1st visit to La Marina. Visited for my wife's birthday with friends. The only downside was we found the service extremely rushed and felt we couldn't relax between courses. Food was reasonable. Felt like a fast food restaurant. Decor could do with a facelift in the conservatory/dining room.

A little goldmine of a place, right on the Marina lock, the food is excellent and the service is good once you get used to their sense of humour.

The Calzone had chicken and chorizo inside 🤔🤔 I expected at least mushrooms so pretty disappointed. Though the service is very good and the staff is very kind, with a great atmosphere.

Great place! lovely views, friendly and accommodating staff, fast service, beautiful food, reasonably priced menu. THE best brownie dessert! Was apprehensive about taking a little human, however I found the place to be pushchair friendly despite not being the biggest venue & we were seated conveniently at the end of the restaurant which allowed access for the buggy to be kept in distance incase needed and enough space for a highchair, yet not too close to other guests which worked well. Baby changing facilities available and well maintained. Will be returning, thank you.

The menu choice was really good, the food not bad, but not great either. Localisation excellent though.

It was a beautiful sunny day, so we thought we would sit outside and take advantage of the early diner deal. The choice was extensive and the presentation was to the usual high standard. Service as always was exceptional

Tremendous. Great flavours, good portion size, good service. Had a lovely Saturday night dinner and came back for the Wednesday steak night.

Visited with friends on a dismal winter day when the lock gates were being repaired and an ultra low tide. I imagine on a fine day it would be far more appealing. I chose Fish and chips which were pretty average, however our companions chose rather more wisely and were very happy with their food. Cost was £30 each for 2 courses Inc a glass of wine and service.

Waiters too busy to notice us, we had to flag them down every time. The lamb shanks were fine but not meltingly tender, vegetables very ordinary. The pasta was a small portion on a very large plate but apparently tasted good. Good atmosphere. Overall a bit disappointed.

If you didn’t want potatoes and veg with your meal. And had chips instead you pay extra for the chips. Small portions too.

Lovely tasty food and company on a dull day, will be fab view in the summer Attentive service. Baked avocado starter very different followed by seafood risotto with bream and prawns washed down by a cheeky pinot grigio Husband had arancini followed by pork which looked lovely too so busy eating forgot to take photos!

First visit to La Marina and probably the last. Went for the 8.95 lunch deal and to be fair the food was pretty good if a little on the greasy side. The staff are polite and the views are good but it just lacks that little bit of magic to take it above the rest. Did not like the optional "service charge" which is clearly not optional! Walked past the day after at 1.10 pm on a Saturday and it was empty, maybe a good reason for this but you never know.

My wife (who is coeliac) had an excellent gluten free pizza here last week. It had an authentic pizza base. She said it was one of the best gluten free pizzas she has ever had. There is a supplement for a gluten free base - but it's well worth the money. All of the pasta options are also available gluten free. I had a regular pizza and that was very good too. Most of the tables are in a glass conservatory, where we sat. It was a sunny winter day and we sat in comfort looking out over the marina/river and watched the passers-by.

A lovely restaurant with a family run atmosphere. Staff so welcoming and helpful. The chicken supreme was freshly cooked, wonderfully seasoned, so tasty and just the right amount. I will definitely go again

Have been here a few times now, not sure why I never got around to adding a review as the food and service are absolutely first class! A lovely and comfortable place to eat too. A really great and varied menu option offering lots of choice, but has never been at the expense of quality. And some amazing specials on the menu too at times. Already have a future booking and a go to place in Portishead for me.

Lovely location and the waiters are the friendliest people ever. The food included great homemade Italian dishes and the British classic turkey with all the trimmings. Reasonable prices and delicious desserts.

We came here on Sunday for a big family and friends get together. The service was brilliant, the food was delicious, and the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere. I always find Italian food/restaurants rather expensive and this is no exception. However, the food, service and location are all very good. We were advised to change our preferred booking time to earlier in the evening as there was a large party in, and consequently we were served quickly and efficiently.

A gem of a place with great staff and range of food including veg and vegan.

We had a table of 10 with 4 teenagers . They cater for everyone really impressive for a restaurant on a Sunday . Very nice Sunday lunch and pizzas and nuggets for the kids . The service was very good waiters were really friendly and polite . Will definitely book again

What a fabulous dining experience on the beautiful portishead marina- as always, we have had a delicious two course meal, full of flavour and not to mention the impeccable service. If you want an authentic Italian experience then La Marina is the place to go! We came for my mum and dad’s 50th Birthdays on two separate occasions and we were not disappointed. Lots of variety on the menu, and the quality is high on all the dishes so hats off to the chef!

