La Brasseria Milanese in City of London, Westminster

After a frustrating visit to the hospital a full English breakfast was in order!! So glad I found this place, I was welcomed in with a smile which is hard to find in a city. The staff all made me feel comfortable, I ordered a full English breakfast with Coffee and orange juice I enjoyed every bit of it. Next time I’m in town which will be September I’m definitely stopping by for lunch. Never got my million pounds

Decidimos entrar en La Brasserie sin haber mirado opiniones con antelación, simplemente porque se nos hacía tarde, estábamos paseando por la calle Portobello y nos entró hambre. Para variar con respecto a otros sitios en Londres donde sí entramos siguiendo recomendaciones nos sorprendió gratamente. El local se veía limpio. El servicio fue muy amable y atento y la comida muy rica- los carbonara estaban fabulosos y el tiramisú espectacular (no he comido otro igual!). Lo recomiendo mucho!

A wonderful restaurant with friendly staff and delicious, fresh food. I sat outside in the sun with the most delicious of breakfasts. The porridge was the best I have ever had, with a large side of berries. The place is clean and the service was speedy. I really enjoyed this breakfast and can’t wait to return!

This is to let you know that I did not enjoy my lunch with you on Wednesday; slow service and not very good food. We ordered a bottle of wine which took ages to come and when it did it was not cold enough - I don't like white wine too cold but this was tepid. The linguine alle vongole took ages to come, when we enquired we were told that the kitchen had had to start again because of a sand problem with the clams. Fair enough, but why not tell us rather than leave us waiting? When the linguine did eventually arrive they were lukewarm and had no sauce at all, very dry. The tiramisu was also dry and lacking any punch. No-one asked me if I had enjoyed myself. I e-mailed the restaurant the same day but had no reply.

This highly rated eatery was a disappointment after I took my 2 grown up grand children for a lunch there . Despite booing early we had a table outside on the pavement on a scorching day today even though they had ample seating in air conditioned basement room and the rooms above . The menu has mostly Italian dishes . The prices are high here but the hospitality is missing . When fine dining rates are charged the simple plate of bread served with olive oil is expected to start the meal . We ordered Tartar dish which was priced £ 36 for tiny potion . I ordered Speghetti with pesto which turned out to be half cooked and perhaps the boiling water did not reach the uncooked parts of pasta . The request for chilli oil was declined and chilli flakes were brought ! It was the same with pepperoni pizza - tiny 2 slivers of pepperoni on vert crusty thick pizza base . pathetic . The service is poor due to the crowd pouring in . The Pimms was the only saving grace on a hot summer . The total bill for 2 of us came up to £ 130 without desserts . If you want your moneys worth avoid it at all cost . Not recommended .

Arrived at just before 11 am on a sunny day. Plenty of free tables outside so we sat at one. Waitress came and curtly asked us if we had "registered" with the desk inside. Went in to register and asked if we could sit where we were in the shade. Told that wasnt possible. It was a table of four but plenty of twos were sat at larger tables. Told we would have to sit at a table for 2 in the sun. Couldn't move the chairs to avoid full sun. Treated as though we were too much trouble for them to bother so we left.

What a fun place for a good outdoor lunch. We had their lasagna and the Milanese salad - excellent setting, super food, friendly staff

This restaurant is very expensive and therefore the expectation would be for excellent food and service. However this is not the case. I ordered the LaB Milanese Salad which had a dressing that was simply whole grain mustard and far too much of it. I like mustard but frankly the salad leaves were so coated in it that it was inedible. My friend ordered fettuccine which was a chef special but when it came , it was a plate of spaghetti. I didn’t want to make a fuss at the time as my friend had booked the restaurant, but I did complain by email today and the manager that replied told me that he was assured that we had been told the fettuccine was finished and given a choice of spaghetti or linguine which is completely untrue. He also tells me that the chef always prepares his dressing this way and it was the usual amount which I find hard to believe as it was a mustard bath. There was no real effort to resolve this other than the offer of an aperitivo on the house on another occasion but I find this no compensation ( my food was inedible so I would have expected the refund at least on my meal) and anyway I will definitely not go to this restaurant again.

