La Famiglia Restaurant in Trafford

Really not a great experience. We live locally so decided to try the restaurant out after it's recent exterior renovation, from the get go we went in were seated and were completely ignored for at least 15 minutes, no menu nothing to even look at. The restaurant was not overly busy either at this point. Finally someone on the way past went have you ordered? To which we said no we don't have menus. After getting menus we waited again to order anything then ordered wine which they did not have. We ordered our food, which we asked all dishes to come at the same time (including the starter) the starter was brought over early which was fine but then plates and condiments were taken away when not finished with, without even asking us, fingers were put inside glasses when grabbing to refill, we could see members of staff walking in and out of the kitchen eating, while prepping deserts and starters and dropping bits of food onto. The filling of the main was definitely pre-frozen as it had not reached the same temperature as the rest of it and was grainy and hard to eat. We could see the tubs of ice cream and sauce being used for deserts which were cheap brands from supermarkets - being portrayed on the menu as more luxury with higher prices than should have been. There were meringues out uncovered with flies on them, then being served to customers. After finishing our mains we immediately asked for the bill to which we got a grunted "yes", 15 minutes pass and no bill was brought. We then asked someone else for the bill, 10 minutes pass and no bill (the staff were chatting elsewhere). At this point we were completely done with the place and needed out - would not recommend put a damper on the little time my partner and I get to spend together.

Absolutely love this place, we have been visiting for over 11. Staff, food, atmosphere are all fantastic and the owners remember you even if you only visit once a year when visiting from over seas!

Absolutely amazing food in the most characterful restaurant in Hale! The owner, Pilione is an absolute joy! He’s also an unbelievable chef and the most brilliant host!! Honestly, this is without question the best and most authentic Italian restaurant in all of The Hale/Altrincham area!!

Such a lovely, warm and relaxed atmosphere as well as good food and generous portions; proper Italian hospitality. Have just been for a big family birthday meal and couldn't have been nicer, especially with young children. Staff so friendly. This is always my go to italian in the village, have personally never understood why people opt for Cibo, i have always found it a little pretentious and the food average.

Best Italian in Hale, people go to Cibo to be seen, but the food here is much much better and tastier. The atmosphere is chilled and friendly and you’re not rushed.

Must have picked a bad night. So disappointed and it ruined my husband and my evening out. It was busy so made allowances for that but the customer service was shocking. Ended up leaving after an hour of waiting for our starters. Only got to eat a couple of Olives so can’t comment on the food. My complaint is poor communication we were left alone. The bottle of wine we ordered didn’t arrive but the young waiter noticed we did not have any drinks or food for that matter on our table and so took a second order for the wine. It arrived unlike the food. The icing on the cake was watching two tables of four who arrived about 40 minutes after us get their starters. I asked where ours were and was told there had been a problem but it was coming. I had only ordered olives as my starter. Then we waited a further 10 mins (the Olives were brought out after asking) but the cod cheeks were no where to be seen. We decided to pay for the drinks we had and leave. I explained that I was disappointed that they had not communicated earlier that they had a problem with the starter and was told by the same person who told me there was a problem that there wasn’t a problem. So he lied I guess. By now I was really fed up with his attitude. They charged us £25 for a bottle of house wine that we had only had one glass each out of. So I asked for the cork to take it with us as was not going to pay £25 for a couple of glasses of cheap wine. (Googled it a £4 bottle of house wine for £25!! ) We had had two glasses of champagne whilst waiting for our table so paid for those too. Where is customer service now a days. First visit to this restaurant and nothing about the service has persuaded me to go back and give it another try. Oh well you live and learn.

We were booked in to meet relatives for lunch. They were travelling and were massively late. La Famiglia couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. They kept our booth for us for the afternoon and wouldn't take payment for the drink we had whilst waiting until we returned later and they put it on the final bill. The service and food was fabulous when the family finally arrived. 100% will be going back.

Lovely attentive service and really good food! Reasonably priced also with lovely interior, piped music and open roof conservatory right at the back. Despetively spacious once inside. Small bar area to the right and restraunt to the left either side of entrance that goes much further back than expected once inside 👍🏻 Am not in a wheel chair but suspect it should be managable and accesable as all on the same level and wide enough walkways. There was a V next to a number of dishes but did not pursue. Menu downloadable in PDF from there website.

Most authentic Italian restaurant in the area.

Visiting the area and tried out La Famiglia. Wow, what a discovery. Excellent by any measurement. Fancied a combination of two pasta dishes on the menu but with a bit of spice and that is exactly what arrived, the chef is very good. Our host and staff were attentive and efficient. Only problem is that I live 200 miles away.

Really really disappointing. Waited over an hour for starter, which we flagged up. When the food finally did come we were offered no apology, it was just plonked down aggressively on the table in front of us. Mushroom starter was at best bland, at worst bordering on inedible. Steak was tender but undercooked and accompanying sauce really not great - again mushrooms. For an authentic Italian restaurant I would expect much much more.

The staff here are always lovely and the food is really nice. A very pleasant evening and reasonably priced. Looking forward to returning soon.