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time as some of our friends praised how good it was. Finally gave it a go, but I was a bit disappointed especially with the desert. It supposed to be a baked lemon cheesecake, however it did taste like any supermarket cheesecake and it was also quite dry like it wasn't freshly sliced. Pizza was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Overall not bad, but not outstanding.

We spotted this restaurant when walking around the marina and stopped here for lunch. The service was efficient and friendly. We enjoyed or menu choices. We think we may come here for dinner when we are next in the region.

Nice location. However, food wasn't great so I don't believe I'll back there. Just to expand that a bit: they try food to look like from a really good restaurant, and that is positive. However, taste of it is not greater than in some medium level franchises, and even coffee wasn't that good. I understand why people might like to go there and it could be mostly related to location, I believe, and probably atmosphere (we could be only unlucky and booked table at the last minute what could affect our visit so don't want to judge that)

It was simply awful - tasteless, huge bowl of bland pasta, few tasteless prawns, few flakes of crab stick (crab meat in a menu) , no taste, bland. Do they know about garlick or other spices? Do they try their creations?. Too many people, so no wonder they are lacking quality. Never again

A very nice and friendly Italian restaurant on Portishead's harbour.  We arrived without a booking, and they were happy to fit us in.  It was a busy lunchtime with what appeared to be lots of repeat customers, which is always a good sign. There was a good selection of dishes on the menu.

The food was absolutely delicious and I made mine disappear at a rate of knots! Simply wonderful in every way, I hope you get a chance to visit. Definitely worth booking in advance to avoid disappointment, especially during evenings and weekends

This place is amazing in all level. Service is professional and the food is amazing. Full on flavours and the quality of the ingredients are real. Highly recommend this gem on the edge of the water for any occasion and meal. Thank you for the beautiful dinner we had with you tonight.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Service was great, not over bearing but friendly and relaxed. A beautiful way to spend a warm Sunday lunch, with great food and atmosphere with brilliant food and drinks.

Really great little restaurant. Very friendly staff, great food and very fair price. Had a really fresh al dente pasta with lots of fresh veg and truffle oil £8.95. Brilliant. Nice position with good views too.

Been coming here once or twice a year since it opened and always impressed. The emphasis is in authentically Italian recipes cooked with flavour and care. The staff are amazingly attentive and the atmosphere is lovely, it is never too noisy or pressurised. The clientele are normally smartly dressed, it looks as if many people use this restaurant for special occasions.

Visited for pizza and a beer. Lovely little spot right on the marina with fantastic views and a lovely ambience. It was busy, but we were fortunate to have a quiet nook away from the larger groups who were there. Service was attentive without intruding on our evening. Some vegan and vegetarian options. We went for pizza which was very nice and good value too. Sides of salad and chips we thought were overpriced for what you got. Chunky chips were delicious but very small portion of about 8 chips. Salad was disappointing. Delicious coffee though! Would visit again when we are next in Portishead. If you are looking for a decent Italian meal in a lovely location you’d be hard pressed to find anything better in Portishead.

Family meal to celebrate a birthday, the restaurant is small but nice and very hot inside, four of our party ordered starters all four left most of it and when the waiter came to collect the plates they mentioned that it was very dry and could not eat it all his attitude of complete disinterest, we then ordered our mains some of us ordered the chicken and mushrooms but the waiter was very short with us saying if you don't tell me type you want how will i know what to get you. When the meal came it was ok others in the party had to wait a bit longer before their meals came, it was a shame that some of the waiters had a bit of an attitude, the meals were ok but not brilliant for the price i think they are over priced. I do not think i will be rushing back there again in the near future.

The waiter was rude from the start.My food was lovely but a few friends who ordered the fillet medallions were very disappointed. The more senior waiter was very defensive when they asked about it.Worst of all they rang a bell or fire alarm when they wanted us to leave.So very hit & miss.I have no plans to return.

A varied interesting menu which is reasonably priced. We were spoilt for choice so will return to try other menu options Both the starters and mains were tasty and beautifully presented using fresh ingredients. Portion sizes were such that we couldn’t manage a dessert but they looked delicious. The service was good and the waiters were attentive without rushing us to make choices. Altogether a very pleasant experience which we will definitely repeat.

