La Forchetta in Tower Hamlets

Thought I’d write a review since this place wasn’t open last week when I wanted to eat there and really hope it opens again soon. I’ve been coming here for six years ever since I moved to the area with friends, my partner or even just by myself. My friends and I love it as a down to earth, independent Italian restaurant with fair prices - so hard to come by these days. Their food is great - pizza, pasta, crunchy Ceaser salad and nice house red too. I love the semi-old school decor. I threw a bday party here on a Friday evening once and service was amazing for such a large table.

We came here to celebrate my daugher's birthday before going to Astrology Bingo. I had penne pomodoro,it was nice but a little overpriced at £9.90!

Surprised that it is under new management. So not as homely as it has been, nonetheless still a place to go to. Menu remains much the same as does the wine list. However, the profiteroles have gone and will remain a happy memory. So pudding list not much to shout home about. Unless the profiteroles are restored. Staff still friendly though. Go and eat and try.

Mythical, typical Italian cuisine, all delicious, from pizza to dessert passing through the first and second courses. Prices as great as their dishes.

I booked this restaurant due to all the good reviews it had received and we were not disappointed. The staff were warm and friendly, the food was delicious and was served promptly. Despite being a slow lunch-time on a weekday, the place had a good atmosphere.

Nice restaurant, lovely food. Don't be put off as it was pretty empty the evening we were there. Would recommend and visit again.

As we arrived they were playing‘Congratulations’ at ear splitting level, really silly especially with young children present. Not much has changed with the new owners, they still have the boat! Food was ok, prices are higher, a pizza is now relatively expensive compared to other places. Service was friendly enough, the free olives were a nice touch but not enough of them for 4 people…. The Calzone wasn’t as good as before, maybe a slightly different pizza dough, it was a bit soggy. Wouldn’t rush to order that again.

Since this restaurant has changed ownership, the new forchetta has become one of my favourite restaurant in the area, I can surely say that the quality of the food has changed (in a better way) accompanied by a great customer service. Keep going like this ! For sure I will come back, and I recommend to everyone to give it a try! Cannot wait to go back there ;)

Excellent food, excellent value. Kind of strangely spread-out room that could be better designed but the meals were exceptional and wine was fine.

Almost like a shanty town on the inside , could do with a bit of life with the help of a paintbrush. Food is bang average no love being put into making the food at all especially with the price of food . Tables , chairs, flooring are all about 100 years old. Customer service was nice .

Been here twice now. The food is amazing, really fresh and authentic. The atmosphere is great and all at such an affordable price. My favourite Italian spot in London.

Super Italian food (we had spaghetti carbonara and pizza) . My son said it was the best carbonara he’s had and he’s had quite a few. We were served by Sabah, who was courteous and polite, but also showed he had a sense of humour - even in these trying times! Good luck in these challenging times.

This is a lovely little local restaurant. We took visiting family members for lunch and everyone enjoyed their meals, which ranged from simple pizzas to risotto and steak. The food was piping hot and hard to finish because the portions were so generous! The staff were all lovely, offered us a really warm welcome and even gave us an extra large portion of cake to share to make up for the fact that a couple of items from the dessert menu were out of stock.

We stopped by for a nice dinner and were not disappointed! The staff is lovely and friendly, quick and attentive service, and the food was delicious. Good portions and more than fair pricing for what you get. Will definitely return when we're in the area again!

I came for a lunch time, place was pretty empty, came by myself. The server and bartender both seemed pretty nice. I ended going for a pizza, profiteroles and lemonade. Granted this place doesn’t have the finest food London has to offer, but if your looking for a decent meal at a decent price then you really can’t go wrong here!

We sampled pizza, pasta and homemade desserts: all very tasty. There is an authentic feel to the place too with the no-nonsense decor, black and white film pictures on the wall, the waiters quietly chatting to themselves in Italian (or was it Napolitan?).

My friend and I have visited here several times since moving to the area and have loved it every time - the food is delicious and the waiters are all very friendly. The “Waiter” was worse than Basil Fawlty. Rude, aggressive, impatient and impatient. I did not want to insult my friend by walking out, as she suggested eating there.

We had pasta dishes that were all to our satisfaction. However, the service was not top notch. The waiter almost seemed a bit drunk. He could not give recommendation, since he said he only liked the pasta bolognese off the menu. Another waiter also spread parmesan cheese all over our plates without asking first.

We went here whilst staying in Bethnal Green for a few days. We were quite early so there was hardly any customers. I managed to break a wine glass with the menu but they were good about it, moving us to another table whilst they swept up the broken glass.

We were recommended this place by a local pub as we were looking for a meal after 10pm. The staff were friendly and we didn’t feel at all rushed even though we arrived only an hour before closing. The place had a lovely atmosphere and the food was excellent with huge portions and a varied menu. We had a garlic pizza bread to start and tuna nicoise, both delicious.

So came with a friend today and ordered a steak and pasta. My friend got the pasta and he is vegetarian. When we asked for a vegeterian alternative to parmesan on top he kept insisting that ALL parmesan is vegetarian and that he knows best because he is italian.

To be totally honest . I’ve never had such a terrible pizza in all of my life ! I ordered a caprichosa and got some thing dry, Spartan and disgusting served to me . The place was so disinterested with the customers I could not even be bothered to complain and left without even hVkng a mouthful such was the unappetising look of the dried “pizza” that was out in front of me . Dreadful . Terrible .

Ate here on my own whilst down for business as I was staying in the city view hotel around the corner. Food was average for an Italian, I had the cheesy garlic bread to start and carbonara for main, both were ok but I feel it’s a quantity or quality place. I ended up with so much more food than expected that I had to leave half of my main(no complaints on amount of food!).

