Kowloon Chinese Chippy in Wirral

Prices are absolutely disgusting, we had an old menu from a few years ago and totally expected a bit of an increase but how they can justify these prices! A meal with fried rice has gone from £6.70 to £12.50!!! The food tastes alright but think it’s disgusting they can put their prices up that much. We paid over £30 for 1 main meal with rice, 2 starters and chips. Won’t be going again. Much better Chinese 5 mins walk away with prices nearly half!

I used to go the Kowloon as my go to takeaway. Food quality is very good and the staff are friendly but with the recent price changes it's extortionate. They have put prices up 60%. Sorry but if am going to pay those prices I will go to a Chinese restaurant instead and not worry about having to clean any dishes. Will use a different takeaway from now on.

Due to my work, I have worked in nearly every UK City over the past 12yrs. This is my 2nd visit to Kowloon (the first being when the Golf Open was in-town 3weeks ago). I thought the prices were extortionate then, but guessed they'd raised the prices for the Golf Open. Just returned today and bought a small portion of chips and a carton of curry sauce. £3.50 for a small portion of chips, and £2.90 for a carton of curry sauce!?!?!? How do they get away with charging such extortionate prices?

So expensive .its cheaper to eat in restaurant. The golf is not in the area anymore . Sorry food poor ..

About three weeks ago, the Fish Dinner was £8, this week it is £12 and the fish does not taste the same, flavourless in fact, what happened this used to be a good place, sadly I will not be going anymore.

No flavour whatsoever only dirty old fat , never again will I go there , stay away, it was a Tuesday night and spent the rest of the week on the toilet

Minus 100 if it was a rating!! Disgusting!! I found 3 long black hairs in the chicken fried rice and was sick. Went back demanding a refund then they asked me to bring rhe bag of food and sick back and they still wouldn't refund me and arrogant and dismissive and I was fuming. Such terrible human beings scum of the earth!! Avoid this chippy like the plague!!

Tried for the first time yesterday as our usual place was closed, very impressed with quality v price ratio, nice big portions so lots left for today, only criticism was that the 4 mains were had were all a little on the sweet side

I purchased a take away meal of duck with orange here the other night and it was delicious. The service was very good and the staff very friendly

This review should be 5 stars because the food was excellent, However although the order was placed in advance we had to wait an additional 45 minutes past the collection time. Then when we opened the order at home there were 2 meals missing. When I called to report this I was dismissed, Apparently they don’t make mistakes. This was the first that we have used Kowloon and the order was £70.00. 5* for food quality. 0* for customer service.

Quick service. Staff are friendly and chippy is clean. Menu is very varied and food is delicious. Can place your order over the phone. Sometimes hard to park outside.

my experience at the kowloon was great the people are very friendly and kind and the food is amazing they have a big menu woth many options for everyone.

Couldn't face the Holiday Inn room service, so walked round the corner and took a punt on a takeaway. Turned out pretty good actually - ordered Salt & Pepper ribs that were wonderful and a large portion of Singapore Fried Rice which only lacked a few veg, otherwise it would have been perfect.A bottle of Diet coke and a spoon borrowed from the breakfast bar in the hotel and Bob's your Uncle!

Visited Hoylake with a view to moving back here - fabulous crispy chilli chicken +chips served hot delicious and friendly professional staff.

I don't eat a lot of takeaway food, but now and again - when I'm not in the mood to cook! - Kowloon's fish and chips is a nice, tasty treat. And the wide selection of Chinese dishes (always nicely cooked) is sometimes too tempting to resist.

I am never disappointed by the quality of Kowloon. Favourites include crispy beef with chilli, salt and pepper ribs and Singapore noodles vermicelli. The service is quick, the food is fresh and plentiful and tasty. What more could anyone ask for?

Hemos estado todo el Wirral tratando de encontrar comida para llevar china realmente bueno. Llegamos al otro lado de Kowloon después de tomar nuestro perrito a clases de capacitación en Hoylake. La comida es increíble y como mi compañero es gluten hay bastante comida para llevar algunos que no hacer comida sin gluten. No fue problema de Kowloon y ambos tuvimos el más sabroso Singapur arroz frito que he probado nunca. Yo no creo que el precio de la comida era cara como he leído en otros comentarios, pero lo único que a £1. 50 por un cartón pequeña de curry, que es un poco mucho! Volveremos como los ingredientes en el arroz frito de Singapur fue de primera clase.

We use this Chippy quite often and whatever we choose from the comprehensive menu is always well cooked and enjoyable. I would say far better than the competition in either Hoylake if West Kirby.

