Kung Fu Chinese Buffet in Kingston upon Thames

Food was very poor, no flavour. The ribs were like leather, impossible to chew, soup was barely warm. Just to complete the expeience I got food poisoning which continued for 8 days. Reported to Kingston authorities. Avoid at all costs

Paid over £90 for me my partner and kids to eat, once finished my parter asked for a box to take the rest home and they refused to give us a box. They said they needed to review the cctv see that we hadn't stolen anything. I try to explain to the lady that we had paid for our food and we should be able to take it home as it was paid for. Because the lady at the front desk didn't like this she the proceeds to then bar us from the restaurant. All we wanted to do was take our food home they we had paid for. Very rude and very ignorant staff in this establishment. Even the security guard who let us down in the lift said they are very rude and and have very poor people skills. Please stay clear

I have come to the restaurant many times with friends and family. Never disappointed. Always attentive. Great choice of drinks. Very tasy food. Great staff. Always topping up bowls with more food. Made lots of memories.

Took my family to Kung Fu and they charged me £8 for a baby the lady just kept saying all children the same, the staff was rude very poor people skills, avoid this place

Very poor food and tasted like it’s been out all day or even could even people’s left overs. Lukewarm and cold food which did not taste good, I wonder if they had an Inspection Recently cause it’s definitely need one & sadly gone down hill. A table of people next to us walked out due to a member of staff being so rude to them about someone having an allergy to mushrooms . (They did not know what dishes has not been in contact with them ) Don’t waste your money, it seems I’m not the only one who’s had a bad experience.

Don’t waste your time or money. The food is not that good to be honest and the staff are rude and unprofessional. Especially the lady at the front desk. I don’t know what her issues are with babies and children but they are clearly a problem. I asked her if her problem was that people bringing their children and not paying for them. She said, “yes”. I told her that has nothing to do with me. My grandson is one, he won’t be eating too much but I will pay for him if he can’t have spoonful of my rice. A one year old is hardly going to eat anything. She was so rude we had to leave and find something else to eat. Wish I could give 0 stars. I will never come back. This place and previous owners used to be so nice.

Unfortunately they are not deserve even one star Rude staff unprofessional service if you are looking to waste your money go there i have been there with my friends and we asked to top up empty dish but staff acting rude to us and said that you paid £11 and it's what it's and we can't serve more and if you are not happy don't back in again!!!! Imagine how rude they are I give it strange advice to the owner of the business if you want your business, shut it down leave it to this member group. They are professional to shut it down any business.

I went to eat alone around 2:30 PM, but all that was left were a few stale main dishes and some dried-out, shriveled fried food. It tasted terrible, and I was really frustrated. Then, I saw the staff bringing out a generous amount of freshly prepared food—only to realise it was for themselves.

All dishes nearly empty ask to have a cupple things toped up fell on deaf ears came back to sister in laws house and with 30 mins started vomiting continued vomiting every half hour or so from 9pm till 4.30 in morning have savear food poisoning my nephew was also sick and vomited 🤢

Love the staff. Great variety of food. Comfortable and relaxing area. Going therr often with my husband for a chilled dinner with lots of choice. (Chocolate fountain is my favourite)

Food was awful . Cold, Not much flavour . Worst Crispy Duck I’ve ever tasted - looked like bread crumbs rather than duck - not edible . Sweet corn soup had an awful taste - another inedible dish . Wide variety but tbh nothing tasted nice and all the meats were cheap cuts Do not go it’s not worth the money even though it was only £16.99 pp

I had high hopes for this place, but it was a complete disappointment. The buffet was one of the worst I’ve ever had—limited selection, lukewarm food, and nothing tasted fresh. Most of the dishes seemed like they had been sitting out for hours, and some trays were nearly empty with no sign of being refilled. The meats were dry, the vegetables were soggy, and even the desserts looked sad and unappetizing. To make things worse, the atmosphere was just depressing. The decor looked like it hadn’t been updated in decades—worn-out furniture, dim lighting, and an overall dingy feel. It was more like a cafeteria from the past than a restaurant worth paying for. The service wasn’t much better. The staff seemed uninterested, and clearing tables was clearly not a priority, as we had to sit near a pile of dirty dishes for most of our meal. Overall, this place was a complete waste of time and money. If you’re looking for a decent buffet, look elsewhere—I definitely won’t be coming back.

