La Croissanterie in Oxford

My partner and I were in Oxford for 2 days and was delighted with both breakfast and lunch. Behind the delicious menu is a family whose warm hospitality only made the experience a whole lot more than simple home-cooked meals. So, if home sounds like the next place you might want to be for your next tea break, this is absolutely the place to go!

Cannot understand some of the bad reviews we regularly travel from Banbury for coffee and baguette and the service and quality are second to none. The couple that run it are always pleasant and enjoy a chat. The price of the food/drink is comparable with other places. Please do not be put off by bad comments just visit for yourselves and soak up the friendly atmosphere and delicious food especially the pastries.

I don’t normally leave reviews but we were so shocked at how expensive and rude they were here, I felt I had to! We took our 5 month old and 3 year old for some late breakfast/ brunch here- and as soon as we arrived we were told to move to an area by ourselves as the owner seemed nervous about children being in his cafe. We ordered some simple food; spinach pastry, a croissant, a cheese omelette and 2 coffees. I tried to pay as we ordered but he wouldn’t let me, saying we must pay at the end. The food was fine but small and basic. We were then charged £30!!! The tiny shreds of lettuce they had chosen to add to our plate apparently cost £2.90 each and they’d added all sorts of other hidden costs because we were ‘sitting in’. When we questioned the bill, the owner wasn’t able to show us a breakdown of the cost and the woman owner said we didn’t have to come back if it was too expensive for us. We won’t return! We don’t mind places charging what they like but they were so sneaky about it!

We love this cafe. Doesnt look much from outside but beautiful decor with Moroccan ceramics etc inside. Decent range of baguettes etc plus some middle eastern mezze, spinach pie, baklava etc and delicious Moroccan mint tea. Worth popping in for lunch or tea when in Headington. Nice and homely.

Very expensive, poor value and moderate quality food and drink. £6.50 for a piece of spinach pie. !! Staff also quite grumpy. No surprise they get negative reviews

My family and I were told to leave because we had a guide dog with us. When I explained that they were discriminating against me based on my disability they were rude and ushered me out. THIS IS ILLEGAL AND I WILL BE REPORTINH YHEM.

Three of us went to have breakfast in oxford. I’ve tried many places as I often work in oxford but was surprisingly, hugely disappointed with the service and food at this restaurant/cafe. Greeted with barely a hello, didn’t want to seat out or assist it felt like. We got the feeling they would rather us not be there to be honest. I kindly asked the server if I could have what appeared to be a full English on all their online pictures, he abruptly said no. We ordered an omelette from the menu. It was a two egg omelette laid out on a plate. We need to eat again within the next hour, waste of time and waste of money. Expected so much more as manners and a smile cost nothing. Food 1/10 . Give it a miss guys.

Been here a few times and it was friendly but this time I had my laptop and “only” wanted a coffee. They were super unfriendly and said they “do not like people like me who sit doing work all day” (actually I was there for an hour and had 2 coffees). Unbelievable and short sighted rudeness as I will go elsewhere

Awful dry food and even worse customer service! Poached eggs came out hard on dry toast (£10.50). I politely asked if I could have the eggs runny the woman’s dismissive response was “no’ that’s just how they are”! She is very rude to her customers. Her employee looked frightened of her when I at first asked him about the eggs. I didn’t eat it and just left. I wouldn’t advise anyone to waste their money in there.

Awful customer service! Went to buy sandwiches and hot drinks for the family. I asked for 2 hot drinks but was given 1. When I realised I was far so I called and the gentleman said you forgot it! We drove back to hear that they didn’t charge us! They could not tell us on the phone? The gentleman was happy to give us a tea but the lady said no! Poor service and expensive place! 2 paninis, 1 empty baguette and a hot chocolate for more than £16.50!

Good tea!! People are very friendly…, If you have time, it is something for on your bucketlist!!!!!!

Very good food, very nice people. There are many options. I liked it very much. The baklava was very tasty.

2 pan au chocolait and 1 small pot of mint see almost £15. For that price the cakes should be fresh but unfortunately didnt taste it.

Came here for breakfast and we were able to sit outside and relax in the sun in their terrace. Shared one breakfast between us which was ample and a pleasantly different take on the meal. Coffee was also good. Service friendly and helpful. I like it because it is a unique independent cafe- not just another chain outlet.

