La cucina cafe and tapas bar in The Vale of Glamorgan

We eat in their often very friendly staff very quick with ordering food and delivering food to the table the food is excellent I do think they should open in the evening with tapas food and cocktails would be ideal for everyone to them

This restaurant prices meals high and does not deliver quality or value for money . We ordered scampi in Thermidor sauce. It arrived on oval plate with small tower of dried up rice and around 9 small deep fried scampi in batter , covereD with runny thin sauce. No garnish, no effort at presentation, nothing! Did not look appetising and little taste. Also pizza with burned base and tough to cut. Tried to pick up and bite but really hard. We were disgusted with this restaurants attitude and little care in its food or it’s customers. We paid and left as it was not welcoming, staff were inattentive , no one asked if the food was ok- they probably knew it wasn’t and served it anyway .

Not sure where to start! However, came away feeling angry, frustrated and bewildered. Visited for breakfast and decided to have an omelette with mushrooms and cheese, when it was finally brought to the table the greasy yet congealed cheese was floating on top of the omelette. I attempted a taste which turned my stomach leaving me with no appetite at all. I raised this when paying the bill expecting at least an apology. Instead much to my disbelief I was given a gob full of abuse about how I had received what I’d ordered and that they’d never received complaints about it previously. When I tried to explain what I didn’t like about it the server behind the counter had no idea what or how to provide customer service. I would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND this eatery not even to my worst enemy!!!

I called in here for lunch. The hummus, olive, onion and spinach panini was well presented and came with a salad garnish and homemade coleslaw. It wasn’t clear if there was table service or if you had to order at the counter, and the staff didn’t seem interested in whether I was there or not. I won’t be rushing back.

Went with a few other mums and our children for a warm treat on a cold afternoon. Coffee pretty weak and untasty. We ordered waffles for the kids...they were cheap mass produced rubbish and totally burnt. What a waste of money...surely a waffle iron is necessary if you are selling waffles in a cafe?! The owner seems friendly enough but after a few very mediocre visits I won't be returning.

Great menu ranging from cooked breakfasts, paninis, jackets to Mediterranean tapas. Being a vegetarian, the staff are great to accommodate and recommend great meals and light bites. I particularly enjoy patatas Bravas from the tapas menu and veggie version of eggs Benedict (made with hash brown instead of bacon) for brunch. Great coffee and flavoured syrups of all kind, I love the cafe miel with honey. The day menu can be 'jazzed' up and it's great to be able to enjoy wine and cocktails at any time you visit (expresso martini my fave!) I feel like I want to pick the shop up and place it in a cute side ally in Italy or Spain or Cyprus, as that's the vibe I get once I'm inside, which makes it a little hidden gem in the heart of barry town centre (great for shopping pit shops!)

This is one of my favourite places for lunch. A large menu to choose from. The food is freshly cook for you with “specials” on a daily basis. Nice seating arrangements. All in all a very pleasant experience.

I came here on a spur of the moment lunch with an old friend and was so, so surprised. From the outside, I had no idea that the place existed but once inside it felt cosy and had a very friendly vibe. Food was delicious, the 30. panini and a Vanilla Latte went down a treat and I’ve never been served so fast anywhere. Nothing wrong at all here, looking forward to coming back soon!

Terrible place had a bad belly the next day. found the staff not very helpfull . Had something not nice sitting in the soup. Expensive for the quality much nicer places to go closeby. Very dissapointed

What can I say? The photo says it all. The chicken salad was fantastic. Recommended as a lunch venue. We will try the tapas soon!!!!!

My favourite place in Barry in the main street , Holton Road for morning coffee . The espresso is excellent and the service both courteous and friendly. There are tempting pastries and several British and Continental home made dishes available . Cooked breakfasts are also served as well as sandwiches/panini. A good address to add to your listings.

Friends booked this for an evening out. When we arrived we started to select tapas, but were told it was a fixed menu at £20 per head. Although most of the food was acceptable, I wouldn't class chips, fried mushrooms, hummus, pitta bread or pate as real tapas! The amount of food was insufficient for the size of the party we were with. However, the saving grace was R&D and co providing the entertainment which was great. Good night but some improvement is needed if this is to cater for real tapas lovers.

Love meeting my daughter here, you can guarantee as you walk through the door you feel the tranquility. The service is laid back but the food is wonderful, love their paninis, so full of flavour perfect for a lunch time meal. Beautiful cappuccinos served here too.

I love the atmosphere in La Cucina, all the staff are very helpful and polite. The food is delicious and very inexpensive.

Attentive lovely staff amazing food and cocktails. Best prawns and calamari I've had for along while and I often go to Spain. Must try you won't be disappointed.!!!

Love the live music nights here once a month. My favourite place at the moment. Such a good atmosphere and great cocktails!

Live little place in the high street. Stopped on our way to the train station . Staff were pleasant and the place Was clean. The panini was ok , just a bit too much melted cheese, but partner really enjoyed is triple sandwich.

On saturday night we enjoyed another fantastic visit here. The atmosphere is amazing i realy enjoy the live music on last saturday of the month. Lovely food attentive staff.

We fancied something different for lunch so we thought we would give it a try.

Thoroughly enjoyed the tapas at Cucina last night. Excellent food ans service. Will definitely return.

My friend and I had a lovely lunch here, the food is wonderful and excellent value. A large selection of foods on the menu, surprisingly for a small cafe. The panini I choose was beautiful, very well presented. There are tapas available as well as the usual daily specials. Will definitely being visiting again. The waitress was great , very pleasant and happy in nature.

On saturday our family went here and had a fantastic time. Tapas and cocktails as a birthday treat. Fantastic food.lovely staff. Fantastic atmosphere. Everyone loved it.

Visited La Cucina with my husband for the 1st time last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely evening with a great atmosphere, beautiful food and spot on service. Would definitely recommend and cant wait to return.
