La comida era realmente malo, todo sabía igual, nada era fresco, la presentación era pobre y horrible. went on a groupon to this place FRIDAY NIGHT. nobody inside, manager standing at door. went to pub next door for drink.went back to miracolo at 7.30pm 1 other couple inside.husband ordered lamb cutlets.(did not have them) so ordered another lamb dish, that looked like a lump of mush. i had smoked salmon???wafer thin watery something, probably defrosted something looking like salmon.mains husband ordered sirloin steak..suprise suprise!! this had not yet been cut since the morning delivery???so he had sea bass. i ordered grilled salmon.both dishes cam together, and the smell was horendous my husband thought his fish was off,but no it was my salmon that was off.called manager who could not smell this, neither apparently could the person who heated it in microwave.by now i did not even want amealmbut hubbie said sea bass was fit to eat. wine that was i9ncluded in voucher,he claimed was merlot?? i drink red wine, and it was not merlot, more like watered down whatever was left in bottle wine, which i told him,so he then gave me a free glass of chianti red ( for our inconvenience). he could not even pour a beer into a glass properly he had to do it with 4 pours and let the froth go down.they also do not do any potatoes or chips, only sides of stale salad and very stale olives. ,i dont even think its a full working kitchen,so whatever is going on at this venue its not fit to be called an italian restaurant. this place deserves to be closed down

Although Michael who served us was very pleasant ( is he the owner ?? ) he didn't know whether the sauces had wheat in them . Apparently they had a staff meeting , read the packet ingredients and decided that the sauces did have wheat in them ! We decided to risk that the sauces wouldn't give my husband a problem . The food arrived , the presentation was awful , just looked like lumps with gravy on them . No real strong flavours , they were also very over cooked and tough . As the taster dishes all came at once and only luke warm they were cold when we had finished the last one . I would have liked each dish presented fresh , with a clean plate each time and an explanation / history of what we were eating . This would have made the ' medieval experience ' . I would have loved to enjoy the meal and given a good review , so sorry I can't .

Last weekend we took our friends to this restaurant. We had a voucher which we were allowed to upgrade to include different dishes. We ordered a meat selection and prawns for our starters that came with their home made bread which was delicious, The meat and the prawns were lovely, I asked the owner for the recipe for the prawn sauce and he said he would get the chief to email it. We ordered the duck pasta dish, the venison and steak. All of the meals were delicious. We were made to feel welcome and when we left we asked about a local pub and the restaurant owner told us where it was and walked us there. We will have all said that we would definetly go back again.

My fiancé and I recieved a wowcher as a gift for this restaurant. We first got there and like the look of the place, it was small but nice. The staff were nice but a bit awkward. We were very limited in what we could choose because we had a wowcher which was all stated when advertised. The menu was all foreign, didn't really understand what most of it was.Didn't see any chicken or beef on the main menu.We ordered a meat selection and prawns for our starter that came with their home made bread which was delicious,The meat was nice and my prawn were delicious. We got a glass of wine each (they don't have sweet wine, much to my disappointment)For mains we got ravioli and gnocchi. The gnocchi was tasteless and had a horrible texture with the cheese. The ravioli was alright but the flavours were so overpowering. We didn't like our mains. Because of our experience with this weird food.It was advertised as a simple Italian restaurant but really wasn't,I'm sure there's people out there who would have enjoyed it. But we really didn't!Maybe were just fussy! Wouldn't go again!

Odd concept (medieval Italian food), strange website, cross between a café and a restaurant, but the food was actually very tasty. We went here on a Wowcher and both had the gnocci which was lovely, plus a bottle of house red which was more drinkable with food than without it! All in all, for £14 it was not bad at all, but I’m not sure I’ll be making a special trip back.

I go to restaurants fairly regularly because I travel extensively for work. I found Miracolo by accident because my boyfriend works just around the corner from the restaurant. I don't get impressed by restaurants easily but I was very impressed by Miracolo. The menu is different, the service attentive (perhaps too attentive), and the price decent. The food we ate was remarkable, one of the best dinners that I ever had. I read some of the reviews on this site, and I find some of the comments quite unfair or perhaps they visited the restaurant when the kitchen and restaurant staff that served us had a day off. The place is definitely worth a visit.

