Sent the wrong food when ordered via JustEat and wouldn't answer the phone so we couldn't get it replaced.

This place feels a bit like its playing at being a Mexican restaurant. A token guitar and sombrero on the wall with soft jazz playing in the background. A bit confused. The welcome was warm, but the waitress seemed a bit stressed even though there were only 2 tables in. The service was a bit hit and miss. Wrong meals delivered to the wrong tables, again only 3 tables in at that point. The food was ok. Good portion size, but I’ve had better Mexican food.

I came in tonight (Tuesday 4/6/19) with my sister for dinner. I had heard about a new Mexican restaurant opening and was excited to try Mexican food somewhere local in Formby instead of travelling elsewhere. So I have to say we were looking forward to it. When we arrived, considering it was pouring down with rain, we walked in and it appeared to be completely unattended, as the bar was un-staffed so we had to call out to see if anyone was actually here. (we got the feeling that there is only one waiter that doubles as a barmen and one chef atleast on a Tuesday night). We were seated very quickly afterwards and got our drinks pretty quickly, I originally ordered a cocktail which for my taste was too strong and the barmen quickly changed that for free which was nice. We ordered three starters between us Garlic Mushrooms, Garlic bread and the meatballs, all where really nice and sufficient portion sizes. We then ordered our mains which were King Prawn Fajita and BBQ chicken Burrito, I had the King Prawn Fajita and it was sizzling hot and delicious would 100% order again. My sister got the BBQ chicken Burrito and she said it was really tasty but a little heavy so maybe if you are getting this don't get a starter. The Atmosphere was great, the themed music and decor were a lovely touch, got us dancing a little would be really good in a big group with cocktails. Overall lovely experience would definitely go again, just hope it has more staff available on busier evenings.

We always thought it was just an annexe to the Turkish restaurant next door. We got a flier through the door so thought we’d check it out as the menu seemed Mexican enough. Prices on the flier were more expensive than the menu we were given (but were charged the ‘new’ prices anyway). Waiter (definitely not Hispanic) was courteous and efficient. Decor was Mexican themed but the piñatas were a bit old and faded. Latin American pop music over the loudspeakers (would have preferred something more traditionally Mexican like mariachi music). I had albondigas to start which were tasty enough although bread to mop up the sauce would have been useful. Restaurants in England really do seem loathe to give you bread (unless you pay for it of course). We both had fajitas which were quite tasty however - the guacamole was reacting with the air and turning a grey colour - the tortillas were fat too big for the plate. Better 4 smaller ones than 2 huge ones - too much oil on the chicken and chorizo which i had to move to the tortilla with my fork and knife (I hope the tablecloth recovers) Beer price was very reasonable, although a choice of wines by the glass (rather than one for each colour) would have been better. A fair attempt but for my next Mexican I’ll go back to Wahaca in Liverpool One.

We decided to try this new restaurant. The atmosphere was good. The portion size was huge so good value for money. The negatives the menu states the dishes are mild and that you can increase the spice. However the mild was too spicy. We asked for the dessert menu and waited 20mins so went up to the bar to pay. Will not be going back anytime soon.

Our 4th visit since it opened & LAST. We like the food but just can't cope with the service. Hoped it was just an issue with only just opening but its got no better. Every visit they have got the orders wrong & we havn't received what we ordered. Worse this time in addition to wrong food - some of the small plates never even arrived yet they still tried to charge for them. Service is as bad as their sister place next door

We visited La Barra on Saturday night having made the booking earlier that day. The restaurant was very busy. We were shown to our table immediately and the waiter then came over and took our drinks order. He then brought the drinks over and took our food order. The starters arrived in about ten minutes. They were hot, well presented and plentiful. We did have a bit of a wait until our main course was brought over, but the waiter did apologise and explained that two staff members were off. The main course was excellent. The quality of the food was really good and the portion size was more than adequate. When our meal was finished, the chef came out and apologised again for the delay, which to be honest, we were happy with as it gave us an opportunity to talk. We were given complimentary desserts and a Tequila each. There were a couple of people who were not happy with the wait, but we found the whole experience to be very pleasant and will definitely be going back.

Food and staff good. Pub was overcrowded with extra chairs and tables meaning people couldn’t get into the seats of the empty tables as they were blocked by the people sitting behind them. Wetherspoons Southport looked dirty and unkempt, all 3 coffee machines didn’t work. The staff were polite efficient and pleasant and keep the place ticking over. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t go again. The owner makes lots of money and is treating his customers poorly . Outside the tables area was littered with stub ends of cigs why is he allowed to keep tables on the grass verges now covid is over?

The bakers have definitely picked up as a pub, and it took me by surprise with the service I received, all smiley faces and fast service. I got the Chicken New Yorker, which was absolutely delicious with plenty on them. The pints on tap were super fresh and tasty, too. Would go again with my family 110%