We came as a table 6+ We paid with 3 cards and got our table. When we all start eating, one of the staff members starts walking around our table and watching us like we are about to pack the food in our bags or jackets. At some point, we start talking about it , and she starts to make us feel uncomfortable.... What happened? Lady on the till didn't charge for one person and she decided to come and disturb whole table telling that we didn't pay for 1 person... that she thinks she made a mistake and she can go and double-check. I work in hospitality as well... mistakes happened... but don't come to our table during our meal and disturb the whole table (and people around us) telling us we didn't pay for 1 .... she could call just one of us on the side or wait for us to finish and explain what happened...

Very nice food. Best service compared to all chinese buffets in London. Never go to all you can eat chinese in Leicester square china town. Go here insted!

Hungry and love Chinese food? This is the best place to go, if you in Kingston. There's all you can eat for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Skip your breakfast and have plenty of fun there with friends or family

We have come here a few times over the years but today was the worst. Hardly any selection of food. About 4 options for dessert. Fountain turned off and chocolate going hard. The small selection of food they did have tasted ok. The fresh food selection was unavailable. None of our plates were removed so no space on the table. This was at 5pm, i would understand if they were about to close.I would suggest McDonald's or greggs down the road

Food does not look fresh and it's cold. Dessert disgusting ( Looks like ,it's been left there for 2 days )and they don't top up when the food finishes and have to ask all the time.Poor cleanliness...Not worth the money ! I think I can cook better Chinese noodles and fried rice than them. Avoid please!. I will recommend Tang's buffet (Google it) Their food always top notch . I regret coming to this restaurant.

Visited for the first time today as a birthday treat for my husband. Nice clean spacious premises. We arrived approx 12.15 for the buffet- after collecting our food and tucking in, the first comment between us was how cold the food was. The mushrooms and broccoli and most the vegetables were stone cold, which we wouldnt expect after only 15 mins after opening. They definitely need to invest in some heat lamps ! Very disappointed - doubt we will return, it's good value at £9.99 but not when it's cold :(

This used to be great value for money, but the quality has gotten worse over time. When it was £12 each years ago, it was great value for money. Everything now from the starters to desserts are poor quality. All cheap fillers, food not that hot and pretty greasy. I'd rather spend a few pounds more and get a good takeaway.

Nice clean restaurant, disappointing food selection missing tofu or any fish dishes (although this might be the lunchtime menu). What they do have is nice and I would visit again.

The food and service was nice. It's not a place that I would go out of my way to eat at, but given the price it's an option that will get me full.

Came here at 3pm and was refused entry due to them closing at 3:30? After going back and forth for a few minutes trying to understand eachother the lady gave in and asked us to look at the food before we sat down. We were happy to sit and eat, however when we had done so we had all of the staff staring at us and conversing in another language. We then had two tap waters slammed down at our table ( I’m assuming because the lady on the front desk was annoyed ) and were approached multiple times asking if we were going to for another plate, if we were going to have dessert, and then if we were going to have ice cream. They then turned half the lights off, and we were told the doors will be closed on us as soon as it hit 3:30. I don’t understand why they would have times on their website and door till 3:30 if they hold up a fight half an hour before to try to turn you away. Made us feel very uncomfortable. Worst part we were going for quick food before a memorial.

For the price, you get what you pay for, but the quality of the food, I am not very sure of. They definitely have the potential to be better, which I believe they should put some thought into. You don't even need to have a reservation on a Saturday, which speaks volumes.

this place was absolutely disgusting the food tasted like someones child made it and i felt like i would throw up. what made it worse is that i went to the toilet and the bathrrom looked like it had been throigh a tornado and i hate everyone.

