Kudos in Brighton and Hove

Firstly we did not get off to a good start although I am not going to let that influence my judgement on the food. My partner phone ordered food for three of us that the woman on the phone said was £41. We collected ourselves and my partner parked down the road and I walked to the shop with £41 and left my handbag in the car. I go in, our food is ready and hand over the £41 we have been told it is, the owners son? Then tells me that it’s £41.30p and instead of letting me off the 30p and handing our food over makes me walk all the way back to the car to get the 30p whilst our food is getting cold! Unbelievable. If you are going to let your kids do front of house then at least give them some training in how to treat customers. The annoying thing is that I would have brought £41.30 if the woman on the phone had said it was this amount! All three of us were just flabbergasted that they wouldn’t let a customer ordering £40 worth of food off a paltry 30 pence. We had the fish starter box which was the worst thing we had, everything was quiet dry and over cooked and the spring roll had too much pastry and not enough filling which was a shame as the filling was good. I had a prawn dish as a main, a nice amount of big good quality prawns, but instead of a nice mix of vegetables with them, it was mostly onion with just a small amount of carrot and spring onions. The meat dishes were better with a generous portion of duck in the duck dish. Prices are very reasonable for the size and amount of protein in them, but on the whole not a patch on Tongs who were originally here unfortunately. We wouldn’t rush back here, customer service left a lot to be desired and the food was mediocre.

My number one goto takeaway. Excellent service and menu. Won't order Chinese or Thai from any other restaurant.

Our first takeaway from Kudos, absolutely amazing, someone at work recommend. I can now, concur, best Chinese & Thai takeaway in Brighton if not the whole if Sussex

The food here is simply fantastic. It is everything you want in a Chinese. If you are counting calories then this isn't the place for you. The food is flavoursome and very good value, especially with a discount if you order on the phone and extras depending on how much you spend. The customer service is second to none and they will always make little tweaks to the food if you ask. I have never had a bad meal from here.

Was looking for somewhere that did Thai and Chinese food and this place seemed and appeared to have good reviews. However, the Chinese food was mediocre at best and the Thai food was frankly awful. I ordered a Thai Green Curry and it came in this thick goop with mushrooms, peas and carrots: I wouldn't even try it. Daughter ordered Lemon chicken which was very soggy in consistency. In future we'll stick to Happy Inn on Eldred and order Thai separately from Siam Siam.

Recently I called in an order to Kudos and one item was left off the order. I am not sure who made the mistake, myself or the restaurant. I called them back after getting the order home, and asked if they could deliver. 5 minutes later Mum turned up on the doorstep with the dish. It was a freezing cold night and they were right on peak time. Great service!

I have used this takeaway for several years and always found them to be excellent. There is plenty to eat and am often finishing it off the following day. It’s a lovely treat when my family come to visit and we all enjoy the food greatly.

We ordered special fried rice which was greasy tasteless and tasted of oil . We also had crispy chicken which was soggy and swimming in oil again . The special chow mien was again oily and tasteless with no flavour . First and last . Don’t waste your money plenty of other good takeaways in Brighton and Hove .

I ordered the mixed seafood starter, Singapore noodle, and extra sweet and sour sauce. The Good: Singapore noodles were fine The Bad: the starters were barely edible. The seaweed was full of sugar making it so sweet and gritty it was inedible. The butterflies king prawns were thin, dry and tasteless. Prawn toast tasted of old oil/fat. I could eat any of it. The sweet and sour sauce was sickly, with little flavour. Very disappointing. Avoid.

I really like this takeaway place; my boyfriend and I have ordered from them a few times, and they are really good value for money. Big portion sizes, flavourful and good vegan options. They’re very accommodating of other dietary requirements too. We usually spend about £20 and get loads between the two of us (big meal for the evening + leftovers.) think you get a discount for ordering on the phone too. The only minor criticism I have is the card machine they use only accepts cards that are registered to the delivery address (bit inconvenient if you’re from out of town and staying with a friend, etc.) but that’s a really minor thing and not their fault. Overall a great place!

Absolutely rubbish, instant oxo curry and frozen veg. Nothing oriental about this place, ketchup n oxo??

We’ve only ordered about three times, but each time we loved it. Big portions and cheap prices compared to other takeaways in the city.

