Kwok Brasserie in Edinburgh, City of

It is difficult to describe how poor my meal was. The dim sum starter was lukewarm and pure processed straight from the wholesalers freezer. The main of Szechuan style chicken repeated the failure. The chicken was pure soft rubber without texture, the sauce straight from a tin, but being fair there was some bite in the bamboo shoots. From a tin. The fried noodles may have had some life in them last century.

Delicious! First time going, and most definitely we are going back! So many delicious meals! Had a variety of dishes and all amazing! Clean and tidy, excellent service! BYOB!!

We are locals and have eaten here for many years. It’s always consistently good food. A lovely, small, local, and superbly well run by the owner Rebecca friendly bistro. A few nice bars nearby for drinks after. i.e Leslie’s which is opposite the restaurant.

Brilliant food and attentive staff without feeling rushed. What is even better is that they will do gluten free options including the rice. Have bought take aways from this restaurant many times and it is also 5 star

The place, the staff, all were very hospitable however I mentioned that I am shellfish allergic and they mistakenly still gave my curry which had prawn in it. I’m assuming there was some mixup. I ordered ribs, dimsums, fried rice and chicken curry (which had prawn in it).

Seaweed and dumpling starter followed by Sea Bass and Special rice. Staff were very diligent and helpful.

Nach unserer langen Anreise nach Edinburgh und der noch längeren Wartezeit auf unseren vorletzten Mitreisenden entschieden wir, im Kwok um die Ecke etwas zum Essen zu holen. Die Küche war eigentlich schon geschlossen, trotzdem wurden wir sehr nett empfangen und natürlich konnten wir noch Essen bestellen und mitnehmen.In der Zwischenzeit wurden wir sehr nett von der Inhaberin unterhalten und erzählten ihr auch von uns. Essen war fertig,- aber unser Mitreisender war immer noch nicht angekommen. Eine Stunde danach endlich essen - und es war fantastisch gut und auch noch warm!

We are there from Canada, found it to have great food, service and atmosphere. Lots of options to choose from.

We haven't eaten in the restaurant, but we have certainly enjoyed a takeaway meal. The food is fresh, delicious and very reasonably priced. We have never been disappointed with any of the meals purchased.

Fine menu with more than the standard offerings. Not cheap, but excellently prepared food. Good service even when crowded. So more expensive than average but very much better than average. A nice restaurant in a relative desert of eateries.

Visited on the weekend with friends, great choice of foods , very friendly and helpful staff, during what was a pretty full restaurant, food was excellent, we chose from their chefs specials and we were all very pleased with what we got. They say it’s BYOB and we brought our own, but they do have a licence and a small selection of wines and beers etc to choose from as well.

Encontramos este restaurante por casualidad hace 12 años y decidimos volver a visitar nuestra última visita a Edimburgo. Me complace decir que no me decepcionó. Los propietarios fueron muy acogedores y amables y cuidaron a nuestro hijo de 9 años. Teníamos el dim sum mixto que era divino. Probamos las gambas saladas y chili y el pescado a la parrilla al estilo de Beijing con un pollo agridulce. Todos eran encantadores y sabrosos y servidos con prontitud. No podría criticarlo y a un precio razonable también. Esperemos que no pasen otros 12 años antes de que regresemos.

Turning up unannounced can go either way, but they were really accommodating for the 4 of us. We are a foodie bunch and go to a lot of places and order lots of food in order to try multiple plates. This was a really nice meal. The garlic chicken and garlic languistine was some of the best I've had. If you don't like garlic, choose something else, there's a lot of garlic! Prices are quite cheap for a Chinese restaurant and the wine wasn't that expensive either. Portions are decent sizes enough for 2-3 to share especially if there are multiple plates. Very friendly staff, and all in all so nice we went back the next night. If going on weekend, would advise to book otherwise there may be a wait, but don't worry as there's a pub directly opposite

Nuestro camarero nos advirtió que tuviéramos cuidado de que las placas laterales para nuestros entrantes estuvieran calientes, pero cuando llegaron los entrantes, estaban fríos como la piedra en la que vino mi primer plato. Delighted to have visited this restaurant after many years to find the menu changes and they’re cooking with no added MSG.

Came to Kwok as a last minute night out and had an excellent meal. BYOB kept the cost down but the food and service could not be faulted. Will be back soon!

What a fantastic little place. As a regular customer to this Chinese restaurant, I felt this was time to sign up to trip advisor and finally give it recognition for several fantastic dinners!

Ordered food to take away (sweet and sour chicken in batter, salt and chili crispy chicken, BBQ ribs, vegetable spring rolls and egg fried rice). Was ready for pickup within 15 mins (had ordered at 18:00). The staff were really kind and lovely when I went to pick up.

I haven't been here for years as I felt it went a little downhill. They have re-decorated which seems to have given them a new lease of life. Food and service was brilliant.

Prices doubled in August?? Food good but not good for the price .. restaurant is definitely a cheap and cheerful option. If prices remain the same won't be back. If prices go back to normal then poor sow for being greedy at peak time. Also "special curry " would normally contain lots of large prawns, no prawns this time just meat? Complained and money deducted but obviously visitors would be none the wiser!