Very good, very nice. Cobra beer is a good shout. Food is excellent. I am disappointed Rich did not get to 4 plates of food. Clearly 5 plates is the optimal amount. I was disappointed with the graffiti in the toilet, it called me out on what I am.

Worst buffet in a long time. Dried up rice , little taste in the foods , not much choice , only 2 desserts. Weekday lunchtime , cheaper , waste of money . Not coming back. Scores On The Doors Official Food Hygiene Regulations - this joint scores only 3 out of 5. Good places score 4 or 5 out of 5.

This is the most disgusting place I've eaten in 30 years. Beyond awful. It's dated, the inedible so called food is the nastiest, cheapest and worst cooked ever. This is not Chinese food nor should they be allowed to call this a restaurant. But because the standards of hygiene and food quality is so awful in the UK that's why these sort of hell holes still exist.

Undercooked food do not eat here, me and my partner sat down to eat our food and it was cold and unediable! We got here just after it opened at 5.30 so the food should of been hot and freshly made ..As we went to complain someone else was complaining already because they had a piece of chicken in their hand that was not cooked and still pink in the middle, so if you enjoy cold undercooked food sure go here but if you don't want food poisoning then deffo would not recommend

Visited Saturday lunchtime @ 12:40. The food quality was acceptable i.e. every dish was hot and palatable. A nice selection of dim sum; the pork dumplings and cha siu bau were delicious. As a lover of pork, I was disappointed with the roast pork offering. It was dry and tough. However there were some redeeming main dishes, the braised beef was succulent and tender; it melted in the mouth. I did see staff attending and stirring the on dishes but I was not there long enough to determine at what point a dish should be removed and refreshed. The staff were polite and helpful. Overall a positive experience.

Nice place and very accessible. Fantastic and tasty array of traditionally prepared Chinese food. I prefer going there after 5:30 p.m. when the environment is becoming night-like, more people are coming in, and more dishes are being served. You get more for your money!!

Amazing variety of food and great price!

The worst experience I have ever had. The lady was so rude and patronising. She suggested I look around before deciding to eat there but I had dined there in the past and said it’s fine I want to pay to eat at the buffet. She said maybe I should come back another day. Why would I come back another day if I’m there now and want to eat there at that moment? I asked for a manager and she gave me the number to the restaurant. So every time I called and asked for a manager she hung up on me. DISGUSTING SERVICE AND NOT HOW I EXPECT TO BE TREATED AS A PAYING CUSTOMER.

Was the food decent quality? No. Was it value for money? Not even close. Service? Nope. Atmosphere? Give me a break. Life is too short for this.

One of the waitresses was coughing whilst walking around the food without covering her mouth and that immediately put my boyfriend and I off. The food we did try was bland and unfortunately quite dry, I think it had been sat out a while. I didn’t see much food turnover. I also noticed there didn’t seem to be much attention towards allergens such as peanuts as they had everything next to eachother - just something to keep in mind! The most exciting part was the chocolate fondue but we were just thinking about how long the chocolate had been churning and how many kids had put their fingers in it :(

There have different prices for different times. However for 10 pounds, during weekdays you can have a very good lunch and add 2 pounds for a drink. I enjoy having my lunch here.

The food it’s really nice ! I’ve been trying lot of different Chinese buffet, this the one that I will come back several times. The salt and pepper prawn and the duck it’s amazing! Price really worth it! If u go to the other restaurant £15.99 you only get one plate of meal. But here u can eat as much as u can ! The staff are very nice and friendly!

The meat had so much sauce on it which in of itself was really good but the meat itself was bone dry. It tasted like I had a mouth full of sand :( . The spring rolls were really good on the other hand as were the prawns however that does not outweigh the negative aspects especially the fact that lots of the food tasted fairly artificial. For £10 or £11 this would be fine but not for £16 (especially as a drink other than still water is not included). If you are willing to spend £16 you’re better off going to a normal non buffet style restaurant where you can get a full meal and a drink which tastes decent. The staff were nice no complaints about them :).

Great place. Great post work out food. The perfect place to take my "kung fu team" as an instructor!

