La Marina in North Somerset

Amazing food! The early bird menu was just £19.95 for 3 courses! The food was absolutely delicious, big portions, super tasty and obviously homemade. Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough….. Bellisimo!! 😘 Gracie millae!

A fantastic little Italian restaurant with easily the best food in Portishead. The staff are friendly, funny and welcoming and ensure every experience is the best it can be. It’s also In a great location by the dock gates within the Marina and on a summers day they open the by-folding doors which adds even more to the atmosphere.

My family and I went here for lunch to celebrate my big birthday in December '24. From the first point of contact to the time we left, I felt that we were all in good hands (even through a few changes in numbers!). Every single member of my family has said that they will return and how much they enjoyed the ambience and freshly cooked food. Every single member of the team that we met was friendly and approachable, with excellent service throughout. Tony and Peppe, your staff are a real credit to you! Thank you very much.

We went on recommendation for my daughter’s 21st and had a fabulous evening. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming and the food was faultless. We had a mixture of pizzas, seafood platter and Al Carte menu and everything was delicious. A lovely atmosphere and we will definitely be returning.

Visited La Marina 5/1/25,after reading some good reviews.Its either people not knowing much about Italian food or just being kind.Very limited menu,Pollo Roma had 90% of the recipe missing and was totally taste less served in a taste less sauce no pancetta wrapped asparagus no onions or belly pepper..Very disappointed...

Very good lunch, had the chicken mushroom sauce, and pork belly. Excellent sauces, and starters also very nice. Great little location at the end of the marina.

Fillet steak was fantastic, pork belly was superb - no fat and just melted in the mouth. Cocktails were lovely and service was wonderful. A++

Really lovely location and it’s such a sweetness in a night sky! Friendly staff and great service. The pasta was very nice with a lovely sauce. The lamb shank was beautifully prepared with a generous portion of veg. The only shame is that the lamb tasted like it had stayed in the freezer for 2 years.

Every time we come back there we expect more of the same, however we never get more of the same, we just keep getting better and better! We were served this time by the delightful Lowri which we like because she always has time for us and always has a smile on her face. We have been as a couple, we have dined there with family, we have been there with friends and every time we leave with a smile on our faces and a feeling of money and time well spent. We know we can be a tough crowd, we have been lucky enough to go to a lot of places and see a lot of the world. This often means that we expect more than sometimes perhaps we should. None of that matters in a place like La Marina where the food is always great the wine is always just right for the food and the service comes from the likes of Lowri. Lowri who is a long standing member of the team with the owner and manager always look after us so well. They fitted us in and even rang us to suggest moving our table inside when the weather report changed at short notice so that we didn't miss out. When restaurants and staff go the extra mile like that, they are worth going the extra mile to. If you are in Portishead be it as a resident or a fleeting visit, make the time and don't miss out on a fantastic dining experience and smile with them as they always give service with a smile.

lovely place for lunch/dinner, we had a large table and the food and service was perfect, really friendly & professional. I've been to La Marina a few times and the food is always so yummy and they have good options for carnivores, veggies and vegans (inc vegan cheese for pizzas if req) and such a pretty relaxing spot overlooking the water.

Lovely evening for my wife's birthday. Great atmosphere, great food for the price point. Easy but very tasty pasta to more extravagant steak dishes. For a special lovely meal in great surroundings and service, you won't be disappointed.

Booked a table at very short notice as we just happened to be in the area.the staff were really accommodating & helpful,the food was outstanding and great value for money. Before today I'd never even heard of the place,but so glad I found it on a Google search. Would definitely return & reccomend to friends & family

4 of us dined on a Tuesday night, all had 3 course set menu (before 7pm), which was great value for money (especially spicy meatballs for starter, pork for main and tiramisu for pudding), good service and atmosphere was nice, considering it was mostly empty on a chilly October night. Always enjoy the varied menu, the outlook is beautiful come rain or shine, staff are friendly, prices reasonable only downside for this non driver is 30minute walk from nearest bus stop 😊

SEAFOOD STICKS DO NOT PASS FOR CRAB STATED ON THE MENU!!!!!! EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED with the seafood pasta dish that states crab and when the dish arrived it had no crab in just 4 prawns as I asked for no mussels. So I sent it back and when the same plate of food returned (with the prawns that I had already de-shelled on) returned with 1 possibly 2 shredded up seafood sticks hidden under the pasta (Yes seafood sticks which still had the dyed red bit on!!!) in a bland dish of pasta with a sauce that was crushed tinned tomatoes with a bit of garlic!!! When I politely complained to the waiter he arrogantly argued that it was definitely crab and that it’s what they’re supplier had sent and another waiter said it was because I had asked for the dish without mussels and got a fresh sauce. So which excuse was it??? My reply was “ I work in the food industry and it’s like ordering a steak and getting a burger, this is processed food not crab meat and it’s not acceptable” He didn’t care and gave no apologies, alternative option of a meal etc. So I asked to speak to the manager who was straight away very lovely and apologetic and took the price of the meal off the bill. I will not return just because of the ATTITUDE the waiter gave and how he insulted my intelligence by insisting seafood sticks is crab!!!

