one of the worst meals i've ever had - very poor quality food. We all agreed the meals felt like microwave reheated ready meals with zero flavour. appalling!

Booked a family lunch on Sunday 17th Sept. for 15 people. It was a day of unpredictable weather and the restaurant was not that busy apart from this booking. The service was good with ample time for people to settle after the initial drinks were served. People were allowed time to mull over the menu and eventually orders placed. Food was served up at similar time with nobody having to wait long for their dish. Vegetables served up in bowls for people to serve themselves. All food was good, with a large sea bass easily enough for 3 people. In our case as long as coffees were ordered we were allowed to bring in a cake as we had left it too late to order from the restaurant. Some desserts were ordered nonetheless. Wine was good and everyone had an enjoyable time. Would recommend the restaurant.

Dinner with friends at 8pm and rushed out by 10! Done with this place now! Gave a second chance after this happened before. They took ages to take our order and every course felt rushed and then we felt uncomfortable finishing our wine at 10pm! Abruptly told ‘we are closed’ despite us asking if we could finish our wine as lifts arriving at 10.30. Yes you are closed! Miserable attitudes and won’t ever recommend or visit again!

It was a nice place. The food was good, the service was excellent. The prices are premium so be mindful of that but no complaints and will visit again if I was in the area.

Excellent food and a welcomed escape from the run of the mill Italian names chains. Goats cheese salad was delicious as was the tapas (it was a Sunday menu) followed by an fantastic paella. Even the espresso was great! Highly recommended. By the way the steaks on display will warrant a second visit soon!

Nice friendly waitresses serving very ordinary food - the sauce on the two dishes we had tasted identical. And had a jelly like consistency - it definitely tasted like it had come from a packet (even if it hadn’t) . £117 for two with one drink each - no wine or dessert

I’ve never been in such a lovely place. Great food, nice people. A beautiful restaurant that once was a barn and kept alive the simplicity of the wooden structure. I was there for a wedding party and the crew was patient and nice. Bravi tutti!

A hidden gem! The most authentic Italian food we’ve had outside Italy. I’m gluten free and I was able to pick almost anything off the menu! We had 3 courses each and every single mouthful was a delight. Well worth a visit for anyone looking for the opportunity to eat the finest fresh meat or fish that’s prepared and cooked authentically.

Previously reserved table yet seated next to kitchen exit. Chicken overdone and curled up. Veg hardly cooked, service impression, they couldnt wait to get rid of us. Hoovering near table to collect plates. Left before finished. Felt unwelcome and uncomfortable.

Nice family run Italian, but seriously limited menu and very expensive. Nothing at all vegetarian for the mains, unless pescatarian, and no pasta dishes. We were five people having dinner on a Thursday evening with a starter, main, pudding and one drink each and it came to £270. The puddings were nice, but nothing else stood out. Won't bother going back.

We wanted a simple but great quality meal,we got it. We wanted good Italian wine we got it. It’s not trying to be anything other than Italian restaurant in Marlow. We were a party of 6 adults we had 3 courses, inc lobster linguine , rib of beef and beautiful calfs liver. A good drink, before and after dinner!! £400 so all in all will definitely go back.

Starters were nice, but we ordered 4 different mains, and they all came with peas, carrots and square chips, very similar to those in the pub. Didn't realize that Italian and British food was so similar.

Visited on a busy Saturday night but food and service were excellent. Outside area is very pretty Highly recommend the spaghetti with seafood & the steak from the specials. Can’t wait to visit again

Went here for dinner recently while visiting Marlow. The ambience and setting are lovely, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food is tasty and good quality. The house wine is very good also.However, be careful if you order the specials that are on offer as they appear to be very overpriced compared to the a la carte menu, and the price wasn't revealed to you until the bill. Specials are more than a third more expensive and half the size, even for the vegetarian ones, so do check before you order. Covid safety didn't seem to be fully operating - we sat right next to another table (easily within 1 m or less), menus were fabric covered and not sanitised, and no T&T check in was offered.Would return as the food was good and the setting and staff were very good, but check the prices before ordering!