I opted for the included starter and main - had the cheese platter which was a great size! With 4 different cheeses and two portions of fresh bread. And for main I had the ravioli in black truffle sauce which was lovely. Very filling and delicious food and great value for money on the deal. I went to Miracolo because it was highly recommended by a friend. My friend was absolutely right. The service is attentive, the food amazing. As soon as I opened the menu I was at loss, but the staff seem quite used to seeing customers not sure on what to order an they are very good at guiding you. Feeling adventurous I went for all the lamb stew as a starter and for the goat and salad for mains. Stew was amazing, but even more amazing is the bread that comes with it. The goat, covered in gravy was thoroughly succulent. My friend had the fillet with a gravy made of chestnuts, and for few seconds I thought I made the wrong decision, but my goat was delicious. One of the waiters came to tell me that it was ok to eat with my hands and we wold give a bowl to wash my hands afterwards, then I knew I made the right choice,. We ate in silence. When we finished our mains we asked to see a dessert menu, they did not have one, but th waiter gave a list and we were again lost, unable to decide. We were again advised and we were served a pana cotta with a liquer and a cheese cake with white chocolate. Again we went silent. They were marvelous. I loved the whole experience, and will surely be back.

My daughter brought me in this restaurant for the first time just before Christmas. She discovered this beautiful restaurant through a an Italian friend but it has now become a place where I meet her and her husband whenever I am in London. Service is incredibly warm. The people working there are very relaxed and helpful. The menu is adventurous and exciting. The wine list is on the spot and not that expensive. In this place I have managed to taste things that I did not even imagined that would be available in London (Goat, Partridges, real bucatini, venison) an ever ending exercise of discovery. What is on the menu is only though, ask the owner if there is some hidden dish of the day and he will surprise you. I would however recommend to visit the place during the week as it it too hectic during the weekend, but if you get recognized, even the weekend is a special experience.

We visited here using a groupon voucher which might suggest why the food was so awful! It looked like something that could've been microwaved from asda! My lasagna looked half chewed and the ravioli was bland! The presentation was un-imaginative and the food had been slapped on the plate. The restaurant itself is plain and the service is poor: the table opposite requested their bill and nobody arrived... nobody asked us how our meal tasted.... Waste of time and money!

I booked this meal on Wowcher as it sounded good and the Miracolo was just a short stroll from the Holiday Inn Hotel on KIngs Cross road where we were staying. I have to agree with all the positive comments on here regarding the food which more than met our expectations. It seemed as though almost all the people in the restaurant were on a voucher of some sort and even though I hadn't printed mine off it was soon sorted by MIchael the owner, who is as passionate about his customers as he is about his food. In fact I felt we were amongst friends not strangers in there the atmosphere was so good. Ok the interior decor wasn't Mediaeval and there were no Knights throwing half eaten Pheasant legs over their shoulders as a previous reviewer would have liked but we will forgive them for that! I had Venison and it was superb, my wife had Rabbit which surprised me as we have them as pets at home, she loved it because Michael said it was a wild one and not tame!! Congratulations to MIchael on a great concept, also to the staff for being so cheerful and to the unsung hero in the kitchen for the fantastic food. As one reviewer said, the unlimited supply and variety of the basket of freshly baked bread is a treat in itself. This restaurant has only been open a few months and if the voucher system helps to get plenty through the doors then it will be a job well done. Top marks from us.

Inspired by centuries old recipes for what the owner calls, "medieval cuisine," the food at this new place is truly delicious. Kind of cross between Tuscan meets Scotland food. Anyway, fresh baked bread, with dips of lentils or anchovy tempanade start it off. And then the lamb dish is stunning and rich with homemade tomato sauce with generous chunks of lamb. Best dish. And then. Fresh Scottish venison, in a garlic rosemary reduction sauce. So tender, I cut it with just my fork. And sides of pea pods, parsnips and chunky carrots. The wine was really inexpensive, but great choices from Italy. The reason I am so effusive in this review is that every dish was well thought out and they really pulled it off. I am sure that once Miracolo gets a proper Times review, it will be really successful. I discovered it by chance, but glad I did. 92 pounds for full course meal with vino. Highly recommend.