The staff hardly speak and when they do it’s limited English the cleanliness is much to be desired the food wasn’t piping hot upon opening it was luke warm and the offer of ice is a struggle unless you asked for it . The price structure for kids needs to be rethought because if you have a tall kid you have to pay adult prices which is a bit of an annoyance. Would I recommend it more than likely not and the chocolate fountain was cold .

Good food friendly staff reasonable prices

No longer a fan of this restaurant. Food has gone downhill over the years even on a Saturday night when we went. Noodles looked bad. Chinese but can't make noodles look appetising ! Seem to wait ages for food trays to be refreshed. I usually eat Shumai but even after finishing other food, the Shumai had still not been re-filled. Not even worth the £17 per person. The only staff who smiles is the young woman at the till. It may be a couple of years before trying this place again unless new management come in.

Call it a Chinese restaurant is a humiliation of Chinese food.

Buffets was so good and lovely foods, drinks as well. Pudding was very nice delicious. Love it. I will go there again one day. Thank you. 👌🏿👍🏾😉☺😊😁

To my surprise it was really good , meat is all tender , nothing was bland , a lot of good options my favourite was the braised beef a very good dinner spot

If that's possible I would like to give a 6-star! The food is really good and flavorful!! Satay chicken and sweet and sour chicken is my fav! The price is worth it. It is worth mentioning that I admire the professionalism of the STAFF when they are in trouble!! The reason 6star is because of this!

i have just finished my meal and it was wonderful. i have been here a couple times before but i forget how good it is but i love the idea of being able to just get up when i want and get what i like. the staff are very nice too. thanks my little sweeties

If there was less than 1 star this place would get it. Absolutely disgusting they should be ashamed how this place gets a food hygiene rating is beyond me. Save yourself the disappointment do not go to this appalling place needs shutting down ASAP.

Really horrible customer service. The person who is on the till doesn’t have the basic customer service knowledge. Worst part of the service is when they communicate in their own luggage and not responding to us.

Compared to chinese buffets in Leicester youll come out not smelling like stir fried in this place. Its spacious. We went there on a busy friday holiday. Service crew are kind and amazing. Dimsum station reminds me of the hongkong street foods. I can vouch its flavor is authentic. Specially the char siu bao and siu mai. You just need the right sauce. Soy sauce and chilli! The fried stations varies a lot! From chicken, shrimps, pork ribs, crackers etc (everyone here saying its oily no flavors, guys!! Theres a sauce station) plenty of sauce to choose to remove that satiety. Maybe their fried station needs to be fried on the spot. Some fried items will be more delicious if its fresh from the fryer. Chinese foods are mostly fried so dont come here if you’re not a fan. And lastly guys, the sauce.. dont eat the frieds alone.

Been here on and off for the pass four/five years as I like the food, especially on a weekend when the menu is more upmarket. Sadly the food on my last two visits have at best been Luke warm to cold , and could we please have a different soup other than sweetcorn which you have served up consistently everytime I dine here without exception over the years A suggestion of say crab for a Sunday would make a welcome change. Otherwise good value for money.

I dont think anyone should bother going to this restaurant. Very poor customer service. I have never seen a buffet with time limit. These Chinese restaurant literally rushed us out of the place after an hour when we booked for my sister's birthday. It just didn't make sense to any of us. Some of the friends and family couldn't rush their food but they made them pay for just entering just to show their face to the celebrant. We left very unhappy with questions in our heart. Why should people be kicked out of a Chinese buffet after an hour when we're celebrating someone's birthday. Ofcourse people will arrive at different times and of course some might be a bit late than usual but we should be able to enjoy the place and leave in our own time. My advice is no one should go there for anything their food is rubbish too.

I sadly feel compelled to write about my experience last night at Kung Fu Chinese Buffet which sadly was not good at all. From the miserable looking staff both at entry point and inside the restaurant, to the mildly warm food that was certainly not choice cuts of meat. One of the beef main dishes had as much fat as it did meat and the chicken was strangely un-fibrous and very chewy, in fact so much so, neither my wife or myself ate hardly any meat. We were very disappointed at the lack of quality in the food and the overall dullness of the establishment. the best thing about our visit was the bottle of wine which we finished quickly and left to go have dinner somewhere else where descent food was served. I write with my honest opinion, sad as it seems, it is the truth of my experience and one that I wished to share so that others may have consideration to not have the same. Spend your hard earned money somewhere better.....

