We had a pleasant lunch here, with delicious Hong Kong authentic dishes served and great services and hospitality offered by the boss and staffs. Don’t missed it if you are here in Edinburgh.

Popped in here impromptu before theatre. Staff were all lovely and our waiter was super polite and friendly. Food was delicious, and they definitely live up to the express part of the name with quick efficient service!!. Place including toilets (which are always a giveaway)- very clean. Unexpectedly good. Will definitely be back. Great job!!!

Recently, Xiaosheng was walking on the windy and rainy streets of Edinburgh when he happened upon a Chinese restaurant and took a seat without thinking twice. Unexpectedly, as soon as I sat down, I felt like I was back home - as soon as the hot water came on, my heart softened. The store owner is attentive and gentle in his words, and he even hands out his chopsticks very appropriately. The food was served quickly and tasted very authentic. Xiaosheng was so excited after eating it that he couldn't help but sigh: There are fireworks in foreign countries. This chance encounter is truly a blessing.

We found this jem by accident. 3 meals in 5 days. Beautifully well run restaurant. Clean. A real pleasure.

Very welcoming. When we entered the door, we brought whiskey and provided ice cubes. After the meal, there was also sugar water and oranges😃 The dry-fried beef river is excellent, the steamed sea bass is fresh and tastes different from that in China, and the barbecued pork with white-cut chicken is very thin.

Asked if whole steamed fish was fresh, but it was not. However preparation was good. Yang Chow fried rice was substandard. Rice was hard, the chicken strips were tasteless, char Siu was very dried and most likely leftovers. Was disappointed with the food. Service was excellent though. Can’t win them all!

Super recommended! The food was delicious, in fact, there were a lot of Asian people which makes me think that it is good for them too. The place was very nice, but the service was first class, the waiter was extremely friendly and attentive, in fact, when I entered I brought a snack and another drink, and even though I had not bought it there, he offered to bring me a glass and serve it to me with a little ice. The truth is that he seemed like a very nice person to me, just like the other workers I can say that everyone always treated us the best. If I ever return to Edinburgh, I will definitely return there. 🫰🫰

I got a place there in the evening on a weekday without a reservation. The food was delicious and the waiter (vl boss) was very nice. The food was prepared very quickly, but I'm assuming there are some sort of pre-prepared ingredients since it was really quick. Just a guess, I'm not an expert there. I definitely recommend the establishment. The portion is much more filling compared to other restaurants in the area. You can also order something to pick up. Prices are ok, but you often don't get the same satisfaction for the same price. Thank you👍

The boss uncle was so nice that he gave us a dish, fruit and sugar water, which made us feel embarrassed🙈The barbecued pork and roast goose tasted very authentic Hong Kong style, and the most important thing was that it was not oily! The other dishes are also delicious! Highly recommended!

Great Cantonese comfort food when you've been traveling for a while. The dishes we tried were not only delicious with portions that were generous, making them perfect for sharing with family or friends. Additionally, we were pleasantly surprised by a delightful complimentary dessert that perfectly rounded off our meal, along with some fresh oranges (forgot to take pic) that added a refreshing touch.

Although the menu is mainly in simplified Chinese, the food has a Hong Kong flavor The old man speaks fluent Cantonese😆 The stir-fried beef river and barbecued pork rice are both delicious Zhongyou oranges and sugar water are given as extras!

Conveniently located in the old town, just across the street from Ibis. Quite authentic but pricey. Expect to pay around £20 to £25 per head for a simple lunch. Recommended.

The place was so nice. I had a twice. I recommend they open a shops in Seattle, Washington Tacoma, Washington in Federal Way. Washington, thanks for the food is delicious. I come back in the near future.

Possibly the best Chinese in Edinburgh. Uber eats let us down and cancelled after 2 hours of waiting, Jimmys express delivered themselves. Can’t recommend more!

Did not like the mix vegetable chowmein The vegetables were not stir fried with the noodles, just added in the top. They were sticky. Also not a good variety of vegetables. Money wasted.

A hidden gem in Edinburgh. Excellent authentic Chinese food, great customer service from all the staff from start to finish. Portions were large so a few dishes were easily enough to share between 2. Spotlessly clean restaurant throughout. The website said it was fully booked but we ignored that and walked down to take our chances. Plenty of tables left for walk ins so I’d say no need to book. (Visited on a Saturday evening) would recommend. Reasonable priced.