We got a wowcher voucher for this restaurant last year and had to use it by the 6th. Rang to book for Friday night and got a table for 730..We found the place very easily, just a 5 min walk from Chancery Lane tube station. Walking in was a little tentative as its very well lit and has a very modern look, with a lot of colourful artwork on the wall.. We were a few mins early but they sat us immediately.. We were advised of what our voucher allowed us to get and what the extras would be. This was really great, as am so used to vouchers being SO restrictive that you can ONLY have what they say.. We upgraded our `glass` of wine to a bottle, and ordered the king prawns and the risotto with asparagus. We then choice to upgrade our basic mains to the fancier meat options. The starters were really tasty, and the king prawns had a spicy kick that was great. We had a basket of home baked bread which was replenished for our mains too.One thing to note, what you read on the menu is what you get. There's no `chips/sides` included with the mains. We were offered a salad or mixed veg to go with the mains. We chose the mixed veg which was great, roasted parsnips, sweet potato and broad beans.. We ordered the Guinea Fowl and the Pheasant, both came with an amazing gravy, and with the veg was a great sized meal. The Guinea fowl giving more meat then the Pheasant, but thas understandable. We then asked to see the dessert menu, at which point our waiter said `that would be me then`. We ordered desserts, the risotto cake and panecotta. Again these were amazing. So fresh and tasty. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was served very quickly.. Seems a lot of people were in there with vouchers, but as the place had only been open a few months its a great way to get your idea for a restaurant out there. We will be back paying full price :)The only downside was the ambience of the restaurant.. Modern ish music, with a very bright modern styled dining area.. Needs the lighting to be toned down a touch, and more rustic a feeling (foliage from the walls i reckon would be great). Just when you're eating 12-14th century food it feels strange eating it in a modern room with modern art on the walls :D

The staff can not be faulted. Effusive and efficient and happy to make suggestions. The medieval menu using centuries old recipes looks a tad expensive but must be worth a try as every item, venison, wild boar, quails , pheasant, rabbit etc sound fantastic. The home made bread, and plenty of it, is a definite plus, reasonable priced wines another. Sea bass was very good, aubergine dip also. Venison and bresaola, unremarkable but ok none the less. My only queries were the 1980's orange and grey Habitat inspired decor and the salad which consisted of chopped up cucumber, celery , olives and onion, all of which retain water and had been so long in the fridge it was a frosty contrast to the hot food. Would go again for the medieval stuff.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Visited this restaurant with a voucher deal, intrigued by the prospect of trying ‘Mediaeval Italian Cooking’, and on that score it certainly didn’t disappoint. The menu is fascinating, with dishes that have largely recognisable ingredients, but in unusual combinations and with a heavy emphasis on game. Also great to have a manager that is clearly passionate about what he does and happy to talk through the finer points of the menu with his customers. We had meat platter and duck dip for starters, followed by roast venison and duck pappardelle. There is no tomato, potato or rice anywhere on the menu (didn’t have them in those days apparently), but the gorgeous selection of breads more than makes up for lack of the usual carbs. It was all exquisite and delicious. Unfortunately where the restaurant does disappoint I’m afraid is in the décor and overall ambience. I was expecting some mediaeval-style of fit-out, but it’s actually all very modern and bright, and the very modern choice of music doesn’t help things either (though that improved when a classical guitar tape was played later on in the evening). We felt it did let things down unfortunately, and is also very unlikely to attract much in the way of passing trade as from the outside it looks quite ordinary (we were the only people in the restaurant the night we visited). The restaurant has only been open a few weeks, and it would great if such a brave and unusual concept could be a success. So, if like me you love trying something different, my advice to you is this: Visit this restaurant; delight in the unusual menu; enjoy the gorgeous food; listen to the manager talking about what inspired him to create this unique concept; and have a quiet word in his ear and tell him that if he wants it to be success, he’s going to have to change the décor substantially to make it more in keeping with the overall theme.

