I was looking to eat a pizza prior to a cinema visit in Leicester Square and thought I’d wander round Soho and just pick somewhere on impulse. La Pietra seemed quite a smart place. The pizza diavola (spicy sausage and gorgonzola) was really tasty and perfectly cooked. The tiramisu was competent if a little less sweet than I prefer. It came in a stoppered glass jar, which I have never seen before. I asked for tap water to drink which they gave me with no problem. The bill including service was £17.77, not bad for that part of town and as I said I really enjoyed the food. La Pietra is a full restaurant too and there is another one in Spitalfields which I might try some time.

I walked past and I liked the environment, so, I've decided have a cocktail since they offer complimentary food as well with any cocktail. I ordered a 'Dry Martini' with Gin and olive. I got a glass of vermouth (Dry Martini brand) and a huge portion of olives (luckily I didn't get a gin too). When I said politely to the waitress what I asked for she said that they don't do something like this, although it's in their menu as 'Gin/Vodka Martini'. When I pointed out the drink in the menu she was rude and said that I should have asked her for a gin martini and she is not a bar tender to know what a dry martini is. After all she made me a gin martini which was a double measure of gin and a measure of vermouth!! Totally disappointed. Additionally, I didn't get any complementary food as the gin martini is not a cocktail!!

We booked for dinner on Valentine's Day. Easy to get in and now we know why. The quality of the food was poor. We were placed in a windowless downstairs area that was poorly decorated and dingy. With all the restaurants in Soho you would want to walk past this one and try another. The other ratings are misleading in our view and we used those to choose this restaurant. Be warned!

3.5/5 stars. We visited on a quiet December evening when there was only one other couple in the restaurant. For most of the evening, we had a lovely time. There were a couple of mistakes that had no real impact on our enjoyment (the wrong starter brought out, a side order had to be returned as it was cold) but these things were rectified quickly with a smile so we weren't upset. The food was delicious and would get 5 stars every time, and the service was good too, but the ending was ruined slightly when a couple of kitchen staff emerged from behind the scenes and proceeded to smoke right outside the glass back door (and I mean, leaning on the door). The smoke came into the restaurant so that we could both smell and taste it, so we left quicker than we would have liked and with a poor parting impression, which is a shame. If only the staff could have taken a few steps away from the door it would have been almost perfect

Went to London for the day on a theatre trip and having researched restaurants in the area, came across La Pietra Soho. It had good reviews and rightly so. There was a good selection of dishes, I chose the spaghetti with seafood - it was a nice sized portion, not excessive, and cooked to perfection. Wasn't intending to have a dessert but having seen the menu, chose the chocolate soufflé and it was gorgeous. The waitress was very friendly and efficient and the chef came to the table to chat. A lovely relaxed end to a long day!

Wer in Soho oder London Essen gehen will, muss hierher!!!

Had the most amazing meal! The staff were very welcoming and attentive. A nice touch was the chef came to our table to go through the menu and was quite happy to adjust or change. The staff were so friendly, but towards the end of the meal they were suddenly rushed of their feet due to an influx of people. We did not quite get the same level of service but this did not in any way ruin our meal as I think in a small city restaurant you have to expect this sometimes. I certainly would recommend & return.

I had been to this restaurant a few months ago and thought the food and service was of a high standard so promised to visit again. So I invited my family and friends along to celebrate my birthday here. Food and service appeared to be good until we finished our meal and were asked how our food was. One of my guests commented that the fries that were ordered tasted a little oily and fishy. The waitress asked if she was serious and continued to serve us with a miserable/stoppy attitiude. This continued even when she came to bring out the birthday cake and candles that were bought for me at which point she just put the cake on the table and walked off without getting any plates on which to serve the cake. At this point one of my guests went to complain to her about her miserable service. In spite of this, the chef was extremely friendly and accommodated our needs when the waitress disappeared after our complaints. The food was lovely and appreciated that he took the time to take over when necessary. I would recommend this restaurant as the food is amazing, but be warned about moody service!

several of us booked this restaurant based on the reviews here but, our experience could not have been more different. after some indifferent starters it was nearly 2 hours from being seated until our mains arrived, don't get me wrong as I am all for an evening out. however we had to ask when the food was coming out as it was so slow and there were only 2 other people in the restaurant on a Saturday night! never a good sign but, after an evening here so obvious why it is not full. the pasta dishes were only luke warm, the fillet steaks like lumps of leather and we were not asked how we liked them cooked or that no vegetables were included, the fish dish was not liked either. suffice to say that with waiting so long for the food, extra drinks had to be ordered-maybe this slow service is done on purpose. we gave the desserts a miss as breakfast was fast approaching! whatever happened to the chef on this night-he must have gone awol. this is the first time I have said this and it is, in Soho and Covent garden having so many restaurants to choose, this is one to walk past.