Very nice little cafe. The chocolate milkshake is a must! Apple strudel is very good too. We will be back for lunch in a few hours :)

We stumbled upon this cafe as we were waiting to have our car repaired in Headington, and how pleased we were. Excellent food, friendly staff, and great value. We are already planning a return visit.

£6.50 for a very small omelette (smallest I've been served for years) then asked for bread. Small white baguette given, no butter, charged £2. Sorry to say I felt ripped off. The service lacked warmth. I realise times are hard but the food cost 70 or 80p max, that's one hell of a mark up and it doesn't cost anything to make you feel welcome. I won't be coming back

Two Cappuccinos and Two eggs Benedict Royale cost us £22+ pleasant enough and and served within a reasonable time but we thought that was very expensive.

I ordered soup with bread and when it arrived it was literally crawling with ants! I asked for a refund and noticed that the cake cabinet also had lots of ants. As we were packing up our things to the leave the manager came out, i assumed he was going to apologise but he told us to f**k off and never come back!

Spotted this cafe as I was driving past. Turned out to be an ideal spot for a meeting and late lunch. Well filled Ciabatta (no trimmings??) Great coffee!

Great for breakfast or lunch. Home-made food, very tasty. Nice to sit outside on a warm and and watch the world go by.

Aparecimos aquí para el brunch cuando visitamos localmente.Algo decepcionante. Mi panini era bastante pequeño, destinado a ser pollo marroquí Tagine pero parecía ser pollo marroquí con algunas aceitunas adicionales. El pan plano de pollo de Marruecos de mi esposa era, bueno, un pequeño cuadrado de pan plano con un poco de pollo.Latte's eran sabrosos pero la leche estaba sobrecalentada y por lo tanto demasiado caliente.Es un entorno agradable y las opciones de menú eran diferentes e interesantes pero, bueno, simplemente decepcionó.

De très bons produits cuisinés devant vous à La Croissanterie. Gros point noir : un dimanche matin à 9h30, le choix est assez limité car il y a beaucoup de monde le samedi et un certain nombre de choses sur la carte ne sont plus disponibles. Dommage...

A lovely local cafe, yummy food reasonably priced. Always support your local high street where you can.

Recordamos habernos detenido aquí para tomar un café después de conducir desde Southend a Oxford. Parecía atractivo, y así lo demostró. Avancemos un año y regresamos al área de Oxford el fin de semana pasado para una estadía de dos noches. Habíamos reservado una habitación en el Premier Inn en la carretera de circunvalación de Oxford. Queríamos volver a La Croissanterie y decidimos desayunar allí los dos días. Y qué delicia fue. Ambos tuvimos el salmón ahumado sobre pan tostado y cubierto con dos huevos escalfados.

Gran cafetería con una maravillosa selección de comida, parece ser con una influencia francesa / norteafricana. Mi pareja le encanta ir allí para el desayuno. Buen café / excelentes paninis, etc. - si el clima está bien, es un gran lugar para sentarse afuera y ver pasar el mundo (Headington, East Oxford).

We popped in and were pleasantly surprised by the choice of menu. We both ate a generously-filled ciabatta off the specials board, but the Turkish food looked delicious too.

Parecía un lugar perfecto para hacer eso,El servicio fue muy amable, sin embargo no me sentí bienvenido allí. Me sentí apurado, y aunque el lugar no estaba ocupado en ese momento, sentí que debía apresurarme justo después de terminar mi plato.El café era de calidad media, el croissant no era fresco (aún está bien para comer) y la comida carecía de especias y carácter distintivo. Huevos Royale sabía bien, sin embargo Shakshouka fue un gran gran decepción. No parecía ni sabía nada como shakshouka.

Great coffee, tasty paninis and cakes. Nice to be able to sit outside and watch the world go by... Quick and friendly service - will definitely be returning soon!

Called in for lunch and loved this place. It serves a mixture of Moroccan food and standard cafe favourites like panini sandwiches and milkshakes. Best baklava I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommended.

Extremely rude staff. They made a mistake in my order twice and then shouted at me for eating the wrong food! The way they treat customers is disgraceful!