A locally owned Italian restaurant that really hits the spot. My partner and I moved to Bethnal Green about 4 years ago and we’ve frequented La Forechetta almost monthy, usually for the £7.50 lunchtime special! The portions are huge, the food tasty and the atmosphere is great, nice and relaxed. In my opinion it’s the best Italian in East London and I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant is fairly big and was about half full. Despite that the old pictures on the wall and the decor give off a good atmosphere. The Carbonara was really good and the Calzone could have fed an army. The Tribbiano house wine was a bit rough but improved with each sip. The service was good and friendly and prices are reasonable

Très DÉÇU!!! Le vin était chaud comme une soupe, aucune luminosité, le serveur a commis plusieurs erreur de commande et l’ambiance n’était pas au rendez-vous comme dit sur ce site.. je ne recommande pas cette assiette si vous souhaitez passer un bon moment avec vos amis, familles etc..

I've been going here for years and keep coming back. The food is delicious and rival anything I've eaten in Italy itself. Serving sizes are generous, especially for entrees, and the staff friendly. House wine is very good. They have lunch specials for pizza/ pasta with a drink. Their evening set menu is also great and changes seasonally. Fantastico!

Popped in for a quick bite to eat before comedy club around the corner. We had the Americano & Buffala pizzas which were both very nice and reasonably priced.

Me había pasado este granero de un lugar un par de veces pero nunca ido ya que parecía ser un poco demasiado inauthentic. Soy italiano y así odio ir a los restaurantes que sirven pizza italiana, empapados y carnes excesivamente blanda pasta sauced.

Mi novio solía vivir en Bethnal Green, así que venga aquí a menudo para cenar. Nos hemos movido lejos ahora, pero en cualquier momento estamos en Londres nos intenta hacer tiempo para una comida aquí. No es un lugar lujoso, pero la comida es deliciosa y el personal es siempre muy amable y servicial. Es una experiencia italiana muy auténtico y nos encanta. No puedo recomendar lo suficiente.

Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 6 Personen im "La Forchetta" essen. Das Restaurant war zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch nicht gut gefüllt. Daher hatten wir schon etwas bedenken, aber das Essen war super lecker. Von Spaghetti bis hin zur Pizza war alles wirklich sehr gut zubereitet. Auch das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war hervorragend. Kann ich nur ausdrücklich empfehlen!

Been here a few times, all times with family and it’s been a very nice experience with nice food, however my wallet has always felt quite a but lighter afterwards. Yes the food was nice (when nit smothered in cheese - you can actually ask for food without cheese), but it is a tad pricey. Desserts are also yummy and the staff very friendly. Been living in London for 7 months now and this is by far the worst meal I have had. Who knows what mysterious animal was in the sandwich served to me? Only one thing is sure - it had a sad life and did not deserve this fate.The bun was surprisingly stale, having been stored in the fridge and still cold to touch. The owner also decided to add an additional 2 pound charge at the end, for lettuce and tomato. Both of which were days past their best.I implore every individual to not rob themselves of a nicer lunch – and try any other local establishment. Especially during the working week, where there is so much amazing food with markets on. Heck even the Pret across the road would be better.

I come here maybe once every few months, i wish it was more often. I have only visited in the day for lunch and the place is quiet. Don't let that put you off as it is not a sign that things are not well! We have ordered food here in advance for small parties and they get nothing wrong. Yesterday we turned up with party of 5 and ordered from the menu. We had main meals and some of us chose the main and soft drink deal which is good. Fantastic choice of pasta, seafood, rice dishes, salads. I have eaten the seafood pasta several times and it is as good as anything in a top seafood eatery. The portions are huge and lovingly crafted. Every time we order the dishes they are presented slightly differently and maybe the odd ingredient has been missed off or substituted but that is fine, it is always great. They don't skimp on ingredients. Staff friendly and fun and enjoy banter. Decor is a bit jaded but I always feel that i am on holiday and it is about as far away from Bethnal Green's grubby high street as you can get. I really feel transported to the Mediterranean. I bet it is a real destination in the evenings, some tasteful live music would be great addition or maybe some nice piped music. Please support this jewel in the rough. Great value if you are hungry and food feels fresh and home cooked to order. Not sure the hygiene rating though and this is a minor worry but it all looks clean enough and I've never had upset stomach after a visit. Huge pizza, huge plated salads and pastas.

La pasta é veramente buona. Diverse opzioni. Veramente consigliata.Per quanto riguarda la pizza ho chiesto una pizza con " mozzarella buffalo" é arrivata una normale margherita con 4 pezzi piccolissimi di mozzarella cruda sopra la margherita.E qui non sorride nessuno.

Went here one lunchtime in August when visiting London. The place had no-one in as it had just opened for the day but took a gamble and was impressed. Lovely food at a reasonable price, coffee was nice too.

I was in the neighbourhood any way, looking for something to eat. Was first om my way to the McD, till I stumbled on this place. It looks cavernous, and dark, but since I came for something to eat, I didnt really care.I took the lasagna, which was delicious and pine apple juice, which tasted great. Really a nice place for a quick bite with friendly staff.

Al dente perfection made with love, this is that rarest of gems in London where the food is made with love and you can taste it a huge space with retro70's decor there is a reason this place is still open they serve really good food at rodiculously low price if you are a hipster looking for the latest thing forget it but if you have eaten in Italy you will immediately love this gem a family run restaurant where the food is made with love and the pasta is al dente I think you can judge Italian food by their carbonara A bad one is terrible but a good one is hard to make and delightful the carbonara here is YUM!
