such a welcome addition to my hometown. Delightful owners that know everything about the wine they sell. Such a warm welcome. Best vino in town too.

What a fantastic place! A beautiful little courtyard tucked away and just perfect for a relaxing lunch or inside for those not so sunny days. The cheese selection was fantastic, nicely presented, and each recommended by the host. I had the French salad, and it was scrumptious. Wines served by glass, carafe, or bottle. Very reasonably priced and again explained well, and a plus...tasters offered to make a choice. The staff & owner were super friendly. We will most definitely be back. Please do come and find this tucked away gem on your next visit to Windsor.

What a delightful find! The selection of cheeses and meats is beyond wonderful. As for the pate, it was the best I’ve ever tasted! The staff are lovely, the wines are superb, and the prices are extremely reasonable. Most certainly worth a visit.