We arrived on Friday evening without a booking. We were shown quickly to a table in what was a busy restaurant. Drinks orders taken. And when the bottle of house white arrived the dinner order was taken. All very slick and pleasant with an aura of efficiency. The dinner was tasty and well presented and prepared. This place a great place for a dinner out and is a bit of a gem. £80 for the two fo use with a bottle of wine. We will back.

Delicious impromptu meal. Tasty and well presented. Very accommodating for a vegetarian. Best Aperol Spritz since Siena!! We'll be happy to recommend.

What a fantastic little restaurant we stumble upon, managed to get a table outside which was perfect . Service was quick, food choice was great , from roast, to pasta or pizza , deserts were delicious. Will be will definitely returning. 😊

On arrival we were given a choice of tables but chose a small table with a stunning view, realising that it was not actually large enough for drinks I approached a waiter to ask if I could move to a larger table and was given the 3rd degree and told food would be very slow coming (which in fact was not the case). Our choices for starter and main did not disappoint although the duck meat in my pasta was obviously reheated and as any chef knows, reheating duck can make the meat tough and dry. Our reservation was for 8pm and by 9:30 the staff were folding up tables and sun shades and storing them which did not give much of a feeling of being welcome. When the bill came it included an arbitrary added service charge which was paid grudgingly as the waiter we had for most of the evening did not once crack a smile and did his duty efficiently but without an ounce of charisma. On leaving I was asked by another waiter if we would return but could only mention the lack of cheer in his colleague and the excuse of long hours of work was offered. From my own experience that is standard practice in this industry and if you can't find pleasure in offering hospitality you should find another line of work

1st visit to La Marina. Visited for my wife's birthday with friends. The only downside was we found the service extremely rushed and felt we couldn't relax between courses. Food was reasonable. Felt like a fast food restaurant. Decor could do with a facelift in the conservatory/dining room.

lovely place for lunch. Special lunch menu (pasta and pizza) is very well priced and has excellent choices. Lovely views over the seven and the old lock. The staff were very friendly and accommodated our dog. There is inside and outside seating.

Having had an excellent meal a few weeks ago we decided to return. My wife had booked a table in advance and I have come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter how early you book, if the restaurant is busy , which it was, it is pot luck which table you are given. They don’t seem to reserve one for you. We were offered a table outside. It was a lovely evening so we accepted. There is a slightly enclosed outside area but this was busy so we were given a table in a general outside seating area. The problem with this is that you are forgotten about by staff and we had to wait 25 minutes just for our drinks order to be taken. When I told the waiter we were ready to order he rather curtly told us that there we were too many orders waiting and someone would return to take the food order, 20 minutes later the order was taken. I have to say the food was excellent but the service very poor.

A little goldmine of a place, right on the Marina lock, the food is excellent and the service is good once you get used to their sense of humour.

Great place! lovely views, friendly and accommodating staff, fast service, beautiful food, reasonably priced menu. THE best brownie dessert! Was apprehensive about taking a little human, however I found the place to be pushchair friendly despite not being the biggest venue & we were seated conveniently at the end of the restaurant which allowed access for the buggy to be kept in distance incase needed and enough space for a highchair, yet not too close to other guests which worked well. Baby changing facilities available and well maintained. Will be returning, thank you.

The Calzone had chicken and chorizo inside 🤔🤔 I expected at least mushrooms so pretty disappointed. Though the service is very good and the staff is very kind, with a great atmosphere.

It was a beautiful sunny day, so we thought we would sit outside and take advantage of the early diner deal. The choice was extensive and the presentation was to the usual high standard. Service as always was exceptional

Tremendous. Great flavours, good portion size, good service. Had a lovely Saturday night dinner and came back for the Wednesday steak night.

Visited with friends on a dismal winter day when the lock gates were being repaired and an ultra low tide. I imagine on a fine day it would be far more appealing. I chose Fish and chips which were pretty average, however our companions chose rather more wisely and were very happy with their food. Cost was £30 each for 2 courses Inc a glass of wine and service.

