Spent 11.70 on Haddock and chips was not impressed I live two minutes walk from this chippy and when I got home it was.only lluke warm fish was tasteless and the chips were the same won't go their again

Food was cooked and presented well. We had Fish and Chips, curry sauce and a mushy peas. Both were served with a good slice of 🍋 and tub of Tartar sauce.

Does decent food, and you can tell they use clean oil. But portion sizes do feel smaller than they used to be.

Yesterday popped into Knowle Fish Bar for a takeaway lunch of the most delicious fish and chips we have ever eaten. Tried both the haddock and cod. The batter is to die for. A complementary tub of tartare sauce and a wedge of lemon was very much appreciated. You now have a family of new customers.

Just had the best fresh fish & chips ever !!! As Americans, we don't get many authentic fish & chips often, and we have finally found a place where we can get delicious, lightly breaded & fried !!!!!! Thank you so much for the exceptional service and amazing food!

Turned up after a longs days work, wager to settle down for and relax. Bought myself a take away fish and chips, for the price it would have cost in a restaurant I might add. When I got home, a mere 5 minute drive, I discovered that I'd been given a puny serving of chips that had been left over from lunch time *over three hours before*. When I tell you it was like eating cardboard I'd have rather had cardboard. Please don't do that in the future, it was rank.

We live in Catherine de Barnes and have never visited this Fish Bar until today. What can I say absolutely gorgeous and so fresh. We have mini gosh and chips (which also comes with a slice of lemon and tartar sauce) and a battered sausage, chips and curry sauce. This by far exceeded our expectations. The shop and staff are also spotless! Ans very polite. Thank you will won’t be going anywhere else in future

Unfortunately this place did not live up to expectations. I had ordered food online to collect. As I went in, there were 3 people working, a couple of people waiting for food and no queue. However, it took a good 10 minutes before someone even acknowledged my presence: everyone seemed to be floating about in their own world. After advising them that I had ordered food for collection, they grabbed a bag off the side that had been sat there the whole time! Needless to say, the food was ultimately cold, and everything inside the boxes was soggy (condensation or too much oil). Nothing had salt and vinegar on as per the request either. How on earth this place actually functions is beyond me? 3 staff and yet nobody seemed bothered to even look up or acknowledge me! All it would have taken is "I'll be with you in 10 mins" or something to that effect. Go to Dorridge instead: much better service, quicker, and better food.

I just wanted to say how lovely my small cod, chips & curry sauce were today. I only visit of a lunchtime but the cod was white, really tasty & of a good thickness. The curry sauce & tartar sauce are always good IMO. The chips (which I normally am not a fan of) were really gorgeous. So today I ate it all. Well done Knowle Fish Bar. I loved that.

Normally excellent quality and choice. However, a recent visit, just after evening opening, I was served with 2 bits of very dry fish, maybe from lunchtime, but the rest of the order, not fish, was as usual excellent. A shame to a good chip shop

First time trying tonight and food was lovely and fresh Knocked 1 star off because we ordered online and only live 2 mins away and food was cold plus it was the smallest portion of chips ever, for the same price as dorridge fish bar you get so many more Usually at any chip shop the regular chips is more than enough for the 2 of us but these were in the tinest box and such a small portion ☹️ so we were still hungry

Food is always good, last time we went in chippy to order it took ages. I know they were busy but I waited 40 mins approx for 2x fish & chips and a halloumi pita &chips. From what I understand the online orders took priority and the halloumi kept on being used to fulfill those orders. I was thanked for my patience but next time I will order online 🙈

Fresh cod or haddock, freshly cooked in a light batter. Crisp chips. Served with homemade tartare sauce and a slice of lemon. A great take-away, deserving of regular visits.

After arriving back from holiday and feeling very hungry I went in here for haddock and chips.The fish was cooked fresh but was very overcooked and fish dry and batter hard. The chips must have been lying there drying up for ages. I threw it in the bin, what a waste of money

Not been here since it changed ownership recently. Couldn't fault it. The chicken fillet burger was lovely and everything was priced very reasonably.

Fish and Chip Size wouldn’t feed a toddler!! Shocking price now for a drastically reduced sized portion in horrid plastic pots and an awful runny tartar sauce type thing taking a huge proportion of the container up. What’s happened? Is it under new management? You will lose us regulars if you don’t improve.