From start to finish we had an amazing time. The service and the food are 5 star! We travel frequently to Italy and the quality and ambience is 100% authentic.We had an awful time staying at The Crowne Plaza in Marlow but discovering this gem saved our trip! The seafood linguine was amazing with super fresh seafood. My fiancé had the grilled rib eye which was huge and cooked to perfection!

Service was very good. Food was terrible. The Gambas for starter came with a watery tasteless sauce. The sliced sirloin dish with chilli and peppers was virtually inedible. The sirloin was fatty and gristly, the peppers and chili were not good and there was far too much sliced garlic, so I left most of the dish. Shame because we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere the last time we visited between lockdowns

Visited La Cantina for the first time since reopening, meeting with friends, found a lovely atmosphere, friendly service, and a great menu, service professsional and fast and with some humour, food excellent and a wide selection. Very impressed

Been here for lunch and dinner- both were great despite the chilly weather.This is a family owned restaurant that is located in Marlow heart and you should try the food there. The owners and the staff are caring and lovely and we would definitely want to go back there..very soon! Totally recommended can wait for reopening indoors!!

My girlfriend and I dined at La Cantina Del Vino on Sunday evening, we were made to feel very welcome, the outdoor dining space is charming and nicely tucked away, the service was excellent and the food was delicious and reasonably priced, we had a great evening and will definitely go back, the Sardines, Goats Cheese, Monk fish and Sea Bass were very tasty. A chilly evening in May to eat outside, but the service was good and the food excellent. We felt well looked after. Take care on the menu though as it is one of those places where the spuds and veg are extra. Could this be a way to hide the price? It is a bit top end.

Good quality Italian in Marlow, with some traditional Italian dishes and lush outdoor seatingThe restaurant itself is quite crammed and not such a comfortable environment. I also got the vibe that it wasn't so cleanHowever on the more positive notes: The waiters and staff were all really really friendly. they were really helpful in helping us choose what dishes to order and their opinions on what they recommended. There were many authentic traditional Italian dishes which is always nice to see in what seem to be like a family run Italian restaurant and the quality itself of the food was not bad at all.

After a long drive and finding that the cafe in the Travelodge was closed we quickly booked this restaurant for dinner, and weren’t disappointed. It is tucked away in a courtyard so parking is a 5 minute walk away but the venue is nicely decorated and we were warmly welcomed by the staff. We both had a starter, main course and a sweet and they were all delicious. The menu is quite expensive but I think that is indicative of venues in Marlow. We would recommend this venue for evening meals and the environment is very good for couples.

We visited Marlow for a change of scenery for one night, and to get away for the last time before lockdown, so had no reservations anywhere. I had a look at restaurants in the town centre and called a few but they were fully booked. I then came across La Cantina Del Vino, who were able to squeeze us in, and I think it was fate. They took a £40 deposit over the phone (only because people keep booking and then not turning up and on these current times, I think it’s disgusting that people do this, so had no issue in paying the deposit).On arrival we were taken back by the building itself, which was stunning and situated off the high street. On entering the restaurant it was even more beautiful. With high ceilings and wooden beams, low lighting and a fine dining but relaxed atmosphere. The host was very welcoming and showed us to our table upstairs which gave us a beautiful view of the restaurant. Now the food! Delicious!The portion sizes were great! Fresh, perfectly cooked and left me wanting more. Great selection of Italian wine.Toilets were nice and clean Loved that there was back ground music.We were very well looked after.Please, please visit the restaurant, I believe they do take away now - cause of covid. Don’t let this beautiful independent restaurant, be another casualty. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

It was a wet windy Wednesday afternoon and we were greeted upon entry by a friendly man who showed us a choice of tables. From the moment we arrived until we left 3 hrs later we felt like we were on holiday! The food and atmosphere was so authentic. This really is a hidden gem to be enjoyed any time of day or night. We ate from the two course lunch menu £15.50 each and ate like kings. We also drank like one too! I highly recommend and will definitely be returning. Thank you

