This is one of my favourite places for a glass of wine and bar snacks with friends, however it has now sadly shut down. No doubt due to high rents etc.

Good value local Italian (downstairs) with ground floor bar, open all day. However, it is under new management and is closed for refurbishment

Used to be a regular haunt for pizza... especially on a rainy evening! Menu has changed as well as the staff. We started with prosecco and hummous, then shared a pizza and salad with a nice bottle of house red! Too much food but good!

I was introduced to this lovely bistro and the delights of West Hampstead a couple of months ago by my friend and really enjoyed it. The restaurant was busy and lively with a fantastic mini brass band outside playing modern and old school tunes and although the service was a little slow and a bit offhand at times, I would recommend the place especially as the food especially the artichoke & garlic pizza to start and the gnocci with fish and glass of Malbec I had was delicious.

We came here for a leaving do. The basement restaurant was very atmospheric and there was a lovely organic Tempranillo served by the glass......good start! But I'm afraid it was downhill from there. My husband's pappardelle with lamb, tomato and cumin was delicious but my duck tortellini was under-seasoned and greasy. My neighbour's fiorentina pizza was "dry" and my friend's steak was "OK but not great" (their words, not mine). But the worst thing was that we were seated in front of the pizza preparation area - the chef opened a jar of gherkins, dropped the lid on the floor - underside to the floor (which didn't look terribly clean), stepped over it a few times while he was prepping some dishes and then finally picked the lid up and replaced it back on the jar without rinsing it off first. I'm afraid that made me feel rather squeamish and may have contributed to my lack of enjoyment of the meal. The waiting staff seemed lovely and were good at dealing with a large table of hungry customers but due to the quality of the food and the dodgy hygiene, I doubt we'll be back.

Visited this bar last evening and ordered a pint of lager and a gin and tonic. The pint was poured and served with at least two centimetres of foam head which very quickly dissipated leaving a short measure. I asked the barman to top it up at which point he looked at me as though I had two heads. He gave a good impression of topping it up but barely managed it. The second pint was also served short. I didn't bother saying anything and just thought it best to leave a review warning others! This bar does look really nice from the outside but once you go in it's not all that great.

My wife and I started coming to this restaurant in 2007 when we began going out. We used to love it. Perhaps our expectations have changed but we went last night for a cosy Saturday night but left bitterly disappointed. We waited 40 minutes for our main courses - a ribeye steak and pizza - but when my steak arrived my wife's pizza was inexplicably further delayed. When the pizza finally arrived - with no apology for the extra 10 min delay - I cut into my steak only to discover it was rock hard and dry despite being drenched in pepper corn sauce. Beyond well done. I complained, received no apology, and had the steak whipped away without any conversation about how to proceed. I followed the waiter (also manager I think) and said we'd waive the steak. I received a shrug of shoulders. We ate the pizza before deciding to cut our losses and leave without paying a tip (can't remember last time I did this). One of the worst meals I've had in recent times. We won't be returning.

We went there expecting to have a good time and nice food as our boss has recommended and what we had was a terrible night.Without doubt has a poor shict customer service and food quality is disgusting. The food was salty as hellll and wasn't fresh. I wouldn't feed my dog with it. Also they were staring my gf like idiots. I have no doubt that we'll never come back.

I love eating in the bar of Brocca - it feels like walking into 1920s Paris/Rome. The food is really tasty (Italian) and the value for money. They do a really good brunch menu to which offers something slightly different to the other places in the area. The staff are really friendly and it's very much a West Hampstead local. Always good for watching the rugby and football too.

Good location for a late Sunday morning brunch. Spanish omelette was very tasty indeed and a generous portion. Full English was equally full. Our pasta dishes were also very tasty and generous. Special menu was very quirky with 'wild food' choices for the weekend.

I used to be a regular at this bar as I grew up in the area. Sadly, the food and service have both gone downhill *drastically*. There was a time I could rely on this place as a relaxed place to hang out with friends and meet colleagues, but as a few of the other reviewers on here have noted, the staff are rude and hurry you up using any means necessary when they've had enough of working. Now there's not a chance I would recommend this to friends or business associates. It is too volatile and they apparently have no idea about customer service.