We were very pleased with excellent food from a menu with many authentic choices, a "buzzy" atmosphere with much local support (everyone seemed very happy) and above all by the delightful service team of hard working and attentive young people who clearly also enjoyed each other's company and backed each other up; we look forward to a return. Expect Marylebone prices however and try to go as a guest. (I cannot imagine what went wrong for some of your more dyspeptic customers).

Very overrated. Poor service and too expensive. Took ages to get a drink . Had to search for staff to take our order. When meal came took ages for the sides to arrive . Almost finished the mains. Will not be returning . Two people had two courses one had one course. 13% service charge total £180. Unacceptable

Very poor service due prejudiced management. 1. Sat outside and waited for ages to get menus. 2. Before this happened, I was asked if I could move to accommodate a couple... They spent about 1/4 of my final bill. Management, not waiters, wrongly assumed based on appearances. 5. Menus arrived after a very long wait, first requesting them before actually getting them. Waiters were doing their best, the 2 male managers were doing customer entertainment. 6. Placing a drink order took ages. When I had done so, I had chosen my meal but it took longer to place it. 7. Drinks and food were good. It's hard to enjoy after an hour of stress. 8. After paying, I went downstairs to the Gents and the floor was covered with urine I slipped. Back upstairs I informed the manager it was an accident waiting to happen. It needs reporting to the local Health and Safety executive.

This is at best indifferent; at worst, pretty poor. The service is slow, the food is underwhelming. I arrived ahead of my friend, was told to wait a moment before I could be seated, and waited for several minutes while various staff fluttered around ignoring me. My friend's meal looked ok, but mine, the carbonara, was not great: it was spaghetti swimming in what looked like a bright yellow custard, and it tasted oddly sharp. I left most of it. We then waited absolutely ages for our plates to be cleared despite waiting staff attending to tables either side of us, and then we had to grab a waitress to order a coffee a good 20 minutes after our plates were finally cleared because we weren't offered a pudding/coffee menu. Additionally, the ladies' loos were grim: there were only two cubicles, and the loo in one of them was completely blocked and really unpleasant. We won't be returning.

I had the most unpleasant spaghetti carbonara I've ever eaten: the nastiest meal in years. A glutinous mustard-coloured bacon-flavoured omelette/custard with a tangle of limp pasta curled in the middle of it. A small side salad was fine. The cappuccino was cold. A nice waitress though. The prices are pretty outrageous, even for Marylebone.

Always sets me on edge when a waiter doesn't write an order down. Messed up our whole breakfast. Made something easy look really hard because he didn't want to use a pad and paper! Had to return the gluten free meal as they had served us the wrong bread which could have been diasterous if we hadn't realised and my breakfast was all wrong and toast only arrived when I had waited so long for it I had picked my way through everything on my plate meanwhile. It isn't cheap and was supposed to be a treat for my daughter after a trip to Portland St Hospital sadly it made a difficult day worse.

The prices now are simply outrageous. Sparkling water £5, Bottle of Gavi di Batasiolo £50 - retail price £10-13 which was at best watery 12.5%. Pizza £17, Chicken salad £ 20 plus 13.5% service charge. Admittedly the whole of Marylebone High Street is way over the top but this restaurant is stretching it to the limit. Having said that, the restaurant is always surprisingly busy. Probably passable if your avoid buying drinks there and stick to tap water.

This restaurant is awful. The restaurant is expensive, they charge similar prices like the top restaurant in London but their food quality is very poor. I would never go back and please do your self a favour and not eat there. I gave 1 star as I had to.

Stopped here on our way past for lunch with my son. Had a lovely pizza, carpaccio of beef and a couple of drinks and one starter. Food was excellent as was the service. The only thing that was a bit of a surprise was the bill. Pizza and a starter and two non alcoholic drinks should never come to £74. But other than that it was perfect and we would return. My son said it was as good as his Italian grandmothers so that speaks volumes.

Great breakfast. Poached eggs were perfect (quite risky in a restaurant) and the best granola berry combination I’ve had in a long time. Had to share, the portion was so large. Cheerful welcoming staff. Good coffee too. Tap water brought to the table immediately which is not very common. Will be back!

