La Fortuna Italian Restaurant in Kensington and Chelsea

We weren't crazy about the food: it wasn't that it was bad, but it certainly couldn't be compared to the average quality level found in Italy, especially with regard to some ingredients. The pasta, in particular, was not particularly tasty. The waiting time was very long, the service was kind. I don't think the location (really low mezzanine, with drafts) justifies the price paid (around 35 euros each). In conclusion, not bad, but I don't feel like recommending it or saying that the dishes offered are equivalent to the average standards of an Italian restaurant.

We ate here on 20th December. We didn't have a reservation but were welcomed in without fuss. The entire meal was absolutely superb! Perfect in every respect. It's a reassuringly short menu but there is something for everyone - meat, fish,pasta and veggie. There were also some lovely specials beautifully described by the waitresses. House white wine was excellent. Service was top class. The food was so so, good and all produced by 3 people working in a large cupboard. Very highly reccomended. Dont spend the same amount of money on awful hotel/chain food. Come here!!

La Fortuna is a delightful Italian restaurant with a warm, family-friendly vibe. Elsa, the chef, is charming and welcoming, often preparing special dishes and happily accommodating customers’ preferences. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. The staff are friendly and have been with the restaurant for a long time, which reflects their satisfaction and loyalty to the place. I’ve visited 7-8 times and already noticed many regulars. The restaurant has been a neighborhood staple for years. The food is delicious, with generous portions and fresh ingredients. I’ve brought several friends for dinner, and they all enjoyed the experience as well. Conveniently located just minutes from High Street Kensington, the restaurant has limited seating, so be sure to book in advance as it often fills up quickly.

We called in by chance as we haven’t booked anything. The restaurant manager was very kind and managed to fit us in (table of 6). The food was delicious and the portions were big. We all had starters and mains. Would highly recommend this lovely little restaurant

I can't recommend anywhere more highly than this place. We were just meandering around and stumbled upon this spot and the entire meal we were marvelling at how lucky we were to find it. I had the best ravioli I've ever had in my life, everything was absolutely fantastic and the service was hands down incredible. Worth every penny. Would go back in a heartbeat. The head chef, Elsa, is fantastic and gave us great menu recommendations.

Absolutely fabulous food and service, best Italian food I have had for a long time. All dishes were delicious, the blend of ingredients and flavours were lovely. An Italian that takes the time to make Zabaglione is always a good sign and this restaurant does not disappoint. Would definitely recommend and we will return.

Absolutely incredible meal and experience. After a long day of travel, we were hungry, and wanted a cozy atmosphere. Michael was a wonderful server who recommend exactly what we wanted. It’s some of the best Italian food we’ve ever had (and I’ve been to italy several tomes!). Cannot recco this place enough. Thank you, La Fortuna!

This restaurant is a true family-owned gem. The food is fresh, deliciously homemade and beautifully presented. If you want something special that is not on the menu, feel free to ask and if they can accommodate you, they will. The staff are absolutely outstanding. We can't wait to return.

Three of us shared an appitizer, and then ordered three different pasta dishes. Everything was delicious. The people at the table next to us had pizza and that is now on my list for my next visit! 2nd time here, and both times the meal was outstanding!

Small intimate home atmosphere. We were welcomed as special guests/friends. Staff were warm and engaging. Direct contact with the one who prepared the food- wonderful experience. Look forward to a future visit.

Great awesome food. Atmosphere lovely and quaint, friendly and helpful staff advising on food and wine. Chef very hospitable and inviting. If you want a evening out with good Italian food then this is the place to come to. Even when I spilt red sauce on my shirt, chef came out and cleaned it off for me so it wouldn't stain. What an awesome chef!

We paid £170 for 4 pasta dishes, 2 tiramisu, a 1/2 bottle of house wine, and a couple of bottles of water. The pasta dishes were good, but nothing exceptional. It's an overpriced place that is better to avoid. I'm very surprised that they have a lot of good reviews. I'm even wondering whether they included something else in the bill but we haven't taken it to check. Not a great experience for a price we paid!

Very friendly service. It's lovely tasty food, and the best thing is the owner came out and said hello and makes sure that we had a good time . Before we leave, she gave us a hug and thanks us for coming . I am so grateful to be there.