Popped in here a few times recently for a pot of tea and something to eat. Great outdoor comfortable seating, very cosy inside and always a great welcome. Good range of fillings for sandwiches and plenty of dessert options.

Si quieres un café y un cruasán, estarás muy feliz aquí. Para un desayuno más abundante, me decepcionó un poco - pequeñas raciones, limitada y precio muy alto. La comida en sí estaba bastante bien, pero creo que pudo ser mejor más barato en Oxford. El café fue supuestamente bastante bueno.

Yo era un visitante de un día a Oxford recientemente y parado para brunch en este pequeño café donde había comido una vez antes (en 2012). Está situado en la zona centro comercial Centro, justo antes de headington Oxford ciudad. Aunque pequeño, este café ofrece un ambiente muy luminoso, alegre, con pequeñas mesas redondas, bastante manteles y director de bienvenida (de origen libanés), que evidentemente se enorgullece de su trabajo. También hay un amplio menú de comida, en su mayoría tipo bocadillos, café, pasteles y una omellettes surtido de bebidas calientes y frías.

Mi novio y yo visitamos este pequeño café en la oportunidad después de visitar el hospital local y no nos decepcionó. La comida era deliciosa. Agradable tener algo diferente para un cambio. El ambiente era genial, ya que era tarde en la mañana siguiente y el número de personas que estaban sentados, bebiendo café y mirando el mundo pasar. . El lugar estaba muy limpio, el personal era amable y servicial, y la comida era reciente y sirve muy buena y caliente.

One Croissant was £3. That to me is seriously overpriced. How can you justify that price?. For the simple fact that I feel you are ripping me off.... I will not ever return or recommend your establishment.

Ordered an ‘italian’ panini and a drink which came to near on £7, it was the most bland thing I’ve ever tasted. Couldn’t even finish it. Very disappointing as the cafe itself is very sweet and cosy.

Dirigido y manejado por una pareja encantadora de ascendencia marroquí que hacen excelentes desayunos y almuerzos. We had a lovely breakfast here. The service was friendly and fast. The food was excellent and the coffee too. Highly recommended.

Chaqueta de patata con queso y granos ordenados. No venía con queso, pedimos queso. Señora llevó más de un recipiente, al acercarme el queso estaba mohosa. Mi compañero tomó el queso hasta el hasta para hacérselo saber. La señora fue agresiva y no se disculpó, y luego básicamente dijo 'pagar por tus bebidas y salir". Gerente de vino y dijo "lo siento he tenido un mal día". . Todos tenemos días malos, no significa que sean groseros con los clientes. Salud y preocupación de la higiene personal descortés, y bastante aburrido capuchino, para ser honesto.

Very good food and service also very good. Nice choice of sandwiches and paninis as well as soups etc. Excellent choice of cakes for finishing the meal with good coffee.

Cuando usted desea tomarse un tiempo y descansar, La Croissanterie es una excelente opción. Cruasanes recién horneados y repostería, hacen un excelente capuchino o disfrutar de una taza de té recién preparado bien. Personal amable, buen servicio, buen precio. Asientos interiores y al aire libre.

He estado aquí muchas veces en los últimos años. Es caro, y aunque el dueño es amable, y yo he querido apoyar una cafetería independiente, he notado que a lo largo de los años que el personal se están convirtiendo más brusca.

Hemos estado aquí muchas veces y disfrutamos de la comida y el café cada vez. Tienen una amplia gama de bocadillos, paninis, ensaladas y pasteles, normalmente una deliciosa sopa del día. V amable personal que está siempre atento de nuestro cochecito, aunque no hay mucho espacio. Lo único que sería mejor es un bebé unidad cambiantes pero me doy cuenta de que el espacio es un problema.

It is the worst place I have ever had. I asked for a coffee and the guy told me that with just a cup of coffee could not sit outside.To my representations the guy was extremely rude.I do not recommend anyone this place there are many others with more friendly staff.

What a lovely delightful place with a good selection of dishes. The paninis and baguettes are especially good with lots of tasty filing.You won’t spend a lot but you can have a very satisfying lunch in very congenial surroundings

We have been visiting Bashir and Soued's cafe for three years now and it is a delight. Their food is fresh and tasty, the service could not be friendlier and they always make us welcome. A great family business.

