Quaint restaurant along Lambs Conduit (nearest stations: Holborn and Russell Square). Warm and helpful staff. Casual unpretentious interiors. Take-away or dine in experience; either is satisfactory (this restaurant has a regular following). Fair prices. The pastries are really good! Will return.

An excellent dinner for two. We had been contacted re a large party booking and they had suggested a variant of their sharing menu. What a splendid offer - three starters, two mains, two desserts. Delicious, authentic food, served with knowledge and care. Good wine list too. Top quality at a reasonable price - thank you!

Have eaten here a couple of times recently. The main eating area lies behind the shop, and is a little spartan and functional. Service was prompt and friendly. Lunchtime menu is interesting, and meals are prepared with care. I work in the area, and can vouch for La Gourmandina as the best value food in the locality. Well worth a visit; the shop sells delicious delicatessen-style treats which are imported and unavailable anywhere else in this part of London.

I stumbled upon this place by chance a couple years back and have been coming ever since. Situated on the tranquil Lamb's Conduit Street this really is a place that offers the best coffees/teas, cakes and stunning Franco Italian fare (the risotto balls are to die for, and the almond croissant are my absolute favourite). All food is made daily on site and with incredibly fresh, clean ingredients. The atmosphere is warming and lovely (right now brilliantly Christmassy). The staff are friendly, attentive and have an idiosyncratic way of making you feel so comfortable... I love this place, 10/10. I can't wait to try the dinner service!

Lambs Conduit Street these days is pretty much so hipster-central, for this part of Central London at any rate and has come a long way since I used to visit the legendary Shop 70A in the mid-1990s for cut-price Italian designer clothing. La Gourmandina is somewhere between epicerie, crêperie, Cave á Vin and café with the ascent more on French than Italian. Don’t be put off by the small amount of seating visible at the front – there’s plenty more seating at the back.

It's Italian, no, it's french, no it's Italian. No matter. It's great!!. You enter the place and don't be misled by the scanty food display, or the almost bare furnishings. Prepare yourself for a feast. These guys can make culinary wonders from both sides of Mont Blanc, for the menu has something from both countries. Try the lamb pallet. A simple trattoria/bistrot/canteen type restaurant at the back of the delicatessen shop. Good ingredient, proper no nonsense wine, nice place to eat and drink and relax with friends. We went on a quiet night so it felt a little quiet, but the staff and owner made the evening. I am very familiar with French and Italian cuisines and can state, without equivocation, that Marie (owner and directeur) is a rare breed, deftly combining business acumen and a refined palate with genuine human kindness. The restaurant could just as easily be located in Rue de la Bucherie in the Latin Quarter, or in Piazza dell'Anfiteatro in Lucca--no mean trick, given the climate in London. This is no place for the self-important, faux connoisseur: if you come, check your attitude at the door and allow Marie and her wonderful staff to do what they do best--culinary transportation.

La Gourmandia is situated in Holborn not far from Russell Square Tube Station and the restaurant is concealed behind the façade of a snack/coffee bar. The establishment is atmospheric but simple with a concrete floor and sturdy wooden trestle tables flanked by some well populated wine racks. We opted for the Open Table Menu which offered 3 or 4 choices at each course plus a glass of bubbly. Service was friendly and helpful although there was a bit of a gap between courses.A group of 6 of us ate at La Gourmandia and we were delighted with both the food and friendly service. The food is Italian (but no pizza) and examples of the starters on offer were fresh watercress soup with Italian sausage, celeriac with onions, herbs and Italian cream cheese. For main the choice was pork belly with vegetables, gnocchi with roast vegetables or cuttlefish risotto. Between us we sampled the full range of starter's/mains and they all looked/tasted home cooked and were delicious. For desert there were various Italian puddings or the choice of cake from the well stocked trolley. I loved the chocolate cake with sauce which was rich, moist and just so chocolatey. We also ordered a couple bottles of nice Italian wine plus coffees too and the bill came to £37 a head including the 12.5% service charge, very reasonable for Central London and the standard of food. La Gourmandia is a bit different in its set up and atmosphere but I mean that in a very positive sense as the food and service reflects genuine pride and passion in this small but charming restaurant.

I've booked an evening meal for myself and three friends and I was quite worried because one of my friends is rather fussy, or should I say difficult when it comes to dining out. I should have not worried. We started with a wonderful negroni, followed for me by a very good site portion of pate with mini croissant and I think quince and then lamb - perfectly cooked - with yummy mash and then a gigantic creme brûlée with a hint of green tea. My friends had watercress soup - very generous portion -, carasau bread lasagna, and...I can't remember..oh yes, date cake with salted caramel ice-cream. All dishes were well above average. Highly recommended. Can't wait to go back, maybe for lunch.

Not a crowded feeling at all even though the place was busy. The menu isn't extensive however there are enough variety to choose from, even some healthier option without carbs. As a regular customer the the nearby hospital, we've also been fans of this cafe/restaurant. It seems the busyness of the place has created an atmosphere where the owner doesn't care if that particular customer stays or leaves. Whilst the food and cakes have been good previously, I'm done with the service and won't be returning.