Highly recommend food is excellent the owner and staff welcoming cocktails are first class and my friends and I are very particular never had a mediocre experience in years they are always will to adapt the menu to your liking most definitely my fav place to eat true authentic Italian food

Best Italian in the area by a mile. Eaten here on numerous occasions and always had a great experience. The food is exceptional everytime, there is always a great atmosphere and Pino and his staff make the experience very personal & unique.

I would leave zero stars if I could. The food is mediocre for the price and to make it even worse it is not even close to authentic. You should not call yourself a Italian restaurant. The vibe, attitude, and food feels ridiculously whitewashed. I felt like I was paying to be on a lunch break in an office job with an utterly rude boss

Found a lovely Italian Restaurant last night, right opposite the train station in Hale. It was delightful. Authentically Italian, the food, the wine and the service was 1st class. Well worth the visit and one I'll be repeating !

Food Was Horrible My Girlfriend Xara Got Hurt Off Italy Owner

Without a doubt the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life. I asked the staff member for penne arrabiata with prawns and asked for a good portion of prawns, it came with only 4 so I asked the staff member why it only came with 4, so asked for more. The bill at the end charged an additional £21.50 for 8 prawns! This does not include the penne price as that was a separate price of £10 (so total £31.50). I questioned this and the owner who had clearly had a few drinks became very dry aggressive and started calling me cheap and shouting at me in front of all of the other guest at the restaurant and said I don’t understand quality food. He then started shouting out loud that I wasn’t paying for my meal (which was not true I only asked what I was being charged for 2 meals as it was written out as £17.50 and £14.50 when I only had 1) and he then became very aggressive and close so I paid and left, he then swore at me as I left and then followed me out of the shop down Hale Road calling me a Cheap. It was the most disgusting experience of my life and no one should ever go there or be treated like that! I have no issue paying for some prawns goodness me but don’t be so rude or aggressive, I have a right to ask! And his staff should know the portion sizes!!! Worst service ever!

Excelente restaurante italiano

We have been eating regularly at La Famiglia since it first opened (in Hale Barns nearly 20 years ago) and can honestly say that we have never had a bad meal. The menu is extensive and there are always excellent specials. The best Italian restaurant in this country, in my experience. Lovely people and great service.

Good food and good pinto Moretti! They don't have a kids menu but will try and accommodate you, never had an issue with this.

If I could give this place a 0 star I would. Really unhappy with the quality of the food. The bill was £300. The soup was awful. Owner is aggressive. I have had better steaks from Aldi. The chips was undercooked. The chicken was tough. Hair in my food. Honestly the list is endless. Without a doubt this restaurant is at the bottom of the list compared to other restaurants in the area.

Quite noisy place. Linguine was good. Ribs were terrible- did not look or taste like fresh cooked, very dry. Tuna in another linguine dish tasted like from tin rather than fresh cooked. Food serving Farley slow - had to wait about 35mins after finishing starter until main course served. Sorry, but will not return. Got better place in Hale to have Italian.

Absolutely fantastic evening with my two best friends. We visited on Friday evening. Great atmosphere, friendly, efficient members of staff. Two of us have different food allergies, which was discussed with the waitress, who assured us that having discussed it with the chef, that there wouldn't be a problem as each dish is cooked from scratch. The food was delicious. We are looking forward to a return visit soon

La famiglia is my favourite restaurant to eat out at! The staff are all so attentive and the food is absolutely amazing! I come here often and it's Perfect for any occasion! Birthdays, nice lunches, celebratory dinners . my experience has always been amazing and the staff make sure you have everything you need and they properly take care of you! Love this place. Would reccomend every time!

This must be the best restaurant in the competitive village of Hale. This restaurant is simply streets ahead of all the rest. Four of us had dinner. We all ordered something different and we wish we had ordered our partners! Next time we go there, we will order what each other had! We could not believe how good is was.

What a lovely restaurant. A warm, family feel. I had the veal chop, (not on the menu, the owner recommended it). Beautifully cooked. Every course was made with obvious care and attention. Absolutely recommended.

Just came back from this hidden gem of a restaurant for a Fathers Day meal! Food is fabulous and had not long to wait! I had Linguine Alla Puttanesca, and my wife had the Seafood Risotto, which she say's the best ever had!! with Bruschetta Romana as a starter. Owners are delightful and welcoming and staff not to fault we will be returning for my wife's birthday and recommend to anyone who enjoys a traditional Italian meal to eat here.

We visted on a busy saturday night.The service was friendly and attentive,the food was good and served at a measured timely pace,not rushed.The only thing that had spoiled our evening was a rowdy/rude group who wanted to make a scene,not sure what happenened but the lovely owners called the police.We have re-booked for next week and looking forward to another great night.

We waited two hours for our mains..... which never turned up! We asked repeatedly if they were on their way. Finally we had had enough and asked for the bill. The owner/owners wife had a poor attitude to our view on why we wanted to leave and were rude. Shocking service considering we were a party of 14, we should been their priority for the evening. Completely let down by the evening. A shame because Iv eaten their before and had a lovely meal.