Nice restaurant with a cozy and authentic interior decor as well as al fresco dining off the Marlow high street. Went there for dinner on a weekday and it was relatively busy. We ordered the garlic prawns for starter - no need to order this if you visit. For mains we opted for 2 of the daily specials; pan-fried dover sole and rack of lamb with honey glaze. The dover sole was excellent and clearly the best dish albeit pricey at c.£30. The rack of lamb was done nicely at medium rare with a nice chargrilled layer of fat on the outside however there literally wasn't any taste and I had to smother it in the glaze just so I could taste something. For dessert we got the homemade tiramisu and this was just amazing, I love it when the tiramisu is not too heavy on either the coffee or level of sweetness and this was just perfectly balanced, including just the right amount of chocolate sauce drizzled on top - highly recommend. Total bill came to just over £80 between 2 people, not sure the food was really worthy of this final price. Nonetheless, still had a nice evening at an authentic Italian restaurant with good ambiance and service.

We have been here on a number of occasions & the owner comes and says hello which is nice. The food is always good and we’ve never had to complain about the service.However last night there were several specials including Dover sole, a favourite of mine & lobster linguini. I asked the price of the sole, £29 which is fair though you get only a plate with it, vegetables are extra. We did not ask the price of the linguini which my wife ordered. It was excellent with plenty of lobster but when the bill came they had charged £50!I would have expected £25-30 but if you’re charging £50 for a dish I do think you should tell the client at the time of ordering. Rather spoiled the evening,

We were there for lunch again today, this time with my brother and his partner from Nailsworth. We all felt very safe in the restaurant and everything was absolutely perfect. My brother and partner are as taken with this restaurant, from the welcome, the food, service and ambience, as we are. They wish La Cantina could be transported to where they live! What a compliment! We are so lucky to be able to visit often, as we live in Marlow. :)

We visited to celebrate my mother in law’s birthday (we’re not mentioning numbers ...). There is a warm welcome and drinks offered as soon as we you sit down and then the chief waiter explains the menu in a very charming way, including specials. We ate from the specials - I had mussels and a steak and everyone else had Frito Misto and Hake - all very good. The things I especially liked were the attentive but not intrusive service, the atmosphere in the restaurant and the quality of the food. The bill was reasonable (mainly because I wasn’t drinking but the Mrs made up for that!). All in all, a very enjoyable evening.

Missed the tapenade and breadsticks and butter which used to greet us,and also the fabulous roast duck which used to be on the menu.Otherwise, everything ok about the (new?) format, although vegetable portions too small and salt used a bit too liberally in the main courses. Amaretto trifle terrific!

Last week I rang and booked a lunch for 2 at this location for today (Monday 21st September).We arrived at the appointed time to find the place closed. As they had my phone number, a call to let me know there was a problem might have been useful.So we went to The Ivy in the High Street and had an excellent meal.

Food was tasty and plentiful and nice setting but seemingly no Covid measures in place. Cutlery was laid in front of us so I had to wipe it all. Staff weren't wearing masks or gloves and waiter leaned over to serve and clear. Also handled my credit card. Don't think they are complying at all. Just took details for track and trace and expected me to touch the pen he then handed to other customers. Normal menus, not disinfected, were placed back on the pile. This place needs inspecting re Covid safety as no effort been made .

It was great to revisit this restaurant the young couple that own it have made it a success due to the fabulous cooking of Paolo owner chef and wife Anna front of house alongside brother Antonio and chef Daniel. You are made welcome and the food is just excellent. I had Mussels starter. Calves liver main my partner had Prawns in garlic and main Sea Bass each meal was delicious take it from me i tried his as well.Wine excellent and well satisfied with the price DO GIVE IT A TRY really good.

We visited the restaurant as a family party of seven whilst on holiday. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown to table in the upper area of the restaurant all the tables were well socially distanced which was reassuring. Everyone in our group had starters and mains all were delighted the their choice sayings how delicious each course tasted. I can personally recommend the Sardine starter and the Rib of Beef.The service was warm and friendly and I would have on hesitation in visiting this restaurant again next time I am in the area.

