La Magnolia in Thanet

Went there today and would definitely return- the pizza was so fresh and tasty- it was amazing! Also had a decaf oat latte which was great! The staff were friendly and the place was buggy friendly.

The restaurant it's getting worse year by year, first time we visited they only gave us the wrong drinks, kind of acceptable, next year wrong food but still decent. Today we had lunch there and food got miserable The pizza was a crape once cutted it had to be rolled to not fall apart, The chicken gave my wife food poisoning and bruschetta which was the only thing I just loved there. The only pasta in the Italian restaurant was seafood spaghetti. I wish this town has at least one decent restaurant but we won't be back ever again.

Took some friends out on a Sunday afternoon in the rain, very gusty wind too! Lovely welcome and great service. Italian restaurant with great sea views. Wood fired pizza oven gives everything an authentic feel, my friends were most impressed and chose amongst other things Chianti Lasagne, Pizza Tricolore and Pork in mushroom sauce, and delicious Valpolicella 2021 red wine! I ordered Tiramisu for my dessert! All in all delicious food and great company made 2.5 hours fly by!

Very overprice £9.50 per Aperol little wine mostly ice and soda! Poor food quality, bruschetta at that price I expect better bread than pre sliced white crusty loaf just bog standard, salad tomatoes from supermarket hard not even the nice piccolo ones!! Had chicken ok very plain. Sister had pasta was tasty but nothing special. Lunch for two £78 which I thought was a lot - I didn’t bother with a tip. Best thing was the view but I wouldn’t bother tbh

This restaurant is always excellent. We came today at lunchtime and as per normal the service was welcomming and friendly. The pizzas amazing and the drinks super cold. Add the amazing views on the terrace and again you have a fantastic dining experience.

This the best Italian restaurant in all UK. Amazing pizza amazing dessert Very authentic and lovely front of house. Marco is a superb person and made our night perfect Thank you!

Visited on a Monday evening on a hot summer's day. We had a table inside by the windows which were wide open and facing the harbour. We were not in a hurry, the staff were under pressure as it was so busy but they checked in with us and made sure we were ok. My husband had an amazing rib eye steak cooked exactly how he had asked and I had the pork dish with mushroom sauce. We each had wine and a limoncello to finish it all off. Perfect evening. Thank you, especially to the chef who was on his own after last minute staff shortage. I recommend this restaurant.

Visited on a Thursday evening. Didn't book but plenty of tables available. Ordered drinks ordered food no problem. Then asked for a second pint of beer to be told no more draught beer so was offered a bottle. Partner asked for tap water. Small bottle of beer brought but no tap water but we'll wait. Five minutes later take next to me receives a pint of beer. Mentioned this to elderly gentleman (perhaps owner) who says he'll investigate but he never returned with explanation. Still no tap water. Finally bill comes with automatic service charge added. Asked to bring bill without service charge. May seem petty but small things make a difference. Seems a shame as such a nice setting..

A stunning meal here last night outside on the terrace. Beautiful food, lovely wine, terrific service. This place has it all.

Lovely Italian bar/restaurabt. Fabulous location over looking Ramsgste Harbour. Indoor and outdoor seating. Good menu and lovely food. Friendly service. Good value.

We ordered one starter, two pizzas, two pasta dishes and two drinks. The starter came quickly and was enjoyed by the person who ordered it. The two pizzas and one of the pasta dishes arrived shortly afterwards. My pasta - a lasagne - arrived when the others were half way through their mains. The waiter advised to watch out as the dish it was in was very hot. The lasagne itself was barely warm at the edges and stone cold in the middle. The waiter took it back and it was a while before it was returned - in the now even hotter ceramic dish. However, the lasagne was still cold in the middle. The waiter I told said 'what, again'? with an air of disbelief as the ceramic dish was still hot. The three family members with me had all dipped their utensils into the middle of the lasagne and confirmed to the waiter it was cold. The manager was then summoned who said he didn't understand it as the dish it was in was hot. We all understood that the dish was hot because this is what happens to ceramic cookware in a microwave, when re-heating a frozen portion of lasagne - twice. It is also how people get food poisoning. I declined to order a new main dish as my companions had finished eating and nobody wanted a dessert. There was no reduction offered on the bill which, when mentioned, we were told that we "hadn't been charged for the lasagne" - unbelievable. The staff who had asserted the restaurant "never uses microwaves" were sniggering when we left. Coupled with their nonchalant response to potentially poisoning a customer - twice - I cannot recommend this place and we will never return.

On a boiling hot day, where else to go for lunch. Two beautiful lunches, served with a nice glass of wine and overlooking the harbour. Perfect.

