The place is really lovely and the building is quirky so on first impressions, a great start. The food looked amazing and the home made cake selection was off the chart good. What made this experience less than amazing was the service was so cold and impersonal. I was ignored firstly by no less than 4 people, when someone eventually asked if they could help, I said I wanted to order and she pointed to the till down at the end hidden by 2 large guys ordering and told me to order there and off she went. I ordered and no smiles, not pleasantries. I then orders cakes to takeaway and again, nothing. I tried to engage in a smile and chat but nothing. My takeaway sandwich was ready on the pass and ignored until eventually, the girl on the till brought it to me. She passed it to me with no words, no thank you and no smiles. In my experience, when so many people are void of pleasant customer service it tells me this isn’t a fun and happy place to work. Owners - take a look at your working culture and instil some fun into it!

Wow !!! What a lovely place to eat. I had chicken burger with chips and salad and the chips were amazing, the best chips I have ever had, please never change them. An array of cakes and lovely in house made bread. My daughter had a home made sausage roll and said the pastry was lush. My partner had a BLT and he said the bacon was superb. I will be re visiting here very soon 👌🏼

We have been here several times before and usually it's fine and we enjoy the food. However today we walked in and no-one acknowledged us. We found a table and sat down right in front of the kitchen area but despite it not being particularly busy, and being in full view of at least three staff we were ignored and not even given any menus. We waited several minutes and some other people came in, who were immediately greeted and given menus, on the table next to us! That was the final straw so we left, seemingly unnoticed by the staff. Had a lovely meal in Baroosh instead!

We visited the cafe for lunch, food was lovely but the service was terrible. The staff were slow, took ages to clear our table and for the drinks to arrive. We piled up the plates for them but still they preferred to wipe a high chair, right next to us rather than clear our table.

Had seen this café while passing by and finally decided to try it. I wasn't disappointed. Service was prompt and friendly and the open plan lay-out added to a buzzing atmosphere. The menu is very tempting and it took a while to decide. Eventually, I ordered a wrap with roasted vegetables and brie - divine! Cakes and desserts looked very tasty. Will be returning.

This little café is a bit hidden away in Florence Walk so we only found it by accident. It's obviously a locals favourite as it was very busy. This is probably due to the friendly service and great food. Everything we saw just looked so good. Unfortunately we are not locals so wont be able to go back and try some more. But if you're in Bishops Stortford I would recommend finding this place it's well worth it.

This café is normally busy when I pass by. Now I know why. Most of the tables were taken, but found a table for two. Greeted by a friendly waitress, who soon took our order. Ordered Tea, coffee, Bakewell tart, and a sausage sandwich. Within 10 minutes the order was served. Wow! the sandwich was large. They do not scrimp on the filling. Plenty of sausage and tasty too. The tart was also very tasty. Tea was a bit weak, but coffee good and strong. Total cost about £10 that I think is good value. Well worth a visit. Service and food quality above average.

Found this today by accident when visiting Bishops Stortford for the first time. The service really was incredible for a cafe and much better than we'd received the night before in a 4 star hotel restaurant where we'd paid £50 each for a meal. We tried the Hallouimi salad with curried chick peas which was beautifully presented, generously sized and very tasty. There's a good choice of vegetarian and gluten free dishes and cakes. We bought 6 different ones to share with the office! What a gem!

Have been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. Food is always good, great coffee and fantastic homemade cakes. This time we had the vegetable soup which was delicious and was served with freshly baked thick sliced bread and butter, absolutely gorgeous. Minor point is tables are a little drab and sometimes difficult to place your feet and could probably do with a Kirsty Allsop makeover inside and then it would be 100%. But don't be put off by decor as the food more than makes up for it and we have always had very pleasant service too.

I always go here because I want a cake, but up to now I've never been able to manage one as the sandwiches are so big! Not only big but tasty with it. I can recommend the Cajun chicken club, but today I had a chilli wrap with sour cream and cheese, I wasn't disappointed as it tasted as good as it looked and I still couldn't manage a cake!!

I used to be a regular customer way back when it was Gluttons. I would eat here with my children and friends and the food and service was always really good and staff were very inviting. So when it changed management and became Knead Food, I went back to this central place but I have to admit, it just wasn't the same. The food was really good and we never had to wait long for our order but the staff seemed to be uninterested and not too friendly. So after many visits of the same, I decided just to buy the food and take out...however, they still couldn't manage a smile or appreciate the custom and so I found other places to meet friends in Bishops Stortford.Management / staff - it really does mean a lot to smile and greet your customers.

Popped in here for a cake and a coffee. Had an outstanding millionaires shortbread, which was not only delicious but enormous, and not too expensive. I struggled to finish it, but I perserved to ensure I sent my plate back empty! All of the cakes look really good, and the portions are very generous. Coffee also good, and the service quick and efficient.

I had a selection of 3 salads today and it was excellent! I had to wait a little bit (I was a bit early for lunch), but it came with plenty of apologies and the food was certainly worth waiting for! My 2 year old son had this fresh made banana / walnut bread: 2 toasted slices with butter for only £1.50. Delicious! (yes, I tried some too...)The tables are well spread out, so no worries regarding pushchairs.I love this place!

Visiting Bishops Stortford on a Saturday and desperate for refreshments on a freezing cold afternoon we happened upon this superb establishment in the town centre. The window display of freshly baked cakes, home made filled rolls, breads and general bustle inside showed how popular this cafe was - and it proved great. We had the best warm apple pie, sticky toffee tart, again warmed up we have ever had plus good service and value. We will recommend it to any friends visiting the town.

I felt compelled to share my experience at The Orange Tree. The decor is light and calming in this charming, country house, feel restaurant. The staff are attentive and friendly. The food is simply outstanding. This is the best meal I've eaten in a long time. Everything was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes are generous especially with the starters, which was good to see given the price. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and I'm very much looking forward to my next experience here.

Picked Rosey Lea because it has kerb appeal and there was a pretty terrace to enjoy the last of the summer. Had a simple lunch of baked potato and a glass of wine which came to £17.45. The spud was OK and came with a decent amount of salad. However, for that money I want a big, fluffy and really hot potato where the cheese is happily melting in to the mix. The one I had was warmish and smallish. Service was friendly but on the slow side.

This little Gem is one I can’t do justice to in a review… the food, service and atmosphere is off the scale and has raised the bar for me as far as pubs go… I was raised in a pub so my standards are high and it’s been my go to for the past 5 years. There is nothing that comes close to this little country boozer … consistently fabulous… never a disappointment and their staff are outstanding. I sadly refuse to go anywhere else now… HIGHLY RECOMMEND ❤️❤️