Went there during the government £10 scheme. I felt that the tables could have been slightly more apart. Waiters/waitresses did not wear masks or visors (all eating places I have been to since have fully complied with this). Our waiter bent over me to talk and was within a foot of my face. Cutlery was handled and again set out very near my face instead of it being left at the end of the table. Food was excellent just spoilt by lack of Covid considerations.

This was our first visit to Marlow. We came across the lovely La Cantina restaurant as we were looking for M&S. We were very lucky to get a table outside for 4 of us as we had not booked. We all enjoyed our food, everything was cooked to perfection and tasted really fresh. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We found the Sunday lunch menu very good value for money. Will definitely return if visit Marlow again.

We cancelled a table based on the current government guidelines and restaurant policy that if a member of your party are unwell, you are not to visit. We only had booked 24 hours prior to this and called at 9:30am to give them as much notice as possible yet we were made to feel bad by being told that they had turned numerous people away for this evening. There is no doubt about it , that with the eat out to help out scheme that this table will be rebooked 10 times over before they open this evening so there was no need for this attitude when our reasons were fair and abiding to the current law!

We eat here fairly regularly, the food is often very good, service is always great. I would most definitely recommned this as a decent eatery in Marlow.

Mixed review Service was slow and staff were not attentive. The food was lovely, however, with a wide range of wines on offer. Could have easily been 5/5 if the service was improved.

My husband and I visited for the first time on a Friday lunchtime.We opted for the set lunch menu. I had salmon in a dill sauce and my husband had the skate house special. As my husband doesn’t like capers the waiter told us that it was no problem to omit them from the sauce as everything is freshly made. We had potato and vegetable sides which were included. We both thoroughly enjoyed the mains and the vegetables were exceptional, so fresh and cooked perfectly.We both had tiramisu for dessert which was great.The restaurant’s recommended wine was fabulous too. We would thoroughly recommend a visit here and will definitely be returning when we come back to Marlow.

Went for lunch on Saturday and sat outside in the sun. The food was fantastic from start to finish. I had 3 courses including cheesecake! Totally recommend and will be back shortly. Thank you to everyone for looking after us.

Beautiful food and amazing service. Visited La Catina today for mother’s 80th birthday and their service and food was absolutely superb. Freshly cooked and I would really recommend the salmon and definitely the deserts. Perfect hygiene particularly post lockdown

My wife and I ate lunch here on Monday in their outdoor seating area, which had been arranged with social distancing measures in place. Staff, who wore face coverings, were polite and knowledgeable about the menu and daily specials as always. We ordered from the “Market Lunch” menu which was very reasonably priced. We had wine by the glass that was good value and obviously sourced by someone who knows and cares about wine. Highly recommended.

So I came here as the first place to have dinner with my best friend. The food was delicious and the service was spot on, was very one to one service and made sure everything was okay. Refilled our drinks with no asking. Would recommend as they are careful with the safety measures with whole of COVID-19.

A great find tucked away from the busy street. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Antonio told us the whole menu from memory.Food was excellent and quick to come out good size portions so no room for dessert unfortunately.Complimentary limoncellos to finish. We asked if they could order us a taxi, but Antonio said no need he would drop us off on his way home as it was near to closing time. Thank you Antonio as it wasn’t actually on his route home!!Definitely recommend going to this lovely restaurant.

