China Red in Edinburgh, City of

W went here last night for something to eat before a gig and i must say i was disappointed after the reviews , the irish waitress is fantastic and the best thing about the place , the food wasn’t great but woraw than the food the toilets ? i used the woman’s toilets and they where dishusting the toilet seats look like they have never been cleaned and my husband said the same about the men’s . there are plenty other better places to eat i would seriously give this a miss

but just got bloody terrified with some dishes. The sea food's clearly gotten its beautiful sear under those lights. Scry aura vibes. But solid if you're only hitting the chow mein

Love this place. The staff are super friendly, apologies, I forgot to get the ladies name (Irish accent), is just the best. So kind and attentive. Love it here

La comida estaba genial, la pasamos bien, pero cuando una de las camareras vino a limpiar los platos de la mesa, decidió tocar el pelo de mis hijos (tiene el pelo rizado) Simplemente no creo que debas hacer eso. Y casi al final de la noche mi hijo estaba explorando ya que solo tiene 2 años, otra camarera decidió que quería recoger a mi hijo, lo que me pareció un poco raro, ya que no tiene idea de quién es. Lo devolví rápidamente.

love it here. Went there so many times and I have never been mad about anything here. The kids love it there too, We do not go that much so I think thats why we love it. The food has so much flavor love it recommend coming here.

Disappointed for our 2nd time in a row. Standards have dropped. Many of the dishes were no more than a little warm and not really tasting as labelled. Pancakes were over boiled and all stuck together/soggy. No puff soup(my wife's favourite) again..!!

Another excellent visit to China Red. Food and service was great. Whole family enjoyed it. Special mention to the waitress who was looking after us. She was excellent the whole time we were there, apologies, I never caught her name but she was Irish although didn't particularly like my choice of football team :-) :-) :-) She was first class.

Oh my!!! My husband and I have just come back to Edinburgh for our first year wedding anniversary tomorrow and had to visit here again!! My word the food and service was amazing. Kelly our sever was ace such a credit to the place. I absolutely recommend this place!! ❤️❤️

We come once or twice every month. Didn’t expect too much just wanted comfort food. But getting more disappointed every time. Prefer Cosmo more

Good choice of buffet and very friendly staff

La comida era muy promedio para un buffet y no tenía tantas opciones como me hubiera gustado. Disfruté de la sal y pimienta pollo y setas. La gente dejaba las tapas abiertas así que mucha comida era tibia. Sé que eso no fue culpa del restaurante, pero ¿podría un miembro del personal no cerrarlos? Cuando fui a buscar un gofre para el desierto había uno sentado, pero había estado allí durante un tiempo, así que pedí uno fresco y lo hicieron para nosotros. Tuve un cóctel de Sexo en la Playa, parecía agua de vajilla y realmente no sabía a nada. Nuestro servidor (una dama irlandesa) era encantador y servicial. Creo que no volvería.

Second time ordering, only because Tang is closed on a Monday. First time ordering half the order was missing. This time no food at all. After calling them after over an hour, got told it would be at least another half hour. No apology, or even a notification. Sandwich tonight, torn up the menu and will order a tang tomorrow. Pathetic.

Actualmente estoy sentado en la calle edimburgo rojo molido de China esperando en la salsa de curry comming fuera ya que no queda ninguno , 11 minutos han pasado ahora cuando el personal dijo que sería fuera en 3 minutos , las otras 10 personas con las que estoy sentado están sentados comiendo no ya que todavía estoy esperando en la salsa de curry que se está sacando. Creo que es una vergüenza que un gran establecimiento que anuncia buffet se quede sin salsa de curry esto es algo que hubiera pensado que estaría disponible. El personal no era muy servicial solo dijo que estará fuera cuando esté listo desgracia por lo que es . Gracias china red por estropear una comida de cumpleaños cuando finalmente comí tuve que tener salsa agridulce insípida acuosa y por la cantidad que se cobra que es repugnante. Louise

Great Chinese buffet in Edinburgh. Food was great with a good selection. Also very hot which is rare for a buffet. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Prices a little more than usual but the quality matched the price. We will be visiting again

The food here is good but can be a little dry or cold. All the staff are lovely but seemed a little rushed as there weren't many of them for the number of people at the restaurant. The plates on one of the stacks were also so hot it would have burned my hands to hold it for too long, so be aware of that if you go. Overall, the food is lovely, and the price is fair for the quality.

