Kiwi's in Cardiff

Used to love it here! It was one of the best pubs in Cardiff! Absolutely awful now, rude, useless bar staff who ignore you and serve someone else who comes to the bar after you! Would avoid at all costs

Shame, stood at the bar waiting to be served, waiting, waiting and then barmaid looked and served the lady next to me who had just walked up to the bar. I said, excuse me, I was next only to be told 'I don't care, you are rude', I don't care, and refused to serve me... Shame, never had any problems before...obviously 'little girl barmaid' problem...

Great atmosphere but the speaker by the window next to the seats was too loud.

Appalling staff behavior. We had a bag stolen in the premises and whilst the manager was apparently reviewing CCTV we were forcibly ejected from the building for no clear reason. Door staff extremely aggressive and not willing to listen to what had happened and over reacting to many situations throughout the evening. Sad to see this type of 1990s style aggressive door staff behavior still visible in a city centre location. Appalling

My hubby was gripped by a bouncer because he thought he hadn’t paid his drinks bill. However my brother in law had paid but the staff member told us after that kiwis have an issue with their signal…., poor mishandling of a simple mistake 🤨 won’t be going there again

I had a terrible experience here. As the designated driver who didn't drink, I was wrongly accused of being drunk and kicked out. The staff were rude and aggressive. Their bouncers even hurt my friend without cause. I'll be urging my friend to sue. This place is awful—avoid it at all costs!

I was just having a conversation when they approached me and told me to leave. They grabbed me tightly, hurting me, and threw me out to the police. I was respectful and did nothing wrong. This was completely inappropriate and caused me physical harm, so I’ll be taking legal action. The CCTV will back me up, so I hope you have it ready. Avoid this place at all costs!

Best atomphere great karaoke friendly staff clean and tidy place

Don’t leave your drink on the bar when you go for a cigarette as they’ll bin it!!! once you come in the dark haired barmaid will just shugg her shoulders and say tough!!!! nice!!!

It's a great place to visit and I'm going to start going more often when I visit Cardiff

Hostile staff with purple hair, which as a result have now lost potential client seeking to enquire about hiring their venue for regular sold out events. Came by this morning as I am passing through Cardiff and run an events company, selling out venues in Brighton and London. I knocked with no answer to the door. So, I decided to wait outside and sat down. Not too long later staff with purple hair came outside and was very rude, saying that I couldn’t sit down. Although I was polite and explained I had knocked and was waiting, I asked what time they open, and this person ignored my question and repeated to say it wasn’t okay to sit down as they had just cleaned the area (I had not made any mess mind you). I said, very politely, I did not intend to cause upset as this person was extremely angry. Point of the matter is I reminded polite and professional and wasn’t met with the same. This individual came across aggressive, rude, presumptuous and so much so that I didn’t have an opportunity to explain why I was there in the first place about my enquiry because they walked off! Simply ignored my question of what time the venue would open (so I could come back then and speak to someone) and left. This is no way to speak with people if as a business you wish to attract customers and collaborators. I will be finding a different venue to book for my events. Shame, as you have lost money in this process and a worthwhile customer. Will not be returning unless clear efforts to rectify this and efforts are shown by venue that staff act in professional manners. Attempted to find your email and called with no answer, therefore only resort was to send the message to you on this platform.

Absolutely disgusted with this bouncer I hadn’t even had a drink because I am disabled he made a scene and said I was drunk I have a leg problems he denied me access and I felt so embarrassed he needs training absolutely disgusting behaviour to be treated less than in this day an age

Love this venue...Only criticism is that music is too loud to hear conversation if you're sat at the back by speakers. Bar staff are friendly and attentive

Cheap but sleazy feeling Witnessed a red haired female bartender screaming and swearing at a just eat driver (all because he asked for a code!) which is a great advertisement for the place 👍

Stopped here for a quick pint before getting the airport bus , I was served by a friendly girl behind the bar.

Karaoke here is funny! Only point for me to make is that it isn't cardiffs oldest independent venue! That's Clwb!

Had karaoke on,walked in, no issues getting served,overall happy.

Brought back so many memories of my younger days....thoroughly enjoyed a couple of hours and a few drinks.

Sunday night karaoke was lovely, great crowd loads of fun very supportive of those nervous to sing

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and locals. Karaoke done superbly. Down from Dundee made us very welcome.

A great place to spend most evenings of the week if you are in a group of friends. Drinks offers day and night, karaoke 4 night's a week from 6pm. Live band's on a Friday and Saturday night. Great bar staff and karaoke with Lawrence is not to be missed. Sky sports TV also available. A great fun place to visit and don't forget the rugby friendlies in August for the build up to the rugby world cup 2023.