We have been coming to London regularly every Monday for the last 10years. It is our treat and we become 'tourist' in our own city and we leave suburbia behind. Every week we lunch at different restaurants. We are so fortunate and spoilt to have such an endless choice. Being a chef I mix business with pleasure and as always bring back to my restaurant ideas etc. I pick up. It's been quite rare that we have found a restaurant that we have wanted to rush back to. La Pietra Soho is the exception. We keep going back. The quality of good is very good, the chef Alex is very good at his job, it is evident that he cooks with passion, which is something that so many 'chefs' lack. He knows how to produce fresh food full of flavour. Elena the waitress is friendly and professional. Well done La Pietra.

My old college friends and I meet each year in London and have done so for the past 40 years. We meet for coffee and then wander around looking for a restaurant for lunch. On Friday we came across La Pietra. There was a special lunch deal of any pasta, pizza or salad with a glass of wine for £9.90.The staff were very friendly and the waiter also did the cooking.Three of us had a crab ravioli which was lovely. My friend had cannelloni which she said was delicious and the 5th member of our party who is vegetarian had a mushroom pasta which was also very good. The house wine was very tasty. We went on to have gorgeous desserts (2 courses for £12.95). The waiter said he had made the tiramisu which was very good and came in a kilner jar and also the profiteroles. The surprising thing was we were the only people in the restaurant! At 2.40 when we said we were thinking of having a coffee they said they close at 2.30 so we felt we should go. However they had not rushed us or given us the impression that they wanted us to leave so they could close.

The food was excellent, freshly cooked with delicious ingredients. I had the wild boar cannelloni, which was very unusual and delicious, my partner had clams and fresh pasta, also delightful, the seafood rissoto, cooked while we enjoyed a glass of very good house white wine. This restaurant is rather small, quite a nice location for a friends catch up sort of atmosphere. I visited here for a friends birthday with friends that I hadn't met in 2 years so the setting was perfect. This restaurant was pre reserved for a Saturday evening. On arrival we were given the menu, we ordered drinks which we were served right away. After about 30 minutes, we were served very cold appetisers (which we didn't order) such as cold cheese and mushrooms, with salami slices and other small meat pieces. I was a vegetarian so could only have cheese and mushroom. After another 45 minutes of waiting, one of the attendees came over and said their gas systems were not working so they didn't know if they could cook our food, we were told to wait and they will let us know if it would be possible. This meeting was for a friend's birthday and it had already passed 8.30pm (we had been there for over 1hr 45mins- only served cold appetisers and drinks), we were past starving point and quite disappointed to say the least, we had a night out planned after too so we asked the waiter and manager if we could get the bill and leave. Considering this bad service, the only thing they discounted on their bill was service charge which I wouldn't have paid anyway as now we had to pick another restaurant in Soho on a Saturday night which meant another hour wait. So I will happily say I will not be returning to this restaurant again. Poor Service and poor compensation.

Cold meats, cheese, great bread, and all free. Polished off the first plates and were offered more. But it was all so delicious, we forced ourselves to eat more. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by very friendly, smiley staff. We were seated downstairs which was particularly wonderful as we got chance to experience Alex the chef working in the kitchen. The downstairs was very intimate and the lighting was perfectly dim creating a relaxed ambience. The kitchen was open plan with room for us to see Alex creating in the kitchen. The experience, the smells and drama of this was second to none. If you enjoy and appreciate great food and also enjoy cooking yourself you will find this a fantastic experience. My father and I both share a love of food and we asked the waitress what were the recommended dishes. Alex came out to talk us through what he recommended. Even bringing out fresh mussels for us to smell and they honestly were fantastic. The wild boar cannelloni was incredibly tasty, this came to the table piping hot. A truly rustic dish I have never had a pasta dish like it. We felt very comfortable and didn't feel at all rushed at any point of the evening,I almost don't want to tell people about this place as I don't want it to lose any of the charm it has, it really is a hidden GEM.We had a merry night and ended up singing and dancing as it was my Fathers birthday needless to say we had a lot of fun! Character, real people with talent and passion.Thank you La Pietra for a fantastic evening

This intimate, tasteful, high quality and medium price restaurant and wine bar in a quiet, tucked-away corner of Soho (Peter Street, off Wardour Street) is my discovery of the year, and well worth the search. Andrew, at front of house, provides a warm personal welcome and mixes a unique original selection of cocktails. Those cocktails! Colourful, fruity, with hidden alcoholic power ... You just long to try each one in turn. The food, created by the talented Chef Alex, is excellent and authentically Italian: antipasti, pastas, fish, succulent lamb, and desserts to die for. Decor: a marble bar, rustic wood and candles give intimacy to the atmosphere. A huge mural of Pompeii makes you feel you're in Italy. Go on, treat yourself .... You'll pay no more than you would in a chain, and get a far superior experience.