It’s by far the best restaurant in the city. It’s my third time in Edinburgh, and I’m visiting China Red every time . A great variety of Chinese cuisine, unlimited soft drinks and deserts , very pleasant atmosphere and all stuff very kind . Especially K , is very friendly. Congratulations

The food all seemed like it was made from thawed frozen food. This is the worst restaurant. There is no food available to eat. Koreans should never go there I really regret it

China Red welcome customers to enjoy its variegated Chinese cuisine. Lot of deep fried foods in this buffet are acceptably good. The pork spareribs and fish fillets in chili sauces are the delicious one. Sushi bar, in my opinion, is a little underwhelming with not much options to choose from. The dessert section has lot of interesting and nice options. I went it in lunch time which is cheaper but supposedly less option than dinner time. I believe dinner time with give customers more satisfaction to indulge in their cuisine.

Love the food, so much varieties and even have egg boy waffle . They got everything I wanted. I would prefer this buffet than so call authentic chinese resturant, like Imperial Palace.

Went here for dinner tonight as we’re staying nearby. Please don’t go here. It’s absolutely disgusting! We paid £53 and all we could eat was chips, chicken wings and spring rolls. Everything was tasteless. Sauces were like water. This photo is meant to be a curry. The food was cold. All the lids were left up. Even the fried rice had noodles were tasteless.

Todos los demás platos tienen salsa acuosa y nada auténtico. Tuve que pedir una copa en ambas ocasiones y luego el barman y la camarera tuvieron una discusión llena entre sí en frente de los clientes y algunos con niños! ¡No hay nada profesional en este lugar! ¡Mi consejo es que pruebes en otro sitio!

Good choices of Chinese food and modified version of Peking duck. They also have hibachi seafood to offer. All were offered under all you can eat buffet.

Food is great, However, one of the staff who's wearing glasses is very rude. He should have informed us in a polite way that our time is finished and not being an arrogant huffy manner by saying “hey, your time is out you need to go and pay. Awful experience😔

I have been too ill to complain or post this review in weeks due to visiting China Red. Sick for almost a month from food poisoning & E coli. Strongly recommend a visit if you have a spare 6 week dose of antibiotics.. Or if you are trying to loose weight rapidly.. Off work for 3 straight weeks…

A great buffet experience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh who wants a break from the wonderful Scottish cuisine available elsewhere. The staff attentiveness to customers goes above and beyond .

Fuimos aquí basado en buenas críticas de Tripadvisor y no nos decepcionó. Un poco escondido entre los edificios de la calle, necesitábamos la ubicación en el mapa. La comida era buena, barata y la camarera principal era muy servicial. Ella sugirió tener un solo vaso, ya que podíamos rellenarlo tantas veces como quisiéramos. Al final de la noche, aunque insistimos en que incluso rechazó nuestra propina!

We came for dinner at 2 p.m. We were told they close at 3pm. No problem for us at least since the all you can eat buffet. The young waiter had just swept the floor and came to the table wearing rubber gloves to pick up the drinks. I found it unpleasant and inappropriate. There were no baked prawns or shrimp at the buffet. There was only a few sushi left. The classic vegetable soup was very thick and jelly-like, very spicy and without the black morels. The sweet and sour sauce didn't taste good. I'm used to it differently. The young man was friendly, but explained to me that some things are only available in the evening buffet. So we just got what we like. Unfortunately there were no warm baked bananas, only cold ones and no honey. Price 36 pounds with drinks okay.