The food was excellent! We tasted the buratta pasta and the chef’s salad with mango dressing and it was one of the best salads I’ve ever had! Recommend it!

We loved our experience at La Fortuna, we brought our 2 year old with us and the entire staff was very friendly and accommodating and treated us like family. Our food was just as amazing, everything house made from scratch from pizza to pasta. We will be back on our next visit.

Delicious! The salad with shrimp is the most delicious I have ever tasted. The pizza has delicious cheese and above all the atmosphere is so cozy!

The chef is from the Lake Como area. She knows her way around a kitchen. I began with a variation on a caprese salad with pesto instead of balsamic. The tomatoes and cheese were wonderfully fresh. He had the saffron and Parmesan risotto and I had paccheri Lombardi—a pasta with sausage fennel and a white wine sauce. Had a lovely bottle of Prosecco too. Portions huge so took leftovers back to flat. Very good service. Small place so recommend reservations

We live only 10 minutes away by car but only discovered La Fortuna recently - wish we had come earlier. The food was very delicious with warm home feeling - the pasta was freshly made, the daily special grilled tiger prawn was super tasty, and another special osso buco was tender off the bone with 6-hour slow cooking. The owner / chef was very friendly to our kids, and the waitresses were very attentive and efficient. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back soon.

We found this place last minute on a Saturday evening and they had a free table without us needing to wait! We got the seafood linguine, calamari and la fortuna pizza which were delicious and very flavourful! Tasted very homey and fresh. Our waitress Celissa was also super friendly, helpful and attentive! Would come back again.

We made a booking an hour before arrival and walked from Knightsbridge just to make it on time before we all got hungry. Upon arrival we were told there was amistake and the bookings wrmerent closed. We didn't just accept and of course 15 minutes later we got a table as people were leaving. Then we were left alone for ages because the same waitress was chatting at the table across and even after getting her attention she wouldn't come asap, knowing we were almost turned away, then made to wait for 15-20 minutes for our table. She also messed up the order, the first round almost everything in regards of the drinks. They ran out of one of the starters, one of the sauce for main, the pasta was overcooked, risotto on the salty side. On top we got an eyeroll from another waitress (can't remember what for) even though we took the bumps fairly well. Had to request the fan to be turned off twice, while the place was full of people with jackets on. Took another good 10-15 mins to get an espresso and the bill.

Went for dinner and had a lovely time, both of us had the homemade pasta and it was the best we had since being in Italy. The service was great and the waiter was extremely helpful and pleasant. I was a bit underwhelmed by the pistachio cake but everything else was fantastic. Highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for some quality pasta and service.

Food was great, service was very attentive, but stay for the dessert! It was the truly one of the best we have ever had. Also get the limoncello spritz!

I do not understand why this place has such a high rating. The food was average - pizza was ok, but the pizza base didn't have salt. Diavolo pizza was just pepperoni pizza with olives. But prices for the food are almost twice as much as in other places with better quality food.

We had a long flight and hadn’t eaten for awhile and walked by this gem of a restaurant on our way to our airbnb and immediately returned for dinner and were so lucky we did. The place was so charming. The food was spectacular, so tasty, and I wanted to try it all, but we managed two pasta dishes and a pizza and ate every delicious bite. Everyone was so friendly, and the Chefs hands must have been blessed by a Saint! So delicious!

I had the mushroom dish which was a little bland. The other vegetarian dish with tomatoes and pesto was delicious though. Interiors is very beautiful and cosy.

It felt like we were eating in someone's home. Quaint and decorated as I said like it was someone's home. The food was done in a style that you would expect in northern Italy. The pasta was fresh and certainly homemade. The specials were tiger prawns with shrimp garni. I had the special ribeye and substituted the carbonara for the roasted potatoes. I asked if it was possible to do that and the waiter said why wouldn't you want it that way! Loved that! Mushroom pappardelle was woodsy and wonderful! Get the poached pear and Mango gelato which is a great way to finish without going over the top, This restaurant has a 120 out of over 15,000 available places to eat. Need I say more...