Waiters too busy to notice us, we had to flag them down every time. The lamb shanks were fine but not meltingly tender, vegetables very ordinary. The pasta was a small portion on a very large plate but apparently tasted good. Good atmosphere. Overall a bit disappointed.

Lovely tasty food and company on a dull day, will be fab view in the summer Attentive service. Baked avocado starter very different followed by seafood risotto with bream and prawns washed down by a cheeky pinot grigio Husband had arancini followed by pork which looked lovely too so busy eating forgot to take photos!

First visit to La Marina and probably the last. Went for the 8.95 lunch deal and to be fair the food was pretty good if a little on the greasy side. The staff are polite and the views are good but it just lacks that little bit of magic to take it above the rest. Did not like the optional "service charge" which is clearly not optional! Walked past the day after at 1.10 pm on a Saturday and it was empty, maybe a good reason for this but you never know.

My wife (who is coeliac) had an excellent gluten free pizza here last week. It had an authentic pizza base. She said it was one of the best gluten free pizzas she has ever had. There is a supplement for a gluten free base - but it's well worth the money. All of the pasta options are also available gluten free. I had a regular pizza and that was very good too. Most of the tables are in a glass conservatory, where we sat. It was a sunny winter day and we sat in comfort looking out over the marina/river and watched the passers-by.

A lovely restaurant with a family run atmosphere. Staff so welcoming and helpful. The chicken supreme was freshly cooked, wonderfully seasoned, so tasty and just the right amount. I will definitely go again

Have been here a few times now, not sure why I never got around to adding a review as the food and service are absolutely first class! A lovely and comfortable place to eat too. A really great and varied menu option offering lots of choice, but has never been at the expense of quality. And some amazing specials on the menu too at times. Already have a future booking and a go to place in Portishead for me.

Lovely location and the waiters are the friendliest people ever. The food included great homemade Italian dishes and the British classic turkey with all the trimmings. Reasonable prices and delicious desserts.

We came here on Sunday for a big family and friends get together. The service was brilliant, the food was delicious, and the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere. I always find Italian food/restaurants rather expensive and this is no exception. However, the food, service and location are all very good. We were advised to change our preferred booking time to earlier in the evening as there was a large party in, and consequently we were served quickly and efficiently.

A gem of a place with great staff and range of food including veg and vegan.

We had a table of 10 with 4 teenagers . They cater for everyone really impressive for a restaurant on a Sunday . Very nice Sunday lunch and pizzas and nuggets for the kids . The service was very good waiters were really friendly and polite . Will definitely book again

What a fabulous dining experience on the beautiful portishead marina- as always, we have had a delicious two course meal, full of flavour and not to mention the impeccable service. If you want an authentic Italian experience then La Marina is the place to go! We came for my mum and dad’s 50th Birthdays on two separate occasions and we were not disappointed. Lots of variety on the menu, and the quality is high on all the dishes so hats off to the chef!

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time as some of our friends praised how good it was. Finally gave it a go, but I was a bit disappointed especially with the desert. It supposed to be a baked lemon cheesecake, however it did taste like any supermarket cheesecake and it was also quite dry like it wasn't freshly sliced. Pizza was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Overall not bad, but not outstanding.

We spotted this restaurant when walking around the marina and stopped here for lunch. The service was efficient and friendly. We enjoyed or menu choices. We think we may come here for dinner when we are next in the region.

Nice location. However, food wasn't great so I don't believe I'll back there. Just to expand that a bit: they try food to look like from a really good restaurant, and that is positive. However, taste of it is not greater than in some medium level franchises, and even coffee wasn't that good. I understand why people might like to go there and it could be mostly related to location, I believe, and probably atmosphere (we could be only unlucky and booked table at the last minute what could affect our visit so don't want to judge that)

It was simply awful - tasteless, huge bowl of bland pasta, few tasteless prawns, few flakes of crab stick (crab meat in a menu) , no taste, bland. Do they know about garlick or other spices? Do they try their creations?. Too many people, so no wonder they are lacking quality. Never again

A very nice and friendly Italian restaurant on Portishead's harbour.  We arrived without a booking, and they were happy to fit us in.  It was a busy lunchtime with what appeared to be lots of repeat customers, which is always a good sign. There was a good selection of dishes on the menu.

The food was absolutely delicious and I made mine disappear at a rate of knots! Simply wonderful in every way, I hope you get a chance to visit. Definitely worth booking in advance to avoid disappointment, especially during evenings and weekends

This place is amazing in all level. Service is professional and the food is amazing. Full on flavours and the quality of the ingredients are real. Highly recommend this gem on the edge of the water for any occasion and meal. Thank you for the beautiful dinner we had with you tonight.