Great food and the staff are all lovely. They even saved me a pie when I called them to see if they had one.

Very clean, very welcoming, very quick service. The prices and portion sizes are excellent, and the food is always good. The chicken meat kebab is very tasty. This place definitely deserves a much higher star rating because most of the low ratings are ancient (and possibly vexatious)

We really recommend this fish and chip bar. Never too long a wait in the queue. Fish batter is divine! Great choice of products, they even sell a local butcher's pies - Eric Lyons. Great portions, good array of drinks too. Highly recommended. Can order online too!

Knowle Fish Bar first opened its doors in 1982, and is now owned by a family with long-established links to the take-away trade. The chips are dry and crispy, the fish cooked fresh in a light batter, served with homemade tartare sauce. Service is always very friendly, and waiting time minimal. Highly recommended.

Have tried to stay loyal but the portion sizes have been drastically reduced after the initial re- opening! A portion of chips is quite frankly a rip-off now and the cod is the size of a fish finger! Captive market I suppose but given the time and choice we will be going back to Nelson’s!! Get rid of all the fancy boxes and put a decent portion in old style paper and look after your customers !! 🙏🏼🤷🏼

changing my review. went in for the minted lamb pie and chips and they've stopped doing them. ordered spring roll and chips. chips were scrag ends, the spring roll was burnt and like cardboard, only ate half of it. dont know if they've changed hands but not the usual standard it used to be. very disappointed.

Had a delivery order Monday evening it was an order we had a few times before and this time we were very disappointed the small fish and chips had got so much smaller and was only just warm and the spring rolls were hot and over cooked and at £26.50 we won't be ordering again it was supposed to be a treat at that price and normally something we enjoy but not this time

We've used Knowle Fish Bar many times. We loved the real meat kebabs, excellent in a naan. But last week we went in to find they are no more - apparently due to staffing issues. We aren't fish eaters in the main so, alas, this looks like the last time we'll be visiting. A real shame as the staff are great. Please bring the kebabs back - 5 stars if you do!!

Food was brilliant but need to sell saveloys

This chippy has gone down hill in recent years, prices are extortionate for the quality of fish. The chips are dreadful but they’ve never been good here. Without drastic change (not a few fancy signs and price hikes) this chippy won’t be around much longer. Knowle deserves better.

Did a phone order and walked up to the shop to collect, so disappointed when the order was wrong. Called the shop and casually said sorry would you like to come back, it wasn’t a short walk so decided not to and it’s not the first time the order has been wrong ( once home and checked) so disappointed. You know, you have got home and ready to eat 😔 some times it’s not ok to say come back. It’s time to take your time and correct repetitive mistakes. Ie take the learning. Really sorry to post this but it is what it is.and Fish and Chips ain’t cheap these days. 🤨 read the order back to the customer.

Had 2 bad burnt dried out kebabs and 1 bad small soggy fish and chips there now. Last time I complained and showed photos and got no offer of refund or compensation towards another meal so will no longer be visiting. Prices are high and quality is very poor.

It’s just really naff now. Fancy boxes and packaging inflating the already heavy prices, I waited so long in the queue I think I managed to grow a beard, and they never seem to have exactly what you want when you finally fight your way to the counter. Got just under £40 of food and I felt robbed as it’s nowhere close to worth it. It’s honestly a shame, it used to be decent and every town and village should have a decent chippy. Sorry, but never again.

We used the Knowle Fish Bar when the new owners took over and to be honest wasn’t that impressed. We decided to give it another go and this time around the Fish and Chips with curry sauce and peas has to be one of the best we have had. Incredibly tasty and fresh out of the fryer. Excellent meal and will definitely return.

Absolutely awful if you thought the last owner was rubbish this one is worse overpriced overcooked . Please can we have a traditional chip shop in Knowle reasonably priced well cooked food not the gastro type rubbish that this lot severs up rubbish

Had pie and chips from here the best pie and chips iv had the pies are from lyons butchers wound the corner and the quality and the chips is on point. I also spotted the baklava on the way out and iv got to say this baklava is amazing. Iv had it recently from other places is it soggy and not great this was crisp and tasty definitely not to be missed.