I go to this restaurant fairly regularly now. It's close to my dorm and well-priced for London. This place has been in London since about the time I arrived from the US for study. The food is really good and many things that I've tried for the first time have been here (venison, quail, guinea fowl, pheasant, etc). I've tried about everything they have and have not once been disappointed. I never try the pork or shellfish on account of faith and I don't eat fish. So I cannot comment on these. The decor is fairly modern, but tastefully so. I normally hate modern, but the look here is pleasant. The music is typically varied.Everyone there is always super friendly and makes you feel right at home. They'll talk to you about many things, but never try to rush you along and don't pester you. The service is very quick so that you get your first course very soon after you order and then when you finish, your next is brought within three minutes.I like coming here to relax, have a pint of Peroni, and study. I make a point of coming here to unwind in the middle of the week and on the end because there's no place in this city that makes me feel more at ease than this one. When I am with friends or a date, this is the place I bring them and they always leave with smiles on their faces. Now I don't normally do this, but regarding the first review, I'm going to look at the menu whilst sitting in a decidedly wooden chair (I can't see any plastic chairs, nor have I ever seen any), enjoy my Guinea fowl, and reply to this review because the review is glaringly inaccurate and directed against a favourite restaurant.First off, no, they did not, in fact, have potatoes in Europe the Middle Ages. Check a history book or Wikipedia, whichever you choose, and you'll see that they weren't brought to Europe from the Americas until the mid-1500s by the Spanish. Nothing on the medieval menu purports to be later than the 1400s.Dips are obviously starters as are the hot and cold dishes. Also remember it is an ITALIAN restaurant so there is no actual main, but rather a first plate (pasta) and second (meat), all on the medieval menu. This is well-known in London by now given the sheer number of Italian restaurants in this city, and truth be told, in most major cities these days.As for salad and sauce, the salad is decently proportioned for a free side and there's extra sauce, from what I can see, for dipping bread in.As for the dessert, I love the torta della nona and the panna cota. I've tried some of the other desserts - and while I like them - I don't like them anywhere near as much as those two. From the cake and tart comment I can only assume you got mixed up by the Italian word "torta" which means cake. This is an issue to take up with the Italian language authority, not an Italian restaurant.

I have been to this restaurant twice but this last time I went with some friends they blew my mind and taste buds. The owner, a lovely chap who always stops to chat with me, this time advised me to try the new add ons on the menu, and he insisted that I try the quails stuffed with pecorino cheese and covered in pancetta. I don't believe I ever eaten anything more tasty as that. Beautiful. Unfortunately they did not have Mulbec wine as they only serve Italian wine, but they have an excellent Nero D'Avola which went a treat. My friends had the fillet and the wild boar steak and they were also well impressed. The desserts, all home made I was told, were brilliant. The menu at first was unusual and unfamiliar,(medievally inspired) but now I find myself going back there as often as I can.

Having looked to experience a different meal we (4) of us booked a table at the Miracolo in Grays Inn Road. We were looking forward to our 2 course medieval meal. On arrival to the restaurant first impressions is that this must have been a very modern medieval time. White sofas, plastic chairs and very modern art on the walls. The owner was very welcoming and showed us to our table. Menus were given, okay which we did need explaining twice. The menu is somewhat confusing and you have no idea what is a starter or main! Confused.com!! The starter we all said were very nicely presented and plenty of food. However then it comes to the main which we are not 100% as to what they are trying to achieve. No meal is served with any form of potato.....apparently in medieval time they didn't have them???? Instead your food although very tasty is served swimming in sauce and a salad. Yes a salad of small quantity and sauce, not exactly what you would expect. Then it comes to deserts.......our advice would be to forget the desert and go to the nearest cake shop you have better choice and enjoy it more. I believe cake and tarts are not the same thing nor is it made of the same ingredients. A change in the atmosphere, menu set out and explanations of the deserts is required. We have to say the food was lovely but too much sauce far too much. Don't think we will be going back......

I paid £10 for spaghetti pesto which was boiled spaghetti with a little bit of pesto out of a jar. Not fresh, nothing on the side. The coffee is horrible - bitter and thin. This cafe is in a great spot but really needs to up its game. The Lido Cafe just down the hill has proper coffee and very good food.

What a treasure we stumbled upon. Our family wandered into Piccolo and it was excellent. The service was fast and friendly. The food was delicious. Our picky eater daughter declared both the calamari and Milanese some of the best she’d ever eaten. My lasagna was also excellent as was my husband’s soup and our apple tarte dessert! The restaurant has a lovely casual neighborhood charm. It wasn’t ever full while we were there, which made no sense to us, but is great news for anyone looking for a last minute option. Highly recommend — we will absolutely return.

I went in here for a light evening meal whilst staying locally. I enjoyed my pizza and everything was adequate.