Tried it 2 times now and love the food so far , staff on fkne very helpful, delivery driver come with smile, food was on point and still hot even though I live other side of Brighton, defo recommended to try out

This is the only Chinese we visit and here is why. 1- such a friendly reception when we order our food, and from whoever delivers our meal (which is sometimes the eldest daughter of the family - such a polite and well mannered young person). 2 - the food is consistently great - as of yet we have never received a bad meal (which is saying something!) we have just ordered probably our one hundredth meal tonight and I’m sure it’ll be smashing as always. 3- great choice always something for everyone. Thanks Kudos, keep smashing it!

We ordered delivery and it was delicious. One of the best Chinese I've had. Great quality, came piping hot and full of flavours. They also confirm phone numbers just in case driver will get lost. Deffo will order again :)

I stumbled upon this place by sheer chance. It is currently my favourite Chinese takeaway in Brighton & Hove. I've ordered from a multitude of other places before but this one is currently standing out from the rest. I haven't had a disappointing dish yet and am gradually trying out different dishes from the menu. The 10% discount is also a bonus plus the free soft drinks! Would happily recommend to anyone looking for a good Chinese takeaway. Very tasty and delicious!

Really enjoyed our recent takeaway. Good value for money with larger, tasty portions. Really enjoyed - crispy beef, salt and spicy chicken wings and prawns. Bbq ribs - amazing! Crispy aromatic duck - a little on the dry side - but will give it a go again as everything else so good it might of just been a bad - one off duck - would recommend!

This is my favourite chinese in brighton, gutted dont live here anymore miss it so much, the crispy smoked chicken is amazing cant find it anywhere up north! The roast pork chow mein is lovely as well, Cant wait to come back to visit family and friends will def be visiting this little gem

Ordered on line for delivery to holiday apartment. Received a call to confirm details as I'd forgotten to add apartment number. Food arrived earlier than advised and was piping hot. Great flavours and great taste. Would highly recommend.

Food delivered on time 2 out of the 6 dishes (tom yum soup, Japanese Dom prawn) were pretty rough. Way too much sugar and salt and inedible. Asked for a refund on the dishes, was offered a credit but no refund. Won't be ordering from here again. Loads more better places to eat!

We have been using kudos for a few years now. Always lovely hot food being delivered, lovely friendly staff that work there. Always constantly great food :-)

We moved to this area few months ago and every time that we tried they now exactly how to treat us! I am gluten free and I haven't got any problems there.. too considered and tasty too!!! I would recommended for sure

Much kudos deserved for this takeaway. Great menu choice. Freshly prepared good quality dishes, very good value for money. The meal was ready 20 minutes after ordering.

The food from this place made me very sick !! not fit for human consumption. Did not taste as the food should have me and my two children were sick after their food.

Disgusting food, i only eat half of my food as it made me sick, i had to throw away the spare ribs as the meat was soggy and the sauce (capital) was disgusting, i bought them for my son as he loves them normally (from other takeaways) but he could eat them saying then weren't nice so i tried one and spat it straight out and put them in the bin, my son felt sick as well after eating his rice. I feel that my money went down the drain with this place..i will NEVER use this chinese again OR recommend it!!!

Simply the worst Thai food I have ever experienced. We decided to order takeaway from the overlong menu, perhaps this should have been a warning? We ordered a sharing starter platter of various items, which were edible but obviously all pre packed and heated up. The main courses were ordered in order to compare and contrast, we got a green watery incredibly sweet broth that was quite revolting, the other (supposedly Malaysian) was a redish concoction containing exactly the same ingredients (no sign of lemon grass or galangal in either) and indistinguishable from the green. They were inedible and certainly not like any of the many Thai meals we have ever eaten. They were annoyingly thrown away, could not be returned as we'd already started on the wine. The worst takeaway I have ever come across, which is a shame because the people at the takeaway were really nice and helpful.

I ordered spring roll, and Hong Kong style Sweet and Sour Pork with boiled rice. The spring rolls I received were delicious exactly as I remembered them from previous visits. Unfortunately the main course did not live up to my expectations, the boiled rice was stuck together in clumps. The pork balls in batter were miniscule with no discernible meat in them, served in a congealed mass in the sweet and sour sauce. The sauce had large pieces of onion, bell pepper and pineapple which did not seem to have been cooked at all.

Kudos is a small take away just off the main road.It serves excellent food, with very large portions and very reasonable prices. Service is swift