Delicious noodles, chips and curry sauce. Served hot and quickly by friendly efficient staff. Just the thing after a couple of pints x

Food was absolutely lovely and piping hot however is extremely expensive for a meal and you don't get an extremely huge portion like you would expect for the price and the wait is quite a while even when you pre order

Waiting for our food I decided to look at the free paper the Wirral globe . To my surprise my daughter and her friend was in it ,a photo of an event they entered . I was thrilled . I very kindly asked the Chinese man may I have it and he refused which upset me . I asked again so he wouldn't give me it . I explained I will get him another paper for his customers and swap so I could take the feared paper and show my family in the car , he still would not let me !!! A very unkind act ! I won't be taking my custom there ever again !

What a great takeaway this place is .The roast duck in green peppers and black bean sauce always the winner for me .

I visit this chippy once a week on the way home from work and have done for about 5 months now - that should highlight what I think of The Kowloon.Food is always ready on time, if you ring it through first.The Sweet & Sour & Fried Rice is exquisite and the sauce is very nice and tangy.The takeaway itself is clean and never had a problem with any food - compounded by a 5/5 Very Good Food Safety Rating from the local authority.

I've tried many chinese take aways on the wirral and so glad Ive found KOWLOON.The food is restraunt quality, the premises is spotless and clean.Very polite staff and meals are good portions and value for money. Does get rather busy at weekends so best phoning and ordering first.

I have just been out to Kowloon for my Salt and Pepper rib fix! Disappointingly they have increased the price by 50p, not a lot you may think but this is on top of a rise of £1.00 not so long ago so they have gone up from £4.50 to £6.00 in under 12 months. They are still really nice but the portion size is decreasing. Supply and demand? Maybe but still a little disappointing. Hopefully my next review will not drop them to "Average".

Top chippy. I've tried several meals from here and I haven't had a bad one. Favourite dish is the Special Garlic & Chilli sauce

Telephoned my order half an hour before I arrived but when I got thier they hadn't even started cooking it. The prices have gone up and the quality has gone down, this used to be the best chippy for miles NOT ANYMORE.

This review is only in respect of the Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs, for those of you who, like me, love these yummy ribs!Of all the S&P ribs I have ever had, including those locally, nationally and abroad and both from takeaways and from restaurants, these are the best! I personally cant abide the ribs which are cooked in a thin batter and tend to be tastless and chewy. These are big, meaty, tender, tasty and just fantastic. I always ask for an extra chilli in mine as I like them particularly spicy. I travel about 8 miles to get these so I call ahead to order and they are always ready when I arrive.If anyone has found any better I would be interested to hear so I can try them :)

I use this chippy pretty much every week - when i pop to see my mum.The food is always excellent, and they guys behind the counter are very polite friendly and courteous.

I moved to hoylake just over a year ago and have used this take-away quite a few times, it is, for me, the best quality Chinese take-away food around this area, have never been disappointed!

Regularly used this chippy with some problems before. Requested a specific meal to discover when I got home it was incorrect. Rang up and was told I could either return and swap the product or not return to the chippy again.........seems it will be the last. Such a shame as had used this chippy for a while.

It's our local takeaway, how lucky we are to be able to claim that!The Chinese meals are great, English meals are top notch too.Staff are always friendly and pleased to see you. And the value for money is great.And if you order by phone, their estimated collection times are usually right to within 5 minutes or so

Great food, great value and extremely courteous staff. Love this place. Food cooked straight away - no warm up chips, and believe me, they are gorgeous! Both Chinese and English meals are always spot on. They even do ure fish extra crispy batter if u ask nice

This is a perfectly decent chippy. But let's just remember that's all it is, a chippy - it shouldn't be in the same category as the other restaurants.

We stayed in hoy lake for 2 days and wished this Chinese was near us. Food was so good and cheap the first night we had it again the next night too.We are quite picky on Chinese take always but this one utterly shocked us it was so cheap we thought it would be horrible. It was lovely and well cooked

This is one of the nicest Chinese takeaways I've ever had! When you ring up to order the time they give you is really short, no matter how big your order is. I've never had to wait more than half an hour after calling. The staff are always very friendly and greet you with a smile. The portions are big and definitely worth the money.

Kowloon is a local treasure, yes its chippy but the quality of the food is excellent, the prices are so cheap and the customer service is very good.

Wish I'd tried Kowloon sooner! Having lived in Hoylake 15 years I somehow seemed to have missed it! The food is delicious - I don't think I will be going anywhere else now! Great value, freshly cooked, hot and tasty.

This is a good chip shop. The portions are 'huge'. One could feed a family of five on the chip portions. The staff are pleasant and the food both English and Chinese is good.

Been her numerous times, good chippy food and a very good Chinese menu- a great range of meals available at extremely good prices. You get a lot for your money here which is always a bonus. Every time we go its always busy with walk In Customers and phone orders- always a good sign!