Estado aquí varias veces y siempre el servicio es genial. El pato crujiente siempre es poquito más de hecho, lo que significa que está fantástico y crujientes. Tostadas de gambas fritas así deliciosamente grasienta. Mi pareja le encanta el curry mezclado y el especial gran plato siempre está llena hasta los topes. El limón el pollo es fenomenal como el szechuean y el frijol negro. Sin duda muy básica cabía sondeos "proyecto barato y alegre". Trae tu propia botella sin servir licor, lo hace aún más un ganador!

Only 4 prawn toast's, which were too oily and quite rubbery when other restaurants charge the same price for 8 well cooked ones. Salt and chilli chicken was lovely. Order was also 15 minutes late for only 2 dishes

We had a wonderful experience! We ordered a set menu for 2 people and were allowed to change one dish (which we did because one of us was vegetarian). We got enough food for four people just adding a few extra starters. The service was great and staff members were kind and attentive. Really good, will order again :-)

Cuando empezamos a ir a la Kwok Brasserie alrededor de hace 10 años, el dueño era un hombre llamado Peter que era muy acogedor y amable y todo funcionaba eficientemente.

Nos alojamos en la casa de huéspedes Lauderville, bajando la calle, y por casualidad, pasó por qué encontrar. La comida aquí es increíble, de buena calidad y bien preparada. Lo disfrutamos mucho, y el personal es muy, muy amable y servicial. Volveremos seguro. Otro restaurante en la ciudad intentó y la comida no estaba a la par con las Kwok.

Everything tasted VERY sweet, this ruined the whole meal. I can't believe everything tasted so sweet i definitely won't order from here again!!

El personal es siempre muy educado y servicial, y nada parece demasiado problema para alterar un plato de preferencia personal. Nunca hemos sentado para usar el restaurante pero id supongo que es muy bueno!

Maureen and I went here last night. Had a really lovely meal. Food was plentiful and tasted lovely, service was good and friendly. BYOB arrangements. We will certainly go back.

1 hour and 15 minutes in not acceptable as delivery time, Kwok Brasserie added 30 minutes to an already lengthy wait. I would not have ordered if I had known the actual wait.

Last order from here, used to be consistently good, not anymore. Diet coke is months out of date too, tastes like plastic. Noodles all clumped together, barely a dribble of black bean sauce on them.

This is our local Chinese , service and food is always superb. It also offers BYOB and there is a wine shop just a couple of doors away so it's worth popping in although wine prices are very reasonable anyway if a little limited

usually our food from here is spot on, tonight everything was bland and tasteless, i was like old ingredients had been used, to ensure an early dinner, i pre ordered and paid online at 1635, the note said delivery would be 1745, then it changed to 1815, it eventually arrived at 1845 and was only tepid and not very nice, with ordering so early, i cant understand how it took so long, £30 down the drain, plus another £20 for the chippy we had to buy. NOT GOOD

I have ordered from this restaurant three times now. Every time the order is ready to be picked up promptly and the food is very tasty.

The food was very tasty. I do question why there was a card surcharge for orders over £10, I've not seen this for ages, but it's not high so I'm not that bothered.

Delivery was over 25minutes late. The main was cold and the sardi starter was burnt and the chips were like rubber. We ended up going to the restaurant to return the order and get refunded.

The food wasn't great and it definitely wasn't worth the 2 and a half hour wait. I was absolutely starving but by the time it finally arrived I didn't even want to eat it.

Took my order. Gave a delivery time 1 1/2 hours from the time of order but didn't arrive. Arrived a further 50 mins later. Good food, but should have been up front that they were struggling to fulfil my order. I would have gone elsewhere. To deliver 2 1/2 hours after I ordered sucks.

Order from here alot. Never dissapoints. My boyfriend is allergic to peanuts and they dont cook in nut oil so always safe. Chicken bites are my favourite! So delicious. Very fresh and tasty. Highly recommend ☺

I've reviewed Rebecca Kwok's brasserie before, but it seemed like a good time for an update as it is almost certainly over a year since I last reviewed. And we've probably eaten at The Kwok 20 or more times since. As is usual for us, Irene and I dropped in for our tea earlier this week. What we've learned being regulars is just how many other regulars The Kwok has. Lots of others like us come back time after time. Our reasons are:1-great and reliable food2-friendly service 3-pleasant ambience4-Rebecca is such a nice lady and she has a nice bunch of staff. It's been a pleasure getting to know the folk better over time. Every time someone new starts, within a couple of visits Rebecca has them trained to get our drinks ready and on the table within about two minutes of is sitting down. Irene is particular about how she likes her diet cola. The Kwok is among the very few places on planet Earth where the staff get it right first time. Keep it up guys.

As always the food was excellent and at a very reasonable price. Delivery on time too.

This showing that my food was delivered at 22.40. The estimated time my food was to be ordered was 22.40. My food still hasn't arrived. The restaurant closed at 22.30. How can I do a review on food that I haven't even received. Don't think I will be ordering from here again. Have ordered from here during the day and food was lovely not was very late.