This is just the BEST. It's my (and my whole office's) go to place to take people in Soho. The most relaxed atmosphere in a really inviting bar. The staff are extremely friendly, personable and attentive. The drinks are great and the aperitivos (everything from fresh mozzerella, olives, cured meats, freshly baked garlic bread) that are always on offer with your after work cocktail, give La Pietra a different and more welcoming appeal.Recommend it for drinks and a snack or an evening meal and bottle of wine :)

I love this place! If you are looking for an authentic Italian bar and restaurant then please visit here. The cocktails are delicious, and the food divine...if you come between 6 and 7.30 you can experience the traditional Italian tradition of antipasti with your drinks, as long as you buy a cocktail (at happy hour prices :) ) you are free to graze the selection of cheese, cured meats and Italian breads to your hearts content, the perfect after work treat! I have also eaten in the restaurant and it is well worth the visit for this alone, brilliant staff, food, drink and atmosphere!

THE hidden gem of soho! These days Soho is so full of chains and places with no atmosphere/personality (majoring in queues and painfully high prices for adequate food) it was a pleasure to find somewhere with So much charm.La pietra offers a wonderful atmosphere alongside yummy (cheap) cocktails with which you have FREE antipasti until 7pm. The cocktails really are great! On top of this the dinner menu is great and you can accompany with bottle of wine for just £14 without skimping of quality!Really teally worth a visit for anyone working in or visiting the area that wants genuinely friendly service and great food/drink.

Soho changes on a practically daily basis, partly because it's full of little dives in hidden corners. La Pietra (this is their second branch) is a newcomer, and it's very welcome. It's cosy (i.e. occasionally a bit of a squeeze) but manages to pull off suiting most informal occasions, from raucous friends to something more business-y.I recommend making this your first stop as part of a longer night - go at 6.30pm and catch their Aperitivo (which is free, generous, and full of genuine Italian treats rather than some of the tourist rubbish meted out even in Italy). If you stay all night, it'll be fun; if you move on, you'll have had a great start to an evening. Oh, and for the few of us who are still dedicated smokers, there's a bijou, hidden outside area.Buzzy, social, relaxed and good value. Highly recommended.

My partner and I visited this restaurant for dinner this evening, using a voucher gifted to us at Christmas. Staff very friendly, attentive to customers, but let you get on with your meal which is a very nice change. Very tasty food - especially the rosemary focaccia and pork shins. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and the people sat at the bar seemed to be having a good time on the cocktails during happy hour. Overall, a lovely evening and thoroughly recommended. We will be back!

We came across this restaurant via Groupon so wasn't expecting to be overwhelmed. Well we have now been back twice always at lunchtime and always on a Monday. The pizzas are probably the best we have had in London and then pasta dishes are very tasty too. Very reasonably priced. Unfortunately lacking in atmosphere as we are generally lone eaters.. But I can recommend La Pietra as authentic Italian cuisine.

Such interesting and diverse appetizers are rare. The atmosphere is cool and friendly. Visiting the La Pietra restaurant made me go to La Pietra Soho as well. Different place, same hospitality, different concept. You will find very good coffee, and it is a cosy and homely venue.

I was goggling on internet, looking for a nice place where have a different Happy hour. At the end, I found an Italian restaurant to Soho, La pietra, whit a very curios concept, different to the others traditional Italian restaurant, so I decided to go and have a look. I was really surprise to know about the price of the happy hour, just 6.50£, and more surprise to find a very good and full buffet, with some news and curios plates, but not just this, I love this place because it was elegant, but cozy, curiously redefined and warm. I think not only to go back to have an other Happy hour, but probably to have a party with my family and friends.

We were shopping in London & really wanted pizza/pasta for Lunch. We walked from Carnaby Street to Soho & saw all the normal big chain Italian restaurants which didn't appeal to us. Then as we came to a junction i noticed a billboard outside saying "any pizza, pasta or salad & a glass of wine for £9.90". I thought let's have a look.I am so pleased we chose this little restaurant, the food was amazing and the staff really friendly.I would definitely recommend this Authentic Italian to anyone.

This restaurant moved from the ground floor to the first floor to accommodate renovations. It’s now in a windowless room that, while nicely decorated, is quite claustrophobic and can get loud when it’s crowded. The restaurant also seems understaffed. While everyone is friendly and nice, the staff seem overwhelmed. You have to ask for things several times before it gets done, and it took a very long time for someone to come take my order. Overall, not a seamless experience and not something I would expect from the Four Seasons.

This restaurant we have been coming for years now Bit disappointed that the bruschetta was taken off the menu Food was cooked lovely but the potions have got smaller which was a bit of disappointing and prices have increased which is expected. Staff are lovely especially the two lovely ladies.