I was surprised to read such poor reviews of this place as we visited for the second time recently. We had some good food and good service. However, when the bill came, we had been charged £4.50 for something which we had understood to be a small substitution for a dessert sauce that my husband does not like. We were charged this for a small scoop of ice cream, when no extra charge had been mentioned for this substitution, and nowhere on the dessert menu was there even a mention of this cost. To be fair, the manager removed the charge but said in a rather threatening way that we would have to pay 'next time', to which we could only say that 'there won't be a next time.' Sad that a pleasant evening meal, which we had enjoyed, and which ended up costing us nearly £150 for two, was ended in this way.

Not sure why I ended up here for lunch. I think it was because they had a good dog policy, which as it turns out is the only redeeming feature. The first warning sign was the response to an enquiry about the risotto. “Is this cooked from scratch?” My friend enquired. The answer “no, the rice is precooked.” Perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised, but at these prices at least the dish should be cooked from scratch. Anyway, the Cololetta Alla Milanese was dry, under seasoned and probably precooked. The menu description of the accompaniment of roasted cherry tomato and rocket was completely accurate - note no plural on the “tomato”. My friend ordered the “house speciality” Little Italy Chicken Parm after dodging the risotto bullet. Unfortunately the kitchen had two bullets and the second one hit the mark. Dry breaded chicken in a bland tomato sauce with a single slice of aubergine - as with the cherry tomato, you must assume the words used on the menu are literal. Service was fine. We will not be back.

A fast food Italian restaurant promoted as of high quality but it is definitely not… High prices, bad quality. More detailed, Pasta not al dente, small plates, poor service. In the past was good however now I would definitely not recommend….

Initially our experience of this restaurant was very positive, with prompt and friendly service. Great wine. I ordered a cheese omelette with fries and salad. The omelette was overcooked and slightly burnt, very little cheese and a couple of mushrooms. The fries were cold and overcooked, making them hard to eat. The salad was sliced lettuce and 3 baby tomatoes!!!! Initially I didn’t complain as I just wanted to eat lunch peacefully. Just as we were leaving the patron on the next table was served the same lunch. It was very different, no burnt omelette, the cheese was visible, fries were great and the salad was more than just lettuce!!! When I spoke to the manager he said nothing he could do as the bill was paid, offered us coffee and said it was unfortunate that we came in at a busy time. How can 2 meals be so different!!! Definitely not recommended and make sure you send your meal back if it’s cold!!! Disappointing

Nice, Italian restaurant, specialist in disorganization in the kitchen. Dishes that arrive following random orders and forcing guests at the same table into solitary dinner situations or, on the contrary, finding all the dishes at the same time. Positive note, although the pizza is the same size as a wristwatch with a price double that of the Italian one, the dough is very good

Came from a nearby clinic and wanted to lunch at Fischers but unfortunately they were unable to accommodate us so walking down the High Street this looked to be a useful alternative. Greeted by an overbearing manager who had all the charm of a hyena, we were quickly taken downstairs as at our advanced ages our faces probably didn’t fit on the ground floor Wife had an overpriced lemon sole which came with no sides whatsoever and I chose the chicken Milanese salad comprising overcooked bits of chicken with some lettuce and Parmesan. Requested a dessert menu where we spied that a 15% discretionary service charge would be added to the already overpriced bill whereupon we decided to leave and proffered 10% service to reflect the slow service from a totally disinterested waitress. The manager then showed himself and no doubt to show their independence said they had removed the service charge totally, An altogether unpleasant meal

Although the pancakes were good, the hollandaise sauce on the eggs royale was the worst I’ve ever had in my life. It ruined the whole experience

The food was delicious the staff where very attentive but relaxed and friendly and we were a family group of 8 and everyone had a great meal. I’m surprised by some of the other reviews here as everyone around us seemed to be having a super time.

Myself and 3 work colleagues stopped past to get food, they gave us a table quickly which was great but it all went down hill from there. We was seated at one of the cave styled seating areas which did feel more special but from there we was left for about 30 mins until anyone came back over to take food or drink orders. Sadly to our disappointment the itilian restaurant did not have pizza , which we were all looking to order…. Maybe this could have been mentored to us when being greeted at the door as we likely would have changed our minds at that point, however we where now 30 mins waiting so we felt we needed to stick it out. The food then took an additional 50 mins and honestly was nothing special maybe 2/5 quality, chips were poor. The service , no one had a smile on their face and generally didn’t feel like a friendly / happy environment.