Really horrible experience here. I was pushed down some the stairs by one of the bouncers for no reason at all and when my boyfriend asked him what he was doing, we both got asked to leave even though we did nothing at all!

Absolute fab time . We went on a girls day out and started off in this pub and went back the end of the night to finish off. Fab music for our era . Had a dance and a wonderful time . Lovely bar staff and the girl dj was great.. 1 of my fav places in Cardiff

Fun place to visit. Went as a couple and had no issues at all with the bouncers as mentioned in previous reviews. Was fun to have a couple of beers and listen to the karaoke! Other customers were friendly

Absolutely terrible place and very rude bar team leader. I was a regular customer and helped these people out throughout covid 19 when the premises was struggling for trade and business. The way that they treat regular customers is absolutely shocking especially when I am a female aged 57 suffering with long term cancer .The way that these arrogant staff members tried to physically assault me is absolutely appalling. Please don't waste your time and money going to this filthy disgusting place. No such thing as loyalty towards good customers!!

What a great bar , the staff were so nice and changed the channel on the tvs so we could watch football results. Highly recommended. Even the locals we're friendly

If I could give less than 1 star I actually would !! Shocking visit with my boyfriend on Friday night. He was sat on his own, on his phone whilst waiting for me to come out of the toilet and got approached by security and told to leave. On asking why, he then has numerous security staff drag him out breaking his watch and loosing his phone while I was oblivious as I was still in the toilet. Apparently he was drunk??. Which yea we both were along with the majority of people in the bar, but he was sat on his own not causing any problems to anyone else. Absolutely, shocking behaviour from security and will never visit again!

I've been going to kiwi for over 20 years with no problem, friends and I love the place but tonight on s Thursday I was refused entry to an empty bar because I was by myself.. really!! I don't get it why would one person policy be a NO NO. By the way I'd only had 2 beers before

The female bouncer has an awful attitude. She refused us 4 women in our 40’s entry last night when we queried the £5 entry which was at 8pm. We have never paid to go in that early and we’ve been coming to kiwis for years! She’s an embarrassment to the place…

Head bouncer lady on door has horrendous attitude.. we have been coming to kiwis for decades. We are 3 women in our 40's. Just because our friend did know where the queue was she declared her too drunk to enter premise. We have never been so annoyed and embarrassed in our life. There was no reasoning with her.. really you need to check your staff. Disgusted

Turn up when in Cardiff. Always welcoming friendly and helpful staff.

Drinks upstairs in private room expensive, private room should have males toilets upstairs not downstairs and more seats needed around dance floor

Went upstairs to watch WALES V THE ALL BLACKS SAT 5th Nov . The match didn't come on the screen until AFTER the anthems , in fact match was on for 5 mins before it was shown .Sat and watched the game , spent our hard earned money and we were obviously there to see the Game .. With 5 minutes to go , the manager decided that we weren't important . ordered the staff tobplsy music

It was ok i wouldnt use it much its now more the older generation and toilets downstairs which is difficult 4 me to get too .. not good for me ...😐

This is from me and my son every flaming times he goes there he can't get in 34years of age .sober he drinks very little due to illness .woman on door always say he is drunk .he is like a lot of other people turned away .he has spoken to a lot of other people that has same problem if she don't like them they won't let them in .I am thinking of going there if this happens I will call police .yes you can turn any one away but I wish to make a point

This used to be Cardiff's Number 1 spot for a romantic liaison before the Internet. Even I had my moments.

My experience of Kiwi's or lack there of 20 minutes ago. Female bouncer said, you can't come in you are on your own? I told her I'm visiting from Ireland. Since when is it illegal to be on your own?! The previous two pubs with bouncers thought it was ok. Stay away from this place if you are a visitor on your own!

Recently had a private function at Kiwi's and I can say they were fantastic , all staff bouncers to owner were helpful , friendly and attentive , I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember the barmaids name (it was a VERY good night) that looked after us upstairs but would like to say a big thank you from the Milky Boys........that still sounds wrong....😁👌

do not go to this place if you intend to leave your drink unattended to quickly go to the toilet. went to complain ( as my full drink was took). bare minimum i expect is an apology but all i got was “ tough shit”. appalling service from a specific bar staff member. wont be coming here again lmao.

it's a great atmosphere for karaoke night but also a must visit place after a major event such as rugby.doesn't take too long to get served,well priced considering it's city centre.highly reccommended for anyone wanting karaoke ,but also a nice friendly city centre pint.

Down to earth real pub in the heart of town. Staff were great, place was relaxing and beer just spot on.