A huge variery in choice but very poor quality. I had ribs, chicken and even sushis. They were all dry and tasted like old meat. The only decent thing I had was chicken in Thai sauce. Very disappointed for that price !

I used to visit this place quite often and enjoyed it, but my recent experience was disappointing. On a rainy day, I went there, only to be told that their card machine was down and they were only accepting cash. With no advance notice about this issue, I was left in a tough spot after making the trip in the rain. This lack of communication and inconvenience has made me reconsider going back in the future.

Visited tonight, an excellent selection of food. We were served by an excellent woman (I believe she was Irish?) Very attentive and chatty, we never had to wait long to have our plates taken, or our water topped up. Would highly recommend visiting.

I went for dinner and the truth is that I was very surprised since I did not expect much quality, but both in terms of quality and price, it is undoubtedly a more than recommended place and the waiters' treatment was very good.

We went here in 2018 and I'm still thinking about it.

Nice place, clean, friendly and pleasant enough buffet restaurant, good value to boot It is what it is - mass distribution buffet at a cost effective price. No frills. The food is good, but has the downfalls of buffet! Almost too much selection which means food is replenished slower ! So you need to ensure you eat the fresh new replenished dishes to get the food at its best. Some dishes had sat a while and were past their best. The service was good, we had a lovely lady server who was down to earth with a real sense of humour. So do I recommend? depends what you are looking for. Would I rush back? probably not, but that’s not to say is did not enjoy the food. I have just had better Chinese buffets so have rated as average

One of the best Chinese buffet style restaurants we have been in. Shame it’s so far away from home. Selection was huge, some very strange but worth a try as all well cooked. Best recommendation was the next table from china 😋. Good value always a plus.

All you can eat self service Chinese restaurant that has all the dishes you would expect, and some more. Bright and colourful interior, the pots of tea are good, as was the staff and relaxed atmosphere (at lunchtime) . It's located right next to the Usher Hall.

Hadn't been here for years. Dropped in one lunch time and had a good selection of food, although some of the meat was a little dry. Decided in future I'd return in the evening as there is a larger variety of food - no dumplings for example. Very friendly service and reasonably priced drinks.

In the UK, a Chinese buffet that costs less than 30 pounds is considered rich. Children love egg waffles the most.

Absolutely recommend they had such a variety of foods but mainly Chinese but it was great for everyone and even the picky eaters had options. The food was always stocked and there were also many desserts. I loved it and thought it was definitely worth the cheap price as I stuffed down 10 plates, stomach did hurt a lot after

Can't fault the food as it's very good for a buffet, the price however is heavy, I made the mistake of getting a coke Intead of water 😅 should have been £18 which I can live with, however I got charged £24 as a result of the drink. Live and learn. The grub was very good and for that reason I will be back

We went to China Red on Sunday for Lunch. It is an All you can eat buffet. The 12 to 1 pm slot is the pick time when it is a little bit crowded. The table is for 90 minutes. It was 18.99£ for Sunday Lunch. Lunch hour is from 12 to 4.30 pm.

My husband and I went for lunch. First impressions: clean, great looking food, friendly helpful staff. Food was good, plenty of choice. Teppanyaki bar as well. Prices were good for what it is. I had beef curry, the beef was so tender it fell apart in the mouth- ideal for pensioners. Lively atmosphere as it was busy but good none the less. Dessert were good as well, ice cream, cake and fruit on offer.

Very decent food. Exactly what you'd expect from a Chinese buffet. Drinks machine is really good. Aye a good meal.

This is a little gem of a place. Loads to choose from and good quality food. We would definitely recommend this to our friends and family and we would definitely go back.

The best Chinese buffet I've ever eaten at :) It's our first time here, but definitely not the last. The service was very nice and friendly. Our waitress Kanchan is a very nice person.