So many times I have been disappointed by Italian restaurants in Hale Village. La Famiglia however didn't disappoint! The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and very attentive. There was a slight wait whilst the table was prepared but we were quite happy sat chatting and drinking in the bar area. The choice and variety of meals on the menu and specials board was great - everyone in the group had plenty of choice. The food was excellent. Everyone left the restaurant delighted with their choices and full to the brim, as the portion sizes are very generous. It was a lovely sunny day and we sat in the conservatory at the back of the restaurant with the canopy roof open - it was fabulous. My only criticism would that the extraction fan for the kitchen was a little noisy and occasionally we felt a little rushed by some of the staff. Would we recommend La Famiglia? Absolutely! And we will return again soon to sample more of their delicious sounding dishes!

Bit noisy but lovely food and good service

Never experienced poor customer service quite like it. Restaurant never explained they had a time limit on the table and took their time to take orders. Manager made it clear we had over stayed our welcome after 2 hours in front of other diners as he wanted table back for other guests. Appalled for my guests on how they were treated and will not repeat the experience. Extremely poor service. Food was average.

We just love La Famiglia. The owners and the staff are truly amazing and the food is fabulous and authentic. The restaurant is always warm and friendly and as the saying goes ‘you can only have one Italian’ and La Famiglia is our favourite all the time. We dine out a lot in the normal world, going to Michelin star restaurants, but we just love La Famiglia for its beautiful food, beautiful staff and beautiful restaurant. A huge thank you to Pino, Patricia & your fabulous team for looking after us always and especially during this year given these very tough times.

Previously had a table booked for November 30th but due to the new lockdown, changed to November 4th at 7 PM. Making and changing the booking was simple, requested a table via the website and got a call back within 24 hours to confirm. The restaurant is located opposite to the train station in Hale so that car park is available to park at a cost, if there's any spaces. We ended up parking about 5 minute walk away on a residential street. Upon entry into the restaurant we were greeted by a friendly host (can't recall name) and advised to wait in the bar area since we were 10 minutes early for our booking. We didn't get seated until 19:20 although people had came and been seated without a reservation. Food order was taken at around 19:35 and from then on this is where the evening took a turn. The starter came out around 19:45-19:50 which is expected although it was overloaded with garlic. The mains still weren't here by 20:55, to which case we asked the waiter to cancel the mains and just bring the bill. I'm adamant our mains were taken to the wrong table considering waiters didn't seem to have assigned sections. Another big sticking point given the current climate was the lack of COVID-19 procedures. They supplied hand sanitizer on the tables which is great, but the restaurant is taking tables at full capacity so the gaps between tables were not sufficient and even worse when the waiters need to take orders. We had several tables come and go during our time there and the tables were literally just washed with a rag, no disinfectant or anything was used. The only three positives of the night is that the restaurant décor looks amazing, the atmosphere is great and the friendly reception upon entry. It's a real shame as this was supposed to be a birthday celebration and we chose here based on the reviews & recommendation from a friend.

We arrived at the restaurant at 6:45 having a 7pm reservation, got told to wait in the bar area whilst they got our table ready, no problems. An owner of the restaurant kept walking through to take drinks to tables and while doing so was very rude, abrupt and patronising to the young guy working behind the bar. Eventually at 7:30 we were seated, however people without bookings walked straight in and were seated straight away! It took a good 20 minutes before someone came over and took our order. We waited, and waited and waited. Starters arrived we had the garlic bread with cheese. It was disgustingly oily and greasy. Mains were nowhere to be seen. We were seated in the conservatory area and everyone seated their complained how cold it was, nothing was done about this. 9pm came and we still hadn't received our main meals. I understand and appreciate that sometimes there is a wait which is absolutely fine but when a table next to us had arrived and had drinks starters and mains within the half an hour they had been seated this isn't acceptable. We had no 'sorry there is a wait it wont be long' we had nothing, I called the owner of the restaurant over and asked for the bill, it was 9:10 at this point. The owner said he would go and check on our food and I explained that we had waited that long that we didn't even want it anymore. In the time we were waiting for our food the 3 tables that asked for their checks were all wrong, one table had asked for their check 3 times! A table seated next to us but inside were regulars, all the attention was on them, asked if they wanted anymore drinks several times, food came straight away, it felt like if you weren't a regular or spending a lot of money that they didn't really care. Out of all the staff that were working that night I can say only 2 of the waitresses were polite. It seemed like the staff had no clue of where each table was at, they were all over the place, some sort of order needed to be in place such as giving so many tables to each waitress/waiter. COVID-19 Safety. Not all staff were wearing masks, there was absolutely no social distancing measures in place and one table didn't even get wiped down before the next customers were seated. The tables that did get wiped didn't have chairs wiped/menus wiped or the salt and pepper shakers on the tables, however you do get a bottle of hand sanitiser, I guess that comes in handy when your surroundings aren't cleaned properly, only if your bottle of hand sanitiser is usable though, of course ours was broken. From walking through the door at 6:45pm to walking out the door at 9:15pm without having being fed our main meals it was appalling, disgusting and utterly disgraceful from the cleanliness to the attitude of the staff, I will never be returning and certainly won't be recommending this place to anyone I know.