Hot chocolates are nice as well as the food. But the staff especially the two boys never smile, only with each other. They Always look moody.

When im here I feel like I'm in Morocco. I think the place is run by Moroccans. They have amazing variety of breakfast option. They are themed. More than 20 baguette option. The coffee is amazing. So cute. Place where you feel calm and drifted away. The decor is Morocco inspire. I highly recommend.

ordered food, it took ages to come, it was cold, part of it had clearly been microwaved and tasted horrible. the portion size was minute and they obviously had no idea how to cook properly. when i took the food in to explain, the owner began to shout at me as if it was my fault, and continued to be completely rude. staff were nasty and rude,food was terrible,coffee was average.there are a lot of other places to go around here and i suggest you do so.

In recent months this place has improved it's look, outside seating area & cheerfulness.As a result it's a great place to grab a bite to eat for lunch & drink a decent coffee.They have a varied fusion - Morroccan style menu. With sandwiches, Baps, soups, desserts to suit all tastes.

Wasn't expecting much when we went in but we were very surprised by the quality, freshness and tasty ingredients used in the jackets spuds and baguettes. Ideal for a quick bite in a busy tourist dominated area.

Just visiting Oxford and popped in for a baguette and coffee with my family. Reasonably priced with a selection of tasty looking baguettes, ciabattas and savoury croissants. Had a delicious coronation chicken baguette with a really nice coffee. Well worth a visit if you live near.

We came here for breakfast, really quaint setting and lovely staff. Was slightly disappointed they didn't have more of a breakfast selection but the Morrocan breakfast was nice.

This is a superb little Brasserie offering both traditional and several far more unique snacks etc., with a Moroccan twist.

This place is close to where we live, so would be a natural place to hang out. The interior is nice and I do like the tables outside, where you can enjoy midday sun. Unfortunately on both occasions we were there, the waiter was grumpy and completely uninterested. Coffee was ok, but not good enough to make up for bad service.

Pricey. Coffee and baguette were basic and served in a plastic effect wooden bowl. Waiter not very happy. Lovely place and nice to sit outside on a Sunny day.

An impromptu visit, in an area we don't eat in often. Good service, great food, Moroccan breakfast and Moroccan tea, perfect together.

We have brekkie here every sunday. Definitely the best cafe in Headington, run and owned by a family. Yummy crepes and coffee!

I got some lunch here and ate in. The price really hikes up on some of the items if you want to eat in. The service was prompt, brining the items to our table. I had a tuna baguette, nothing majorly wrong with it but could have done with a lot more filling, I was still hungry after having it. The decor is lovely, however it's very small place to sit and eat, but you can sit outside also. I ate inside but could smell the cigars from a customer outside.

We just popped in for a coffee and we were delighted by the friendly staff and the excellent coffee. There was a good selection of sweet things but we didn't indulge. The café was busy and had a nice atmosphere.

Desperately craving a big juicy full English breakfast, La Croissanterie was like a beacon of hope glimmering from the heart of Headington. The irony being that it was the only place that seemed to serve a full English breakfast all day for a reasonable price, and it was a French café. Despite the lack of bacon (a key ingredient, am I correct??) with our full English and a slightly underfilled cappucino, the service was excellent. Very quick, and friendly. Would recommend, will definitely visit again.

popped in with friends for brunch. Had delicious nutella and banana pancakes - heavenly.would have liked to have seen vegetarian sausages available on the breakfast options as choices for veggies a bit limited

Friendly, unpretentious people who really make an effort, with good tea, coffee, buns, breakfast, etc, in a perfect position in central Headington near the shops. If it's sunny you can sit outside; otherwise sit in the window and people-watch. The only drawback's the name, but then Headington's full of the sort of people that know what "croissanterie" means. Across the road there's a "chocolatier" !

Chose this cafe as it was a gloriously sunny day and we wanted to sit out in the sun.The menu is more about the sandwiched but the pastries and bits in the cabinet looked delicious. The service was reasonably fast and it came with a few Turkish (I think) twists.A lovely brunch location in Headington.