Truly excellent, every single time. Excellent, friendly service and in our last trip, wowed my neighbour with the best pork belly he'd ever had, truly mouthwatering. My lobster was excellent 😍 Always excellent quality food, great atmosphere and a lovely view. The waiters even remember that I often have a garlic bread with my starter 🤣. A regular favourite.

First visit. La Marina was a real gem. The food was gorgeous & well presented. The decor was lovely & there was a welcoming ambience. The staff were efficient & attentive. Just shows how good it was because I found myself thinking who I'd like to take to La Marina in the future.

Good welcome from friendly staff and attractive restaurant in interesting lockside location. Nice House Red and we enjoyed our meals, which did, however, lack the wow factor. There was a Chef Wanted ad in the window on the way in.

Service was amazing the food was great as always and this is why this restaurant will always remain my favourite !! The food and ambience was soo nice I stayed not only for lunch but dinner too !! It is all about Italian, from the food to the friendliest service. Feels like eating at home. Espresso and ice cream is to die for. I even forgot to take a picture of them!!🤣🤣

Really nice setting on the lock overlooking the bay, relaxing lunch in a busy restaurant, did not feel rushed so they could turn the tables round, also did not book but got a table outside for 2, very hot day but if you sat in the conservatory style indoor bit it had lots of wide opening doors in there and a good amount of tables. Food really nice, perfect size portions, freshly cooked and very tasty. Best of all? Service second to none, friendly waiters attentive to each table, and not afraid to chat with their customers so felt welcomed. Overall faultless. Thanks for a lovely experience.

Went to visit Portishead marina and decided to get a bight to eat the staff were friendly and happy to serve me the food was excellent and fast and served with a smile top marks

Rather unobtrusive Restaurant by the lock into Portishead marina; but do visit! Friendly and attentive service & had the Seabass risotto.. yummy. Washed down with some Rose. As I say, rather non descript but great food & service; so pay a visit as it’s also good value.

Bad experience!!!! After being seated at 8pm for two. Told to hurry up as the kitchen closed at 8.30!! Starters had hard cold and old vegetables on the plate with sauce stuck to it! For mains we had under cooked pasta with duck fat which tasted like a chow main from down the road and I had a pizza with rocket that looked very much like shredded lettuce from the kebab shop. (It was) After not eating it all (obviously) we could see the chef getting agitated about it in full view of the restaurant!!! Flapping his arms like a penguin trying to fly!! Staff were miserable apart from one young man who was probably the highlight of the whole thing and that's nothing to quite home about!! How this place has over 4 stars I will never know!! A real shame and ruined the evening.

recommended by a friend after I asked for suggestions in portishead. olives, meh, and had stones. the beer on tap, excellent! salmon with mash and sauce, good, but the vegetables it came with were basic. toilets are one at a time cubicle. I've no idea where you're supposed to park a car, but i was fine because i had my motorbike. shall find a way to ask my friend what they saw... i didn't see it...

We had a lovely meal here on a Sunday afternoon. I had the carbonara and my wife had the salmon, both were delicious and served piping hot. The service was also excellent with friendly staff. The only very minor downside was that because the restaurant is so popular and I booked late, we were sat just inside the door and we did not get to enjoy the nice view outside. But I can't wait to come back again!

Nice location. Great ambience. Great menu. My personal view is more seasoning and a bit more attention to detail and presentation would help make this a "great" experience. Portions could be slightly smaller and quality enhanced e.g. beef fillet medallions, chewy & tough! Overall a pleasant venue.

Server got the order wrong so the food went back, it seems that the order was then reproduced by using some of the ingredients of of incorrect dish with the order that eventually came, it didn't taste nice almost as if the pasta was microwaved. 10% service charge for poor service and lack luster food, you're having a laugh.

I live very close to La Marina but this was my first time visiting after hearing mixed reviews from friends. The food was great but the service was awful. Our waiter was rude and it’s really tainted our view of the place, so I don’t think we’ll be back any time soon.

9 of us ate dinner here and we were all very pleased with the food, service and value for money. The dishes really were excellent and the staff are friendly and relaxed. Good choices for vegetarians and gluten intolerant people. Highly recommended.

Myself, wife and friends were visiting Portishead and went for a stroll around the Marina. As we got to the top end by the beach we noticed this restaurant. We only had drinks this time and was served by an Italian gentleman. He was very friendly and helpful. They have a good range of drinks.