The chef was absolutely incredible, the dishes that she recommended were absolutely delicious. This is our second time here. If you are coming to london it is a musttttt. Also she had my little brother help with the pizza which made him so happy

This place has a good, authentic atmosphere. The food was just decent and the wait times for some items was very long. Ordered a few non-alcoholic beers but they weren't in the fridge so they were warm and were served with a glass of ice. Staff were smoking at the entrance to the restaurant. I probably won't return.

Have been coming here for a while! The chef curates a list of specials each day made with incredibly fresh ingredients. The food is always amazing and never disappoints! Had the linguine with Tiger prawns and mussels + the risotto, everything is always cooked to perfection; there is a large selection of food on the menu, so many things to choose from. The restaurant has a lovely and homely touch! Definitely recommend if you want to have a proper classic Italian meal

Risotto was undercooked, with every bite sticking to your teeth. I’m Italian and have had risotto in Italy, and never had it undercooked like this, yet I was told this is how it’s supposed to be. There’s al dente and then there’s undercooking and they seem to be confused. Made no attempt to make it right. The pasta was also overcooked. Lots of restaurants in the area, I’d skip.

Found this little gem on Google maps, reviews looked good so we booked and I'm so glad we did! Definitely the best Italian meal I've had outside of Italy. The restaurant feels rustic and authentic. The quality of the ingredients are noticeable which have been prepared perfectly. As for the service...you arrive a customer and leave feeling like a friend! La Fortuna has made me miss my time living in Italy. Will definitely return!

Very intimate seating with friendly staff awaits you. The food was outstanding. Fresh pasta with many choices of sauce, including sausage and fennel, bolognese, and tomato. The langostino salad was excellent. Chef owned and operated. She’s a marvelous person who puts her heart and soul into presentations. Decent wine list, full bar service. Not far from Churchill Arms. Prices very fair. Would highly recommend.

I came here by chance and have returned over and over. The food is authentic and excellent, portions large. Pasta dishes are like being in Italy. Everything is fresh - salads, fish, etc. Chef Elsa turns out original, delicious specials every day. The service is attentive and friendly; the staff are always smiling. It is a delightful alternative to the "factory food" of nearby places like the Ivy. Highly recommended.

My first night in London and my local friends took me and my husband here for dinner. It was chef’s kiss delicious! We had pasta, calamari and the pistachio cake dessert and all of it was incredible. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for some great Italian food!

We had a fantastic meal at La Fortuna - flatbread pizza, carbonara, bolognese. It is in a great location off Kensington High Street. We sat in a table on the street and enjoyed great wine and friendly service. Will definitely go back!

Such an amazing restaurant. Elsa the owner and cook is exemplary and will make you whatever you would like - and I guarantee you will LOVE it! It is so hurtful to see a bad review from another person purely based on vindictiveness for not being given a table when they had not booked. This person then plays the race card as the reason for not being granted a table. This restaurant and its owners are, based on my experience, the most cosmopolitan, welcoming and non discriminatory restaurant I have known. It is therefore mean-hearted at best when an over-privileged person of colour spoils it for the rest of us by vocalising their indignation at not being given an impromptu table at one of London’s most desired restaurants purely based on colour - when in fact it was because they were fully booked and they had not booked. C’mon guys… take the higher ground and apologize for your vindictiveness.

Holy cannoli this place is really, really good. I had tagliatelle Picasso and *chefs kiss* 🤌 the staff is really friendly and the paintings really make this place a unique and special place.

Terrible service and rude people! Never go there. The reviews are not real at all. All images are similar, all reviews are similar. Real reviews show that these people are not very nice to the guests. See the lowest rated reviews and you will see the truth about this restaurant.

Horrible people! We are people of colour and the manager didn’t let us in!!! I can’t believe even an Italian person could do this!!! Don’t go there if you are not white! My husband and I have seen this restaurant’s good reviews on Google. Reviewed their menu today on site, in Kensington. We wanted to eat there but the manager (female at 50s) at door didn’t let us in. She asked if we have a booking. We said no but we would appreciate if there is an available seat for TWO PEOPLE. She refused us by saying that it is fully booked. I said OK. She answered so weirdly and repeated my answers. We felt that weird energy and left. Then a group of 9 WHITE PEOPLE CAME. Of course she let them in! This is nonsense. I don’t even believe that their Google reviews are real. Don’t go this place if you don’t want to face with discrimination and humiliation.