I went with a friend on a wet Wednesday evening not really knowing what to expect. From the outside you see a little Italian deli, but what you don't see is the large room at the back. Now, this room isn't going to float everyone's boat as it is quite bare, almost stark and the floor needs a bit of TLC - it's clearly intentional however. But..it's comfortable, cosy and quite intimate, so all good.Very friendly and welcoming staff, showed us to a nice corner table and gave us a short menu and a long wine list. Some lovely little amuse bouche turned up, simple but very tasty.Choosing was easy since we are both meat people. We started off with an amazing shared trio of pates - The Hunter - , comprising a smooth chicken liver pate, a very coarse ham hock and one, again, very coarse which I've forgotten (probably rabbit), with pickles and bread. They were all gorgeous, no other word, and were slowly eaten to take in all the different textures and flavours. Honestly, the nicest starter of that type I have ever eaten. Be warned - there was a lot of it too :-).I had lapin gourmand for my main - Toulouse sausage stuffed rabbit leg with a mustard sauce, creamy mash and greens. My friend had potee Savoyard - belly pork, sauted cabbage, sausage and veg. We agreed that both were superb beyond any doubt. The flavours, the preparation, the presentation were all perfect. Definitely one of the best mains either of us had ever eaten. We had also ordered a vegetable tempura which was stunning if, as it turned out, not strictly necessary......All of this was washed down with a lovely bottle of St Nicholas de Bourgeil - one of my favourites - which complemented every course very well indeed.Neither of us could manage pudding as, to put it bluntly, we were stuffed. If this all sounds a bit gushy, I apologize, but it was as good as I've said. The staff were great, the service was spot on and it didn't cost a fortune either. Highly recommended.

I politely asked for a glass of water and boy was that not received well, interrupting me to tell me how busy she was before I had even finished my sentence. She purposefully then ignored me for next ten minutes and so I went to the counter and asked for some myself. I waited longer and still no one came to my table or asked and when she came over she was rude and surly. The food is not bad but unfortunately the disorganised nature of the place and the attitude of the waitress ruined the entire experience for me and I lost my appetite.

the food was creative and very good but various options had already run out on the night we were there which was a shame. There was also an issue with the offer in that the glass of champagne was in fact prosecco and wasn't available when we first arrived; we were offered a free bottle of white wine until prosecco supplies were replenished and ended up having it with dessert. But excellent venue for a dinner with friends as we could actually hear each other speak which is a first in a central London venue. Fabulous food at reasonable prices with good service and nice ambience, located in a lovely, quiet part of London. It's nothing fancy but it hits the spot. I've been here twice now with clients and both times have been fabulous. I highly recommend it.

Stopped in by chance, looking for a midweek place to grab some food while in London with work. Had a nice soup and glass of wine but the lamb ragu pappardelle was one of the nicest plates of pasta I've ever eaten, in Italy or elsewhere. Never tasted anything quite like it. Very friendly staff, top service and nice laid back atmosphere, highly recommended

We reserved a table at La Gourmandina based upon the very favourable reviews on Trip Advisor. Several hours before we arrived the owner phoned up and asked whether we would prefer a table inside or outside due to the lovely weather. We started with a French and Italian cold meat and cheese platter to share, followed by Rabbit stuffed with tuscan sausage for me and Summer salad for Christina. This was accompanied by a nice glass or two of Pinot Noir from the Cotes d'Auxerre. At all times the service was very friendly and very helpful. A delightful evening indeed! We would happily return again.

Zona pedonale molto carina!

I don't know why I have never been Lamb's Conduit Street before, but I loved it and La Gourmandina. Both are a celebration of independent business doing their thing well. The food was unfussy but full of flavour, sourcing great produce is obviously important. The starter sharing plates were gorgeous both to look at and to eat. The staff were very warm and friendly.

We visited la Gourmandina, as Lamb's Conduit Street is one of our favorite streets in London. The staff is most friendly, welcoming and extremely attentive. The food is fresh and authentic, to put it quite bluntly: delicious. Btw if you do not know what a burrata is, you should come here and find out.

Lovely place in a lovely neighbourhood. Prices are a little high but the food is very top quality. I love the sandwiches and the parmigiana...one of the best place to eat proper Italian food in town!

My wife and I are fortunate to have a flat less than fifteen minutes' walk from La Gourmandina, from where we have just returned. We have had breakfast and coffee there on many occasions but never, until this evening, focussed on the fact that they also serve lunch and dinner. That is clearly our loss. Our dinner was simply excellent. The restaurant is unpretentious with simple stools or folding chairs at the tables. The wine list is well-chosen and not expensive. The food is spectacularly good; a combination of the best possible ingredients, well prepared and beautifully presented. Service is attentive without being invasive. We were fortunate to meet the owner (Marie) who was a delight. This place is one of very few restaurants that we rate as "treasures". Selfishly, I am almost wary of giving such a high recommendation but such excellence deserves generosity to other restaurant goers.

Cute and quirky little place. The back area was like sitting in Florence. Staff were amazingly friendly and welcoming and very passionate about their food - a lot of which is hand made fresh in house daily e.g. bread and cakes.

The service is absolutely great and the food is delicious. Wine selection also 5 stars! Marie is simply lovely. The quality of the food reflects the hard work of creativity of the chef, some of the recipes are extremely original and can only be found here.

Delightful, and friendly staff, excellent cheese board and superb wine selection. I shall be back for a 'proper' meal soon as the menu looked excellent! As their website says, there is nothing like the simple pleasure of eating real food.

Happened upon on a superb and sunny May evening. warm enough to sit outside and take in the to and fro of a traffic-free street. Excellent food and wine - managed to break a glass half -full of Sauvignon and the staff offered a fill-up: can't say fairer than that. Only quibbled - having chosen risotto i was forewarned that it would take 25 minutes to prepare - so I chnaged to duck which took at least as long - strange - duck was excellent though. My wife's selection of starters received a big thumbs up too and we ate slowly and quietly as very good food demands.

If I could give a 10/10 stars for service I would. My mother and I was served by Antony and his vibe, personality and aura was wonderful. He was so kind and welcoming. I hope his managers give him credit for his good customer service and appreciate his work ethic. We will definitely return to this branch solely because Antony made it a pleasant experience

Cinnamon roll is too hard and the cinnamon scent is not noticeable. The latte is delicious