I wish I could, but I cannot without lying to myself give this restaurant five stars. Coming from Sichuan, the dishes were not very authentic at all. The fuqifeipian tasted all wrong to me as did the other Sichuan dishes we ordered. Also, the yuxiangqiezi was pretty good. Perhaps we shouldn’t be ordering Sichuan dishes from what doesn’t appear to be a Sichuan restaurant, but honestly! It doesn’t even taste remotely close to what I am used to in China. The service was good though, although it was slightly expensive. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend, but it wasn’t terrible by all means.

We’ve been traveling in UK for 2 weeks We found the best Chinese foods in Edinburgh Foods so fresh like roasted duck, BBQ pork, steamed chicken with garlic sauce, steamed fish and stir fried vegetables. 5 stars to service take work as a team work. All customers in restaurants so happy to eat at Jimmy Express.

The environment is very clean, the food tastes very good, it is a very authentic Hong Kong-style restaurant, the roasted white-cut chicken is delicious, and the service is also excellent. I have been given sago juice twice since I came here, which is so considerate! Sometimes they even give you some fruit, which is so nice! If you want to eat Chinese food in Edinburgh, you can consider this place, you won't be disappointed

We were in Scotland for 2 weeks and ate here 3 times. This is hands down the best Chinese food I've had in a restaurant. Everything about this place is wonderful. We ate the shared meal for four and we were stuffed. The next 2 trips we ordered individual meals. It was close to Christmas and at the end of the meal they gave a sweet gift to each of us. It was a small canister of tea. If you're in the area, I encourage you to try this hidden gem. I'll be back on my next trip!!

I walked into this restaurant spontaneously with my friends, and I couldn't have been more impressed. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for an incredible dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious—every bite bursting with flavor and prepared to perfection. The atmosphere was equally remarkable, striking the perfect balance between cozy and vibrant, making it a great place to unwind and enjoy good company. However, what truly stood out was the exceptional customer service. It was, without a doubt, the best I’ve ever encountered. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and well taken care of, which made a lasting impression on me. In fact, my first experience was so wonderful that I went back the very next day! And I know I’ll be returning again soon, as there’s still so much more on the menu that I’m excited to try. Loved the quality food, friendly and welcoming host and their servers. The portions are huge in our opinion. Each dish is at least for two people. So if you are eating alone, order max of two dishes is good enough. One of which is starch or you may have to bag it home! The taste is perfect for us. The price is standard for most restaurants in the area but reasonable. During our stay there, we dined there 4 times over 6 nights and enjoyed each and every time. Btw you have to try their hotpots. We tried both chicken and beef on seperate occasions. We preferred the beef to be honest. Great service as well. We were served by Calvin several times. The bloke looks serious but he's actually very funny 🤣 once he starts chatting. I can say that we will remember Edinburgh fondly, and Jimmy's would be one of the reasons. Update.. 14/1/2025. Went back again to visit Jimmy's after two years. This time with my brother-in-law and friend. This time it's like a reunion with close friends. Great food, company and catch-up. The same feeling but better. Had dinner twice over the two nights we stayed. Looking forward to visiting again in the future.

Ordered the chicken chowmain and lemon chicken chicken tasted cheap and slimy even the dog turned his nose up at it and for £15 a meal it should be too notch totally cost 34.28 including delivery 😳

The friendly service helped us not to order too much and even gave us an extra plate of barbecued pork. Of course, there were also oranges.

OMG the best restaurant forever!!! Chashao is very nice and the staff there are really welcoming and friendly. Absolutely the best choice if you just visited the museum cus it has a very good location.

The restaurant was so clean and inviting, and we were taken to a table immediately! The service was excellent! We had the duck and chashu noodle soup and the singapore chow mein which were delicious. We were also given delicious mandarins and fortune cookies at the end! Thankyou so much!

The staff were so helpful and accommodating. Great atmosphere, fast service, really good food and warm on a cold rainy night. They can teach the rest of the restaurant’s in the area a lot about service and being helpful and friendly.

It’s delicious and affordable. If you like braised beef and money tripe, go for the husband and wife lung slices (it’s not chewy at all and has a perfect texture that can’t be chewed) 🥹Finally, the service attitude is super good and it feels so friendly. If it’s also open in Manche Just be nice 🥹

Typical HK restaurant with a wide variety food that serves both hong kong and chinese style food. The roast pork are delicious. Wanton noodles and Sichuan sour fish are only so so. Ice red bean is nice as dessert. Staff are friendly unlike typical HK servers.