1 star. Here is the reason: 4 of us ordered a starter to share which included fried seafood (prawns, Calamari and white bait). The prawns and calamari were ok but the white bait was very bad. It had a very strong fishy taste and was clearly off. Each of us tried it and agreed. When we told the waiter that there was something wrong with the white bait he disagreed and said it was very good. I insisted that I like it very much and often have it and that this serving was definitely off and all of us agreed. The waiter then, believe it or not, leant across me and picked one up with his fingers and put it in his mouth in front of us. You could see on his face it was not what he was expecting yet he still proceeded to say it was good and then turned and walked away. I was in stunned silence. I turned to my wife and asked – “did that just happen?”. There was no apology despite us even asking another waiter to pass a message to the chef. Nothing was taken from our bill. 1 – what happened to the customer is always right; 2 – how can you argue when 4 people are saying the same thing; 3 – how can a waiter think it is ok to use his fingers to take a person’s food from the table without even asking and then walk away leaving it for us to continue eating??????All this on top of forgetting about drinks orders and generally trying to be too funny/clever and making everyone quite uncomfortable when ordering. The rest of the food was just average – nothing special at all. This place most definitely does not deserve the rating it currently enjoys

We visit La Cantina regularly, and this time it was for lunch with two old friends. As always it was excellent!

We went on a cold wet Sunday evening, and were the only couple there, but the staff were welcoming and never rushed us. The restaurant is very homely and well laid out over two levels. Food is really lovely (highly recommend the mushroom risotto!), good portion sizes and reasonably priced. Great wine list. A great restaurant with friendly staff.

We had dinner here. Such a friendly restaurant. Busy Saturday night but the service was still excellent. I had the prawns starter and the special fish of the day which was cod. All delicious. Excellent vegetable selection. All good and not silly prices! . Will be back again soon

We came across this place from looking at online reviews and it did not disappoint - lovely, romantic atmosphere with welcoming staff. It was a very authentic experience, large portions and definitely worth a visit - delicious wine and a perfect date night dinner!

A Tudor Barn with interesting tudor beams and great ambience. Very friendly staff. Typical Italian food served hot with vegetables included. I had whitebait as a starter, Veal escalope as my main, beautifully presented and delicious. The thinly sliced liver which my husband had was also delicious.

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime between Christmas and New Year. Greeted by the manager who wasn’t over friendly or welcoming. The wine I requested they didn’t have so he recommended another, stupidly I should have asked for the wine list instead of going with his recommendation. The wine was drinkable but certainly not worthy of its £9.50 price tag. My partner had mussels to start which were nice although he had to ask for extra bread for the sauce. I had calamari, which again where ok, but to be honest I’ve had better at Pizza Express with the kids. The homemade tartar was delicious but rather than give me my own little pot the waitress put one spoonful on my plate. I had the pheasant for main which again was ok but a little on the dry side and not as good as the one I was served at Brassiere Blanc a few weeks ago. My partner had the sirloin which again was ok but not melt in the mouth. His chips tasted awful, maybe the oil they were cooked in, or perhaps it needed changing. We asked for a jug of water but were given a glass each and had to ask for them to be refilled. We decided not to go for dessert or coffee and won’t be visiting again, for a few reasons: mediocre food, poor customer service ( they all need to learn how to smile) and the attention to detail. A place trying to be a top class restaurant should not have drink spills up the wall or have tablecloths with holes in!

We have been here several times and the food is usually tasty and good value. We ordered 2 glasses of wine (1 small and 1 large ). We didn't check the wine list for price but we were charged £8 and £9.50 and it appeared to be wine of the month - not sure why as it was nothing special. We may return but had found that the set menu doesn't change very much .

We had a large family dinner for nearly 30 here a few weeks ago. Everything from babies to OAPs. The setting is perfectly nice and the food ok but nothing special in my view. What was quite disappointing was the service and attitude of the male staff. It was on a Saturday night and we didn't feel very welcome. Usually in authentic Italian restaurants they will pay particular attention to children but that certainly wasn't the case on this occasion.And the guy couldn't have sounded less enthusiastic reading the (overly long) specials menu. It was very busy so maybe they were just having a bad day. If we were to visit again, I hope they lighten up a bit!

We visited this restaurant as we knew the chef and a couple of the waiters from a good few years back in Henley, we were delighted to find the chef is now the owner. We were not disappointed as Paolo's cooking skills are fantastic.

Smart place with very good food. Efficient though lukewarm service. Menu prices looked reasonable for the area but all the extras soon racked up for us to a hefty bill! Can recommend it but just be careful how much you order!