This place is so unreliable these days. I've reviewed before and earlier this year thought it had returned to its former glories, but sadly it has gone right downhill again. This review is based on three recent visits as I'm fond of the place and its nice manager and didn't want to slam it on the basis of one off night. The main problem is the pizzas. Instead of the bases being made as they used to be in front of you in house, light and crisp and fantastic, they seem now to be buying in basic cheap margherita bases and splotting the toppings on these. The end result is foul - a Roma for example has lumps of goat cheese melting into the thick layer of cheap mozzarella already there smothering cheap tomato sauce. It's actually disgusting, the two kinds of cheese make it really greasy and soggy. We left ours and were not asked why. The manager is a sweetie and when all is going well very friendly but he skulks off at the first sign that things might not be right. House wine was warm as was the Sauvignon. The nice waitress offered a third option free of charge but by then the will to live had drained away. Sorry but no plans to come back on current form. They seriously need to sort the place out as there is increasing competition and the place is emptier every visit.

Used to be our local Italian, so I was not disappointed that find nothing had changed on an evening out in West Hampstead. The restaurant is bellow the wine bar, and although a bit cramped and basic, serves fantastic classic italian fare and excellent pizzas.Simple and tasty with the likelihood of also seeing a celebrity local to who also recognise the importance of supporting good local restaurants.Go for the pizza Barcelona!

Whenever my husband and I visit our daughter in West Hampstead La Brocca is one of the first places we head for. Excellent beers, wines and a range of brunches, lunches and evening meals make it perfect for whatever time of the day you pop in. There is always a real buzz about the place especially during the evening and the candlelit tables make it a warm and inviting atmosphere that is sometimes difficult to leave!

We went back to La Brocca for the first itme in awhile and were really pleased and relieved to find it is back on great form. The welcome was warm, service relaxed and friendly, and food good. Boquerones on toast were very good, and the pizzas as always excellent: light, crisp and flavoursome. A sunken cholcolate pudding was obscenely rich and dellicious. Very good value too,not to mention e the free grappa!

We waited 40 minutes for a starter as ours was originally sent to the wrong table, and another 25 minutes later asked about the main course, only to be rudely told that we'd just had a starter and they were busy. Rather than apologising the sullen manager decided to argue with us, so we left. Awful service, and the little food we had was mediocre. Don't waste your time at this place, there are many other decent places very close by.

I really enjoyed pizza at La Brocca, used to come here very often. After a little break I went back with a friend. I got the 4 stagioni (very bad base, fridge-cold vegetables on top) and my friend went for the capricciosa (very bad base, cold vegetables, egg shells).Grumpy waitresses. Not going back in the foreseeable future.Very sad, because the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere

If you can't go down steep steps this isn't the restaurant for you, it’s down stairs off the main drag in west Finchley. Once down in the restaurant its gets brighter as they have added on a glass conservatory, with views of the residential houses above. The food is just ok; we’ve eaten there on a few occasions mainly due to a family member who likes the restaurant. Personally I wouldn’t bother going unless you satisfied with ordinary and relatively good value for money.

Went here for birthday lunch with my better half. Have been a few times & usually good but was shocked this time. My partner ordered Spag Bol which was adequate (even if it did have cooked penne in the spaghetti), I chose Chicken & Pancetta ravioli. I believe this Ravioli was infact the packet ones you get in sainsburys (chicken & bacon) it was no way fresh & just blinged up with some pesto dressing rocket & warm cherry tomatoes & at £12 for the plate. Shocker & won't return,

Have been going here for years - pizzas are great but otherwise the food can be hit and miss. What you have always been able to rely on though is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where you can take your time over a pudding and an extra glass of wine! Recent visit though was a disaster and wont be hurrying back. Started well with great new starters, beetroot cured salmon and gigantic king rawns. So far so good. We both had belly pork which was a disgrace - dried out lump of pork that had been clearly sitting about for ages, on a bed of large chunks of cabbage that managed to be almost raw and burnt at the same time. No sauce. A replacement beef pie was pleasant enough. Worst of all, as we and several other tables were still finishing the mains, the waitress came round and stacked all other chairs around us on the tables, until we were sitting in a forest of upturned chairs. This at 10.15 on a Friday night! No offer of pudding or coffee, apparently the kitchen staff had all gone home. She seemed deliberately to want to chase people out, spraying cleaning fluid on the table right next to another couple who were still eating. We protested and another staff member started to take the chairs down again, so there was the ludicrous spectacle of one putting chairs up and another taking them down again. Neither relaxing or welcoming so we left. We declined to pay service and they also didnt charge for a bottle of wine, but doesnt really make up for an awful evening.