I used to love this restaurant. The people were largely from the Naples area and the food was good. I think it has taken a slide backwards however. The calzone was leathery and hard to cut. The wine was beyond even Firenze standards (in price) but not in quality. The rudimentary toilets, accessed via a dark, narrow stair without the correct nosings, had no towels, no hand drier and were very third world. I have known better facilities in Turkey! Shame, it was my "to go to" restaurant. Come on....you can do better!

Live in the area, have done for years. Seen the Location change hands & "fare" a few times . NOW tried it as "Italian" flavours, & the quality of the set Lunch menu was excellent & reasonably priced . View of the sea, outside seating ... couldnt have been more relaxing. Attentive but not intrusive staff .. a thoroughly enjoyable Lunch. Do give it a try...👍

The pizza was tasty. The same cannot be said about lasagna and fried seafood. Tasteless lasagna, seafood and fish also did not represent anything. The service is terribly confused and slow. Waiting time for the meal is almost 2 hours. We will definitely not come back again.

Lovely views by the pier. While the appetisers were good, the main course was unfortunately not up to the mark. I’ve definitely had better pasta!

We thought we was going for a nice family meal got here at 2.45 and starters didn’t come out until 3.45 which were cold but we ate them and thought we will give the mains a chance. My daughter’s spag bowl came out and was so oily and the mince was clumped into big balls. Then for my pork loin it was tougher than old boots and was freezing cold so sent back and swapped for a pizza whilst waiting for this my husband told me that the inside of his calzone was freezing cold and the cheese was like leather which immediately made me think it was re heated. I sent this back and cancelled my main and we left . This is not the first time I have been there. I thoroughly enjoyed my first trip to this restaurant but will never be returning again.

Lovely chicken salad & my friend had a delicious pizza.

We ordered a Penne all'Arrabbiata, a vegan option, and a Risotto allo Zafferano. The risotto was good, but the Penne was overly spicy, leaving your mouth numb. We spoke to the waiter who served us who said that the penne is really spicy. A shame, nice place, terrible experience.

Service was very slow despite the restaurant being mostly empty. The food was average and the chefs were vaping in the kitchen!

The kids pasta and ice cream were good. However, the starters were very poor. An aubergine Parmesan was mostly solid poor quality mozzarella. The service was very slow and the place seemed to be uncoordinated generally. One server seemed to be taking the brunt with most of the others being teenage / inexperienced staff in tow. Very slow at each stage. The mains when they came were good (not great). The lack of stars is to indicate they need to sort out the timing and/or communication (as there was none). And also as it is by far from cheap. My main at £26 is something I cook regularly and whilst decent, wasn’t special. We still paid the inclusive service charge by the way but hope things get better.

We had a wonderful dining experience! All of our dishes were delicious. Paul was the consummate waiter! Make sure to save room for the gelato!

Bad. The ricotta ravioli were, in fact, cappelletti and poorly cooked and bland. The marguerite pizza instead of a proper tomato sauce has some ultra runny tomato passata. Service was the lowest point we end up chasing the waiters

Food i ordered was not great whatsoever. Mozzarella for starters which came out stone cold and was chewy. Rigatoni in a skillet which was in a watery sauce with about 15 pieces of undercooked pasta, and a margarita pizza which also came out undercooked and a little cold. Honestly might have been a bad day but food was pretty awful. Service was good and brought out food quickly (probably why some of it was undercooked)

Well! This is a lovely restaurant. The location is good, the ambience is wonderful, the service is excellent. The wine was chilled to perfection. So with great expectations, we were so sad that the food was such a disappointment. Salmon burnt, and dry, pork overcooked and tasteless. Nice limoncello to finish but such a let down.

we order the well done rib eye steak but come with medium it keeps us waiting for 1.5hours to get the main course! And wrong course! unacceptable at all

The service was so slow that I was served two appetizers in 40 minutes, and it took another hour to wait for the main course. Even if you call the waiter, he will wait for 5 minutes before he will pay attention to you.

We had a great meal here - pizza was massive! Pork cheeks in red wine amazing. Will be back to try more.

Best Italian restaurant! Always fresh food, great staff and view! My go to restaurant every time I visit Ramsgate. I live in London and sometimes go all the way to Ramsgate just to have some of their pizzas 🍕. Would highly recommend!

Came in with friends and family one winter afternoon. Great food, great service. Absolutely nothing to complain about, great job!