We traveled from Sydney to visit UK. Stayed in Edinburgh for two nights. My family went to this restaurant twice and we really enjoyed the food there. The price is fair and the taste is good, the dishes are prepared very quickly as well. Highly recommended if you want to try the Chinese restaurant in Edinburgh.

Delicious food that came very quick! It’s called Jimmy Express for a reason. We had the Ho Fun, brisket, crispy shredded beef, and lamb curry, which we highly recommend. We also got little extras at the end, which was really sweet! We will definitely come here again next time we are in Edinburgh.

A very, very, very good Chinese restaurant

Was intending to go to another restaurant but passed by and thought this place looked good, and I am so glad we chose to come here. We got the char siew rice, beef hor fun and hot and sour soup, they were all delicious and portions were pretty good too. The staff were also super friendly and gave us free tangerines and sago dessert!

AMAZING. Great and fast service. Complimentary crackers, tangerines, and fortune cookies. Great food. A bit expensive but very large portions. We got honey chicken and 2 plain chow mein. Very filling for 2 people. AMAZING!

Jimmy's Express in Edinburgh lives up to its name - we've never had service so quickly. However, it feels rushed and you don't have any peace to devote to eating. The food itself is very tasty. At the end everyone received a fortune cookie and a tangerine.

The Xinjiang Stew is great, very spicy. Char siu and duck is quite bland, honey chicken wings were average and not worth the price. Friendly staff and chill atmosphere

Decided to give this place a try as it was conveniently situated nearby. There was no queue when I arrived and was seated to my table almost immediately. I had the curry chicken rice and it didn't take long to be served. The food was okay in my opinion and it helped to satisfy my cravings for Asian food. Kudos to Mr. Lau (whom I believe was the floor manager) who was attentive and he was nice enough to offer a Mandarin orange and also a sago soup dessert.

Excellent! I had been years before but forgot what the name of the dish I ordered was. They were quick and patient. As soon as it came out I knew instantly it was the dish I wanted. And it was as good as it was years ago. 🤤

Restaurant is spotlessly clean and attractive. We ordered 2 mains. They were served with a small portion of prawn crackers. Aversge food arrived lukewarm within 2 minutes of ordering so we were in and out in 20 minutes. Overpriced and I grudged the 10% service charge as there was no chat and the bill was placed on the table without us asking for it. Not a nice dining out experience.

The boss was super nice. He gave us extra barbecued pork and fried eggs, and four more bowls of bird's nest. The bird's nest was delicious.

If there was a 6 star for service, this restaurant deserved it. Timely service, pulling out tables to help you sit in booths. And really solid food. My wife and I ordered the executive special, and I have 0 complaints. Honestly, they could serve me microwaved water, and they'd still get a recommendation from me.

I saw the reviews and I couldn’t help but walk all the way there from the other side of the city centre to try! Upon entering the place was very clean, tidy and the music was the perfect volume. The aesthetic is also very modern and fancy for a casual dine in. The boss there seems very passionate about running the place right and he’s got the perfect team behind him. I ordered the beef brisket, chicken noodles and HK sweet and sour chicken. Every single thing I ordered was so delicious and the beef brisket was no joke! It’s the most amazing beef brisket I’ve ever had. Customer service was excellent and staff served promptly! I’m very glad I visited this place, it’s my first time in Edinburgh and I hope to come back again! Thank you

I am just a tourist here, but I have never had a Chinese food that could be terrible to this level. I guess there are not many Chinese food around in town. The manager asked us how was the food, we said it tasted bad and his face turned cold immediately and didn't ask anything further, it looks like he's not willing to improve nor clarify further at all. :)

The best restaurant we were in during our time in Edinburgh. We are from Spain and we still remember the wings with honey and rice. Everyone was very attentive and even gave us mandarin oranges and fortune cookies. 10/10

Food portion is very poor. Ordered a char siu and roast duck with rice. 5 pieces of char siu and 4 pieces of duck of which all came from the back of the duck. No meat on them at all. On the other hand, they have outstanding service! Extremely friendly staff!

It’s a restaurant recommended by a friend~ I ordered sweet chicken, barbecued pork rice and roasted duck rice, and I felt like I was going home in an instant👍It was very delicious😋...The waiter’s service was also very considerate, and he gave me some fruits and oranges after the meal. Packing fee, awesome!

A very good restaurant with attentive service, delicious food and very good value for money. After eating it, I felt like I could go back to China in one click. I will try it again next time I come to Edinburgh.