A bit underwhelming. Limited options. Some dishes might be actually good and some might be tasteless, feels like eating cardboard. The current ~3.5 star rating is fair I think for what it is. Staff seems genuinely nice.

The food is nothing special. Went on a Friday evening. The service wasn't anything special. They don't top up the deserts after 8pm too. Found a hair on the satay chicken too. Obviously the chef doesn't wear a hair net when cooking. I wouldn't come here for a date, it's got no atmosphere. Even with the view our the window overlooking the rotunda. The chicken curry had no sauce, it had dried out. Definitely hanging for over 2 hours which could be a food safety concern. The best dish in here is the slow braised beef flanks. I literally don't like to eat anything else when visiting here. The tap in the bathroom runs really slowly too. They should address this

Honestly the worst all you can eat Chinese I have ever been to, the food was so watery and bland. The meat was rubbery and all I could taste in every dish was so just fish fish fish. I didn’t even know chow mien could be watery but there you go and the duck was the worst think I have ever eaten, I would not recommend going especially on a Sunday was a waste of money and it’s not like it’s at all cheap either £8 for children under 150cm I don’t even think the kids under 3 ate £8 worth !!!! This place needs to be shut down was such a same because before it used to be decent - Also if your not going to have the grill working you shouldn’t be charging £16.99 just wow for that price I would rather take the trip to Croydon their eat as much as you like is amazing and they serve dishes from all over the world!

Great prices for an unlimited buffet! You pay per drink and the atmosphere is a bit quiet, but the food is very tasty and decently varied.

The food was a greasy, unappetizing mess, with no freshness to speak of. It was heavy and loaded with an overwhelming, unpleasant smell. Even the service was unimpressive, with servers who seemed uninterested and inattentive. All in all, it was a seriously disappointing dining experience that I won't be repeating.” 🚫👩‍🍳 the restaurant's lackluster service added to the already subpar experience, with no attempt made to rectify the situation or offer any sort of compensation or apology. Sounds like the only thing the restaurant served up was disappointment.

不是正统的中餐，是改良过的迎合西方口味的中餐，有点像美食中餐。所有口味都非常非常甜，没有葱姜蒜辣椒的味道，没有一道菜是辣的。对于中国人来说，有点太甜了，刚吃几口还好，吃多了就腻了

For me, it was just ok, maybe because they wanted to close, not everything was available. The fish and prawns were nice and the staff too. For a buffet, I expected more, not bad though. Guess I'll try another time of the day.

Honestly disgusting i went there on the 3rd october 2023 for dinner with my fiancé and the chicken was raw, the beef was too chewy and i had to spit it out into a napkin. The restaurant was hot and humid a window or aircon needs to be added. The prawn crackers smelt like sick and was all in all vile. I went to wash my hands in the bathroom and i felt like i was going to fall through the stairs and im 10lbs, the bathrooms were disgusting piss all over the seats tissue all on the floor, no soap and sinks didnt work so ended up using the toilet in pizza express. I wouldn't recommend at all not worth the money felt robbed, staff were rude and judgmental. Im not usually one to complain but I would never return

Great as always as a self serving buffet spot, alot of the food actually taste great and are something I'd feel like eating from time to time. Very good value and is a conscientious business , for £15.99 (£14.99 Mon to Thur), elsewhere you might get one plate of fried rice or noodles sit in for this price, here you can get however many plates you want. Dishes that I recommend after having been here for probably 10 times over the past year - stir fried prawns, fried chicken wings, mussels in soy sauce, pork siu mais, various different really tender stir fried chicken pieces, braised beef brisket, ribs cooked in gravy

Very good place and very good food

Been here multiple times, lovely food and atmosphere, the only problem I’d say is it’s boiling in the place and they need to open a window or put an air con in there!