Food is absolutely stunning, can't fault the quality at all, faultless. The staff are well presented, polite, helpful & not disturbing you every 5 minutes. They know when to approach the table. Staff approachable for conversation & are quirky with a family feel. Portion sizes are just right, and the flavours are just mouth-watering. Undecided what wine to have. A small taster was offered before selection, nice touch. With a 3 course plus many drinks the price was very reasonable & worth every penny. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Beautiful authentic Italian pizza, the closest I’ve had to being in Italy while dining in the UK. Great spot in summer if you can dine outside overlooking the Harbour.

It started off very well , I had ordered the tagliatelle Verdi with tomatoes and walnuts , it arrived with my husbands order , there were no walnuts but what looked like peanuts , I sent it back because of this , I was told they were almonds , as I didn’t want it with almonds they made me the dish again, when it was served it was just tagliatelle but with a few halves of cherry tomatoes, it was quite bland, by now my husband had eaten his meal( otherwise it would have been cold) all in all a bad experience, we were visiting Ramsgate and decided to stay on a whim , so thought we would go out for a nice meal , well that didn’t happen , would not go there again, the manager knocked 10% off the bill , which had 2 glasses of wine marked up as 12 per glass rather than 10.. not only thet ruined a lovely night out , they can’t count either!

Not really sure why people have such a high ratings here but the food is really under average from what you should expect. Ordered carpaccio and it was literally 4 slices of some kind of salami type of meat. Pizza was tasteless as well as pork cheeks been average too. Not really impressed, would not recommend. Service was really good and friendly.

Wet, cold and windy Sunday afternoon in November about 5.30 so midway between lunch and dinner and therefore few customers. The food was delicious and the service spot on. Last time I visited I think I said the steak was the best I'd had for years and it was just as good this time. House red is pretty decent

We Had a lovely time at La Magnolia having a Lunch time Meal and the Food and Service was amazing, it’s a great Restaurant with wonderful Views if you sit near the Windows, I honestly can’t fault anything about this place and if you like Italian Food then I can highly recommend it, we will definitely be back!

Had a three course meal here, when we came to Ramsgate. We couldn't fault the service, Lovely friendly staff, and the food was delicious, will definitely visit again.

Very nice view , also very good service and nice food

Absolutely divine!!! Our server was hilarious, he had a great personality, and was very knowledgeable of the menu. I had the seabass on the menu, and let me tell you…this is true Italian cuisine. The fish was fresh, and cooked perfectly, the sauce was perfectly balanced, the shrimp were so fresh and succulent. Let’s not forget about the cocktails! Espresso martini was top notch. We saved room for dessert, the sorbet and ice creams were so flavorful, and the tiramisu was substituted for tiramisu profiteroles. I was a little skeptical at first, but went for it anyway as I love tiramisu. I’ve never seen a profiterole that big before. Absolutely delicious. I wish this restaurant was in my home town, I’d be there everyday!

I went all the way from London just to have lunch for my birthday in this restaurant, we have arrived before our time but we’ve been served anyway. The food it was delicious, specially the garlic bread on a pizza base! The service was fast and every single person that came to our table was polite and smiling which makes the meal even more pleasant. The only down side is the prices that are on the high side, due to that I’ll not be able to return as frequently as I wish.

First visit to Ramsgate (on business) for the four of us who dined at La Magnolia. We thought the restaurant looked nice, and ticked the boxes for what we all wanted to eat. Well, it was much better than nice. The menu was excellent and realistically priced. The food was delicious and service was attentive without being intrusive. We all had a wonderful evening, so thank you to all at La Magnolia. Had we have been staying another night, I'm sure we would have gone back!

We had a lovely Thursday evening at La Magnolia , lovely food and the service was excellent. My husband had the daily special , a Seafood Tagliatelli and I had Spaghetti alle Vongole which were both delicious.

Lovely restaurant with friendly atmosphere and attentive servers, The menu was varied and delicious. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Incorrect meals delivered to the table, tasteless ravioli and no more than 10 clams on my dish, poor value, at least the waiter was cheerful. The well done steak delivered to the adjacent table was returned as rare was ordered.