Amazing chips and pies are exceptional

I have been unwell for a couple of years and I was finding it difficult to find anything I wanted to eat. My partner introduced me to shish kebabs/souvlaki in Greece and I was excited to see them on the menu at a Greek restaurant… it was such a let down. Then someone told me that knowle fish bar do them and 🙌🤩 they are absolutely incredible! Thank you so much knowle fish bar

Would give this place 0 stars if I could I understand rent is abit more in that area but almost 8 quid for a soggy battered sausage and chips that tasted Vile. honestly feel like I paid a few quid just to get it in a fancy cardboard box and even that was soaked through due to the ammount of grease on the food. Awful chippy !

Stood there for 5 mins without asking what I wanted! Also have a minimum £12 card limit.

Decided to give Knowle Fish Bar another chance after receiving a cold delivery. FAILED MISERABLY. We live 3 mins from the shop and yet again delivery was cold & needed reheating & the mushy peas were like cold green liquid. NEVER AGAIN !!!

The person who I spoke to on the phone was extremely rude and cut the phone off multiple times. We ordered from Uber eats and our food hadn’t come so we called the restaurant. He proceeded to tell us in an extremely rude way the driver had called us (which he hadn’t) and the food was outside (which it wasn’t). The service is extremely terrible as he blamed us and didn’t even apologise at all. We spent over 20 pounds so we better get a refund. I wouldn’t recommend buying due to the poor service here and the terrible staff.

Paid a ridiculous £7.50 for lamb donner burger and chips. They forgot my order and after reminding them I got my food 20 minutes later, both were inedible. The bun was soaking wet and the chips greasier than a tin of WD40. Lad serving didn’t have a clue where he was or what he was doing, I’d have received better service from an Indian call centre. Will not be returning.

Quality of food not good, feels like they are rushing orders now just to get food out…ordered large sausage got given 2 small sausages which were over cooked and dry…easier to say no large sausage. Past couple of times food not like before time for a break from here to try others

Visiting Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games and found this gem for dinner. Between us we had a burger, fish, scampi and the new chicken shish kebab. All were excellent. Large portions, hot and tasted great. Friendly staff and very clean.

Bought two boxes of sausage (1 battered) and chips with a pot of curry sauce. Staff were lovely, really helpful, the place was clean and lots of room. The boxes were a nice touch, better for the environment, and feels like I'm back at home by the sea, but the chips were greasy and the sausages were so dry the skin was difficult to cut. That said it was much cheaper than our local chip shop. It wasn't awful, but won't go back.

We had takeaway from three today, 3 mixed kebabs at lunchtime. Absolutely fantastic, very tasty and very fresh salad with a delicious mint and yogurt dressing. Kebabs were packed and full of flavour. Highly recommend.

Stopped in got something quick to eat as traffic was bad from the airport. Loved every mouthful and the battered fish was the best 👌

I was excited about the thought of the management change over, unfortunately I was let down in every way, The fish and chips were cold and the fish once cut into was black inside, it was appalling never have I eaten fish and chips as bad as this.

Overpriced. Ordered a large portion of chips, £4, came in a box, which was nice, but the quantity of chips was less than I would expect for a normal portion, let alone a large portion. Chips were nice though, and eating them out of a box made a pleasant change... Just overpriced. Increase your portion size, or lower your price.

Disappointed since refurbishment and new owners. The food especially the chips do not retain the heat after a very short time - never experienced this anywhere else apart from here. Tried several times to see if things improved but to no avail - not willing to do so again.

Huge disappointment to go with the huge prices. The lemon flavoured!!! fish and chips were dry as was the overpriced pie. What happened to the great chip shop as it used to be?? Maybe they should stick to building renovation rather than food as it seems they have better taste in buildings. Once we were regular customers. Now we are never again visitors. Such a shame.

Been a customer for many years but will not return post refurb. No kebabs at all now. Very expensive at 4.50 a pie! Fish and chips terrible. Greasy batter and small portion of chips. The brown cardboard box food comes in has a really strong smell and put us off food. Dont waste your money.

Have been a customer for over 30 years and im so dissapointed after a a refurb and will not be going again . Do i really want a slice of lemon with my chips i think not and a portion of what i can only describe as cat sick with an even smaller portion of chips than normal the the only + was that the fish was larfer than normal and fresh rather than frozen