This used to be our favourite go to restaurant. We were surprised as to how much the menu had been reduced by with many of our favourites no longer on the menu. The starters were ok but nothing special but we were surprised as to how much they now cost. Due to lack of mains options we both had pizzas which were mediocre to say the least. My rocket and cherry tomato pizza consisted of 3 halves of cherry tomatoes and a few rocket leaves. The final insult was the bill for £92 for 2 starters 2 mains and 4 drinks. Needless to say we won’t be returning any time soon

Went to La Magnolia on a very warm summer night. The outside tables were busy but not full. We were seated inside as we were a large group, which was not as busy. There were several staff waiting or at least running around the place. We were then left for over 20 mins before a waitress brought bottles of (open) tap water to the tables which we hadn’t ordered( so we were surprised to find at the end of the evening that we were charged £2:95 for each one!)… not sure that’s even legal in the UK as tap water has to be provided free on request. Approx 25 mins later we were asked for our drinks order and were informed that the best value beer option ( Peroni 660ml) was not available so had to opt for moretti at £6:50 a pint. A bottle of average white wine was £24:95. We then had a long, long wait for our starters to arrive, with nothing being provided , eg a breadstick, bread bowl etc in the meantime. As we had had to preorder our meals over a week in advance and had turned up on time,the restaurant knew exactly what would be required and when, so no excuses for it being a large group really. When the starters did eventually arrive, they came piece meal and had obviously not been QA’d as there was no consistency in portion size. The penne N’Douja turned out to be a small pizza base with either 2,3 or 4 meatballs ( potluck!) on. The base was nice but the meatballs were bland and some of us had very little of n’douja flavoured sauce. The other starters were apparently okay but not anything special. We then waited over an hour for the table to be cleared and the mains served and it wasn’t until one of our party who hadn’t had a starter flagged down a passing waiter and pointed out that he had been in the restaurant for almost 2 hours and had only been able to order 1 drink and no food, that the staff suddenly gave better service! The mains were again served peacemeal and some were brought 10 minutes after the others. I had the pork cheek with roast potatoes which was nice but over cooked and there was no other veg on the plate and that was the same for all the mains. As a service charge of 10% is added to all tables of 6 or more, I got the feeling that the staff didn’t feel any need to give any service as they would get a tip regardless. Overall a very disappointing experience where we were made to feel like we were a nuisance rather than customers spending money. I won’t be going back.

A female solo traveller I looked forward to dinner at La Magnolia. A main course, 2 glasses of house wine and service came to £40. And the waitresses was grumpy. I did tell a waiter, and he said she was tired. For £40 a smile would be nice.

This was my second visit to La Magnolia, the first as a solo diner last month and the most recent with family. The staff could not have been more accommodating and despite being a fairly last minute booking we were given the most fabulous open window table. The food, service, views and ambiance is of the finest quality - My father is gluten free and they have a dedicated GF menu which is a rarity and they even gave my dad the remaining pasta to take home with him! The only problem encountered was as I had lost my voice I couldn't express to the manager just how much I enjoyed the experience. Will definitely be returning if they can fit me in! Sarah x

Just the worst dinner I’ve had in years. We waited over an hour for mains (started came up within 15), then we were left to sit waiting. Asked was there a problem, told it was Regatta week, and? My dish came up with cold, chopped up sword fish dumped on top of 3 prawns on top of watery risotto? I never complain on here but this couldn’t go unrecognised.

Great food and friendly service. The location and views are perfect during sunset. I had mussels which were fresh and rich in flavour, wanted to lick the plate or save for dipping sauce. The pizza was nicely done and authentic, like the ones i had in italy. The pasta ravioli although didnt look like a big portion but was spot on in flavour and size. I would definitely return!

Had a meal with my partner just before valentines and the waiter was absolutely brilliant. Didn't catch his name but he made our night. Food was lovely and very reasonably priced.

It’s really lovely. Went for an early dinner and it was one of the few places open at 5pm and it was a treat. Tried starters, amazing pizza and dessert and nothing to fault. Reasonable prices, big portions, really fresh ingredients. Really fresh calamari with dusted batter as opposed to the usual 95% batter and 5% calamari, so very impressive. Waiting staff is very attentive and professional, real Italian feel. Totally worth a visit and locals should come here often to support them as it’s a joy to have this little gem in such a special place in Thanet

Popped in on a busy Saturday night on the off chance they had a table for two, and they did! First time here but had heard great reviews so we were both looking forward to it. The positive reviews are definitely well earned as the service & food were faultless. I'm new to Ramsgate and am super happy I've found a great Italian restaurant on my doorstep. Will be back soon ☺️

Really lovely food, friendly staff and great vegetarian options. We came for early dinner with two small children who were warmly welcomed and very well fed. The food and wine was all delicious. We hope to visit again soon.

My partner and I and some of his family were here last night. The food was amazing very fresh, decent portions and tasted amazing. Between us we sampled calamari, olives, stuffed mushroom, pizza, lobster ravioli, duck cappacio pasta, chicken and a steak and it was all absolutely incredible. Staff were friendly and very attentive too. Definitely will be back in the summer for the views but even yesterday the lights on the boats in the marina was a beautiful sight. Doing everything well here keep it up!
